"What started with a few student parties in the 1990s turned into a tidy line in hospitality for events and communications specialist Niels Jäger and architect Sascha Arnold. Now joined by another architect, Steffen Werner, the trio run James T Hunt Bar, Bob Beaman Music Club and Stereo Café. The Flushing Meadows, their first foray into accommodation, opened in 2014 on the top two floors of a former telecommunications building in Glockenbachviertel. “It’s more of a freestyle approach to a hotel,” says Arnold of the industrial yet relaxed setting. Each of the 11 rooms on the third floor was designed by a different creative – including restaurateur Charles Schumann, DJ Helmut Geier and Cathal McAteer, founder of Folk clothing – and features soaring 4-metre-high ceilings."

The Flushing Meadows Hotel (Munich, Bavaria) 15 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Most boutique hotels at least try to appeal to a creative crowd — the problem is that they’re not always tuned in to what it is that creative people want from a hotel. The Flushing Meadows Hotel & Bar suffers from no such confusion. Its owners and designers are architects, bar owners, artists, musicians, even surfers, and are exactly the sort of people any hip little boutique wants as its clientele." - Tablet Hotels

The location is fabulous, close to metro, restaurants and walking distance to many attractions. Rooms were clean. We did not have any noise issues. Bed was a bit hard for my liking, but my family was comfortable. Value for room was good. Staff was exceptional and very helpful. The bar was fun. The downsides - our room was on the dark side at night, better lighting around the bed would help. I like shelves in a shower, which was lacking, over the sink shelf in bathroom was good. Our sons room had a rain shower, which was really high up and they would have preferred it to be lower.

This is a genuinely great wee hotel. From the outside it’s not very inviting, and the elevator ride feels a bit horror-movie, but the bar area, staff and rooms are great! The location is also very convenient for walking around Munich.

I should preface this review with: staff was super friendly, bed linens and bathroom were perfectly clean. This was a totally ok, if basic, place to stay for a few nights.||||HOWEVER -3 points for completely misleading photos of rooms, misleading advertising about amenities, and just generally bait-and-switch vibes. Definitely not a hip or "design" hotel HAHAHAHA! My room looked nothing like the photos, for one: old wall-to-wall shag carpeting (gross!!!), seriously beat up walls and desk, flickering lights, dark chipped paint on the walls. Also, the room contained almost none of the items that were specifically advertised in the room description: no coffee maker, no bluetooth speaker, etc. The in-room safe was non-functional. The breakfast was literally some plain croissants and two jars of jam, just a gimmick to be able to tick "breakfast included" on hotel search sites (in fairness: they are transparent about this if particular gimmick you bother to read).||||A reasonable price for this room if it were advertised in a transparent way would be about half of what they charge. In a pinch go ahead and stay here, it's totally fine, but if you have a choice then avoid it out of principle. More honest businesses deserve your business.

Great spot in the heart of Munich. Easily walk able with many restaurants and pubs nearby. The bar on the top floor was great and all the staff were friendly and helpful as well. Would definitely stay again.

This would have been a great place to stay. However there was no hot water for the whole of the time I was there, 3 nights. I was refunded for part of the stay and given a late check out but it definitely has made me think twice before staying again. Online communication before the stay was almost non existent. When you arrive there is no clear signage for the hotel, its several floors up and no clear way of knowing your at the right place until you arrive at that floor where there was an empty reception desk. Having said this the staff that were working were really friendly. It did get a little stressful on the last day with confusion over room numbers that I had been given as a late check out. The 2 ladies that had been bar tending the roof top bar were super helpful and friendly. If you can get confirmation that the hot water works, a great spot to stay in a good location.

Google
No hot water and constant sounds from the toilet. They promised a compensation, but does not answer my email. I’ve asked Amex GBT to remove this as a recommended hotel for businesses.

Google
Rooftop bar overlooking an Innenhof of Munich apartments. Overpriced drinks, tight seating, and the worst of Munich bar staff. Booked here for 40 people for drinks. Staff were overwhelmed, rude, arrogant, and unpleasant. Was so bad we left for a different venue hours before we planned to. Don’t give these people your money. I cannot believe this place has 4.3 stars currently. It’s either Munich folk convincing themselves it is a cool spot, or they are gaming the system. The staff were so awful it will live long in the memory for me. Go to literally any other bar in Munich and you will be treated better and have better evening.

To start with room I had to climb ladder to climb into bed, with wobbly handrail on one side. Middle of the room hammock random. Bathroom shower not the best set up. Overall room was just not comfortable. Bar first morning opened on time with no breakfast served and second morning didn’t open fill 8:20 and was late setting it up. Cleaners start with 7-8 am which is very loud in the room if trying to sleep. Very poor experience overall - won’t be booking this again.

Yelp
My friends and I came here while visiting Munich and had a great night! Eunice, the bartender, was excellent-very friendly and he provided excellent service. The cocktails were aesthetically pleasing and delicious. We also ordered a few plates of food to share-the currywurst, hot ham and cheese sandwich, and cheese board. I highly recommend all of those options-they were all delicious and easily shareable amongst a small group of people. I wish it would've been warm enough to sit outside but we still had a great time inside.

Yelp
avoid at all costs! most arrogant and snobbiest staff ever, drinks and service take forever - even when there were only 5 guests and are highly overpriced. Nice view from roof terrace though. But the thing that struck me most was the arrogance we got from staff. They refused to prepare ordered drinks, claiming that they don't serve "stuff like that" here. Really?! No Aperol?! Only disgusting tasting coffee and no please and thank-you's is what they're good at here - besides desperately trying to look cool. Never again! Pride goeth before the fall.

Yelp
I really like this cocktail bar. To start, the drinks are pretty tasty and the space is very small, dark and intimate. Good music and a chill vibe. Lovely terrace with a great view at night. Pretty cool to look down at Fraunhoferstrasse at night as well.

Yelp
My worst Bar experience in Munich. The ambiance and the drinks are OK - but the utterly unprofessional attitude of the staff really killed it for me. It's a place where the notion that politeness, attentiveness and service-orientation are prerequisites for a good and cool bar has not arrived yet. Much rather this is one of the last bars dedicated to the 90s Munich tradition of having staff who all think they are doing you a favor to let you spend your money on their mediocre G&Ts. I won't even waste my time to retell all the arrogance and stupidity I encountered during a quick 30 minute drink at the Flushing Meadows Bar. Just take every possible aspect of this experience, from arriving, to paying and leaving again and think of how it could be ruined. If you look at other commentaries about the place on whichever platform you like (see comments about the hotel on Yelp), you'll realize that I am not particularly sensitive to bad staff attitude - this place really has a service issue and obviously management doesn't care, or thinks that's how it's supposed to be... Waste of a nice location.
