The Funky Village

It strikes a great balance—ideal for quieter travelers looking to chill, but also perfect for younger backpackers who want a bit of organized fun. The communal area is brilliantly designed to spark natural conversation, and the vibe is super welcoming. |Nice pool, friendly staffs( Nana, Mai & Vandy), and decent food at the main bar. That said, I’d skip the pizza—definitely not their strong suit.

Can’t recommend this place enough. Big shoutout to Shaun for making this stay so memorable. Helped us so much with our stay and even gave us some brilliant tips for the next leg of our trip! Just so happened to bump into the owner outside the hostel and he is a quality, can really tell he cares about Cambodia and the community as well as this place. Clean rooms, good facilities, lockers in room. The free breakfast every morning is a lovely touch too. There is also a fantastic Indochine restaurant attached next door which you get a discount for, highly recommend. We were originally on the ground floor opposite the bar and this was too loud so we did request to change and they obliged with no qualms.

I stayed here recently and had cash stolen from my private room. When I reported it, the staff were completely dismissive and unhelpful, showing no concern or responsibility whatsoever. They told me they would “check the cameras,” even though there isn’t a camera facing my room. I pointed that out and asked instead to see the electronic door log to verify when my room had been accessed, they refused to provide it, and just repeated that they had “checked the cameras.” They didn’t even ask what time period to review (I stayed for five days),which made it very clear they had no real intention of investigating. It’s hard to feel safe in a place that clearly doesn’t take guest security seriously. The hostel has no atmosphere at all. Somehow it manages to feel both dead and obnoxiously loud at the same time, blaring music constantly, even though no one is around. Even though it is low season other hostels in the same area still managed to be lively and sociable. The deluxe private room itself was decent, but that’s the only positive I can mention. I’ve stayed in hundreds of hostels around the world, and this one ranks near the bottom. Stay literally anywhere else.

If you’re looking for a lively, party hostel— this is the place for you! It’s loud and music will be playing later than 12:00 am. The rooms are pretty nice and staff is helpful.

Great hostel if you’re backpacking, solo or with friends. Super affordable and I received breakfast vouchers. They have many activities like Angkor Wat Temple tour, Cooking class, Floating village tour, Country side tour and Free Khmer Lessons! and so on. The location is 10/10, and so is the price to value ratio. There are many good restaurants on the same street. The pizzeria next doors that is connected to the hostel and has 50% off on a few days, and I was positively surprised by how authentic the pizza tasted. There is also a turkish restaurant across the street, a japanese restaurant, a chicken wing place, a tacos place and many more. So location wise, it’s perfect. I liked the music at the bar, it became more lively in the evening. The staff at the reception was so helpful in helping me book tours and advising me. They were always smiling and kind. On my day of departure, I was able to leave my backpack at the reception after checkout for a few hours, while I did a tour. Only minor criticism I have is the bathroom, there was a huge spider web (it was later removed), and a gecko. I was a bit confused on how to turn the shower on. But warm water came out immediately which was nice. Overall 5 stars, highly recommend. :)

Very nice rooms, good location and really friendly staff. Me and my friend were welcomed by Sean, he showed us around, took my friend to the local footballteam and gave us the best tips! Thank you to the funky village and Sean and his colleagues!
