3 Best Day Trips From Bangkok

"The Float House aims to be the world’s best floating resort, and it could well claim the title. One hour from the river town of Kanchanaburi, three hours from Bangkok, and only reachable by boat—use its complimentary transfer, running every 30 minutes from Phutakien Pier—the property is surrounded by lush, verdant jungle and extends over a quiet stretch of the river Kwai, where the only sounds you’ll hear are passing dinghies and chirping birds. It’s a magical location, a quaint hangout from which to explore the surrounding area and its history. The hotel’s thatched river lodges are all the same category: airy villas constructed in teakwood and bamboo, with breezy drapes and high ceilings that let in plenty of light. The overall aesthetic is simple, but pretty; think folksy Thai meets 21st-century comforts like WiFi, 32-inch LCD screens, and air-conditioning. The main highlight, though, are the decked private balconies overlooking—or rather on—the river, which are kitted out with chairs and swings." - Marianna Cerini

I love to explore unique hotels so this has been on my list for a while. It indeed is a very great experience. The house floats on water so every time when a boat passes by, it will move a bit and there could be some squeaky sound, but it doesn't bother me. The house it self is very spacious and comfortable, and so chill to just sit by the river and watching it flow by. Service was very good. The hotel also organizes various activities but all I wanted to do was relax, so I just enjoyed my room. Too bad the spa was fully booked, will have to try next time. As you are surrounded by forest, it's very quiet at night. I didn't went into the water as it seems to be flowing quite fast. Food at the restaurant is very decent as well. I sighed up a 2-day tour to Kanchanaburi which included a night in this hotel. The next time I will probably just book it by myself for a longer stay. If you are tired of the busy, crowded Bangkok, give this a try.

Drove from Bangkok and easy to find the pier by location, took about 4 hours (No Toll Way). The long tail boat ride to get to the hotel is lovely. Quick check in and pleasant reception team.| Khun S at the restaurant was really knowledgeable she told us many interesting facts and places to visit and is such a lovely person, see saw us off on our way home. A credit to the resort.|Booked the Kayak and is definitely a must also jumping off the balcony into the river and floating down to the end of the resort. Brilliant after a long day siteseeing. ||Its a lovely, relaxing, get away from it all resort. Must visit for 3 nights. Food is good and the wine list is very reasonably priced. ||Well Done.

The property is truly in an amazing setting. The longboat is a really unique way to arrive, but it does become a little inconvenient after a few days. Mr. Am in restaurant was really the only employee who stood out to us which we did not find to be the case in other Thai properties we stayed. We found the restaurant to be excellent with very fair prices considering there are no other options. Property is very convenient to Hellfire Pass, but most other sites at least an hour away. We are very glad we experienced this unique property but most likely a one time visit.

Such a lovely and relaxing place to stay. We were that for 3 nights. The rooms were lovely and the view from the corner villa was fantastic. The staff were friendly and caring. The variety of food and drinks was exactly what we wanted. The service and care the restaurant staff took, was highly appreciated. We waited until we got there to book the tours and yes that was the best idea. They were helpful and helped us with the choices that best suited our needs. |The tour guide was friendly and helpful and make the tour personal. |We had a fabulous time and we would definitely recommend it.

Beautiful floathouse resort with stunning river view. We were greeted by a very helpful and friendly staff. Upon a check-in process, we were given a herb drink which was very refreshing and we could not have enough of it. The room was huge and luxurious and has it own balcony over looking the river and mountains. Cozy ambience and very quiet at night. Dinner and breakfast were great too. Highly recommend to everyone

We went for a quick weekend getaway from Bangkok to relax and get out of the city. This is an excellent place to do that. Rooms are beautiful and very clean. Each room has a deck facing the river where you can sit and enjoy nature or watch the long tail boats passing. The staff of this resort really go above and beyond to make your stay perfect in every aspect. My highest recommendation for this place. Great food, great rooms, great location and most of all…. Great staff! We will be back to this fantastic spot for a relaxing romantic weekend again soon. Big Thank You to the staff for making our weekend getaway wonderful.

This place is visually stunning even before you arrive since you are ferried to the resort by longboat. The rooms are beautiful each with a floating patio on the river in the jungle. The restaurant was excellent as well. We enjoyed a float along the river. Highly recommended!

We stayed for two nights and enjoyed floating on the river surrounded by nature. The rooms are beautifully decorated and bed was comfortable but the air conditioning wasn’t effective and didn’t cool us down after a long day of sightseeing. Also there was no hot water in the washbasin and very little flow. Breakfast was a buffet with a reasonable choice and staff were attentive and friendly. The dinners (a la carte) were adequate but could have been higher quality for the price. Being so isolated there is no competition. |The location is stunning and arriving/departing by boat was a novelty. If you have a mobility problem try to avoid a long-tail boat and ask to travel in a more comfortable alternative. The low freeboard of the long-tail made is quite difficult for me (with knee problems) to embark and disembark.|The hotel is very convenient for visiting Hellfire Pass and Erawan National Park waterfall.
