From Chicago to Seafood Heaven (Bring Cash!)
Visiting friends in Inverness who would not shut up about this place. Seriously, they raved. Unfortunately, we couldn't make it together, so we took the 30-minute drive on our own--and wow, are we glad we did.
This spot is the definition of a hole-in-the-wall dive bar meets waterfront gem. You know, the kind of place where the food is so good, they don't need fancy décor--just fresh seafood and a killer view.
I had no clue what to order, so I did what any confused, hungry person would do: I asked the regulars in line. They did not disappoint! My friends had already hyped up the shrimp, and the locals backed them up, also recommending the salmon and clam chowder.
Plot twist: They were out of salmon (tragic), so I pivoted to steamed clams. Best decision ever--absolutely delicious. But let's talk about the real MVP here: the shrimp. Do yourself a favor and go double butter, double cocktail sauce. I'm telling you, this was some of the best shrimp I've ever eaten in my life.
The clam chowder? Also fantastic. Perfectly balanced, loaded with clams, and just the right amount of potato--none of that watery nonsense.
Service is casual and fun--you order at the bar, they yell your name when it's ready, and you yell back like you're in a seafood-themed roll call.
Now, VERY IMPORTANT: BRING CASH. No cards, no Venmo, no IOUs--just good old-fashioned paper money. When my total came to $29, I actually did a double take. The server saw my face and asked, "Too expensive?" I laughed and said, "Nope, too low!"
If you love great seafood and don't mind a little drive, this place is absolutely worth it. Get in the car. Now. And don't forget the cash!
