Adventure Travel in Taiwan

"We spent the night at the Gaia Hotel in Beitou’s hot‑springs district and steeped our tired muscles in the mineral baths amid the nighttime sounds of a picturesque garden, taking full advantage of the area’s geothermal offerings." - Travel + Leisure Editors

We’d like to thank the staff, the Director Cain, the manager Jack, and the staff for providing such wonderful service. You’ve all have made our honeymoon so memorable with the outstanding service and special care you have given us. When we arrived, we accidentally left an important piece of luggage in the taxi. The staff went above and beyond to contact the taxi company (even calling the police station), to get in contact with the taxi driver to return our luggage. We couldn’t believe how much effort and care they put into helping us in our time of need. We won’t ever forget this level of kindness. The amenities were also outstanding, there is a full open sulfur air onsen and sauna, private ryokan style bath in our room, complementary snacks and drinks in our room (restocked daily), and other cool amenities! We highly recommend this place, and we will be back! Great gratitude to the staff!

奇岩1號 Tina - 服務最好🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟專業 細心 。 帶領的團隊 Juli / Erna / Pin 一樣優秀。 Excellent dining experience at Qi Yan No.1 — the food was delicious and well prepared. Special thanks to Tina for her outstanding service. She was professional, attentive, and incredibly detail-oriented, making the entire experience smooth and enjoyable. I would also like to compliment her team members Juli, Erna, and Pin. They were all friendly, efficient, and worked together seamlessly. Tina and her team truly represent high service standards and are a great asset to the hotel.

Very impressive hotel with impeccable services. The staff members were very attentive and accommodating. We ordered the birthday package, and it came with a cute handmade cake and a bottle of fizzy alcoholic drink. We also tried the afternoon tea, (southeast Asian fusion cuisine) and was very happy with the breakfast which had many excellent choices (we tried them all!). The mini hotspring inside our room was also great. Overall, would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to visit beitou and we would definitely visit again.

Highly recommended! We were welcomed by Wendy at the front desk who is cheerful and approachable. She ensured we had a comfortable and enjoyable stay throughout the 3 days, and attended to our needs swiftly all the way from check in till check out. The natural mineral sulfur water onsen was awesome, clean and relaxing. It was a great experience and we will be back.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in late October. Our room was nice and we enjoyed the hotel amenities (hot springs, restaurant, gym). Our stay was pleasant, but not as quiet as we'd hoped as there was a noisy family that had children running up and down the hall. The rooms do not insulate you from hallway noises. The staff was kind, helpful and attentive. Most of them spoke a little English, so we didn't have to rely on translator apps unless we were discussing something complicated. The hot springs fill up (they only allow 20 guests max at a time), so I recommend going later in the evening when it is less busy, unless you plan on paying extra to book a private spring. Overall, I would recommend the hotel if you like hot springs. The most disappointing part about our stay was the spa. I got a 90 minute hydrating facial and my husband got a 90 minute massage, which he said was good. For the first 30-45 minutes there was loud karaoke directly beneath the spa rooms, which was not relaxing at all. My treatment was essentially an hour of my face being vigorously washed and scrubbed and a 30 minute upper body massage. The technician was scrubbing my face so hard that afterwards I had gained red spots that still have not faded several weeks later. I will likely have to get laser treatment to fix the damage. I do not recommend you get a facial if you have sensitive skin or are prone to broken capillaries. I expected better from a 5 star hotel spa.

This is not a 5 star hotel. Rooms and hotel facilities are dated, beds are uncomfortable twin beds, and rooms smell musty. The only upsides are that the room has a private hot springs bath and refreshments in the room are included/free. The hot springs area is small - with 2 indoor and 2 outdoor (shallow) baths for women. Service is lacking. I was carrying my luggage up and down stairs with no one offering to help. Additionally, I had to wait and ask for service in the restaurant to order— usually at 5 star hotels, service should be proactive and immediate. I will not be back. And would only recommend if you are looking for very basic amenities - similar to that of a 3 star hotel with a 5 star hotel price tag.

I really enjoyed the shabu-shabu today — it was delicious! Special thanks to Tina and Erna for their kindness and attentive service. The food was wonderful, but their warm smiles and thoughtful care made it even better. I’ll definitely come back again! 😊

First stop on our newly empty nesters trip—and it couldn’t have been a better choice. The private in-room hot spring melted away the exhaustion of a 24-hour flight, and we slept soundly through the night without a trace of jet lag. The beds were incredibly comfortable—firm enough to support a perfect night’s sleep. Honestly, it was the best sleep I’ve ever had in a hotel. The room was a bit on the small side, but the spacious bathroom with its hot spring more than made up for it. The breakfast bar staff were cheerful and welcoming, and the food was delicious. You felt spoiled in the best way. The overall ambiance was calm and pleasant, and we barely ran into other guests—which was a definite plus. Now, for the areas that could use improvement. The facilities weren’t very accessible. You had to make a reservation to use the pool or gym, which felt unusual—especially for the gym. I understand that public hot springs might require scheduling, but the gym? That threw me off. I didn’t end up using any of the facilities since I got plenty of steps exploring the city, but it would’ve been nice to stick to my usual morning workout routine.

Yelp
I didn't stay at the hotel overnight but visited for the public hot springs + afternoon tea snd enjoyed my visit! You can take a shuttle or take a 15-20 min walk (some hills) from the Beitou MRT station. The public hot spring was a fun and relaxing way to spend a few hours! They allow you 4 hours to enjoy the indoor baths, sauna, steam room, showers, outdoor hot springs, and "relaxing room" (a room to hang out and lounge after you're done soaking). There's complimentary water, coffee, teas, Super Supau (nostalgic Asian Gatorade) and some crackers in case you get hungry. The public springs are gender segregated and you go unclothed (but they have little towels in case you want to cover certain parts!). It's nicely decorated and looks like a lush Japanese garden. It wasn't too busy on a weekday afternoon and I mostly had the hot springs and baths to myself as most of the older ladies had finished soaking. Perfect for "shower thoughts" and meditation while soaking. I really liked the cold pool :) Don't forget to hydrate! My parents (who had a private hot springs) and I had afternoon tea afterwards, and from the sound of it, the public springs is a more fun experience than a private one. The afternoon tea presentation of each bite is quite nice (the tea for 2 set has an impressive display!). It came with a drink, salad, savory bites, dessert bites, and a warm chocolate soufflé. Although the soufflé was a little over baked and nothing blew my mind, everything was tasty and enjoyable. We particularly liked the salad which was very refreshing with crisp greens and citrus vinaigrette. My parents thought it was very cute and enjoyed the presentation as well as the variety! Service was fantastic, courteous, and helpful on both the hot springs and dining areas. The hot springs + afternoon tea was $60 USD, so not a bad deal for an experience-- recommend trying Gaia Hotel out! (They also have a very IG worthy library in the lobby)

Yelp
If your in Beitou, Taiwan looking for a hotel with hot springs, I'd recommend checking out this place! Service is excellent!! Each room has a large hot spring tub that 2 can fit in easily together. Fridge is stocked with a variety of drinks and fresh fruits and snacks are replenished daily! They have a large out door pool you can enjoy on the rooftop along with a public hot spring separated by male and female. Make sure you try to get a massage at their in-house SPA ‍. I tried the 90 min Lymphatic Drainage massage (they do massage your chest ladies!) I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it! Breakfast is very good! They do change out some dishes daily so if your staying for a week+, you won't get tired of the food! I tried all their restaurants and I must say it exceeded my expectations, from the Shabu restaurant (get the Wagyu ) to the Western and Eastern restaurant! I really don't have any thing negative to say about this hotel! Nicely done Gaia Hotel! I'll be back!

Yelp
I wish there are more stars. I ran into the hot spring deal with afternoon tea package. The public hot spring makes me feel I'm in Japan. There are indoor and outdoor plus steam room and sauna. I only used outdoor facilities. The entire facility is well maintained and all toiletries are high quality and they thought of everything: break room with snacks and water in different temperatures, toner, hair styling spray, toner, lotion, towels. The tea time was superb though the portion is petite. It's meant to tie over until dinner. The time spent here is well worth the price! I highly recommend.

Yelp
We found an amazing deal for a private hot spring bath room on klook and decided to check this beautiful oasis out. For ~75USD we got 90 minutes in their sleek, modern, and clean hot spring room including amenities and snacks. The check in process was seamless with no wait. When brought to our room we were completely wowed. The room was spacious with a shower, toilet room, sink, resting bed, and of course the hot spring bath. Amenities included in the room were a couple small bags of snacks, Fiji water, and toiletries. 90 minutes felt like plenty of time to shower, enjoy the hot spring, relax on the resting bed, hang out, enjoy the hot spring some more and get ready to leave. There is also a phone in the room to reach the concierge for any of your needs. We needed extra towels and they were promptly delivered. Once we left our private room, there's a waiting/ resting area exclusive to hot spring guests. There were also coffee, tea, and fruits. Outside the hot spring area, The Gaia Hotel has this grand library in the center of the hotel that you can also relax in for as long as you like. I would 100% recommend this experience for anyone who just needs a break from their daily hustle and bustle or couples who need a nice romantic day together. We loved it and would definitely be back if we ever come back to beitou!

Yelp
i booked the public hot springs for 12pm at the Gaia Hotel through Klook app. There is a locker, sauna, steam room, and 4-5 hot springs pool that are different temperatures, shower rooms, a resting area supplied with magazines and coffee/tea. I came on a good day, I had the whole place to myself for 2 hours. There is no time limit, and it was so quiet and peaceful. I love how it shampoo/conditioner, lotion, makeup remover, tonic, hairtye, brush was all supplied to get ready. I love the mini waterfall hot spring pool at 40 degrees. The staff was all so nice, everyone at the Gaia is so nice, highly recommend. I also recommend to go get afternoon tea, about $750 NT on the 1st floor. And also take a cute picture at the library for Instagram. I was not allowed to take my phone to the hot springs but I have other photos of the hotel, see attached.

Yelp
Just up the hill from the city is a row of hot springs resorts. We stayed at the Gaia because we had a luncheon planned the following day. We did not use the onsen (same sex nude hot springs), but we did enjoy the private tub in our room: a waterfall of hot spring water to soak in as a couple. Quite the sulfur smell, but that's the hot springs, eh? The rooms were very clean and had everything needed for a comfortable stay. The staff was so courteous. We also enjoyed the restaurants in the resort. As you can see from Yelp photos, the library in the lobby is quite the photo op as well. On a rainy day (as we had), a short taxi to the train station gets you right into the heart of the city. After enjoying the city, your relaxing room awaits. Breakfast is included in many reservations. All the waters, juice, etc in the room are complimentary as well. Happy hour in the western restaurant from 5:30 - 10:30. Enjoy!

Yelp
Very good Chinese restaurant. Strongly suggest the beef here. An award winning dish. You should try it here.
