The Flying Fish Boutique Hostel Dumaguete

I booked this hostel because of its aesthetic, and true enough, the theme of the place is very consistent. As someone who prefers a peaceful and quiet environment, the location of the hostel is perfect. We also love that it’s surrounded by so many restaurants. The only letdown was our room. It was quite small, but we didn’t mind since we mostly stayed out exploring the city. What we did notice, though, was the sink, it was too small for our liking. The bathroom door was also a bit inconvenient since it had no lock and wouldn’t open all the way. On top of that, the water pressure in the shower was very weak. That said, aside from the “bathroom concerns,” the place is amazing. We especially loved hanging out in their common area.

Booked for 5 pax, ended up having a 6-bed dormitory to ourselves. Room is airconditioned, each bed has 1 towel, 1 thin blanket, and 1 pillow. The shared toilet and showers have soap dispensers but you need to bring your own toothbrush and toothpaste. Free water from the dispenser at the lobby. The hostel is very responsive to queries online. Arrival was easy, access to wifi requires vouchers that expires for 1 day. Parking for our rental car is on-street near an intersection. Though the road doesn’t seem very busy, backing into the parking might be anxiety inducing if you cause traffic. The theme of the place was consistent throughout the hostel. Overall the price we paid for our 2-day stay was a great deal.

I stayed here last October 23-25 for my short trip in Valencia, well, the staffs are very approachable, I arrived in Duma at 5:30 am but then my check-in is 2 pm so I contacted the staff beforehand if it is possible for me to leave my bag there before I go to my trip, luckily they agreed. I just really hate some of the guest who are not considerate, imagine at 5 am, you will be awaken because you can hear smn watching a video, oh come on, so selfish and that is why I really told that person to be considerate and use earphones instead. I will still recommend this place though if you don’t want to spend much money for your accommodation since the staffs were very accomodating🤩🤩🤩

My group and I recently booked a stay in flying fish, drawn in by what seemed like an incredible deal on their website. The listing stated "2 days and 2 nights for only ₱900," and we even took the time to confirm that this price was for our group of 8 people. We were excited for our trip, but upon arrival, our excitement turned to disappointment and frustration. The staff informed us that the ₱900 price was not for the group, but was instead per person. This was in direct contradiction to the information we had seen and confirmed on their website. The significant difference in price completely changed our budget and was a major letdown. It felt like a classic bait-and-switch. While the staff was polite, the initial misleading information was a very poor start to our stay and made us question the hotel's integrity.

Not for ones who are looking for luxury but more on the aesthetic artsy side, without sacrificing comfort. Very clean rooms, has hot and cold showers, and very near other nearby destinations, not to mention very affordable rates.

Celebrated my birthday at Flying Fish with friends the other day! The staff were warm and attentive, the ambiance was relaxed but stylish, and the food was delicious (+ points for the super yum ube cheesecake my friends surprised me with 🍰).

The air conditioner is broken. They should have checked the utilities first before letting guests use the private room. We were expecting a comfortable stay, but now we’re left with choices like staying in the private room with just an electric fan or transferring to a dorm-type room. The staff should have checked if any appliances were broken beforehand, and if there are situations like this, they should at least provide two fans in the private room because one isn’t enough for the space.

Cool place, open and airy. They have private rooms with private bathrooms and dorm rooms with shared facilities. They have several areas to lounge around. However the downside of the concept are the mosquitoes and the heat and rain going inside the common areas. Both staircases going upstairs are exposed to the elements.
