The Flaming Kiwi Backpackers - BBH

One of the best hostel I ever done. I stayed as a long term and I felt like at home, made friends that I consider like family. It's a really small and cosy hostel where you can really connect with people. Thanks to José and Josh the best managers 🫶🏻

I have been traveling for 6years, Flaming Kiwi Backpackers is by far my favorite hostel in all the places I’ve been to. I just left after 5months there. Originally, I planned on staying 2 weeks, however after those two weeks, I could not leave this place. I made friends who became my family, the place is always clean, super organized, there’s always someone to manage and help. I ended up staying as a long term, as it is an option when availability allows it, and it was the best 5months! Big thanks to Josh and Jose who run the place and all the work they put into making sure you feel at home. They have quizz night, bingo night, movie night. The place is cozy with so much storage. If you’re hesitating about staying there, please don’t and book already!

The most amazing hostel ever!! Such beautiful staff and people who are always willing to help, really made us feel at home ❤️ They host super cute nights so people from the hostel can get to know each other better which is always so nice whole backpacking. Such a lovely atmosphere which was a highlight of our nz trip ❤️❤️

Apart from parking as below the cabin at the backpackers met and exceeded expectations. But we were very disappointed with the false advertising of parking being available. It turns out parking is very limited and on a first come, first served basis. The booking site we used advertised it as having parking but no mention of it being limited in any way. It was only mentioned on the welcome message once we'd paid and could not reorganise. It then turned out on one night we could not get parking and could not get parking on the street at all and spent over an hour sorting it out. We had to pay for paid overnight parking, get an Uber back due to rain, and get up early the next morning before the parking expired. Not a pleasant experience. This place really needs to advertise properly that it is limited parking or allocate parking.

the hostel was about a 10 mins walk to the city. not bad but we saw a few other hostels on the way. our cabin was smelly, it smelt like mold as the floors were carpet. id ask them for a non carpetted room. the bathrooms were old and weirdly set up. overall it wasnt horrible but i wouldnt recommend.

We were in a private room and the hostel was very Noisy. It looks like was run by a bunch of college students that were partying every night. We could not sleep well for 3 consecutive nights. Definitely not a place were you want to rest at night. Room was extremely small and with walls that you can hear everything. Don't recommend at all.

Arrived to this hostel my second night in queenstown, planned to stay a few nights, ended up staying here almost a month. Jose brought me in with a warm welcome and Josh was very helpful with anything I needed for the duration of my stay. Lovely long termers, great social environment, somewhere to come back to as a second home.

Went there few days ago, encountered Josh at the reception desk, dude was so nice and even suggested few places to go! Also granted our small request to make to the room a little special xD We stayed in a cabin with 1 queen bed and single bunk bed, toilet is having to go out to the kitchen area, laundry provided easy to use They have i think like weekly night activities with all the backpackers in there? Anyways, thanks! Hope to be there again. Very recommended
