"The Fontaine Why we love it: A design-forward stay in Kansas City’s sophisticated Country Club Plaza The Highlights: - A playful design inspired by Spain - The creative American cuisine at the rooftop restaurant - A rooftop swimming pool and fire pit The Review: The Fontaine fits right in with its surroundings in Country Club Plaza—an area styled after the plazas of Seville, Spain. In the hotel lobby, the marble floors are inlaid with tile mosaics, the walls are hung with large-scale Renaissance artworks, and the ceiling is crowned by a brilliant blue, hand-blown Murano chandelier. The 132 rooms and suites, on the other hand, have an almost coastal feel, complete with a palette of blues, charcoals, and whites. Beds are super comfy, with tapestry headboards and Egyptian cotton linens, while the Carrera marble bathrooms further pamper guests with oversize showers and rainfall showerheads. There are loads of restaurants in Country Club Plaza, but like the shops, many are chains. This makes The Fontaine’s dining options all the more appealing. Start with a pre-dinner cocktail at The Bar, which hosts a weekday happy hour from 4 to 6 p.m., then head to dinner at Parker, the hotel’s rooftop restaurant. Even with such top-notch F&B, the Fontaine’s finest amenity remains its small rooftop pool, which is bordered by a fire pit and backed by panoramic views."

Stayed at The Fontaine and had an incredible time! The rooftop pool is a major highlight—perfect views, good vibes, and super clean. The staff was extremely professional and personable, always making sure guests were taken care of. The room was spotless, and customer service throughout my stay was top-notch. The location is prime and parking is convenient, although a bit pricey—still worth it for the experience. If you’re looking for a luxury stay in Kansas City with excellent amenities and unforgettable rooftop fun, The Fontaine delivers.

Google
Great place for a date. The room was great, bar was great. Restaurant food was adequate. That room could use a little updating to encourage more traffic from the bar. Do something with the ceiling. Would definitely come back for the overall experience, but would not eat at the restaurant.

Google
Just celebrated our anniversary with an overnight stay at the Fontaine. The staff, especially Sheyla, took wonderful care of us, and did a great job making our stay special. The rooftop pool is a perfect pool for relaxing and reading a book. We hope to come back next year.

The second we arrived, Ryan and Tashae were so incredible! They were welcoming, so kind, and had upgraded us without us knowing!! They hooked us up with some amazing comps and truly made my birthday unforgettable. I've never, ever stayed in such an incredible room in my life. Thank you so much to these wonderful humans for making our stay perfect!!

Google
This place was amazing. The customer service and hospitality is too notch. We were checked in by Jessie who was lovely vibrant and offered recommendations for the area and around town. The room was clean , spacious and quiet. Bartender Joey was super positive and had an amazing vibe about him. Breakfast was phemomal (Avocado toast was perfect) and our server Paige was attentive , quick and lovely. The hotel parking has access from both sides of the street and the hotel is in walking distance to food, shops, restaurants and entertainment. I would easily recommend staying here and would come back when I come to visit KC. I'd give 6 stars if I could.

Google
Tashae at the front desk is amazing. We called before arriving and she told us to have a safe drive in. Then she gave us a very warm and welcoming welcome. Such a professional and a great first impression of the hotel. I just love her! Lakota our bell man was good with all our luggage and car. He was so friendly. Great room and wonderful hotel in The Plaza area of Kansas City. I can’t say enough about this staff and service.

Google
There was an event so couldn't eat at the restaurant unless you did the bar area. Bartenders were so nice and friendly and funny. Crabs cakes were good but they were cold.Should have been hot. The shrimp cocktail had a different presentation then the typical shrimp cocktail but it was really good. Would definitely go back. Good summer place to eat and drink with the pool on the roof next to the bar area.

Google
Enjoyed my stay at The Fontaine Hotel. From the guest service at reservations over the phone to meeting Jesse at the front desk and Paige and Guwa at the roof top restaurant my stay was amazing. Everyone was so helpful and I appreciated the time everyone took to make sure I had a great stay. I had a great view from my fourth floor room and the views from the rooftop restaurant were breathtaking. I had a friend meet me for dinner and we both enjoyed our meals….. the chef did great. Can’t wait to return.

Yelp
I would have extended my stay here again and again. The Fontaine legitimately represents what I believe the hospitality industry has lost at many establishments. All of the staff that I interacted with were kind, attentive and accommodating. From speaking to a late night reservation representative to the late night security personnel, every single interaction improved my stay. Hands down, if I ever visit the area again, I will stay here so long as they have availability. I didn't have a chance to venture to either of the restaurants or the roof top pool, but I did play corn hole in the back courtyard with a couple who were also staying there. The room was AWESOME and far exceeded what my expectations were. Happy camper over here!

Yelp
Nice sized rooms. We were on the 4th floor. Small fridge, bottled water , chair & chaise to relax on. The shower is great and plenty of room on the bathroom vanity. We had plenty of room to hang with another couple as the bar was standing room only that night.

Yelp
Not sure why this place gets some much hate, the staff were friendly, the rooms were clean and well kept, and the pool and restaurant were divine. There were a few hiccups along the way like the beer taps were offline or not having OJ for breakfast one morning but everything else made up for it and I would def return for another stay. The surrounding area of Westwood and the plaza were also phenomenal additions to the stay as was the shuttle service. A solid 4 from me!

Yelp
This is one of the worst hotel stays I've ever experienced. I was so excited to try out the Fontaine as I travel to KC about once a month. To say it has fallen far below expectations is an understatement. Upon checking in to room 422 on 10/9 around 11pm, I noticed my room was dusty, there was hair on the nightstand, one of the lamps on the wall was loose and didn't turn on and the closet light didn't work. Because I'd arrived so late, I decided I would share my concerns in the morning. When I went to shower on 10/10, my shower would not get hot. I called the front desk and spoke with Donyell (unsure of spelling). I told her the water wasn't getting hot and she paused and waited for me to say more. I asked if someone could take a look and she informed me maintenance didn't arrive until 8 am. I had to leave the hotel by 8 am in order to make it to a client meeting. I asked if there was another room I could shower in and she noted that I could pack up my things and move to another room but she couldn't guarantee hot water there either. I didn't have time to go back and forth so I took a cold shower. Fast forward to 10 pm on 10/10. When I returned to the hotel after a long day's work, I shared my concerns with Nathan at the front desk who offered to move me to another room on the same floor. He was extremely apologetic, pleasant and helpful. I moved to room 420 within ten minutes after Nathan ensured the room had working hot water. While doing my nightly facial routine, I went to adjust the vanity mirror and noticed it was loose. I tried to adjust it carefully and it came off its hinges and shattered on the floor. I called the front desk but the phone was so static filled I couldn't hear the other person on the end clearly and she told me to call from my cell phone. I spent about 5 minutes searching for the direct number because the number on the phone did not connect me to the local number. After two transfers and trying to get connected to the front desk, no one was answering so...in my pajamas, without makeup and after a 14 hour day, I had to go to the front desk to request housekeeping to help me get the shattered glass. Donyell was not at the desk when I arrived, but soon after came with a paper plate and got pizza slices from someone at the desk. When I told her why I was there, she was extremely curt and asked if I wanted to move rooms. I told her I just wanted to clean up the glass so I didn't cut myself in the morning. I told her I tried calling down from my cell phone as she'd instructed and she rudely interrupted me and said, "I know, we didn't answer the phones because we're busy." It was insulting to say the least because she wasn't busy, she was getting a paper plate for pizza, which I don't have an issue with. I take issue with her tone, her rudeness and her inability to mask that she was annoyed with me. She snarkily said, "420, got it." Jordan came up shortly after and was a gem, kind and apologetic and expediently cleaned up the glass. I've not ever been treated so rudely for kindly and patiently expressing concerns about my hotel room. I will not EVER stay here again and one of my clients asked at dinner about whether I'd recommend the Fontaine because she's local and was considering a staycation and I strongly cautioned her that the reviews didn't match my experience. I took pictures of the dirt in the second room where a towel hook is coming out of the wall, the floors are dirty, the toilet paper dispenser looks to be coming off the wall, etc. I work in leadership and management and I'm appalled with Donyell's unnecessary rude demeanor. She is NOT a good face for your front desk. I was nothing but kind and patient when I expressed my concerns and I was not met with the same kindness and courtesy. For some reason my photos won't post.

Yelp
Very comfortable very quiet very accommodating hotel. Great rooftop bar, great food and the rooms were very comfortable. Climate control was easy to manage. Housekeeping did a great job but most notably, the front desk staff was exceptional. There were four different employees whom I worked with throughout the week and they were all very good.

Yelp
Went to the rooftop restaurant. It did not disappoint. Service was not on, and the drinks were delicious. Food was out if this word.

Yelp
Probably pretty good for Kansas city. Could have been better. Bar staff was overwhelmed. Could not get anyone to turn over my room. Not bad at all, I was just expecting better.

Yelp
Check-in was fine, friendly & accommodating. Dining at the top was underwhelming. I expected a better menu than quesadillas & doughy pizza appetizers. Server was visibly having a bad night. Last night for the pool, what ever. Slept well, nice bed & pillows. Clean room & bathroom. Unfriendly barista couldn't be bothered in the morning, but the Americano was good. Breakfast at the top a little better than dinner. I had one of the benedicts. I accidently left my DL in the room. They did recover it, but have outsourced return service to "LeftMyStuff". Cost me $36 to send what could have been dropped in the mail w/ an envelope & stamp. That was Monday after the Chiefs/Bears game. I have still not received my DL. Would not recommend...

Yelp
Stayed here with a large group for a two day meeting. My room was spacious and immaculate. Everything looked new or recently updated. The meeting spaces were great-- quiet and inviting. I enjoyed getting my morning latte at the bright and airy cafe in the morning. The front desk staff was friendly and patient with me as I had several unusual requests. All of this I sort of expected due to the price of the rooms, but what put it over the top was hanging out at the rooftop bar in the evening. The bar is crazy stocked and they offer all kinds of cocktails and 6-8 beers on draft. Wonderful hospitality and they made sure all 12 or so of us were taken care of and having a great time. Would totally recommend this place if you're planning a meeting or event. It's not your ordinary venue.

Yelp
The Fontaine is a nice boutique hotel. The lobby is beautiful but I feel that's where a lot of the money has went. The entire hotel look exactly like the photos online. There is a restaurant and bar on the 7th floor that is pretty decent. But Jax is next door and it is delicious. The staff is super friendly and were accommodating until the whole parking debacle which will be spoke about later on. The room was extremely spacious there is no complaints there. But the room was dusty, looked as if housekeeping may have gotten a bit slack. The refrigerator in my room does not work and it looks as if someone attempted to fix it at one point (with tape) but their efforts were unless. Its either it get stuck closed or cracked open which is causing a leak! The beds were soft and comfy but the pillows were not my favorite, they were almost flat which does nothing for the neck. The sheets are smooth and were clean. The bathroom came equip with an oversized shower, separate toilet area and a large vanity. Enough room for 2 people to shower and get ready without bumping elbows. The room has shampoo, conditioner and bash wash already in the bathroom and its quality stuff, I typically travel with you own soap and forgot to pack it gave the soap a try and it was worth it. The location is outstanding. Surrounded by shopping and restaurants. There are unlimited options all within walking distance. Definitely a safe area to walk around and explore. The parking is a disaster hence what lead to me giving it 3 stars, the parking alone is a nightmare. Parking is $28 a night for valet and valet is 24 hours, self-parking is $25 per night which I found to be reasonable but I could be wrong. The first night I had a time attempting to get in the parking garage, so did the driver that was before me and it took multiple attempts. I called the intercom to speak someone with who basically tried to tell me I was incompetent. Finally got let just to have issues getting out the next morning. Took me 30 minutes and multiple trips back up to the front desk. Got the run around, ultimately, I forfeited my parking and settled for street parking.

Yelp
Clean and comfortable room. Great location. Cheerful desk personnel. Those are the good points. We didn't use the pool nor eat anywhere onsite. Thin walls. We could hear everyone coming through the hall. Tight parking, especially if you have a van. The height of the parking garage changes significantly after the first (small) level and we couldn't safely park anywhere but the first dozen spaces. The automated parking ticket system failed to work one night and the next morning, the voice on the other side of the intercom seemed to think we were the incompetent ones. Housekeeping did not come everyday even though we requested it and even when we went to the front desk to specifically say that housekeeping hadn't made it to our room yet despite it being late afternoon. We were told it would happen. It did not. The furniture in our room seemed a little beat up.

Yelp
Hubby and I chose to stay at The Fontaine for our night away in KC and were very pleased! We booked a few weeks ahead of time on a good deal, which looking back I'm more thankful for then ever. The hotel was clean, well decorated, and staffed with very friendly folks. They had a rooftop bar that was a great cap to the night. The location is right by the Plaza shopping area and tons of yummy food/drinks options. Parking is under the hotel and validated at the front desk. I did not give it a 5 since it didn't fit that "over the top" feel. A few items in our room were finicky (i.e. nightstand light, and little to no lighting in the room). Nothing huge!

Yelp
Top notch hotel in downtown Kansas City. The staff was very accommodating as I arrived in the morning and they held my stuff for me while my room was being prepared. The bar on the 7th floor had great cocktails and food that it's a must to go to when you stay here. Also I can't forget about the rooms as they were also top notch. When I return to Kansas City, I will be looking forward to coming back here.

Yelp
Very average hotel in terms of quality and amenities. It's a short walk to the plaza, so it's convenient for shopping and meals. The room wasn't particularly clean when we checked in. They also put us in an ADA room without letting us know. That means then shower was even with the floor. Water went everywhere. They also didn't mention that there was only housekeeping every three days. We ran out of soap the first night (they are stored in permanent refillable bottles here). The sink was also clogged the first evening. With no housekeeping,'we only had one set of towels. I rationalized that it was good for the environment, but there are no towel racks for hand or bath towels. One other surprise was parking. They have a lot for $20 per day. If you want to take your car out, you have to choose the $25 per day option. It is also a public lot, so spots marked for the hotel were coned off. However, there's no one there to move the cones or direct you. Should I move the cone? Will I get towed? You just have to park elsewhere or risk towing if your assumptions for the cones were wrong. The only option for onsite breakfast was a pop-up stand. They offer a few choices, but there's one poor dude doing everything. He hand makes everything, so if there's more than one customer in line, he's scrambling. There's a mask mandate in the state for indoor spaces. Half the customers and employees were wearing masks. It was a common theme in the city for mask compliance in all the KC places we went.

Yelp
No hot water Room was dusty Fridge doesn't work Really gone downhill from the last few stays here. Good location, but that's it.

Yelp
Was excited to stay here and completely disappointed. Try a different one or accept that it won't meet your expectations.

Pat C.

Yelp
Our experience was very disappointing. We stayed 6 nights, with no recognition or any special regard for this. The staff was nice enough but service was very lacking. We could have walked out of the restaurant without paying as the waitress never came back to us to see how we were doing or bring our check. No amenities in the rooms and towels were scarce, small and almost threadbare. It seemed like the hotel was cutting cost whenever they could. We stay in a lot of boutique hotels across the country and this was by far the only one I ever wrote a poor review on. I cannot in good conscience recommend this hotel to business associates, friends and family traveling to KC.
google avatar

Mark M.

Yelp
This is the coolest place to call home in KC. The rooms clean and well thought out. The service from moment you arrive to the hotel's restaurant and bars and valet are thoughtful and warm, and more importantly...the overal vibe and ambiance is amazing. When in KC, stay here!!

Yelp
TLDR: The hotel did not deliver the time-sensitive romance-package I ordered to my just-married friends, and when I called to resolve it spent an hour "verifying" the charge and then just telling me they were refunding me and couldn't deliver it. The issue could have easily been resolved, but verifying the exact details of what exactly was ordered for $67 was apparently important enough to mess up a newlywed's post-wedding experience. Details: I was in town for a wedding and chose to go a bit more fancy on the hotel, so we decided to stay at The Fontaine where the bride and groom would also we staying. Generally we felt we had a pretty good stay despite some minor inconveniences (no working fridge, no ice machine, a giant construction project happening on the deck while we were enjoying the pool). As we checked out, we asked the front desk if we could send up a bottle of champagne to the newlyweds. They suggested a special "romance package" of champagne and strawberries and whatnot. We paid separately because we had already closed the bill. As we left at 11am, we asked if she could assure it was delivered asap b/c the couple was in their room at that time and would be leaving later. We were told it would be sent up right away. At 6pm my friend told me she hadn't received any champagne, so I suggested she chat with the front desk. They told her the charge never happened because they couldn't find it on either of our room bills. I called and explained to the supervisor that I had paid separately for it, gave him the credit card info and shared the charge that I was looking at already on my credit card statement. Instead of just handling it then, he told me he would have to verify the charge. I heard nothing for quite a while, so I called back to ask if I could send him a screenshot of my credit card charge to help. He told me he had found the charge, he saw that it matched the cost of the romance package, but he still needed to verify exactly what it was for. (What???) At this point, I was pretty frustrated. I asked him what I could do to help him verify it, offering again to send my credit card charge and telling him that I could vouch for what I ordered, and that it was time sensitive and already 7 hours late. He was very brusk and told me he needed to get off the phone to verify it, and that he'd send it up in 2 minutes once he could do that. I asked him to call me if something didn't work and he assured me he would. I never heard from him, but another half an hour later I received a text from the concierge number at the hotel saying they are unable to make the delivery at a reasonable time. I don't get it. I don't get how the need to verify exactly what a charge you've already confirmed was for when you have 2 couples who are expecting a positive experience. I don't understand how you can't reasonable deliver a bottle of champagne to a room. Honestly, we got better service at the cheap hotel we stayed in for the next portion of our trip, and our friend now is so upset that she chose this for the nights following her wedding. Was it really worth $67 (that I have been charged, by the way) to mess up someone's wedding stay?

Josh Y.

Yelp
The building itself is cool and this review is only about my experience. Check in was great, staff was super helpful and very friendly. When we got to our room we noticed the shower was broken. No big deal, maintenance is a real thing. The maintenance guy came up, said we should get a new room....then he left. So we had to both call down and go to the front desk to get a room with a working shower so we could get ready and meet friends for a dinner reservation. All in all it took about an hour to get this sorted when we just moved one room down. Again, annoying, but it's not THAT big of a deal. Fast forward to after dinner, the entire hotel REEKS of weed smoke, like it seemed like it was coming through the vents. When I mentioned it to the front desk they said "well it is legal in this state"......yeah...no shit. I'm not pissed that people smoke weed, but this is a no smoking hotel! Also my cold brew from the coffee shop was $5 and poured out of a plastic bottle of concentrate and it tasted like it. I had to go to the coffee bar because the coffee maker in the room didn't work (shocker). So I would say, for the price tag of $350/night this place is definitely not worth it. Boutique hotels should be better than this.

Yelp
The design and decor is an easy 5stars. Walking distance to food and shopping. Very nice hotel and area.

Yelp
Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Fontaine. The lobby and rooftop restaurant are beautiful. The pool is teeny tiny, it's really like standing room only in that pool. My room was lovely. The best part of the room was the huge shower with the rainfall showerhead. That shower was at least double the size of a normal shower in most hotels. The bathroom vanity was also beautiful with great lighting for makeup application. The wifi was nice and fast. The only negative of the room was that the plugs near my bed did not work so I couldnt charge my phone on the nightstand. Also I wished the other lamps in the room had the outlet built into the lamp for easy charging, but they didnt. I really enjoyed the breakfast in the rooftop restaurant. They offered a buffet for $16 on the day I was there. They had bacon, scrambled eggs, french toast, biscuits, gravy, sausage on the hot side and they had a variety of fruit and yogurt on the cold side. I thought it was well worth it to stay here for the price (booked last minute for $164 for a king room that included a breakfast voucher).

Yelp
Great location. Effortless check-in and out, parking was funky but adequate. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Had a quick, two night stay at The Fontaine and was pleased with the experience. Located in the heart of Kansas City's Country Club Plaza, The Fontaine offers comfortable accommodations at reasonable prices in a chic, modern environment. What I loved: +The service was lovely throughout my stay. Words of welcome as I entered, doors were opened, smiles were given...the people who work here were an absolute delight during my stay. +The room/bed was wonderfully comfortable. I typically don't sleep terribly well at hotels. I slept like an absolute dream here. It was amazing! Beyond that, the lobby was comfortable and beautifully appointed and the location is divine. For my purposes, The Fontaine came through in stylish fashion. Get to it!

Kiara C.

Yelp
This hotel is ran by the worst hotel manager I have ever witnessed. There was an altercation and do you think he spoke to both parties to understand what happened? Not at all, instead he grimaced and laughed at the fact that we were upset he was kicking us all out for no good reason. The police were called, and even then he still had no remorse for what was happening in his hotel. When the police showed, he didnt want to show them the camera recordings or anything. He told them he handled the situation but that is no where to be true. Since the altercation had to do with race, it seemed like he didnt want to get involved whatsoever.

Yelp
Great hotel, clean rooms, friendly staff, fun pool area, easy location. Stayed two nights and throughly enjoyed our stay.

Yelp
From the beginning my experience was terrible. When I came to check-in, the front desk gal was snarky and made me feel like I was a huge inconvenience. She was restocking the cooler and she asked if she could help me, when I said I needed to check in she just rolled her eyes and sighed. It was only 8 pm! It's not like it's the middle of the night. She did not tell me about any of the amenities, the restaurant, the gym, the pool, nothing. I had to ask about parking and she scoffed again saying 'oh, you want to park here?'. Yes! I'm here for 4 nights! The hotel itself is beautiful and the rooms are nice. My room though made a lot of weird noises. Like uncomfortably loud noises in the middle of the night. I've never slept so poorly in a nice hotel before. This place just left a bad taste in my mouth. I had beautiful huge windows but one of them looked directly into a hallway by the elevator. Everyone can see into that room if the curtains aren't closed. The lighting in the room isn't great so it was kind of lame that I needed to keep my curtains closed for privacy. For a "boutique" hotel, it felt anything but. Someone else mentioned that the TV's don't really work. This is true! The Chrome Cast is a joke. I'd rather have a remote where I can change the source and use my own devices. Oh... last thing, they charge sales tax on parking. I've never seen that before. It might have been cheaper to just pay at the booth each time!

Yelp
Oof. Just checked in..... dust everywhere in the room...walls aren't even painted and the cabinet literally hanging on by a thread. If you want luxury...avoid.

Yelp
Pool was closed when we arrived, asked about the next morning and was told it would be open no problem. Still closed the next morning. We were rushed out of the room before check out time on top of that. Location close to the Plaza was great, that's about it.

Yelp
We stayed here on our wedding night two years ago this week, and it was a great experience. We did unfortunately have to wait a little bit for our hotel transportation to arrive at our venue to pick us up but the hotel itself was beautiful, clean, and the breakfast was delicious. The pool is beautiful but we did not get in it as it was cold outside and we were exhausted, but they do have a nice sitting area there and the bar is pretty awesome too.

Yelp
This is a really cute hotel. It's modern without feeling cold. The rooms are a very good size. Each king room has a king bed, small sofa and desk in it. The bathroom showers are massive. Honestly it's weird how big they are. They take up about half of the bathroom. They stop by to clean your room one time a day. If you have the sign out or are in your room they will not come back to give you towels or empty trash. Some days they don't even come to your room to tidy up. We stayed here 4 nights and only one day was our room refreshed with towels. Two of the days we were gone the whole day and didn't put out the sign. So we obviously just got skipped over. I had to call down to the front desk to ask someone to bring some. Another strange thing is they make the bed upside down. They put the tags of the sheets up by your face. I had to remake the bed so tags weren't scratching me at night The gym is tiny but has a good amount of items. They have a few free weights, cable machine, treadmill, elliptical and a bike. Only one person can use the free weights at a time. They have a 7th floor pool that is nice on warm days. They sometimes serve drinks and food out by the pool. I say sometimes only because getting a waitress to serve you can sometimes be a battle. I had to go in to the bar a few times to order because no one came out to check on us. The pool itself is nice. It's like a mini lap pool. I think it's about 4 ft deep across. Overall a nice hotel. I would stay here again if in the area.

Yelp
For a higher end Hotel, we were quite disappointed. The staff were friendly and the rooms clean, but corners were cut in every way. We stayed in a King Balcony room. The balcony was big enough for one chair at best. The room was extremely small. The mini fridge did not work. and the one pair of slippers they had looked like something they would give out in a prison environment. The lighting was very poor, however the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was huge! Just as big or bigger than the actual room. The double shower was big enough for 4 people easily. However, they got cheap again on the toilet paper... very similar to the crappy stuff you would find in a public restroom. Not a completely awful hotel, but for the money we spent, I'd recommend staying somewhere else.

Yelp
This place needs to be reported to the Better Business Bureau. First the king room was tiny, with blood splatter on the wall in the bathroom. Parking is ridiculously overpriced at $25 per night. But the real criminal thing was at checkout my total bill was $160 with a price breakdown for taxes, fees, and parking. 5 days later I see they charged my credit card $240. When I called I was given no explanation and given the run around. I've stayed in hundreds of hotels and this place is probably one of the worsts. It's all in the details. At first glance it looks like a high end establishment but once you take a closer look you can see it for what it truly is. A SCAM!!! Stay away from here at all costs.

Yelp
Hotel was very nice but I called room service and asked for a blanket and got a hospital blanket

Yelp
I had hopes for this boutique hotel. I was completely underwhelmed and here's why...... I booked upfront online a few weeks in advance a junior suite. My fairly average room rate was $541 per day - and booked for three nights = roughly $1,623. When I checked into my "junior suite", it was nothing more than a regular/standard hotel room. I have been in the hotel/hospitality industry for over 20 years. When we advertise a junior suite it is indeed what we advertise. This was a complete bait and switch in my opinion. I asked the front desk if there was a possible mistake with the room they put us in, and I she told me no - confirmed I was in the correct room. I told her that this is by far the smallest junior suite I have ever seen. She just looked at me, finally she said "sorry." Zero guest service attempt to make it right. The website said they had a great rooftop bar - when we arrived it was closed. There was a sign that said under renovations, however the big sign by the elevators said it there were holiday parties being held in the rooftop bar. Management should have listed this on the website. While sitting in the lobby, I heard another couple checking in, he asked which way to the bar and was told it was closed due to renovations- he was furious. He also said it would have been nice to know upfront, which I agree. Service isn't very good from what I experienced- I had issues with housekeeping- when in the shower I discovered there wasn't any soap.... frustrating. I left my room around 10am and was gone all day, came back to find my room the same as I left it - no housekeeping. I called the front desk, and let them know that I will be back and would like someone to clean the room and change out towels and leave soap etc.... but they forgot the toilette paper. Yes. Every room needs this! Eye-roll. Last, they left dirty pillow cases on the night stand next to the bed. Overall, it's a small property, it looks nice-see my pics. However if you want a bar it's closed. It's way over priced- would have paid more than $240 a night, but less with the service issues or the lack of caring.

Yelp
My husband and I are very disappointed on how they handled us. We booked this place on agoda and came straight to the hotel, we checked in and the staff said that our reservation wasn't until 4pm, we weren't told this on the website we booked, but it was fine she got us checked in. The staff treated us really poorly, but we gave her the benefit of the doubt because it was during witching hour. But she just kept on being rude to us when we asked for help. It was like she was bothered. We book this place for one night from nov 4 - nov 5 and the check out time was 11:00am. We literally got kicked out the same day, we didn't even get to reach to sat nov 5 like wtf? The hospitality here is terrible. Everything about this hotel is a scam, it's not worth booking. You'll be better off booking down the street.

Yelp
Stay elsewhere... -No hot water in the shower -Loud renovations, hammering etc, but of course they didn't tell you ahead of time. -'Manager' on vacation, and no assistant manager to speak to. -Front desk understaffed, and rude when I asked if they could quickly print out my folio on check-out. -Front desk doesn't answer the phone, and has 'mailbox full, please try later'. If I was In charge it would run like a finely-tuned clock. It's amazing how poorly run some of these places are.

Yelp
Wow! The Hotel is amazing. Great people to meet you up front and love the interior design. Went out to the bar/restaurant and was greeted right away welcomed with a smile. Bartenders were very friendly and gave some good recommendations on food as well. Helen and Rori were amazing!!

Yelp
This should have been a lovely stay for the cost per night. I was awakened every 10 minutes all night long by clanking noises in the room's ventilation system. I called at 3 am and they did not even offer to move me to a different room. Finally, at 5 am, I just left and began my 9-hour drive after getting NO sleep. I left a message for the manager to call me and then left two phone messages on the manager's voicemail. I also filled out a survey they emailed me and I have never heard a peep from anyone. Unacceptable.

Yelp
I wanted to simply receive a copy of my hotel bill via email and after leaving several messages on their contact us page and being left on hold for 30 minutes twice while trying to call them I must say avoid this place at all cost. Terrible service...you can do better by going down the street.

Yelp
It's a beautiful boutique hotel with a great bar and restaurant but this hotel gets 3 stars because of the bathroom. Our bathroom was very spacious but even though there was ample room, there were no shelves or counters for personal items - they don't even have towel racks, so the towels took up most of the space around the sink. There were 2 towel hooks (oh joy!) but no towel racks to get them out of the way. My make up bag, brushes, husband's Dopp Kit, various toiletries, etc had to be stored on the floor underneath the sink. That's disgusting and IMO unacceptable, especially at $270/night plus taxes. A storage counter underneath the sink and a towel storage area above the toilet would easily solve the problem. We may go back to the bar someday but no more overnights for us until that situation changes.

Yelp
First of all, this is an absolutely lovely venue. The décor was very obviously well thought out and meticulously selected. Secondly, the staff are very friendly, capable and helpful. The staff at the front desk seemed to be very efficiently getting people checked in while being friendly and personable. The restaurant staff were friendly, offered helpful suggestions and gave very prompt and attentive service. Additionally, the food and drinks were good.

Yelp
I've never written a hotel review on Yelp, but I'm currently staying at The Fontaine and felt compelled to write a review. The bed is super comfortable and the valet process has been nice, but otherwise I wouldn't stay here again. There has been no hot water at all, cannot take a warm shower. There is no water in the room and they will not bring you any. I was told I can drink water from the bathroom sink. They also have no room service. We were told there would be a bartender by the pool at 2 and there never was, just zero staff present. The pool was very small, limited furniture and not that clean. Wouldn't recommend staying here if in the KC area.

Yelp
Instagram versus reality: a hotel that looks great in photos, but not so much in real life, let me explain... The Fontaine is located on the outskirts of Country Club circle; if you want to go to the Plaza, know that it's not walkable. Ostensibly, the hotel has a free shuttle (a Tesla!) but like instagram versus reality, it was never available to be used (but plenty of people took pics of themselves getting out of it at the hotel). At first glance, the room looks nice, in a Lamps Plus type of way: gray, plastic-coated chrome-like light fixtures, etc. But staying at the hotel three nights, I can remove the veneer of filters and tell you what to really expect: - bed is comfortable and room is quite - HVAC is slow to react, take 8-12 hours to get the room to the desired temp - on Instagram, you'll see the rooftop pool. In reality: the space was booked during my first night, so I couldn't even use it. The next day, I realized the pool is open to the public; so it's so packed it's like MTV spring break: everyone in the area comes to it and hotel guests have no space. - the duvet had stains (see photo) - the mini fridge in the roof had food (Greek yogurt) from the person in the stay prior - when I was finally able to use the pool, there is a huge dog running around off leash. Bonus: when anyone would open the door, the dog would run through the restaurant and across the restaurant. It's off the chain, literally. - pool hours are ostensibly from 7am-10pm: but at 10am the furniture wasn't set up and at 9pm there were no towels So The Fontaine: like a pic on Instagram, you may "like" it. But like a pic on Instagram, it's not what it seems. PS: shoutout to the person at the front desk, when I called and told them about the dog off leash, before I could finish my sentence, she cut me off and said "we are a pet friendly hotel". If they want dogs to run around the common areas, maybe they can change the name to Hotel For Dogs. Stream it on Netflix if you want.

Yelp
I left my airpods in the hotel room and called no more than an hour after leaving/checking out, asking if I could get them. They rudely told me housekeeping was already in the room and that they would get back to me shortly. I didn't hear back, so I called back again later in the day, and all they said to file a claim. It's extremely disappointing that they were not honest. Don't trust leaving anything there.

Yelp
Another gorgeous location! I ate at the rooftop bar here with some friends and the food was incredible. The dining area has a beautiful view over west plaza and there's also an outside patio dining area with an infiniti pool. The menu is pretty pricey, but that's exactly what I would expect when dining at a hotel. I have yet to stay at the hotel, but the staff has always been very polite to me at the entrance and in the dining area!

Yelp
Accommodation is first! Freaking gorgeous lobby and fixtures. I really liked the feel of this place. It went all the way through the building into the rooms. The breakfast was also really good too. Make sure to try the bagels. They will toast them for you. :D Valet service was great. Those guys are quick. Front desk could use a little pep in their step. But for the most part friendly and attentive. The Fontaine was a great experience. I can't wait to come back.

Yelp
We did a quick adults only overnight while momma was in town watching the kids so we wanted to pick a nice hotel where we really felt fancy. The Fontaine did the trick. The staff was excellent. The room was spotless and perfect. The pillows left something to be desired but I know I'm quite particular about my pillow preference so I don't hold that against the hotel. The parking garage underneath was so helpful. You do have to pay for parking but the in and out feature was helpful for us since we left for dinner and then brunch the next morning. We would stay here again in an instant.

Yelp
I'm not a person who normally takes time to review a place , unless it's really good or really bad. Unfortunately, this hotel has proven to be only a pretty picture. I feel it's a total waste of money, and I absolutely will not stay here again. All the pictures are so nice, but I felt they're a poor representation of the actual experience. Everything was fine until we got to our room. We got settled in for the night, and started noticing how hot it was.....but the thermostat was set at 67! The beds were advertised as queen, but are most definitely full size. Hard for two adults to sleep in, and not comfortable at all. The pillows were not bad. The worst part though......the bathroom!!!! I about died! There was mold and nastiness all over the bathroom. I really could've stayed in a $50/night hotel and it probably would've been cleaner! Nasty!! Please save your money. Don't stay here!
