The Funny Lion - Coron

We had a fantastic stay! The hotel is amazing, and all the staff are extraordinarily friendly and service-oriented. They pay great attention to their guests and to every detail. The food at the hotel is delicious. Not to forget the beautiful sunset and the great drinks at the rooftop bar. We can give a 100% recommendation. Please keep doing what you do – you guys are amazing!

We had a fantastic honeymoon stay at The Funny Lion. The staff were incredibly welcoming and even surprised us with a sweet honeymoon treat. They also handled all our logistics seamlessly, organizing our airport transfers and port transport for our boat expedition, and even thoughtfully provided towels for our day trips. While they did forget our initial welcome drinks, they more than made up for it with an excellent turn-down service and complimentary soft drinks in the room. The accommodations and facilities were a major highlight of our trip. Our room was spacious and comfortable, featuring a fantastic shower that was much appreciated after long boat tours. We spent a lot of time on the deck enjoying the jacuzzis overlooking the bay and sipping on cocktails (the Jungle Juice is delicious but dangerous)! The two additional pools were equally spacious and provided a very relaxing atmosphere away from the crowds. Regarding the location and dining, we enjoyed being slightly outside of town; it requires a quick tuk-tuk ride to get into the center, but it’s a nice escape from the chaos of Coron Town. While we didn't particularly rate our meal at Hunt, the breakfast buffet was plentiful and of very nice quality. Overall, the combination of thoughtful service and great amenities made for a memorable stay, and we would recommend.

The Funny Lion was a great place to get away from the main town of Coron. Easy to get into town by tuk tuk. Very friendly staff, excellent beds and quiet. We were in the new section which were nicely done. Two things to add would be drawers to unpack clothes, as there is only one single drawer - but plenty of room to add this furniture. And comfortable seating outside - rather than wooden chairs. There were deck chairs outside the rooms adjacent to the pool - which would have been great.

This is our favorite hotel of all time. We absolutely loved our stay here! The service provided by the entire staff was truly exceptional. They were incredibly friendly and helpful, and we especially appreciated their prompt service; any issues we had were resolved quickly. A special thank thank you to Sha! The hotel went above and beyond to make our anniversary celebration special with truly unforgettable personalized touches. The television displayed our anniversary message, and we were treated to a delicious cake and found cute elephant towel art waiting on the bed. For our anniversary dinner, the staff arranged a beautiful setup; the table presentation and lights were absolutely stunning. The dining experience was a major highlight. We especially enjoyed that something new was added to the breakfast every day, and the pizza on the rooftop was superb. Additionally, the massage service was top-notch and incredibly relaxing. We also really enjoyed the daily delivery of snacks and juice to our rooms. Excellent job by the cleaning staff—we truly appreciate it! A big thank you to the entire staff for making our stay just that much better and truly memorable.

The team at The Funny Lion made our stay so wonderful. They really looked after us and we had a lovely stay. The hotel itself is beautiful with a real charm and the room was great! The food was delicious and the massages were excellent. We would definitely stay here again in the future. Super clean, calm energy and great value for money.

My partner and I stayed at the Funny Lion Coron, over the Christmas period in December 2025. It was our first stop for our honeymoon. The location is very close to Coron city centre, short tuk-tuk ride away. The atmosphere here in this hotel is incredible. The staff (including Chloe as the main front desk supervisor), have been incredibly helpful, kind, great attention detail, always addressing our by our first names wherever we are in the hotel, and made us feel very welcome. The rooms are perfect and I feel great value. We really appreciated the small touches that the staff would do, including the daily evening sweet treats, with fresh smoothies in the minibar at all times. The resort is clean and very comfortable. The food at the restaurants was great, including the Mexican restaurant - great tacos!! The Christmas Eve dinner was amazing, and the staff put on a great show. They made us feel really special and it was a great start to the honeymoon. One of our favorites about the hotel is Pride Rock rooftop bar. It is a great way to watch the sunset whilst bathing in the hot tub. Funny Lion Coron is a must stay. I'll only be staying at the Funny Lion hotels when visiting Palawan. I would also ask the staff's direction when it comes hotel recommendations and also Boat tour companies as they recommend the best companies, with the best tour guides. We cannot wait to visit again.

Great hotel — the setting is beautiful, the restaurants and breakfast are excellent, and the staff are very helpful and welcoming. The rooms are clean and cosy. The little extra touches and attentions throughout the stay really made a difference; we would have happily stayed longer. I highly recommend it without hesitation! ✨

Excellent hotel! Staff were all so attentive, helpful and lovely. The room and communal areas were all spotless and well kept. As a small hotel, it never felt crowded which was a big plus. The pride deck was an amazing place to sit in the jacuzzi with a cocktail and watch the sunset. The food at both breakfast and the onsite restaurants was excellent. The little welcome gifts, evening sweet treats and daily snacks were nice touches. Would definitely stay again!

The best hotel in Coron for good reason. We stayed at the Funny Lion for 5 days and 4 nights. It is very rare to find a hotel that is all around perfect when it comes to service, food and amenities. This hotel practically has it all. The experience from start to finish was simply flawless! For starters, the hotel was in constant communication with us from booking to departure and they also helped with coordinating travel. Their complementary breakfasts are amazing and the menu rotates daily. They have the best breakfast spreads I've experienced. Happy Hour is offered from 5-7pm on their 4th floor rooftop deck providing killer sunset views which by the way has not one, but two jet tub pools if you prefer to watch the sunset in water versus on the patio chairs. The rooms are clean, modern and the grounds are beautiful. They have on-site security guards which made me feel safe during our stay. They really put a lot of thought in the details of running a hotel chain. Staff was friendly, positive and professional making every moment of our trip memorable. If you find yourself visiting Coron, the Funny Lion is the best hotel for the best value.

This was so unexpected! The picture I saw online does not do have he place any justice! This is a beautiful boutique type hotel. The staff is so wonderful m, they are friendly and accommodating! The rooms We got were all so beautiful. Our room had a private patio and a king size bed. It includes a refrigerator and a safe. The refrigerator is replenished with bottled water and Coke. You will also get specialty Filipino drinks daily. Like buko pandan juice, buko juice, sago gulaman, watermelon slush. They also provide a turn down service with small desserts such as cookies, mousse. Another surprise was that each room came with flip flops to keep and a native bag. All you can eat breakfast is included along with afternoon snacks. Breakfast will consist of different items each day like bacon, longanisa, sardines, chicken, cereal, tablea (chocolate drink), French Press Coffee (local beans), garlic fried rice, bagoong fried rice, egg fried rice, made to order omelet station, banana muffins, kutsinta, puto, bibingka, espasol, local fruits, waffles, pan de sal, sliced bread, fresh squeezed juice (calamansi). Happy hour is from 4-7 at the rooftop with amazing view of the ocean! Great sunset view! This hotel is so clean that I literally will go barefoot inside the room, this is something I never do in hotels!

This is probably the nicest boutique hotel in Coron currently. This was our last stop on our honeymoon and we couldn't wait. We booked for two nights stay at the Funny Lion. Sadly we only got to enjoy it for one night due to our first flight delay resulting in missing our connecting flight into Coron. Although I didn't find the room to be anything amazing, it had a strong AC system, good water pressure, decent bed and spacious - I'm content and comfortable. What I did feel was wonderful, was the service and attentiveness the staffs were. Upon arrival, our room was not ready for us, so they walked us to the boutique-sized restaurant to relax and maybe grab some lunch while they get our room ready. Pretty clever on their part to get the guest to spend some $ because the wait for the room was quite a while. If you'd like to book your tours, just give the front desk a call and they will do the rest. The rooftop bar was the best part of our stay. With 2 jacuzzies on each side, you can enjoy happy hour and some bites while catching the view or even the sunset. I want to especially thank the staffs at the front desk for acknowledging our honeymoon and decorating our room with flowers and a yummy bottle of wine, which we took up to the rooftop to enjoy. After we left our stay with the Funny Lion to our next hotel, we still went back on our last night for the bar. If we ever come back to Coron, you bet we'll be staying here.

Just outside of the main road in Coron is an amazing tranquil resort called the Funny Lion. From the service, food, rooms and don't forget the view, this place is top notch! If you want to treat yo'self, this is a way to do it without breaking the bank (you can go cheaper, but you won't experience this level of professional and incredible boutique hotel and restaurant). I'll be back and I hear several more are being built in the Philippines...and I'll be booking my next trip at them all!

Our best stay so far in the PI! This boutique lodge is a short drive from Coron Town, far enough to have more peace and quiet (I'd still rate it 1 rooster, 3 stray dogs, 2 stray cats, and 2 motorbikes). The staff was very polite and helpful. The room was modern, clean, and well-appointed. There's a free mini-fridge bar with fresh fruits and fresh drinks restocked daily( watermelon, Buko pandan, sweet jelly juice, etc. and Coke) The restaurant is excellent and even made my daughter a cheese sandwich and me arroz caldo (off-menu). I was impressed with the mixture of local and Western cuisine. There were many vegetables to be had (a rarity in the PI). The rooftop bar is breath-taking-with stellar panoramic views which can be enjoyed from two bubble pools. Check out the happy hour drink specials! All in all, an enjoyable stay. They're doing an amazing job highlighting , but also staving off an environment that can rapidly decay buildings. I see they got a mention in Travel and Leisure magazine too!

On a recent visit to Palawan, Travel & Leisure's "world's best island 2016", we stayed at the new Funny Lion Inn in Coron. Touting itself as a boutique hotel ( by Filipino standards), the property is pretty chill, with some nice features, and some quirky faults too. The hotel is about 100 meters from the bay, but the only water views are from the upper floors. The pool area, as well as the roof deck features "bubble tubs", but they're not heated, which would have been nice on a cloudy day. The design is contemporary, and the rooms are comfortable, but a bit minimalist. The breakfast buffet is very good and the a la carte menu is also diverse and creative. The staff aims to please....service is not up to Western luxury standards but it's definitely one of the better options in Coron.

Nice Boutique style resort hotel. We stayed in the Pride room. It is supposed to be their biggest room. For me it is just regular sized room, I am comparing to western standards. The bed is nice and comfy. The rest room and shower room is good sized and modern. Over all, it is a good hotel. Friendly and efficient staff. I will stay here again.

This hotel was the perfect spot for our first trip to the Philippines. They have an amazing roof top bar w/ 2 soaking tubs that are perfect for catching sunsets. (The onion rings are AWESOME) Ian & Kenneth (2 of the hotel staff) made our trip so enjoyable with their outstanding service. I noticed them not only offering to take pictures of groups and couples which I thought was so nice. They gave us great recommendations for food and drinks and even island stops that were different than the typical ones you see on all the tours. We really appreciated how well they took care of us!

The entrance and buildings are fairly unimpressive at first, but the rooms are very nice. There is a great view from the bar on top of the hotel, with two Jacuzzis and a happy hour. Service is top notch and they have a complimentary bar in room with free coke, juice, and sliced fruits. Breakfast is better than standard hotel breakfast, with a good variation. Very close to Coron town, where the boat rentals are.

Funny Lion experience, truly a comfort away from home. From the pick up at the airport to the checkout, this place is world class. It's clean and it's quiet, a place to be if you want to get away from the hustle & bustle of life. Everyone we've encountered for any assistance are hospitable, compassionate, and went beyond expectations. Outstanding services from Noreen, Ian, Brian, Marianne and Maila, always with smile and gentle care, (to management) I truly commend all these personnels. Talk about food, the restaurant will give your tastebuds the travel experience too! To the chef, your artistic options in the menu is very much appreciated! Overall, I'd come back and will recommend this place to all my friends and family.

By far the best hotel i've ever stayed in. The service was incredible. The food is even better if that's even possible. They had a live band at happy hr on the roof top where you can see the sunset. They leave little surprises in your room when you're gone. Everyone was super accommodating. And the resort is close to everything.
