Summertown, where the hotel is situated, makes a good base if you can't, or don't want to, stay in central of Oxford. It is a very quick journey (five minustes or so) by bus, with a stop right outside the hotel. The area has some good shops and restaurants in its own right and is quieter than the centre. North Oxford is where a lot of dons, university staff and students live. |We stayed in a spacious double room at The Galaxie, overlooking its attractive back garden. It was a quiet room but I think the rooms vary. Very comfortable bed and good quality bedding, excellent lighting and a fine shower. Everything we could need including hairdryer, use of iron, overhead fan, tea and coffee, fridge, plenty of sockets, good wifi, lots of storage space and a TV that worked very well. The staff were helpful. The hotel has a unique style and a beautiful garden with lots of seats and a little waterlily pool. We didn't have breakfast there but the dining area looked inviting and very clean, as was the room.|As well as having a bus stop right outside the hotel , there is a spacious car park.|An excellent experience and we look forward to our next stay.
