The Fresh Market

First time ordering party trays from Fresh Market! I just want to say thanks the deli team who put together some beautiful and delicious sandwich and wrap trays for an office holiday function. Classy touch. Everyone was very impressed with the variety and came back for seconds. And special thanks to Judy who was very pleasant as she kindly confirmed my order before pickup. We'll definitely order again in the future!

Clean and quiet environment. All the staff were friendly and helpful, but especially Terry. She went above and beyond in her customer service. She encouraged my sister and I to sample a hot honey pepperoni pizza and it was so delicious we bought one for dinner. We will definitely be back!

Went to the meat department to get burgers and dealt with the nastiest kid. I don't remember his name but he looks dirty he's Caucasian and was cutting meat in the back. He rolled his eyes and whispered something rude to his coworker as he came to take care of me. This isn't the first time and it will be the last because while foods is way fresher. I think he doesn't like black folk. Went to the deli and was being rushed by the two older black women there whom are always rude. I live near by so fresh market is my go to. But I'm tired of the disrespect.

This is a very nicely laid out Fresh Market. They seem to have plenty of nice items. Everything is clearly packaged and staged for your viewing. The fresh foods are great as well as their meals to go.

Wonderful store, very clean and well stocked. Great friendly service too!

At the deli….i ordered a meatball bistro meal….the male attendant wearing gloves used the spoon to get the meatballs. Then used his gloved hand to “pick up the spaghetti “ and put it in my tray with the same hand that he touched the handle of the spoon for the meatballs.. other servers touch that handle. Why use his hands???? I was so shocked. I didn’t say anything. He also was not very nice… this was not very sanitary.

I just want to let people at Fresh Market know how lovely their assistant manager Charlie is. She came to the floral stand to help me make a bouquet for a funeral when the florists were all off duty. She did a fantastic job, and was such a pleasure to interact with. Apparently Judy their normal florist is exceptional so I look forward to buying bouquets from her for happier occasions.

Exceptional customer service. Some of the best coffee you'll find anywhere. They now make pizza we just had our first one. It was as expected. Excellent like everything else there. It's not a place where we buy all our groceries but we like to go there and get delicious fun high end stuff Shopping here is a sign that you're living your best life.

Review is for to go sushi and other items I browsed. This was my first time at fresh market and the layout felt somewhat overwhelming. They seem to have a ton of unique items that you may not be able to find in other stores which I appreciate. The prices were a bit higher compared to other supermarket so I didn't end up buying the items that intrigued me for that reason. I ended up getting some sushi for lunch which was good, but not outstanding ( I suppose as to be expected from packaged sushi). It was a bit overpriced for what I got. May be back if I need a hard to find item, but won't be my go to store.

We got a honey ham for Easter.. Lillie's for my mom and my husband got a dark chocolate peanut butter cup and some assorted nuts.. very clean and small little market! Everyone was nice except I couldn't quite figure out if the lady at the check out was happy to see us or irritated to be there.. the meats are great so I'll be back

It has quality stuff. But it is so expensive and staff is not as exceptional as they advertise. You have to shop their specials. And they don't have everything you're probably looking for. And several times we've had to deal with their out of date products. You have to check the expiration dates on everything they have because apparently they don't.

I like Fresh Market. They are unique in the area. Options and variety are good, quality is excellent. If there is a problem, my feeling is that they make an effort to correct. There is a good selection of prepared food or ready to cook options.

T You can count on this place to have decent food (most of the time - last purchase of fresh tuna was awful) and poor service. The meat counter staff must get elite training in being rude and dismissive because they are quite skilled in those abilities.

Usually a huge fresh market fan but the customer service is lacking terribly recently. The personnel behind the meat counter are incredibly rude. There is an older gentleman who has been working recently who is SO awful! He rudely and abruptly screams "NEXT" to customers as they approach the counter and should you be unsure of your selection or need a minute to browse, be prepared. The level of customer service from the staff as compared to the price and quality of the food is disappointing.

I love this place. Yes, it's a bit expensive but my dad always said you get what you pay for. One of my favorites is the pre-made deluxe Greek salad. Made fresh daily and I turned my roommate on to it. Lots of good produce too. Just a fun place to be with happy folks helping with your every need. I go about once a week.

I bought the "$20 feeds 4" fajita special today after work hoping for a quick meal with little effort. It was not the case. The meal came with 1.5 lb of chicken which I expected to be pre-cut in strips. Instead there were 2 breasts that were cut in half into 4 portions. In addition, the peppers cut in large pieces with the rib section left in place; the tortillas were frozen solid. I had to cut the chicken and peppers up/remove the ribs into proper portions. Come on prep kitchen-Take some pride in your work and cut the meat and veggies into serving sizes instead taking the lazy way out. It only made more work for me and dinner late to my table.

I stopped by the store in Midlothian to purchase a salad for lunch. I was surprised to see the size of the salad is in a much smaller package and they still charged the same price of $8.99. I won't be purchasing any more salads there if this is the way it will be going forward.

This store does not understand customer service. The food is good, but the service is terrible - unfortunately it's been that way since the day they opened - they just don't understand service. Hospice patient specifically asked for roasted chicken meal deal. Not knowing if it had to be cooked, I made a special trip on Saturday to order it. The meat dept. employee (the only working the counter on a Sat.) couldn't find the correct order form nor could he find anyone to ask. So he wrote it on a legal pad. I knew my schedule would be tight on Wed., so I wanted to pre-pay but he said I could not pay for it until I picked it up. Sign and clerk said the price was $14.99. Arrived yesterday at 4:40. There was a line at the meat counter and no one working the counter where cooked chickens are stored. There were no tickets in the dispenser so I couldn't walk away or I'd lose my place in line. When I got my turn, no one knew anything about the order. But they put it together and said it was $15.99. I said the sign says $14.99 - they said that was wrong. Told me to take it up with the check-out because they couldn't do anything about the price. Next, my friend had requested pudding - not chocolate. I was directed by three different clerks to three parts of the store, but there was no pudding. Finally got a creme brulee from the bakery and a yogurt from the dairy case. Went to the check-out. Talking to the check-out person about reducing the meal deal price by $1 was like talking to someone from another planet. She finally understood after I explained it several times. By now, it's after 5 PM. I had the meal deal, a plastic container of lettuce, a yogurt and a creme brulee. The check out packed the container of lettuce on its side. She put the creme brulee next to it, also on its side. It arrived to my friend as a big mess all slid down to the side of the container and the berry was buried. After delivering to my friend, I went back to the store to complain. The check out stand where I had checked out happened to be right across from the offices. So I went there to ask for the manager. The clerk who checked me out stopped checking out another patron to ask me what she'd done wrong. I told her we could talk after she helped the lady in line. She refused and stopped again to page the manager and ask me again what she'd done wrong. Again, I said please help the lady in line then we could talk. The manager came and listened and said, not "I'm Sorry", but "so what do you want me to do" to which I said "I want you to tell me what you think you should do". He totally misssed my point that customer service needed to improve. He refunded the price of the creme brulee. I must have said six times that they needed to work on customer service - it was never acknowledged. It's always like this in Fresh Market - lovely store, good food, high prices, the worst customer service. And no pudding.

This is a specialty grocery store that has somewhat slipped from my weekly cycle as a result of their ceasing to carry a specialty brand of soda that I loved. They do generally carry some of the best fresh fruits and OJ around. They also carry pretty good, if pricey, prepared foods. My favorites are the curried chicken salad and corn souffle. I also like the large selection of dried fruits and nut mixes stored in bins. If you have money to burn, their meat and fish section look great as well. Not a place for regular grocery shopping, but definitely a place to visit for special needs and/or occasions. When I do go, I find it hard to leave without my pocket being at least a hundred lighter, which speaks to how much I like it and why I don't go as often as I'd like!

They're sort of like a tiny Whole Foods, you walk into the store in the produce department and then loop out the other side. I don't go in on a regular basis for groceries since it would be pricier than ducking over to other retailers nearby, but they are generally my go-to for treats since they're just about within walking distance of my house and it's generally where I get coffee beans and suchlike. Recently tried the house-blend chili powder and was relieved to find it's reliable and not packed with salt like so many other brands nowadays [I love salt, but I need to be in control of how much is in my food, not some arbitrary spice-mixer] and on the pre-made end of the spectrum, my friends have really good results with their sushi trays for parties.

I'm a huge fan of most of The Fresh Market Meal Deals. But tonight's lasagna was the best lasagna I have ever had! The pasta tasted homemade and the meat sauce was delicious. $25 for a meal for 4. Meals change on Wednesdays. Take a break from cooking during the stay at home quarantine this week before this meal deal is gone!

I go to Fresh Market for special events and feel I can always rely on getting fresh tasty food. For Thanksgiving I've been including their stuffing with my order. In previous years it has been delicious. Just like my mom used to make. BUT this year it was horrible. It wound up in the trash. Was it a vegan recipe. It had a strong onion flavor. Missing the usual touch of sage and the wrong bread crumbs. Totally off the mark. I hope next year Fresh Market will return to the tried and true stuffing recipe.

I haven't been in a while, got a little tired of the cashiers' attitudes. Now I have to laugh at the $10 off of $60 offers. Really? It's kind of an insult and I doubt it's gaining you any business. You've already priced yourself out of most people's wallets. How about $10 off $50.

What is going on with this Fresh Market?!?! I've shopped here since they opened and I was always impressed with the quality of their foods and the general appearance of the store. It was always clean and well stocked. The smell when you walk in is so inviting. Over the last several months I have seen a downhill slide in the general appearance of the store and the products on the shelves. An ongoing problem is the Milk. Everytime I go to buy a couple of gallons,I have to bypass the milk in the front rows because they are due to expire the next day. Yesterday when I went in for my usual milk run,almost every gallon of organic 2% had expired the day before! I had to dig through to get to the only 2 gallons in the back that weren't expired, I mentioned it to the cashier and she called the Mgr. A nice gentleman came and I explained the milk situation. He said I'm sorry about that,but that's not my Dept. he did say he would go and pull the expired Milks off the shelf. Today I went in to get some bulk candy. Not a plastic bag anywhere to be found. I had to ask the cashier for help. He came and looked and even looked underneath in the cabinets. Nothing. He went over to the other bulk foods and gave me a big plastic bag meant for chips and such. The coffee station is neglected a lot of the time. Many times, a particular pot is empty and nobody around to fill it. The store in general is just untidy looking. Trash on the floor..etc. It's like they have just given up.

Not good as your weekly grocery store. But one of the best for picking up the nights dinner. Great seafood and meat. Great vegetables and deli items. Can be pricey but their specials each week can be value priced. Consider this a large gourmet market vs a supermarket.

GOODBYE MIDLOTHIAN FRESH MARKET !!!!!!!!!!!!! Yesterday I called to order a bone in turkey breast for THANKSGIVING to serve 6-8 people, mind you I did the same thing last year at this location and also for 4 years before at a location in fl. Yesterday when I called I was put on hold 3 times while the man checked to see if a bone in was possible and also that in order to serve 6-8 people I would need 2 turkey breasts........ARE YOU KIDDING ME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LETS GET SOMEONE WHO KNOWS THE MEAT DEPARTMENT TO ANSWER THE PHONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry fresh market but you have lost my business. I called WHOLE FOODS got my turkey breast and an email confirmation all in less time that I was put on hold with FRESH MARKET,MIDLOTHIAN,VA ps I don't want you all to think that over one thing im leaving but a few weeks ago I bought chicken breasts and asked if I could have them split YES they were split by the butcher taking the breast and ripping them with her hand. I DON'T KNOW !!!!!!!!!! =(

This place is the "Worlds Market" of Virginia, They have a great selection of wines, beer, and any other spirits you've got in mind I'm sure. The reason I'm not giving a 5 star rating, is because of the high cost. For 2 separate meals bought here it cost us over 60$ . Also following each of these said meals there was an evacuation and fire storm below to be had. I can either say with complete conviction that the food was not carried at appropriate temp. Or their healthy selections are all but healthy. So expensive. So. Painful.

Their bakery section is to die for! And they have a huge variety of bulk goods, though I've tried a couple of things that were a little stale out of the gate. The produce selection is small, but they do have some good weekly specials. I love the atmosphere of the store. It's like a mini Whole Foods without the attitude. Extra points for carrying Icelandic water, too!

Fresh Market is more of a specialty store than your traditional grocery store, but the fare that they carry is also generally higher quality as well. They have a produce section, seafood case, butcher, prepared foods, bakery, and wide selection of wines and cheeses. I don't come here for my weekly grocery run, but I do come here fairly often to pick up niche items (particularly when they are on special). For example: Meat: The butcher case has a pretty extensive selection of steaks, chops (pork and sometimes lamb), and ground meat (including chuck, sirloin, and turkey). All of which are on the pricier side compared to a grocery store, but the quality of the meat is well worth it. The Premium Choice First Cut NY Strip Steak is delicious, and on special for $8.99 ea is a steal! Also, be on the lookout for the Crab-Stuffed Choice Sirloin Grillers -- think crabcake stuffed into a butterflied top sirloin; great stuff! Their specialty burgers are also incredible and come in varieties like Cheddar & Bacon, Portobello, and Bleu Cheese, all with the toppings mixed into the burger. Awesome. Bakery: They have some of the most delicious cookies EVER! The Brownie Pillow Cookies are simply out of this world! They are essentially sugar cookies filled with undercooked brownie -- not quite batter, but close. Soooo good! My wife loves the Heath Cookies, which are very appropriately named -- there is practically a Fun Size Heath bar in every cookie! A toffee lover's delight! While I haven't had much of their pre-made foods, what I have had has been pretty tasty! The Mac & Cheese was super creamy and the chicken wings were large, moist, and meaty. My main knock on The Fresh Market from 5 Stars is price. While quality can, in some cases, justify the additional expense, The Fresh Market seems to have a mark-up on essentially everything in the store, including items like drinks, chips, and non-organic produce. The Fresh Market is excellent when you use it the right way, but cost can easily get out of hand if you have too much fun roaming their diverse aisles....which they make it VERY easy to do!

While the bakery is excellent, some things are outrageously expensive. For example, Yancy's Fancy cheeses are $9.99 - twice as much as Kroger, which is $4.99. I can see a bit of a mark-up, but double the price? Be careful on expiration dates, also. I almost got fresh ground peanut butter than was 2 weeks past expiration and guac that was one week past expiration.

I rather like this Fresh Market. Their meat and seafood department are much better than other places in the general area. I've received decent customer service here but that's mostly from the people in the specialty departments (more on that later.) I love how some hard-to-find items that are generally more expensive in places such as Kroger tend to be cheaper here. As for their bakery? Total... diet... KILLER! I could seriously buy something from there everyday if I could. My fiancé gets my birthday cake from them every year and it's always delicious. Now for the bad. Remember when I said before the people who work in the specialty departments have always given me decent customer service? The same can't be said for the people stocking shelves or manning the registers. Good God these people look miserable. There's one gentleman in particular that I always see stocking shelves that gets visibly annoyed when customers try to browse in the aisles he's currently stocking. I'm sorry, I'll only be a moment grabbing that box of cavatappi pasta! No need to roll your eyes and huff and puff at me! I see why he's stocking and not dealing with the customers directly though. That man is not very nice. The kids they have at the registers? They need a lesson in customer service as well. No greeting most of the time, they hardly speak or look at you, and if they ARE talking then it's to their coworker helping to bag your groceries and not you. The manager here needs to work on that. My other issue is the inconsistency of the produce section. I understand in the supermarket industry, it might be a tad difficult to get quality produce that will stay fresh for longer than a couple of days. Especially items that aren't in season. However, some of the produce can look kind of gross at times. Not a good look for a supposedly high-end grocery store. Despite its flaws, I still like it here. These issues are all fixable so it's not enough to turn me off from Fresh Market just yet.

The quality of everything in the store really gives them the right to call themselves "The Fresh Market." I'm not going to lie this place is definitely pricey, but you get what you pay for. The customer service is superb; the employees are always very friendly, which is great. And I've had my fair share of snobby employees at multiple Whole Foods stores here and back in HI who trot around as if though they are employed with the Hermès of food grocers so I'd have to disagree with one of the previous reviews, and that is the main reason I will never return to one for as long as I live. Anyways, I'm getting off topic now. The selection isn't as vast as I'd like it to be, which is why they only get 4 stars NOT because of the price. They have a little of everything, but they need m0ar! I mainly come here for small grocery trips; for snacks, or specifically their seafood and something to eat after I've done my shopping. The things I love here that keep me coming back: 01. My number one guilty pleasure is probably the Crème Brûlée or the killer Vanilla Pound Cake, but I pretty much love all their deserts...I have a major sweet tooth and I hate it. 02. For to go sushi the quality is pretty good, especially for the price. A lot of restaurants I've been to so far here will charge you the same price or more for half the amount of less quality fish. Also, the amazing quality seafood which is probably the same stuff they use in the sushi. I was born and raised in HI, and moved here just recently so I'm fairly certain that I know my fish. Haha. 03. The customer service. I believe loyalty with a certain company is not only based on the consistency and quality of the products, but also on the experience created by the overall atmosphere and employees. For me personally, I will not return to a store no matter how much I love the merchandise if I am treated poorly with each visit. (I say each visit because I like to give chances, so to speak.)

Bare hands on the chicken!!! Fresh Market has always been my choice when I wanted something fresh and special. Today changed all of that. While shopping, I stopped by the meat counter to ask for helping finding some food. The man behind the counter was handling the chicken wings and thighs with his BARE HANDS. He continued doing that as he answered my question. I started to walk away but decided to say something to him. So I said, "are you handling that chicken with your bare hands?" He hid his hands behind his back and said, "no, ma'am". I said that's not true, I saw you doing it a minute ago. When I went to the cashier, I asked for a manager. I told him what happened. He said he'd remind the employee of the proper way to handle food. I asked, what about all that chicken? So unsanitary. I doubt that meat was thrown out. And I doubt this was the first time that employee used his bare hands. He didn't stop when he saw me, he was very comfortable talking to me and moving the chicken without gloves. I hope no one gets sick. No more Fresh Market for me.

10 stars...whenever I shop at The Fresh Market, I don't feel like I am just grocery shopping - it is a wonderful experience that keeps you coming back. They set the ambiance right away as you enter the store and you hear the light music in the background and are hit with the wonderful smells of fresh flowers. I like the little shopping carts that they provide which are much easier to manuever than the larger ones. My favorite things about this particular The Fresh Market: 1) Fresh Squeezed Lemonade in the summertime and the Fresh Squeezed Tangerine Juice in the Winter - delicious and I always end up picking two 1/2 gallons every time I shop there. 2) The freshest fish/seafood selection in the area. Best wild-caught fish (esp. the tuna and trout when in season) around. 3) The Market Fresh bacon is delicious and cooks up beautiful, the abililty to buy just one or two italian sausage links instead of a whole package that you usually find at other grocery stores. 4) Their lamb selection is awesome. Please keep on providing different selections of lamb - really is the best here! 5) Their Chipotle-Bacon Chicken Wings that are on the hot prepared bar - amazing. 6) Try their cupcakes. Yum. 7) The complimentary coffee tastings - with not just one but two coffees to choose from and mix. 8) The Pumpkin Spice Coffee and the Columbian Supremo are out of this world. 9) Their $3.99 Mini Carnations - they last for over three weeks. 10) Excellent customer service - they make the store feel like you're home! Just a couple of things I wish that I could find here - smaller cuts of leg of lamb (perhaps sometimes opening up the package, butterflying the leg of lamb and selling it in halves?) and wish that you would carry Hansen's Cane Sugar Natural Soda in Mandarin Lime. Considering that I shop here at least 3 times a week, you all are doing so many things right that I can't wait to see what other items you will carry in the future!

repeatly this store disappoints, the produce is not fresh the staff is under staff and the manager does not seem to realy get it that letting everyone go to dinner at the same time is poor management. I was so thrilled that we got this store on this side of town, but again and again many people are disappointed and it all points not to the staff but the management. This store is sub par to the other two Fresh Markets in the area?????????????? WHY

A great little place to pick up unique snacks and food items. A little pricey but you get what you pay for - great quality. Open til 9 pm weekdays.

This is my favorite grocery store and over the last year I frequent it most . That includes all the RVA groceries. First, I think think Fresh Market has the best selection of beef in the area grocery stores. But more than selection of the best beef..I think they have the best quality. I'm not going into detail as to why I believe that, but they do in IMO. I like the veggies and fruit section and usually find something I didn't have on my list to buy. I also like their 2fer wine sale on Saturday. It's always a good selection. They good chicken breasts, good pork and I love their crab cakes. Some categories are over priced. But every store has product that's overpriced. I like the Cary St. Store also..but not nearly as much as this one...I won't review it...if I did it would b a 3-.

We love this market. We have found everything we needed from a great chocolate cake to a rib roast. Yes, the prices are higher than some, but the quality is wonderful!

You have got to try the fresh premade burger patties in the meat dept. Sales are on tue, take some home and grill them up. All four are good.

This is a really cool place to shop! The service is ALWAYS excellent and the associates are ALWAYS friendly! More than what I can say with other grocery stores I go into in Richmond. I have no complaints whatsoever! Everything is clean and they're so nice to give customers courtesy cups of coffee. Makes shopping more fun! Great idea whoever came up with that! Very hard for me to shop any place else.

When I want the freshest and best foods and treats, I head to this place. I'm so glad Fresh Market decided to locate South of the James.

This place is perfect! You have to know what to shop for though. The cheese selection is outstanding (I'm French and pretty discerning), the ice cream selection is out of this world (the ciao Bella salted caramel ice cream sandwiches! Jeni's!), the fresh margarita pizza is amazing at the deli and the meat selections (schnitzel, kabobs, filet mignon) are the best on our side of town. The orzo salad, curried chicken salad, Normal chicken salad, and the French rounds (put chicken salad on top) are also delicious and available at the deli. The dessert counter with its key lime pie, tuxedo cakes, and fruit tarts are also outstanding. The prices vary, but I can sometimes buy fage for less than at Kroger! My husband also likes their popcorn, which makes a good healthy snack. If we are invited somewhere or want to host a stellar dinner party or luncheon, or shopping starts here--yours should too!!
