The Galley Restaurant & Bar

My daughter and I dined-in for a Saturday brunch. The interior of restaurant is aesthetically pleasing, and gives a very cozy/comfy vibe. In regards to the customer service, our server (Leah) was excellent. She was attentive, friendly, and professional. In regards to the food, my beet & goat cheese salad was delicious. The crab dip was decent, not the best I've had, but decent. My daughter ordered a pancake platter, and she said it was "OK". Some of the menu items seemed a bit overpriced, but the dining experience (in general) was fairly nice.

What a delightful breakfast we had here! This place is beautiful on the inside and out. When we got there there was no wait (presumable because the weather was poor) and got seated at a nice table with a view of the street. Our waiter was very friendly and had no problem with us using our laptop for an online auction we had to do. We got the breakfast tacos, breakfast skillet, and sausage biscuits with gravy. Each were amazing, especially my biscuits and gravy that came with delicious cheesy scrambled eggs, tater tots, and to die for sausage biscuits with gravy. Both other meals were also excellent. I like that they put a slice of cucumber and a blueberry in the water - it’s a small detail that makes a big difference! Will definitely be getting breakfast here next time we are in St. Michael’s. - also included are pictures of all the menus.

Should have listened to the other reviews. Bottom line, the food, in general, isn't good. The location and atmosphere on a sunny day are fantastic. The facilities are excellent and we had such hopeful expectations. However, the sticky bun was not sticky, had no flavor and was very dry. The eggs, which are claimed to be locally sourced, are cooked in a way that makes them overly fluffy, dry, and without taste. The vegetarian sausage patty (which surely can be hard to do right) was crumbly and bland. Not what you expect when they upcharge $4 for it over regular sausage (which, but the way, did not come with a charge warning). I'd pay $20 for a really good breakfast sandwich -- but not this one. I will say, the tots were great. Crispy outside, tasty, and fluffy inside. Nostalgic. One other minor issue, the server mislead us on the cost to substitute crab for sausage on another plate. The manager refunded 50% of the extra cost, but it was poor form. More importantly, when you charge the prices they do, the food needs to taste much better. This place should be a hard pass.

The ambiance and aesthetic of this restaurant was so beautiful and calming. Our waiter, Molly, was very nice and did an amazing job. The dishes looked amazing on paper, but unfortunately the food quality was not good. I ordered $27 Banzai shrimp which came with shrimp and rice. The shrimps themselves were tiny and flavorless- they honestly tasted like they were shipped in from overseas and not fresh at all. Very disappointing considering the ambiance and facility were beautiful. Our wait staff was very kind but…. I hoped this restaurant would have invested more in fresh, local seafood but I honestly couldn’t even finish the overseas shrimp I paid $27 for.

We hosted our son and future daughter in law's rehearsal dinner this past weekend at the Galley, and it was incredible!! As we entered the restaurant the decor was beautiful and the whole atmosphere felt bridal and inviting. The food was excellent from the appetizer soup & salad, then our shrimp choices, to our main course, and finally a delicious dessert. Jen and her staff at the Galley went above and beyond! They were so welcoming and catered to our every need, making this evening even more memorable and meaningful for us. Thank You so much

We had an amazing brunch at The Galley in Saint Michael’s, and every bite was outstanding! The food was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The Sunnyside Up Skillet was cooked to perfection, and the English muffin was the ideal complement. The Caramel Apple Sticky Bun was an absolute showstopper—warm, gooey, and packed with just the right amount of sweetness. The Aloha Sunrise Smoothie was refreshing and delicious, the perfect start to the meal. The Breakfast Quesadilla was hearty and flavorful, especially with the added bacon and sausage. Beyond the food, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was welcoming. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, this place is a must-try for brunch. We’ll definitely be back!

We stopped in for an early lunch/brunch meal after some morning shopping. The food was delicious and the staff was friendly. They were helpful with recommendations from the menu. Huge portions of really tasty food. Only complaint was the day was warm and there was no AC in the dining room, so that was tough. But I guess that’s to be expected with old houses. Will definitely be back!

We stopped in for breakfast on a rainy Saturday. They have indoor seating, an outdoor patio, and a covered patio. We sat on the covered patio. The menu has something for everyone, and plenty of healthy options as well. We had the breakfast skillet, which my husband said was fine but not outstanding. I had the crab cake Benedict, order it, you won't regret it! Also had a delicious bloody Mary. They have lots of drink options and you can get a double and take home a souvenir tumbler.

We came for a Sunday brunch and had an amazing time. The drinks were strong and they gave you a decent amount! The food was tasty and the patio had great ambiance. The staff were all very well trained and kind. They even brought our 1 year old daughter a cute little water cup! I would definitely go back when I visit st.Michaels!

Wow! The place to have breakfast in St Michael's - family and dog friendly. What a wonderful spot. This is a 5 star spot, the BEST maple syrup Bloody Mary I've ever tried. Sweet and spicy, the mix I didn't know I was missing. The service was friendly and the food was delicious. Can't recommend them enough. Pro tip: get there early, and grab an amazing spot outside. The seafarers omelet pairs well with hollandaise sauce. And yes, get the tumbler!

Only 3 stars because we only had one appetizer and two drinks. We will be coming back to try the full menu for an updated rating. Known for their bloody Mary's, was very flavorful but just wasn't for us. If you like those type of drinks, you'd definitely love it! Crab dip was plenty full & enjoyable, could definitely taste the chunks of crab meat. Found it a little expensive for an appetizer. Servi

We have dined here several times this holiday weekend. Food continues to be bountiful and very tasty. There are many options to choose from. Fresh cold-pressed juice is available each day. Often based on what is in season. All dogs welcome outside on large patio. Oh! The tater tots are truly perfect!

I had a good breakfast here. I liked the buttermilk biscuits with sausage gravy. I liked the crispy tater tots that it came with and the eggs were decent. Being able to sit outside on a nice day was great.

Staff was amazing. Ambience is great and I can't wait to visit again to check out the roof rooftop and the upstairs sitting area. Best place on Talbot Street.

We got right in on a Sunday morn . I had the breakfast taco. Beans hard , cheese hard . The biscuit that came with was hard as a rock . Couldn't even bite down on it . Atmosphere nice . Not much to say about service .

After spending the night at St. Michaels, we wanted to grab some breakfast before we left. My husband and I walked by and they proclaimed they had the best breakfast, so we decided to stop by. I got the lox wrap, which was nothing really special. He got a breakfast with pancakes, eggs, bacon. It came with a biscuit, but it was so stale it was inedible. Between the two of us, the bill came out to $50+ (we both got OJ). I don't think I can justify the prices for the quality of food we got. The service was okay. I think we may opt for a better option next time...

We got sucked in by the outdoor seating. I wish I would have read reviews first. I would give it a 3.5. Service was slow and mediocre. We weren't disclosed there would be an up charge for switching out English muffins for biscuits which was $6 on an already $39 breakfast, tad crazy. My husband enjoyed it but our bill was $ 85. The gravy was good but I really could have just had that, didn't need the eggs or the extra sausage patty between the biscuit. Hash browns were good.

I can't vouch for the food or drink as we were never served. Sat outside for lunch an a Friday. Someone tossed menus at us and kept going. We left 10 minutes later once we saw the 4 top who was already seated when we arrived, were also without drinks or a server. We were really the only few tables of customers.

Breakfast food was McDonalds quality. Pre-made scrambled eggs, pancakes looked like they were zapped in a microwave, straight from the freezer tots, and below average bacon. Nice location - i'd only ever come back for drinks.

We were there for Sunday brunch party of 7 with 2 kids, 3 and 6 years. We asked to be seated, the hostess said that they can only accommodate only group of 6 or under. We asked if we can just order one thing for the kids since they don't eat that much. She refused. As we walked out we noticed there were a group of 8 adults eating. All the patrons in the restaurant were Caucasian. We are a non-white group. It might not be, but it sure felt that we were denied service due to our ethnicity. Too bad I was looking forward to try out the crab cakes and bottomless mimosas. Unfortunately I have to give them one star.

This great breakfast restaurant is a real winner! We enjoyed different selections the three days we were in town. The service is spot on and attentive. Everything we tried was great and the bottomless mimosas on Sunday is a real deal! One morning we tried the loaded Bloody Marys and they were delicious. The selection is vast and there is something for everyone. We definitely will plan to visit next time we are in the area.

Came here for breakfast and the food, service, and drinks did not disappoint! We sat on the patio with our dogs and it was perfect. Their breakfast was insanely good with a great variety of options. The service was fast despite being very crowded. We will definitely be back!!

Food - The food is bland at best including the not sticky sticky bun and the flavorless sausage gravy - The orange juice was really good Service - Our server would disappear for many minutes at a time - We had to ask for water numerous times - When I asked for ketchup, the server returned with 3 ketchup packets that she had to fumble around in here apron for. Ambiance - It was nice to be outside and in the shade.

Our third visit to The Galley after having two horrible food and service experiences has proven to be just a terrible restaurant. All three experiences were identical: breakfast food that seemed to be scooped out of a plastic food service bucket rather than cooked to order. The telltale sign is then the eggs are square shaped and chalky. The pastry's were dry and not fresh. The pancakes were like cardboard. We waited over an hour to be served which made us late for an event we were attending. The excuse was: we have a table of 20... if you're going to take a table of 20, then don't seat other patrons if you can't handle the capacity. The owner of this restaurant really needs to take a hard look at their food, processes, and revamp their execution. This restaurant is always packed BUT it's only a matter of time before people stop going here as other local restaurants are starting to serve breakfast, brunch and lunch. I hate to see a small business close its doors so please take the negative reviews seriously and get this restaurant back on track.

Just left the Galley in SM- great ambiance and food was delicious. We had the Apple and Brie panini and and the caprese sandwich- both top notch, especially paired with the homemade chips! Molly was our server - she was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive! Thanks for a great experience!

Literally established a Yelp account so I could review this restaurant. In a word, the dining experience here was terrible. I'll start with the best thing about this restaurant, the historic home/bank provided a wonderful ambiance. Great location in St Michaels, but that's unfortunately where the positive comments end. Service was abysmal. We didn't have contact with our waitress for nearly 30 minutes. After waiting for water for 20 minutes, I had to go to the bar to fill my own glass. Food was insanely overpriced. I got the Southwest Salad with chicken, which was $9 dollars for 7 pieces of cold, cubed chicken added to a TGIF salad bar style salad. I would have been happy to prepare this in my own kitchen before work, but would be embarrassed to charge $25 in public. I wish this place the best of luck because the staff was friendly (on the off chance we interacted) but it's among the worst dining experiences for the cost I can remember. The town might have fooled the British, but don't let the Galley fool you into thinking it's anything more than an overpriced and poorly staffed option in an otherwise great town.

Ignored the ratings and boy am I glad we did. Had an amazing breakfast burrito and the boss had a skillet. Amazing food, really nice staff. Not sure where the 3.5 rating comes from but definitely ignore the haters, the breakfast here is awesome. We'll be back!

I ate there at a recent visit to St Michaels. It is an awesome shore town to visit. Location: it is the best pet of the Galley. You can't miss it as t is one of the most noticeable eateries on the Main Street. Decor: it looks very beach in the outside with a perfect combination of blue and whites. Ample seating outside. Parking in the back. Service: it is OK. Felt like some collage kid who was doing Ilya a favor. Food: my crab dip was crap! I had to abandon it after a few bites. I am still wondering if it was the dip or the stale pretzels. My sandwich was OK. It is a nice spot and if you want to hang outside and people watch probably wort it.

Terrible. Food was completely bland and very expensive. Ordered a roast beef sandwich with cheese and horseradish sandwich. BLAND!!! No flavor and $18.00. Cocktails were mediocre. The 5 other people with me had the same experience. The service was "okay". Had the food been better would not have been an issue. Will not be back. Clearly a SISCO meal.

So to start we needed a Dog Friendly Restaurant. Next it's a Breakfast & Lunch Restaurant with plenty of outdoor seating! A good menu of Breakfast or Brunch l, Serving Signature Drinks! So we upgraded to Fancy Glass Bloody Mary, we also placed our Food order at the same time! I prefaced this became it the Drink arrived quickly the Food were still waiting, Seriously, the food took over 50 minutes after the drinks we had to ask our Waitress what the issue was, she came back with the food and had to be sitting on a Counter somewhere and it was COLD So being that it's a Resort Eclectic town there are a limited number of Restaurants so know that if you need a Restaurant that allows Dogs know that you're limited! I'll make it myself next

My sister and I went to The Galley over the weekend. The restaurant was cute and the food was good...not great but good. But that wasn't the problem. The problem was the enormous amount of flies in the restaurant. There were more flies inside than outside. The other problem was the dismissive attitude of the owner (that's how she introduced herself). She said was aware of the problem and pointed to a fly trap by the bar (that needed to be replaced). We explained to her about our experience due to the flies and she said she was doing "all that she could". We thought of several other ways to help combat this problem, but she said she was doing all that she could. You should have seen all of the other restaurant patrons swatting away the flies from their table. It made for a bad experience and it seems as if the owner doesn't have a problem with her patrons constantly being inconvenienced with their fly infestation. Take care of that!!!

Would recommend! Especially the beet and goat cheese salad. Don't forget to double your drink for the tumbler

Amazing brunch, tasty spicy bloody Mary's, excellent atmosphere, and great customer service. Highly recommend this restaurant to any and everybody.

The place is busy so they are obviously doing some things right, but no one even acknowledged us for at least 15 minutes. When they did, they dropped off the water and said they'd be back....they didn't come back. I get being slammed but a little politeness goes a long way.

Worth the trip from DC/ Reston just for the amazing bacon and egg biscuit and loaded Old Bay Bloody Mary! Great location on main strip downtown, nice patio dining, friendly hostess and excellent service. Free WiFi if you ask.

The food is pricey but delicious; but this is the third time in a month that I've tried to go back to this business during posted operating hours and they are continuously randomly closed which is very frustrating. Makes it difficult to believe I could ever go back.

Stop...proceed with caution. I had their biscuits and gravy which were ok, the eggs looked like powdered eggs, the sausage in between the biscuits was meh, lastly there were tater tots. This food reminded me of my years in the military and going to the dining facility for breakfast. Typically in a sausage biscuits and gravy the sausage is cooked with the gravy not placed in between biscuits. A dish like this would come with home fried style potatoes or hasbrowns and not tater tots. I ate most of my meal because I was hungry, but definitely didn't enjoy it.

Went there for breakfast. Bloody Mary was watered down, Sunnyside skillet eggs were way overcooked. The worst was the Crab Cake Benedict - $39.50 for crab cakes that were mediocre - mostly deviled crab with a few pieces of lump crab. First and last time - wasted $100 on a crappy breakfast with mediocre service.

We were on our way to a different place when we walked right by this restaurant. The place was popping for brunch and the outdoor seats were inviting. We walked right in and since they have plenty of outdoor tables, we were able to get seated fairly quickly. Everything was great! Location was nice and breezy; it was right there in the downtown area and a short walk from the public parking lot. They were also very kind to my dog and brought him a water bowl without me asking. Food and drinks were even better. The highlight for me was the Bloody Mary. It was very balanced and I loved all the toppings. It also looked very appetizing and checkout that toothpick with a shell at the end! I got the breakfast burrito for my meal and it was delicious. The tater tots were perfectly crisp and they were quite accommodating when I asked for the beans and sour cream to be on the side. The servings were quite sizeable and the biggest plus for me is the price! I was coming from Baltimore so was pleasantly surprised that my amazing meal was cheaper than I expected. Will definitely be coming back when I'm visiting the area!

Awesome. Really Good spot. We had breakfast twice while in town. Sorta hoped for a lunch too it was so good. New must visit for us when visiting! Great outdoor seating.

The staff here are absolutely amazing their Sunday morning breakfast is the best in Saint Michaels unless you want to go to Perry Cabin. I think you'll find the food to be amazing and their dishes are very creative.

The BEST crab cakes eggs Benedict, super fluffy scrambled eggs; and tasty mimosas. The Big Breakfast was just okay, i won't order it again. The place was clean, the server was very friendly, drinks; and food came out quickly.

Stopped by for breakfast. My husband had crab cake egg Benedict and I had buddhas' favorite. Food is as expected as American comfort food for modern days. Fresh veggies and fluffy scrambled egg are the delight in texture. Hollandaise sauce was very good. Not too heavy but not too light, just right. Buddha's favorite uses generous amount of smoked salmon and very satisfying. Both dish came with Tater tots. It was really nice sunny morning of October and we had a table outside. It came with nice cushioned chair and a warm blanket, which I appreciated. Server was very nice, checked in with us a few times, and always smile on her. They charge 4% credit card convenience fee. Cash would go extra miles.

Best place for breakfast or lunch! The waffles out here are amazing top it off with either chocolate chips or fresh fruits plus sugar and whip cream! BCrab cakes were also amazing!

The crab cake, sushi and Bloody Mary were fabulous! The mimosas were just orange juice and the service left a lot to be desired. The flies were annoying but that isn't the Galley's fault, it's just something to consider if there is no breeze. The very young hostesses were super nice but in way over their heads with the Sunday crowd. The restaurant needs some more experience in that position. The service was slow and a bit disorganized. My recommendation would be to come when it's not crowded and see if it's buggy before you decide to dine outdoors because the food was awesome

It's been a minute since I've had such a terrible experience somewhere and I was initially so excited to try this place out. Heads up that the food takes forever to order - my crab soup came out after 20+ minutes. Let's not forget that they advertise the best crab cakes around and my crab cakes were FULL of shells. My friend was horrified that every bite had multiple fragments of crab shells and the worst thing was that when I told my waiter, she didn't apologize or offer to bring me anything else. Very disappointed (and confused how this place has 4 stars)!

Lovely place for breakfast, especially outside on a nice day to people watch. The prices are a bit high but it is a tourist town. Their tater tots were phenomenal and would come for those alone. Don't come expecting a quick turnaround, just come to enjoy a lunch on a day away. Easy to walk through to all the different St. Michael's shops and sites!

I hate to do this. But the food was gross. Who puts tater tots on a breakfast menu? The ones my daughter bakes at home taste better. This food tasted like something that is served in a public school cafeteria. The eggs not scrambled, they were powdered and gross! The pancakes? Well I am sure the local Frozen section at the grocery store is where they came from. I was so dissatisfied with the food. The service was not good either, it was not terrible but definitely not anything to write home about. The bad part is we didn't have yelp because service is non existent in this quaint town. Perhaps lunch is better. Cute area, but the food and service were not good. The overpriced mimosa was good and pretty strong. It was also presented very well, perhaps that's why they slapped the price tag on it. So bad we won't back.

Hello fellow yelpers- if you ask local which restaurants you should hit for breakfast on your visit to St Michael's the Galley is gonna make the short list. We made it for breakfast but I'm sure lunch and dinner would also be good.. The galley has all the qualities you look for in a great restaurant great food, awesome service nice location reasonably priced, all the boxes checked.. we had a group of four couples seating for 8 was slower than normal but they went out of their way to seat us fast and in a nice locations. Tips Go for breakfast, sit on the patio. The pastry , apple caramel sticky bun and pecan sticky bun were crazy good, don't pass them up. Also the Best breakfast sandwich (on an everything bagel) seemed to be our group's favorite after a few visits for breakfast. A shout out for the service! Your wait staff is key to your experience and honestly we could ask for more/better attention. They were friendly, efficient and had a great balance of getting you everything you need and letting you enjoy the company you came with. (Hard to do while delivering many cups of coffee)

Avoid this restaurant. Better options available. The service was awful, our waitress felt like she was doing us a favor. The wait staff needs better training by an actually experienced restaurant manager. Food- Not good. The crab cakes were not cooked properly (undercooked) , too many crab shell pieces. Not many options for sides, no fries or coleslaw? Oh and the bathroom, oh my. There is only one bathroom for the whole restaurant and its upstairs with a long line of people waiting. Will not repeat again, the prices here were the same as the lunch menu a Stars restaurant at the Inn at Perry Cabin!!!

Love the location and the service was great. They also have fabulous bloody Mary's. However, the prices don't match the food. I ordered the Asian Salad and a quarter of the ingredients were missing when I received my plate. I looked down and it was just a pile of lettuce, cucumber, and avocado. For $14 I would think there would be a bit more on the plate. They also forgot to put the almonds and wontons on my salad. I can not believe I paid $14 for lettuce and cucumber. Jaw dropping. Next time, make sure your kitchen is putting all the ingredients on the food so I don't feel like I paid $14 for a $5 salad.

I'm sorry we spent the morning here. Terrible food - nothing seemed to be made from scratch... portions were teeny and way over priced. Will not recommend. Service was slower than the speed of adaptation.

The service was attentive. The crab dip appetizer was okay. Served with pretzel bites.. Super Pretzel type that one buys at the local supermarket. The app also included saltine crackers... they saved the day. The pretzel bites were not good at all. The patty melt was good... served on rye bread. Chicken salad was as expected. If i returned to St Michael's, I would explore other options.
