Great hostel if you’re backpacking, solo or with friends. Super affordable and I received breakfast vouchers. They have many activities like Angkor Wat Temple tour, Cooking class, Floating village tour, Country side tour and Free Khmer Lessons! and so on. The location is 10/10, and so is the price to value ratio. There are many good restaurants on the same street. The pizzeria next doors that is connected to the hostel and has 50% off on a few days, and I was positively surprised by how authentic the pizza tasted. There is also a turkish restaurant across the street, a japanese restaurant, a chicken wing place, a tacos place and many more. So location wise, it’s perfect. I liked the music at the bar, it became more lively in the evening. The staff at the reception was so helpful in helping me book tours and advising me. They were always smiling and kind. On my day of departure, I was able to leave my backpack at the reception after checkout for a few hours, while I did a tour. Only minor criticism I have is the bathroom, there was a huge spider web (it was later removed), and a gecko. I was a bit confused on how to turn the shower on. But warm water came out immediately which was nice. Overall 5 stars, highly recommend. :)

Expectation/Reality: The rooms and the photos were pretty close, and you will get pretty much what you expect. The bed is a foam top which isn't bad.Security: Generally secure. No safe, and the key is attached to the bracelet, but the location and the space felt secure.Hygiene: Generally good. You may have to ask for fresh towels, but the space itself was clean.Hospitality: Quite good, everyone speaks english and is fairly competent.Social Atmosphere: WARNING this is a party hostel. Music will be playing until mid night, so if you want to sleep early you need very good ear plugs. There's lots of events and lots of people to socialize with, typically they are around 21-22 years old, but there are older and younger, generally a good crowd. The volunteers organizing the events are just OK and doing their job, not the most keen or enthusiastic, but reasonably good enough.Overall: Good value for a private room. Good location to see the touristy sights. BEWARE don't book transport through the hostel. It seems convenient but it not a good experience. You get picked up by a tuk tuk, dropped off outside of town and wait by the side of the road were no one speaks english to get into a jam packed into van with broken AC, and no one speaks english, the van left about an hour behind schedule and when arriving at Phnom Penh, it was a dodgy experience, getting into another van alone to be dropped off into the next hostel. It was an uncomfortable adventure, but I did arrive safe, but if i did it again I would book transport through a provider with more direct responsibility.

Great hostel with even better service!! Remzy and Sean bring the life of the party even in low season! The countryside sunset tour was a highlight and the pizza garden was delicious. Would highly recommend Funky Village to any travelers coming to Siem Reap.

The hostel was pretty average, if slightly run down. Given one star because the hostel staff don’t care about the safety of solo travellers. One girl who was travelling alone while we were there got far too drunk, and had passed out (eyes open, unresponsive) and we were saying we needed to call for medical help. Both hostel workers were trying to convince us that it wasn’t necessary. BEWARE SOLO TRAVELLERS! Cannot trust them to take care of you.

I had a wonderful experience at this hotel. From the moment I arrived, the staff was warm, welcoming, and always ready to help with a smile. The room was spotless, spacious, and beautifully decorated, with all the amenities I needed for a comfortable stay.

Perfect location and staff organised events. Most things are within walking distance of this hostel. Very social. Positive atmosphere. Can be loud but that’s the vibe of the hostel! Two bars, night lights, music, variety of cocktails and affordable. Staff are very helpful if you need help with anything. Reception always happy to help or bar staff. We did a sunrise tour of Angkor Wat, absolutely beautiful views. Affordable and worth the early start. Completely unmissable event. They have a coach come pick you up from the hostel. Great way to meet friends when travelling.

If they put you in room 1 or 2 by the pool refuse it otherwise you won’t sleep at all. They are both place directed behind a speaker and feels like you’re sleeping in the smoking area of a club. We complained twice and the bar staff didn’t seem to care. We had booked a sunrise tour of Angkor wat through them meaning we had to wake up at 3 45am. Ironically the reception staff said don’t be late. They moved us after we complained, we understood it was a party hostel but that was completely unacceptable.
