Delightful resort for a leisure stay Pros: The magnificent hotel indeed looks like a fortress and faces the Beautiful enchanting Indian ocean 🌊 . Services are good and rooms are elegant . Breakfast spread was ample though vegetarian options are limited. The infinity pool and the garden area are well maintained and provide a serene and calm effect to spent time in leisure. The beach is fully accessible and quite nice for a short swim as the rocks form a natural pool. Many surfers were seen harnessing the waves too!! We spotted a turtle and few fishes too!! The beach is small and a bit rocky so one needs to be careful. However I expected some sun beds on the beach and sunscreen cart near the beach access . Cons: The breakfast spread is good but they could try adding vegetarian option like upma ,poha etc as the items were all same daily. The room washrooms should not be so open and some privacy should be there. The first day housekeeping staff barged into our room without our permission and we had to call the front desk -the manager was apologetic and offered complimentary wine for us. Some hotel staff do not understand basic English and its difficult to communicate at times leading to confusion. Overall a lovely stay .

We had a very pleasant stay at the Fortress in Koggala. The hotel is beautiful, elegant and not too big compared to other 5-Star hotels in Sri Lanka. We initially booked 3 nights and decided to stay even one night longer. The staff was incredibly professional. Every issue was immediately addressed and everyone was keen to find good solutions as fast as possible. The service we experienced by the reception, housekeeping, at the pool and general staff was definitely on a 5-Star level. There‘s a small gym / fitness room which I used twice - it is equipped with all the necessary things, as well as AC, fresh towels and cold water. The ocean view is incredible from the room as well as from the pool area. We went swimming in the ocean every day. Though it is true that the sea is a bit rough there around and there are a few larger stones, we were not bothered by that at all. Sunset walks at the beach are also highly recommended. The pool is huge, clean and definitely appreciated by a lot of guests. The breakfast buffet was incredible as well. They served oatdrink, as well as almond or soymilk as an alternative for fresh milk in coffee which is really rare to find in Srilanka. So that was highly appreciated. The srilankan food at the breakfast buffet (fresh hoppers, milkrice, curries, etc) was really good and tasty. They even had a juice bar with veggies and fruits to choose from for your freshly cold pressed juice - amazing! For the dinner we agree with a few of the other reviews - it is in fact a bit pricey for what you get, especially for the srilankan food. The food was well prepared and for sure of good quality but it lacked a bit of taste (we had tuna steak and fish filet). The local and indian cuisine tho was very very good, just a bit too pricey in comparison to other places. The all-you-can-eat-seafood-buffet that they had on every evening of our stay didn‘t seem to be very well visited. Again we found it to be a bit too pricey for our hunger. I think I would have appreciated the possibility to just order a grilled fish. But this is really just giving a very thorough review… All in all we had an incredible stay and we would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to treat themselves with a beautiful and relaxing stay in Koggala. If you book through the hotel directly you might also be able to get a better offer. We will be back for sure!

A fantastic hotel right on the beach, with an fabulous infinitely pool. The service was amazing, and the food in the hotel was excellent. I enjoyed the massage in the spa so much that I had another one the next day. I will definitely return.

We had the pleasure of staying in the Fortress for a family wedding and it was the most perfect venue! The grounds are beautiful with a breathtaking view of the sea and the rooms are so luxurious. The walled grounds made it feel exclusive and secluded.||The hotel had beautiful locations for the different events. The food was out of this world - different cuisines at every event and it was in abundance! They really are exceptional! I would 100% recommend this hotel ☺️.

The staff were warm, attentive, and made us feel truly welcome throughout our stay. Breakfast was delicious with great variety, and the spa treatments were absolutely wonderful. We had a holiday in Galle at The Fortress Resort & Spa, and it was truly a relaxing and comfortable stay from start to finish. Service: From the moment we arrived, we received a very warm welcome. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive throughout our stay. They kindly assisted us with food selection from the menu and helped arrange our meals in beautiful spots around the property. Housekeeping was excellent and maintained everything perfectly. Food: The food was absolutely delicious! There were plenty of good options to choose from, and every meal we had was flavorful and well presented. Facilities & Surroundings: The beach offers a stunning and relaxing view, perfect for unwinding. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, and the pool is spacious and suitable for everyone. We especially loved the private beach area exclusively for hotel guests — it made the experience feel even more peaceful and special. Room: Our room was amazing. We had a private plunge pool, a spacious bathroom with Bvlgari shampoo and amenities, a comfortable living area with Multimedia, an upstairs bed, and a balcony with a beautiful view. Everything was thoughtfully designed for comfort and relaxation. We truly loved our stay and would definitely visit again. It’s a perfect place to relax, refresh, and enjoy a peaceful holiday with your loved one — especially ideal for couples. Highly recommended! ❤️

We had an amazing stay at the hotel and a truly memorable vacation. The room was spacious, luxurious, and super clean, making our stay very comfortable. The beach view was absolutely stunning and added so much to the overall experience. From the moment we arrived the hotel staff welcomed us in a very professional and warm manner. Throughout our stay everyone was polite, kind, and extremely helpful which made us feel very well taken care of. The food was delicious, and we really enjoyed the dining experience. As a small suggestion to the management it would be great to see more variety and a bigger spread in the future.
