The vibe at The Fleet Street Press is hip but cheerful. No Early 21st Century ironic snarls for the baristas who work here. Terrific coffee and tea with fresh pastries and other baked goods and sandwiches. The selection of beverage beans and leaves is very impressive. The customer base appears to be a melange of lawyers, clerks, tourists, locals, and students--everybody getting along quite nicely, thank you. Because of the downstairs room, there appears to be plenty of seating even at crush times. The price is also very right: 2 pots of tea and 2 pastries in the AM consistently came in c. 8.50--not bad at all for the location.
We had to change hotels today and will miss this place. Like Arnold S., however: "We'll be back."
PS: be sure to check out where the toilet brush is stored if you use the 'loo.
