Super little local place in Seymour! It's just off of the downtown area. Everyone was great, service was fantastic, and great convos with other guests. We had just stopped in to pick up togo for lunch and were invited to join guests at 2 open seats at their table while we waited. The Catfish was amazing! Huge filets, and my co-workers sandwich was beautiful. Very reasonably priced as well. We will most certainly be back.

If you are a seafood fan, this is an excellent place to grab a quick bite to eat. The food was very fresh and very hot. We ordered pollock and catfish. The catfish was the best I've had in a long time.

I was doing some work in Seymour, and some guys took me there for lunch. Great fish and frog legs! I ended up going there every day for lunch, until I finished the job. The lunch special is around $11. It fills you up. But if you like, you can add $2-$7 and get some extra things like frog legs, oysters, or a few other things. My opinion… Really great food, very friendly staff, and a great value.

If you like quaint small town restaurants with friendly fast service, and good food at a good price you must visit here. Fish and oysters came out hot and delicious.

The first time I ate there I had a fish sandwich platter , it was good . The second time I had the tenderloin sandwich platter , it was the best tenderloin I have ever had. And I have ate alot of tenderloin. But this place is the best . 110 % to refer this place. You WON'T be disappointed.

This place has the best food you've ever ate. I had the Catfish dinner today and it was so damn good. Just perfect. I'd like to see you all check this place out. This place serves great food. A lot of food that don't cost much at all. You can also eat in. Come on give them some business. You won't regret it. You'll want to go back. I do.

On a plus side everything is cooked to order. Cod loin sandwich was slightly overcooked and served on a low quality slightly stale bun.

The food was really good! They had a great deal on a fish sandwich and it was all really good! The people who work there were very nice and helpful. Overall it was a good experience and I would definitely go back!

Great local fish place. Cod sandwich was excellent (smallish) but for the price it was great. Inside is no-frills. The focus is food. For middle of the day, it was almost a line to the door. Definitely will try again.

Consistent, good food. The decor is what you'd expect from a midwestern restaurant that serves primarily fish, but plenty to keep your wandering eyes appeased! The service is friendly and fast, never have left disappointed!

I am not close to the Fish Stand but when I am passing through I have to make a stop. Love their frog legs, fries, pollock, hush puppies. It is all so delicious. The employees are always friendly and the order is out the door quick!

My husband and I discovered The Fish Shack when visiting a nearby winery. What a find! This place is like a year-round fish fry. Yum!! My husband and I both had a cod sandwich. He ordered French fries with his, while I had the hush puppies. Every bite was a slice of pure enjoyment! The Fish Shack is located in a wonderful old brick building that is rich with character. The staff is really friendly, and the service is lightning fast. I highly recommend you give it a try. Bon Appétit!

Food is good, portions generous, and staff is friendly. Prices are reasonable too. Their menu isn't really extensive but has a few basic fish dinners like Cod, Pollock, and Catfish.

I'm from out of town and came up to visit my dad. Asked him what he would like for lunch and he said fish or burgers. I knew he was thinking a Chain Restaurant place but I was thinking hole in the wall place. Got on Yelp and searched and found this place in downtown Seymour called The Fish Stand. Out of 27 reviews had only one bad review (somebody was having a bad day) so I thought we'd give it a try. Had the Monday Daily Special - Cod Dinner with cole slaw; fries and hush puppies. Cod was very good, fried but not greasy and no taste of fish. Fries were fresh with a nice seasoning. Cole slaw made with Mayo, different but very good. Hush puppies were home made and very good. Locally owned and very clean. I'd give this place a 10 out of 5 if I could.

WOW.... What a great place. I got the cod sandwich and hush puppies. The cod sandwich was probably the best fish sandwich that I have ever eaten. It was perfectly cooked with the perfect amount of tarter sauce. The hush puppies were yummy and had just the right amount of crisp. If you are in the seymore area you should swing by the Fish Stand and have dinner, I promise you will not be disappointed.

I got their special of the day and it was very good! People were friendly & service was great as well as fast! I will definitely be beck when I'm in the area. I highly recommend them to everyone!!

Really good! Was in the area and decided to check out the Fish Stand. Nice little place. Plenty of seating, both tables and a counter with plenty of stools. You order at the counter and they bring your food to your table. I ordered the Friday special, fried shrimp dinner. It comes with coleslaw, fries and hush puppies. My partner wanted the cod sandwich, but they had already sold out, so she went with the catfish sandwich and the fried green beans. Food came out fast and hot, right out of the fryer. I loved my shrimp and the housemade cocktails sauce. The fries were just okay. The hush puppies were good, a bit more onion than I expected but still tasty. Jean ate my coleslaw and enjoyed it. Her catfish sandwich was HUGE. Two very large fillets. She enjoyed it but it was more food than one person can eat. She wasn't a fan of the green beans. Pepsi products and ice tea to drink. The tea was fresh and good and they give you a large glass full. Locals were coming in and ordering as we had our dinner. Mostly take out orders. They seem to have a lot of regular customers, always a good sign. Service was friendly, and the food was fresh and delicious. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area.

Service with a smile!! Great food! Hot, fresh and quick. Very reasonably priced. We had catfish sandwich, clam strip, codsandwich and frog legs. Cocktail sauce was different but was excellent. Atmosphere is small but clean and perfectly decorated! We were very pleased with our side stop off the beaten path!

The Fish Stand has been a staple in downtown Seymour for many years. They have the absolute best fish sandwich around! They've also added several new things to the menu that you don't usually find, that are worth the try.

Yuck! Fish was cold and greasy and just tasted terrible. Usually I don't avoid a place based on a single experience but it was so bad That I won't be going back there ever.

Tenderloins are amazing ; wonderful local family ownership committed to helping the less fortunate by providing the opportunity for a free meal.

The Fish Stand is an easy place to dismiss or just plain miss, but it is a decent little place. The hush puppies and crab cakes look like they will be blah, but both were delicious! Don't judge by the look! The Pollock sandwich was okay, but the biggest disappointment was the sauces. The tartar sauce tasted like mayonnaise, and the cocktail sauce tasted too much like ketchup. Service was friendly and prompt. Definitely would give a chance...

What a hidden gem. I discovered this place through a referral from an acquaintance. I called them yesterday evening to find out if they could accommodate an order for 6 and to learn their hours. During the conversation I was informed that I could give them my order and it would be ready for me upon pick up the next day. I gave them an order for 6 fish sandwiches, 6 orders of hush puppies, 6 cole slaw, and 6 fried green beens. I advised them I would be there at 11:45am for pick up. I arrived at 11:43 and they were packing my order as I walked in the door. What a pleasant surprise to see such excellent customer service. The food was great and the sandwiches were much larger that I expected. I can recommend this place with confidence and will certainly make my go-to for fish in Seymour.

Catfish and cod dinners were excellent. Crispy, fried goodness. Friendly, attentive staff. Will definitely return.

Great place it's a hidden local gem. I recommend giving them a try they have everything from seafood to tenderloin's.

I finally stopped into The Fish Stand in Seymour Indiana. I was so disappointed. The fish tasted old and a little off. My husband said his was old tasting too. I will never go there again. I should have went back in and told them. I would rate them a minus 3-.

The fish is fresh and perfectly deep fried. The buns are disappointingly plain, wilting fast. Worth a try!

Wow! What a wonderful little place. Yeah, it's a little bit of a dive full of locals, but the food is worth the stop. A small, family-owned place, the wait staff were very friendly & attentive. It's counter service, then brought to your table. You get a generous amount of dodos for the price. Their cocktail sauce is homemade. It's tangy, but not over-powering. The tarter sauce had a nice smooth taste as well. They're only open until 7pm through the week and 4pm on Saturday. That's because they don't need to be open later. It's about 5 miles off of 65 in downtown Seymour and the building is pretty unassuming. Good job!

Wow is right The Fish Stand is the real deal ,pun intended. My wife and I are visiting family in Seymour Indiana and stopped in for a bit. Yummy fresh fish and crispy fries, excellent hush puppies, and chill Americana atmosphere. It's worth going a bit out of the way if you like a fresh fish sandwich.

I'm from out of town. I work in seymour. I love going to this place on my way home. Looks like most reviews love the catfish, but the cod sandwich is one of the best I've had ever. It's amazing. Add some perfect hush puppies and it's a meal. Great place!

I can not get enough of this place!! I come here 2-3 times a week for lunch. The cod sandwich is amazing. This place is a Seymour Indiana staple..you have to try it.

This place is a little place with a big taste. Come here with an appetite and little change in your pocket and you will be happy. We had fish sandwiches, cod and catfish respectively and were totally full. It's a little "hole in the wall" place that we all love and know make the best food. The ladies behind the counter and the little guy helping them out were great. Fish Stand - come back and come often. Oh and by the way - I've been here 15 years and never stopped in until now - I've missed out on some good food.

Wow, wow, and more wow....if you like FRESH catfish without a ton of breading, and the option of regular, cajun and other breading, you'll love this place. Worth a drive into the country for. In the little town of Seymour, IN, where John Cougar Mellenkamp is from, this little fish restaurant is a historic building is a GEM. Also good cod. Great owner!

It's hard to find a really good fish sandwich these days but this place has it! The cod is great! The catfish is awesome! Good sides and all at reasonable prices! Not a fancy place but worth the trip! Yummy!!!

Our family has been eating here for years with the original owners in he 60's, food is still as fresh and perfectly prepared with the new owners. They have expanded the menu but we always ending up getting an of fashioned fish sandwich.

One of my favorite places to purchase fried catfish. They also carry other foods such as Chili, tenderloins etc. My other favorite here is the tenderloins. Very large, well priced. The owners care about what they serve and ensure quality service and food is maintained here. I would highly recommend.

We Yelped restaurants in Seymour that we not chains and the Fish Shack popped up. After reading the reviews, we decided to go and were not disappointed. The catfish sandwiches were delicious and piping hot......not at all greasy and perfectly breaded. Sides of potato salad and cold slaw were delicious too. Hubby ordered onion rings which were perfectly breaded and fried but not greasy. We will definitely go again next time we want a fish sandwich.
