The Fitz Cafe & Rooftop Bar

The Fitz Café and Rooftop has become one of my favourite spots in Fitzroy, and it is a place I always enjoy returning to. What makes it special is the rooftop area. It is not very large and it does not offer the most dramatic view, but it has a peaceful atmosphere and a relaxed vibe that makes it genuinely enjoyable to sit, eat, and unwind. The food is consistently impressive. The Caesar salad and steak sandwich were both excellent, and the chicken parma was very tasty as well. Everything I have tried has been well prepared with good flavours and generous portions. Their cocktails are also worth mentioning, as they are balanced, refreshing, and enjoyable. The service is another highlight. All the staff are friendly, polite, and welcoming. The person who manages the bar upstairs deserves a mention for his positive attitude and warm smile, which adds to the pleasant rooftop experience. The venue has several seating options including an outdoor area, a ground floor section, and a first floor, with the rooftop situated on the upper level. The only downside is the toilet situation. It is not as clean as expected, especially considering the size of the venue and the overall quality of the space. It is something that could be improved to match the rest of the experience. Overall, it is a fantastic spot with a great atmosphere, delicious food, and excellent service. Despite the minor issue with the toilets, it remains one of my favourite places in the area.

A nice spot to get away from the current heat. Outside seating as well as a small inside area. I didn't explore at all upstairs so only a partial review. The usual cafe brunch staples like poached eggs and burgers apply but the Coopers draught on tap is an interesting touch. The sparkling water made on the spot was a nice addition as well. Some slight communication issues that were soon resolved but overall a nice vibe. The ability to order at the table via the Square pay app is also appreciated.

It was just disappointing. Our food was cold and portions were tiny. There was also no communication from the staff. I ordered a veg nachos which I was told would be with beans (instead of beef) and then I get it with no protein at all and was told that there was never meant to be beans on it. Super confusing, and $27 for basically chips and salsa is crazy. Also the carbonara tasted like thickened cream with pasta, 0 flavour.

After lots of walking along Brunswick St, we found a little gem to sit & chat on the 2nd floor of The Fritz. Staff very friendly. Service quick & professional. Love an all day breaky menu. All our meals were amazing. Well presented, good quality produce & very tasty. No complaints. The cocktail I had wasnt value for money, too much ice. Other than that a huge range of drinks to choose from

Good good and good company. We did see a mouse run around the tables -it was cute and lightning fast. Had a starter and cider. Saw some of the steaks and pizzas that was served and it looked and smelled amazing

Such an amazing venue! Came for boozy brunch, with Shaun being so accommodating and welcoming. Would absolutely recommend this place not just for tasty food (had the wild mix mushrooms, which were beyond tasty), but also for the diverse cocktails which were equally delicious 🤤

Alice killed it! She was the most amazing! We were too much to handles but omg she still made sure we had the best time. Cudos to her!!

Best diner in Melbourne! Very kids friendly with high chair and kids menu. Surely we come back.
