Interesting in-store pick up…
I informed the two persons behind the till I was here to collect my order. (The third person — also behind the till — was serving a customer). First, they only asked for my name, although I was showing the email confirmation on my phone. They couldn’t find the order. They come back to ask for the actual order reference.
They didn’t know or couldn’t tell if the order was paid for (well in-store collection, so yeah, paid).
I confirmed but felt like they didn’t quite believe it. They interrupted the third person to double check. It was confirmed and they handed me the bag.
[Good to know: if you’re collecting from this vendor, bag has no handle, not the most practical.]
I asked for a bag with handles. They complied but sternly highlighted they normally charge for it. I advised I was very happy to pay. They dismissed the situation. No eye contact when the bag was handed. I find it funny the entry-price/unbranded/basic paper bag was a conversation in the first place 😂.
I’m French, Parisian, born and raised. Practically grew up around ‘parapharmacies’. Overall, I didn’t feel valued as a customer. Not the interaction I was expecting on a relaxed Sunday.
