Popped in for a quick bite and tea whilst waiting to see a play at the RSC which is 2 minutes away. The atmosphere is great, they really went all in on the post-War feel with ration book menus and the same tea set that my grandparents used to have. We had the savoury scones and the four tea blend, real leaf tea. The scones were warm and delicious served with cream cheese and relish. They left a timer to help you wait for your tea to steep - as a Yorkshire tea aficionado, the tea was good but even after the 5 minute timer and another 5 minute wait, it was only just getting strong enough. No complaints though - we were in for 45 minutes and I poured "one last cup" from the ample sized pot just before leaving and it was still piping hot, so the wait was not detrimental to the tea and probably good for the soul. The staff were great, really lovely and helpful people. My son had a massive slice of Victoria sponge and put both thumbs up to that too! Would go again.
