My third time at The Frog Pond on Park, and one thing holds true: their food, ambiance, service, and experience are exactly what I expect every time. The hostess, Sam, got us seated in one of their corner window booths quickly considering the Sunday brunch rush, and our server Dawn kept our coffee full and was friendly and welcoming.
I'd ordered their Monte Cristo sandwich in the past, and this time talked my mom into trying it as she was teetering between sweet and savory. The portions here are sizable--you won't leave hungry--and something like the Monte Cristo could easily be split between two people. I tried their Korean fried chicken sandwich, which came topped with spicy-sweet pickled veggies and was perfectly crispy and juicy. The French onion soup was also quite good--think the platonic ideal of French onion soups, and you're just about there.
My dad had the build your own omelette, which comes at a flat price of $10 plus a little for whatever fillings you choose to add from their broad variety. It was a pretty standard diner-style omelette, and he added Gouda, prosciutto, and heirloom cherry tomatoes to fill the eggs. He wasn't blown away by the omelette, but says the filling options were a nice addition and he cleaned his plate.
I continue to recommend The Frog Pond to anyone looking for a tasty, homey brunch in Park Avenue, but be aware the space is small and can get a little loud with everyone holding conversations.
