We had dinner here, the view was fantastic. Very nice dining room with big windows. Staff relocated our table to window seating when a table opened up as we were arriving, we really appreciated that. We all enjoyed our food, my fillet steak was excellent. Service was a little inexperienced for a restaurant of this quality but I understand the labor pool is probably challenging on an island. Regardless staff was all very nice. Definitely worth a visit.

I had a wonderful meal with excellent service. Lokal fare of the highest quality.|The beautiful view over Scapa bay is possible from every table through really large windows. Inside there is an exhibition of smaller paintings by a local artist but also some larger permanent pieces which simply enhance the atmosphere of a special evening out with really good food. I highly recommend it.

The view is amazing. Love that they make you meal a experience instead of rushing you through dinner. Nice menu.... Ordered the steak that was way over the mid rare that was ordered but the view and service made up for it..... It's Orkney, enjoy the laid back quite the island has to offer

Gorgeous views over the bay. We got some drinks once we arrived and sat in the lounge to order the food. I asked for a window spot when booking and by the time we got seated, there were some available due to the late time slot we booked - however, they left them unoccupied which seemed a bit odd. Anyway, the views are great on the tables in the „second row“ too! The food was excellent and creative, the starters are rather small portions (£15 for 2 scallops seems overpriced, knowing the local fish prices). The service was friendly and fast. Sometimes even too fast, we would have liked a bit more of a break between starter and main. All in all, I would recommend this restaurant due to its views and food!

We had heard good reports about the food here, and when passing in the early evening, we tried our luck for a free table, and were pleasantly surprised at being given a lovely window table looking out to Scapa Flow. The service was friendly and efficient. And the food was delicious. The local scallops were wonderful, and the slow-cooked lamb shoulder was one of the best lamb dishes I've had. The drinks choice was extensive but we were cycling, so just sampled the excellent house wines.

A beautiful location with great views, formal-but-friendly service and top quality local produce, prepared and presented with real care. We had starters of scallops and also Cullen Skink - the skink was the winner, the scallops were a bit bland. Main courses were seafood risotto (best) and lamb in a redcurrant gravy. City-dweller tourists take note: this is a very good traditional restaurant with a kind-of eighties quality-hotel vibe. The flavours are more rich and saucy and French influenced than I'm used to - I generally lean toward the Mediterranean. I would have liked to see more fish (grilled), more salad and more vegetarian. But The Foveran delivers excellent food in a great setting with courtesy and smiles and it's easy to understand why it has the reputation of being Orkney's best

We had a wonderful meal here (two families) on our last night in Orkney. Excellent food, wonderful friendly service - can’t ask for more. Highly recommended!

Nice location , with sea views over farmland. Friendly informal young staff. Attention to detail could have been improved by removing the seagull shit off the front door on arrival, but hey, maybe that happens too often on Orkney to notice every time 🫣

Yelp
We've been here a couple of times before and quite honestly can't find a fault. Excellent food, service and stunning location.

Yelp
I guess people in this area don't use yelp because there should be hundreds of ratings for this place. It was so good that it is worth a special trip to Orkney. The focus on local fresh food is complete with excellent seafood and unusual foods such as beremeal bread from flour made at a local mill for hundreds of years. The setting had a beautiful view of the water and the interior was decorated in a warm and inviting way. Everyone on the staff was very pleasant and the whole experience was memorable.
