We had a very pleasant stay at this wonderful Bed and Breakfast. During our 3 day stay we really enjoyed the breakfast prepared by Tamara & Rose . Our room was clean and comfortable. Location was very convenient. We will definitely come back !

The bed and breakfast is located on a quiet street just up from the harbor. Parking is easy on street parking. Walk up 6 stairs to the front porch. Lots of places to sit and enjoy the area. Get your code and enter the house. I stayed in the suite. I entered the door that said entrance and saw the rest of the house. A lovely family room, dining table and kitchen. Look on the blackboard for any important information about your stay. Perfect. I entered my suite to find a little cake dish on the table. A perfect way to welcome me to the B&B. My suite was very comfortable decorated in mid modern century furniture and other eclectic pieces. The kitchen was a perfect size. The back bedroom led to the backyard which I did sit outside and enjoy. I would recommend this bed and breakfast. I really wanted to experience the Hudson River sunset cruise but it wasn't opened on a Tuesday night. I went to Armadillo for dinner (on a recommendation from the owner of the Forsyth B&B) which is next to the B&B. Perfect spot for not having to get in your car and drive. Enjoy your next stay at the B&B.

Tamara’s B&B up in Kingston, NY was so charming and had so much character. The soft jazz that was playing after we self checked into the inn was inviting as well as the atmosphere of the space. The room we stayed in was beautiful, the ceiling was slanted with wood beams and the bathroom had the cutest wallpaper. The backyard and front porch were inviting and we actually ate our breakfast in both spaces during our stay. Speaking of breakfast wow, Tamara outdoes herself with her cooking. My friend had a nut and fish allergy and she was able to cater to her and create a separate breakfast to fit her allergy. Every dish we had was delicious from salmon to vegetable egg quiche and breakfast quesadillas. She was very kind and hospitable during the entire stay. The location is great because it is near the Hudson River and just under 2 hours from the city. Thanks again for the lovely stay, I’ll definitely be recommending the Forsyth to anyone looking for a quick getaway up in the Hudson Valley!

We rented The Forsyth B&B Inn & Barn for our wedding weekend from Thursday until Sunday. We wanted a space big enough for both of our immediate families to stay together for the duration of the weekend. This spot was absolutely perfect. The interior decor is very tastefully done, and goes so well with the existing charm of the space. The artwork selection is fabulous, and there is so much attention to detail that you can't help but appreciate every nook and corner in this space. All of the rooms and bathrooms were very spacious, and the outdoor spaces (porch and back patio) were an added bonus. We held our intimate ceremony in the barn, which even without any added decor was a perfect backdrop for it. The barn has a sound system, a bar setup, bathroom, and loft (which we used as the groom's getting ready space), and it was absolutely perfect. The barn doors open to the street which along with the skylight provided wonderful natural lighting. We also held a post wedding brunch the day after in the barn. Tamara catered this brunch, and WOW, the food was incredible! The quiche, scones, pastries, salad, and everything that Tamara prepared was absolutely delicious, and our guests were all raving about the food. The brunch was also set up beautifully with very sweet labels and tiered displays. From the initial contact throughout the weekend of our wedding, Tamara was so kind, very accommodating, answered any and all questions, and made our wedding weekend even more spectacular. We are so happy that we found the Forsyth B&B, as it was the perfect setting for this special occasion. Many, many thanks! Highly recommend!

Google
The Forsyth is the best B&B we have ever been to. Our family stayed here the weekend of our wedding. We actually rented out the whole house including the apartment the owner lives in. Tamara has redefined the word cozy. The rooms are spotless, comfortable and a cross between rustic and modern. The bathrooms have been fully upgraded. The common areas are what we hope our home will look like someday. The breakfast is wonderfully unique creating a special experience for guests staying together at the B&B. Not to mention, the food is perfection. We had some of the best breakfasts in our lives during our stay. The scones and cookies that Tamara makes are unreal. The backyard is so relaxing during the day or night. I highly recommend you stop reading this review and book immediately.

Had a great stay! The owner, Tamara couldn’t have been more hospitable. A home and neighborhood rich with history was designed and decorated beautifully with mid century modern interior design. All the quaintness of a bnb without the tacky decorations. Our suite opened back to a lush garden/patio and their converted barn that you can have events at or stay in too. The breakfast was a work of art in of itself, make sure you stay for it before walking around the town along the historic waterfront. Definitely would recommend and would love to stay again!

Lovely rooms. Comfy spacious and pristine. Great amenities. Friendly gracious hostess who happens to be an exemplary chef. Breakfast was fresh July seasonal fruit with eggs, avocados homemade scones and light cucumber tomato salad. Afternoon yummy peanut Butter cookies. Sunny flower fragrant backyard and welcoming front porch. We will return to this welcoming inn!!

My husband & I stayed at the Forsyth to celebrate my birthday. Upon our arrival we found they had left a small strawberry cake in our room! That thoughtful touch was so lovely, and the hosts did not disappoint from there. Both breakfasts were delicious, the room was stylish and comfortable, and the location was great for exploring the Kingston waterfront. Thank you & we hope to stay again!

Yelp
According to the reviews on Yelp, The Forsyth is the place to stay. From all of the rooms we decided upon the Barn Loft. Perhaps, we didn't choose wisely... OR perhaps we were misled. The owners should be more forthcoming. Although the accommodations were extremely clean, the layout left a lot to be desired. As you enter the fist level, you encounter a vast, empty space that appears to be used for events, as evidenced a large folding table against one of the walls, and the patio lighting on the ceiling. The ONLY bathroom is also on this level. (Although nightlights are strategically placed, bathroom use in the middle of the night is at your own peril.) The extremely small shower would be a major challenge for anyone with claustrophobic issues. No vanity, just a sink. A small makeshift kitchen area with a small bar counter and a couple of stools sit right outside the bathroom. The "extremely narrow" spiral staircase leads upstairs to a sitting area and the bed. Although there is a safety disclaimer about mobility issues, children, and pets, the staircase is clearly NOT suitable for anyone of a robust nature. Although there was a TV, it was disconnected and on the floor. We had to move the desk and place the TV on it in order to see it. Oh, and no closets, just wardrobe racks. Fortunately, my husband and I are both agile seniors and our stay was only one night. For a longer stay, we assume the main house would be the way to go. The Barn Loft is better suited for youngsters who don't know any better or for private events.

Yelp
What a lovely bed and breakfast. The rooms are comfortable and clean with nice touches like a carafe of water on the dresser. The owner is so warm and an amazing chef. Multiple course breakfast that's sooo good. And homemade cookies in the evening.

Yelp
Another beautiful stay at The Forsyth! My husband and I were lucky enough to stay in the barn loft and It was stunning! It was an amazing place stay in, so beautiful and comfortable! Loved the view of the garden below and could smell breakfast being made in the morning. Tamara is a wonderful hostess who always makes us feel comfortable and at home.

Yelp
What a wonderful place to play In the Hudson Valley. This is the best B&B I've ever stayed in. It is located right by the cute and historic Rondout Creek area in Kingston. You can walk to restaurants from here (we went to Amardillo's just a few feet away). In the house, there is a beautiful common area, complete with board games, wonderful music and places to sit and even a bar that you're allowed to use. Tamara even baked chocolate chip, peanut butter cookies for guests, which filled the house with the best smell. We stayed in the Erden room, which was great because it had its own bathroom (not all the rooms do). Bring a hair dryer if you need one because the room might not have one. Breakfast was also wonderful. We started with ricotta fritters and then had a quiche, with potato latkes and drizzle of pesto, followed up with a fresh fruit bowl. It felt like eating at a high quality restaurant.

Yelp
We stayed in the barn loft, the space was very interesting. The downstairs had an awesome PA system which we were able to connect to our Bluetooth. They also had a ping pong table. We had a small fridge and we were provided with some bottled water, tonic, and sodas. There is also an electric kettle, a coffee maker, sweeteners, tea bags, coffee, half n half and mugs. Downstairs space is a bit cold, and has a concrete floor. Make sure to bring slippers! A spiral staircase takes you to the "loft" area which was much cozier and inviting. We had an electric fireplace, and the wood walls and lighting was nice and warm. The mattress was a bit harder than what we're used to but not terribly uncomfortable. The breakfasts were great and made with a lot of thought and care. Tamara was extremely accommodating and communicative during our stay. We had everything we needed and really enjoyed our stay. We really appreciated Tamara observing covid guidelines, and we felt exceptionally safe during our stay.

Yelp
Stayed with my husband on Halloween weekend and we felt at home the minute that we walked through the front door. COVID considering, we felt very safe. Both private and common facilities were beautifully curated and impeccably clean. The best thing about waking up in the morning was the delicious and memorable breakfasts that Tamara, (the host/innkeeper/chef) graciously offered. We highly recommend staying here rain or shine. Kingston is especially gorgeous in the fall, though.

Yelp
There is so much character and warmth here - the food, Tamara, the rooms. Everything about The Forsyth is exceptional. Tamara is kind, funny and generous. She is also a very gifted cook - the breakfasts and snacks were just unbelievable. Unbelievable. Some of the best bites I've ever had.

Yelp
We spent three nights at the Forsyth. We were impressed with the unique and delicious breakfasts. I see why they are award winning. The rooms were spotless. No little task in a house built in the 1830's, The features, such as the showers were modern with no shortage of warm water in the morning. The location for all the activities of the mid Hudson Valley was great. Tamara, the owner was very thoughtful and caring to make sure we were comfortable and even helped with the luggage, This was a great experience.

Cerise G.

Yelp
This is a wonderful place to stay! It's classy and cozy, with every need accounted for. Tamara was an extremely kind and generous host, and an amazing cook. She went out of her way to make vegan versions of her delicious breakfasts just for me! Top top notch across the board.

Yelp
I held my 40th birthday party here. It was amazing. I am local to Kingston and searched for a venue for several months. I had my party in 2022 and many venues in town or surrounding towns were booked solid because of delayed pandemic weddings and other celebrations that were rebooked. I wanted to have my party in our town but needed a bigger space than our house. I happened to see photos of an event held at the Barn at the Forsyth on an event venue site and it was exactly what I was looking for. We rented the barn - which included use of the the garden for Friday evening until Sunday morning- and an upstairs loft for sleeping. We were allowed to have guests stay in the barn Friday- Sunday morning. It was perfect for a family of out of town guests. Catering is available onsite and if you want to serve alcohol - you have to get the event insurance for your event. I had an incredible party where we ate, danced, and laughed for hours. It was perfect Highlights: Super low key, detail orientated and helpful on site staff. Marla was great. She helped coordinate everything on site prior to our arrival. The barn was a stunning space. It's a converted barn event space. Simple layout with cement floor and a small bar area. It has a sink, microwave, and coffee maker. Theres also a very cool retro looking cooler we used for drinks. You can make the space your own. The garden is perfect. There are tables and chairs with a few umbrellas. The flowers were in full bloom back there. Perfect! There is a bathroom for guests. On the first floor of the barn. There is a sound system that we used all night and it was amazing. Two tables were available in the space where we put all of our food and drinks. I appreciated that there was no other furniture so we could use the space how we wanted to. We wanted the floor space for dancing and it worked perfectly. Notes: Parking in Kingston on the best of days in a hot mess. There was construction on Abeel Street which made things somewhat worse. Kingston is an old city with steep hills, one way roads and tight corners. There is very limited parking on West Union which is the entrance that all guest not staying in the B & B should use. Being local- we were prepared- we made suggestions of where people should park and made note that anyone who needed walking assistance should be dropped off at the west union entrance. Problem Solved. We made sure to clear out the guests from the Garden by 10p so that we wouldn't violate the noise ordinance. You can have guests stay inside the barn space after 10 but they can't go out to the garden after 10. Worked out fine.

Yelp
Thank You for making my staycation special! Even with everything going on, we had plenty to sightsee and places to go eat. The area is beautiful, it was a charming time of year with all the leaves and Autumn changes. Kingston itself is charming and historic as is the Forsyth itself. They had a contactless self-check in system that was great. But the innkeepers are nearby in case you need absolutely anything. The decor is modern to balance the nearly two hundred year old house. Everything was customized. Windows were left open to let in the cool autumn air. I chose a room with a bath tub so I could soak at the end of the day. Plenty of towels and blankets. Very comfortable bed. It was a little awkward having breakfast in the room but it was wonderful. Each day we had a tray overflowing with bowls of fruit, cups of orange juice, a baked treat of some sort and a gourmet main course. We had our own carafe of coffee and a set of mugs. It's worth a stay for the breakfast alone. There is ample to do in the area if you enjoy the outdoors and fine arts. Street parking was no issue. On our last day, we were able to shop at a farmers market in Kingston before going on a train ride. I really had a great time and there's so much to enjoy in the Hudson Valley if you make time for it.

Yelp
The Forsyth B&B is the best I've ever been to! It is beautiful, modern with a rustic flare, and such a comfortable place to be. The owner is a fantastic cook, and takes requests (we asked for vegetarian breakfast, which she happily obliged). She also prepared tasty sweet treats for all of the guests. There are games, a bar where you can fix yourself a night cap, and other friendly guests escaping the NYC area. The owner was nice and we felt so relaxed and happy there. We will definitely stay again!

Yelp
THE BEST. The Forsyth is like the most glamorous ( and stress free) home away from home, if your home has gourmet food, impeccably made beds, and the coolest mix of design on the planet. Tamara is the kindest host. She was very attentive with us but didn't make us feel like we were obligated to sit and talk with her all morning. We wanted to engage but also kind of be left alone and it all just fell into place exactly that way. The little details are never overlooked (I have stayed here twice now). In the summer there are beautiful herbs scattered onto the food, even the fruit cup which is served in the most beautiful antique cocktail glass. When we stayed in the fall our room was so cozy, she put an extra blanket in our room for us when she knew we were coming back from a hike. I CRAVE The Forsyth. I want to come here whenever I have time off. UPDATE: I recently attended an event in their new barn for the LGBTQ center. I thought it was incredible that they donated their space. They didn't tell me that someone else did. The barn is so elegant and beautiful. It is spacious and I thought it was really cool that you could rent out a little spot to stay inside of it upstairs. As in my previous visit, Tamara The owner, could not have been more gracious and lovely. This is an amazing and unique event space and I had a blast.

Yelp
I almost hate to write this review, as I wish I could be the only guest at The Forsyth. I have stayed twice, and both visits have been excellent. Pros: 1) Tamara's hospitality is first rate. She makes you feel welcome and at home the moment you walk in the door. 2) Tamara's three course breakfast is all locally sourced, and flat out amazing. She is a terrific cook, and ready to accommodate any special food requirements, but you won't want to order anything other than what she serves because it's so good. 3) Room quality, and general cleanliness is first class. There are only 4 rooms in this small inn, but they are very nice and well appointed. 4) Bed quality is excellent. The Forsyth is only a year old as of this writing, so everything is still fresh and new. 5) WiFi service is strong and consistent throughout the property. 6) Location is terrific. Close enough to everything Kingston has to offer, but on a nice side street. 7) Walking distance to the restaurants of the Roundout area. Cons: Not much really: 1) Electronics outlets. This is a bit picky, and something which can easily be improved. All contemporary hotels should have plenty of outlets conveniently placed for charging the full assortment of electronics we all travel with these days. 2) Pillows. I found the bed pillows too hard. Picky again, I know. Nor did I ask if Tamara had a softer one. Next time I stay I will ask. 3) Parking is on the street in front of the inn. Both times I stayed there were spots right outside of the front door, but private parking would be nice. Enjoy The Forsyth, but please don't fill it up the next time I want to stay there. :-)

Yelp
Spent one night there, wish we could've stayed longer! The room was very nice, comfortable bed. Tamara, the owner and Innkeeper, is also the chef who made the most delicious breakfast consisting of homemade muffins, waffles and good strong coffee for breakfast. Home made fudge was also available. Great location and hospitality, can't wait to go back, just to have Tamara's scrumptious breakfast! Also, dog friendly which is a huge plus.

Yelp
Forsyth Bed and Breakfast is absolutely fantastic. The hosts are wonderfully friendly and the breakfasts are better than most restaurants! Our room was spacious and the backyard and front porch provide nice spaces to relax. Book your stay here and you will have a wonderful time!

Yelp
My girlfriend and I spent a lovely night here last week. The building has been inventively restored, with an appealing combination of old and new, cozy and clean. It's worth checking out even if you're not staying there. Tamara was a fantastic host, and it was fun to chat with the other guests over breakfast (which was delicious). Strongly recommend!

Yelp
We stayed in the Erden room on a cold late January night. Toasty warm room, very stylish. Tamara is a great host and very knowledgeable about the town, restaurants, etc. The location is very good, with several nice restaurants a very short walk, including a mexican restaurant next door. The house is beautiful with a warm & inviting living room which includes a complimentary stocked mini bar--nice touch. Very comfortable bed, a heating system which makes makes no noise, followed by a delicious breakfast--all good.

kristi c.

Yelp
Lovely stay. The house is beautiful, Tamara and Charles are fantastic. Tamara is an amazing cook. It's a great spot for exploring the area--or just enjoying a glass of wine in the living room. Each guest room is different, all are nice (I peeked).

Shev L.

Yelp
I love this B & B! Welcoming and warm surroundings, beautiful, comfortable rooms and absolutely spectacular, delicious breakfast. I have stayed in many B & B's over the years. I now have a new favorite. I will definitely be back to the The Forsyth. OMG, I almost forgot to tell you that Tamara is a wonderful host. She makes you feel like family. I was spending a night on business, but plan to return for a relaxing weekend with my wife soon.

A H.

Yelp
Tamara has created a wonderland of relaxation at this beautifully decorated b&b. Such immense attention to detail! We had a great night of sleep in the most comfortable bed and then got to enjoy a delicious breakfast. There is no better place to stay in Kingston than the Forsyth!

Megan M.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here this past weekend for my birthday and loved it. We booked the Amelia room, which was very clean and comfortable and had a really nice aesthetic. The bedroom has a small desk and sitting area with a comfy arm chair and ottoman. The bathroom has all new fixtures and really cool vintage wallpaper on one wall. The whole space felt cozy and airy at the same time. Tamara was a great host and we enjoyed her breakfasts. The inn is a short walk from cute shops and a few restaurants on the waterfront, and there are even more cool places a short cab ride away in the Stockade district. Great choice for a weekend getaway, and very affordable for the quality of the accommodations.

Tashieka D.

Yelp
Stayed here for a weekend getaway for my birthday and what a relaxing weekend it was! So happy to have met Tamara. Loved this home in every way. The room was amazing. The breakfast was scrumptious and definitely try the French press coffee. She truly gets to know your likes and dislikes as accommodates best she can. Hope to make this an annual birthday spot. Thanks Tamara!

Edward M.

Yelp
A wonderful b & b. The hosts are warm and lovely. The room was large and super clean and chic And the breakfast. Omg. I was speechless Really a great weekend We will return. And bring friends

Roz B.

Yelp
What an amazing experience. From the moment we walked in, the owner, Tamara, was warm and welcoming. The house is calm and serene and beautifully appointed with midcentury furniture and antique pieces. Lots of wood and brick. Much of the original detail of the house is in tact (like wood beams), and swanky new touches have been added (our room, the James, had a bathtub next to the bed!). We had such a great sleep here and awoke to the most elaborate (and delicious) breakfast--vegetable frittata, sausages, warm bread, yogurt with granola and fresh fruit, a just made banana upside-down cake, French press coffee...all made in-house by Tamara. And it's located on the cutest street near Kingston's historic waterfront. Such a charming experience!

Barbara D.

Yelp
This was my second visit to The Forsyth and it was so wonderful to be back! I was warmly greeted by Tamara who is an incredible innkeeper - professional, friendly and caring! I had been looking forward to those three course gourmet breakfasts and the food was exceptional yet again. I really have never experienced a morning meal such as these at any other B&B. Definitely AAA+!!! This time I stayed in the Erden that has a bed that is so comfortable I could hardly get out of it, but the morning aromas from the kitchen got me moving! The deep tub was a total pleasure and a special treat and I just love that gorgeous tile work. The room was very spacious and has an additional day bed which is a very nice feature. It's so nice to be able to control the heat and AC which I have rarely experienced at other B&B's. The location is a short walk from restaurants and shops and not far from Woodstock and many other small and interesting towns. I'll be returning soon and in the summer will rent kayaks on the waterfront nearby. Can't wait! This is an amazing find and definitely a home away from home.

Katia L.

Yelp
We're just back from an absolutely glorious stay at this wonderful new B&B, which one could also call a small inn (four bedrooms and the innkeepers live in separate quarters). My husband and I both came away feeling that it was the nicest B&B/inn we'd ever stayed at. Casually elegant, comfortable, with plenty of room to relax in groups or to curl up alone with a book. A lovely front verandah, with tables and chairs, overlooking the quiet street. Right in town, it's easy to walk to restaurants, shops and the waterfront. Kind of perfect, actually, especially when you add to the list the delicious three course breakfast that comes with the price of your room. The innkeeper, Tamara, who trained at the French Culinary Institute, and her husband Charles couldn't be lovelier. I have found my new favorite place to stay to recharge my batteries!

Pamela M.

Yelp
My mother, almost 4 year old and I had a WONDERFUL stay at The Forsyth. Tamara and Charles did an impeccable job restoring this old oyster tavern on Abeel Street in Kingston. The rooms are all warm and sunny, bright and cozy. The beds are amazing and so comfortable. The main sitting area is lovely to sit and chat, or relax and read (or in our case, play with Legos and Paw Patrol toys). They have paid attention to every detail and our stay was divine. My favorite part was sitting in the living room with a glass of wine and a platter of cheese and meat before dinner. Tamara is a trained chef, and her breakfasts were so so delicious and enough to keep you full for the entire day. (Think scones, pancakes, french toast, Shakshuka and sausages). The French Press coffee is so delicious as well. We were greeted by a smiling and happy Tamara and her sweet doggie Joe - who my 4 year old loved. The entire home is also decorated so beautifully. Tamara can come to my house and give me design tips any time! Her taste is ecclectic - a mix of mid century modern, vintage and more modern pieces. They all come together to create a relaxing, calm and happy environment. The town of Kingston is adorable. A quick walk to lots of great spots to eat and the water front! Finally - the rooms are very spacious and all have their own bathroom - so you are not sharing with other guests. 3 of the rooms have Queen beds AND a twin day bed - so it's perfect for families to visit too. We can't wait to go back!
