On the Grid : The Foundry Home Goods

"Nestled on the quiet corner of 1st St and 2nd Ave, this small boutique is an emporium filled with carefully curated goods that can upgrade nearly any room in your home or give you some serious gifting cred. Step inside and you'll see this little shop masterfully uses up every square inch of its space as its stocked nearly to the ceiling with everything from modern ceramics to natural cleaning supplies. And if you're lucky, you might just walk in on the day the owner brings in all of her baby goats from her goat farm outside of the city. Yes, baby goats." - Krisna MacDonald

Google
This is a great place to get artisan and hard to find gifts, easy shopping space, and really unique items. I really like the bowls, garden items, candles, and knives. Owner super nice, and staff really friendly showing me around. Nice to go on a sunny day, with all the natural light coming through the space. Highly recommend going and shopping.

Fantastic shop! The owner is so friendly and personable. They have a great selection and a ton of fantastic gift ideas for almost everyone. Highly recommend a so in, even if it's just to say hi to the dog!

When my friend Jennifer insisted that I check out The Foundry, I was skeptical. My partner Ken, on the other hand, didn't need to be convinced and came home with lovely French washed linen scarves that we love. I bought some art supplies and two gorgeous Japanese bowls. The printed descriptions that accompany the products are wonderful. The woman who wrapped my gifts was inspiring and delightful. The store clearly uses great judgment in who they hire as well as what they sell. The only thing that would make the store better for me is if they carried the Viviva Colorsheets (watercolors in a booklet) that I love and often give as gifts. 🎨🥰 Finally, Jennifer insisting that I go on a Friday when a portion of the profits are donated. That's what I did.

Google
This is my favorite small shop for gift giving. I have never had the opportunity to visit in person, but they have a very user friendly online store. I have to stop myself from ordering every week. They ship quickly and pack everything very well. Also if you can get a beeswax candle for yourself, you won’t be sorry.

Google
This is one of my all time favorite stores in Minneapolis. The staff is always friendly and it is so beautifully staged. They have really thought out the customer experience from the beeswax candle that is always lit to the lined receipt paper. The quality of merchandise is impeccable. Their products are always evolving with a handful a set staples. I am continuously happily surprised when I pop in. Be careful, it will hurt your wallet. The pricing is very reasonable, but it is almost impossible to have self control. I always want to purchase the entire store.

Yelp
This is truly one of the best small business in Minneapolis! A staff that's kind and welcoming and an atmosphere that makes you want to explore. The shop has a wonderful curated collection of home items, that you'll keep coming back for more. Carrying items that will help you reduce waste and give your home all the hygge vibes! After your visit make sure to follow them on insta to stay up to date on all the wonderful cool items rotating into the shop.

Yelp
Such a beautiful space. The owner was such a pleasure to talk to. The products are so cute and easy to shop.

Yelp
This store is truly amazing. They have eco friendly products and lasting supplies for your home. I was in shock of this stores ambiance, part of me never wanted to leave. They also donate 15% of profits every Friday to a chosen charity/fund!! Also its location is in the old soap factory, definitely worth checking out

Yelp
I went in after a friend recommended the store. It is lovely and has a super fun selection, so a 5 for the look and feel of the store, but I was the only one in the store at the time and the gentleman working did not acknowledge I walked in much less ask if I needed help. When I brought my items to counter to purchase, I said hello and commented on what I had chosen and got no response. I was asked if I wanted a receipt. The only thank you was from me when I reach for the bag as I was leaving. Not a "thank you" or a "come again", which I probably won't. Bummer

Yelp
This place is adorable! The staff is so down-to-earth and friendly, which is so refreshing with an expensive store. They are really wonderful members of the community. In fact, the owner distributes random daffodils all over the neighborhood as a welcome to spring!

Yelp
Gorgeous store with a beautifully curated selection of elegant home goods and a friendly and attentive staff. I only wish the hand-picked antique furnishings were for sale, as well!

Yelp
The Foundry is a stunning store. Gorge-malorge, as my friend Kelly S would say. In laymen's terms, hubba hubba. This simple, upscale shop in the North Loop that just opened this year and it features modern home goods and natural cleaning supplies. Inside and out, it's styled so.damn.well. It had me at flower boxes and exposed brick. I admit that I was hoping for more home decor items, but the small shop seems to lean a little toward laundry soap and fancy brooms. As much as my Pinterest boards might disagree, fancy brooms aren't very practical for my life. The natural cleaning products might not be as pretty as the dustpans, but they ARE practical, so I love that. The small selection of home accessories (the little gold and white bowls, cutting boards, salad servers, etc.) is very beautiful. The prices aren't too crazy either. I really look forward to seeing what the owner finds next!

Yelp
I had been working across the street from the building where The Foundry Home Goods opened shop for about six months when I noticed a young woman outside what would become my new go-to gift shop, on her hands and knees, pulling weeds from the sidewalk. I was floored by how much time she put into perfecting the outside of her little corner in the North Loop, kitty-corner to Askov Finlayson and Bachelor Farmer. Of course, the inside is just as thoughtful. Everything, from the store's collection of ceramics and dish soaps to the Minnesota-made leather bags from Spring Finn & Co., has owner Anna Hillegass' chic touch. Beautiful. Simple. When every other boutique home goods store in the Twin Cities seems to be hawking tacky knick-knacks that only clutter our end tables and cabinets, The Foundry Home Goods provides lovely pieces that are well made, serve a purpose and are statement pieces, to boot.

Yelp
Sorry... pretty store but too pricey. Can get the same for cheaper but still the same quality at other home good stores...

Yelp
Okay, the Foundry isn't my usual cup of tea (I currently live in a run-down college house in the middle of Dinkytown, using plates that may or may not have been bought at a garage sale), but they have a way cool selection of things I would never buy for myself as a college student. But seriously, it's a pretty sweet collection. Lots of handmade home goodies in this tiny shop. Cool towels, Faribault blankets (so effing cozy, yo) and organic soaps and cleaning supplies. This is like Pottery Barn gone local and hip, with really similar prices. Yeah, nothing is practical here, but it could make a cool gift for a little something special. My big thing, though? The staff was a little rude and condescending. Yeah, my sister and I are young (she's a few years older and would actually buy something) but there was little to no interaction, which is incredibly awkward in a store that's tiny. Eh. Apparently, one of the owners has a goat farm and was bringing in baby goats later that day for an event. BABY GOATS, GUYS. Okay, that's just awesome. They gain a star. EDIT: the owner actually contacted me on Yelp a few days later to apologize for not being as polite and friendly as usual- they were busy taking care of the logistics of getting the baby goats to Minneapolis from their farm, which makes total sense and sounds very stressful. Excited to stop in with my Mom sometime to show her all the cool goodies (that she can actually afford).

Yelp
Love this beautiful space in south Minneapolis! The clerk was so helpful when I needed a last minute birthday gift, and I walked out with a beautiful, fun present.

Yelp
This store is AH-mazing. Seriously. We stopped in last Saturday on our "shop local" mission and we were truly thrilled with what we saw. Everything is curated beautifully and they have lots of home products you can't find anywhere else in the TC. We were especially smitten with the sets of mini olive bowls and couldn't leave without purchasing. I also loved that they print your receipt on loose leaf paper - adorbs. Most surprising for me though was how reasonably priced everything was. I will certainly back for gifts...and maybe a few gifts for myself too?

Yelp
If you are a person that notices/loves details, this store will be your haven. I would get married to a random stranger if it meant I would acquire all the things on my "wish list" at the foundry. When I went to Mexico I brought the bees wax hand/body balm with me (along with the tiny wooden spoon-because I love it). Every night I covered my scorched body in this Beez wax magic body balm and I swear it saved my life. Mexico mid-June is a scorching caldron. I wore 50 spf and my skin was melting off. By the end of the trip all my travel companions looked like worn leather straps and my skin was hydrated and deeply tan. The texture is really comforting and seemed to help me sleep. I swear by this stuff and I love this store. -Alisia Ray

Yelp
This is such a great addition to the neighborhood. The store is pricey, but every single piece is exquisite. It's a great place to get a unique gift for someone special in your life. If they like to cook, that is. Also, the owner of the store has been spotted around the neighborhood planting small trees and flowers. I can't thank her enough for that.

Yelp
I live in Montana so I have not had the chance to visit this place in person. However, my online ordering experience was great. They are one of the few places in the USA I can order any of the Henry Dean line. I get nervous ordering glassware sight unseen. But each piece arrived in perfect condition, chip free, and wrapped so we'll it could have dropped from the sky. I'm ready to place my second order soon to get the matching cylinder for my bathroom toothbrush holder!

Yelp
Gaaahh I want to live here. Having just moved from Seattle (by way of New Zealand), I was feeling pretty landlocked and humdrum. It was refreshing to visit a shop as simple, beautiful and inspiring as this. The shop girl was very knowledgable about the products (probably wouldn't be hard to be since it's a small shop) which really added to the charm of the place. I like that some items (beeswax candles, big beautiful lathe-carved bowls, some pottery) are from right here. Granted it is pricey for Minnesota but hey, everything else here is cheap. I can't wait to check it out in a different season and see what changes.

Yelp
Beautiful aesthetic and interior. Upscale and classy without being gawdy. Prices are unaffordable for someone in my financial bracket. Overall didn't buy anything the last 3 times I was there but wanted my entire house to be decorated with their items.

Yelp
When my closest friend moved to Minneapolis last year I told her about The Foundry Home Goods. She took me there first thing when I went to visit last week. So happy to go to this shop after following them on Instagram for a few years. Everything is beautiful and well priced. Can't wait to go there again. I did not leave empty-handed.

Yelp
Nice stuff, but most of the stuff is ...think Canvas NYC and Canoe. Not much is sourced beyond that. So I give it an A for styling and environment and a C for originality. That said, I did buy a wooden spoon I had long admired, but also have seen in way too many home stores in Brooklyn. But, hey, it was still lovely...

Yelp
Their items are beautiful in their simplicity. The location is easy to get to and there is parking a plenty. The Foundry is a great place to get well-crafted tea cups, cloths, candles, and a ton of other lovely gifts. Perfect for housewarming gifts, or to stock your own kitchen!

Yelp
Everything about The Foundry is perfect perfect! From the staff to the beautiful building, to all of the beautifully-curated things inside: it's just the best! If you're looking for a gift for someone or just a little day-brightener for yourself; this is the place to do it!

Yelp
I love going to this shop for thoughtful home items! If you do a little research on this shop, it's story is fascinating. I do find that there is a weird vibe in the store from the staff, who are usually on their phones or computer when I walk in, but I try to ignore that and enjoy visiting there anyway.

Yelp
I LOVE THIS PLACE! Eco-friendly, fair-trade, and organic! Everyone can find something to love at The Foundry.

Yelp
Love. The styling, the exquisitely curated home and kitchen goods, the hand dipped beeswax candles, soapstone serving dishes, perfect pottery and simple, beautiful things.
