"Grub in an Old Garage On Main Street in downtown Bozeman, the Garage is a funky place for a casual meal. Car parts hung on the walls and license-plate-frame menus (not to mention the name of the place) reveal the eatery’s former life as a fix-it shop. Now the space serves suped up diner fare such as bison burgers with grilled mushrooms and Swiss cheese. Be sure to visit the self-serve “soup shack” where the cooks’ latest creations might include sausage and mustard, green chili pork, or Thai coconut soup. Save room for a huckleberry ice cream dessert."

Local Yellowstone beef make these burgers some of the best in town. Great patio atmosphere out on Main Street. Excellent selection of tap beers. Biggest veggie tray as an appetizer I’ve ever had with great dip! (Fully enough for 2-3 people to have a ‘salad’ before downing a burger.) Loved seeing locally made Hot Mamma Salsa on the menu (I eat tubs full at home.) Plus it was fun to see old photos of the place inside on one of the tables - that it really was a gas station and shop back in the day! Pretty awesome!

Google
Great styling of the place, good burger (9-13$) and pulled pork sandwich. Beers on tap, lots of seating in stylist booths or table and car garage design. Delicious sauteed veggie as sub to fries. Little wait to be seated on sun at 2pm and little wait for the food, but worth it.

Google
This is a local hot spot! Can be really crowded but not often. Great atmosphere, check out the back bathroom. Good selection of burgers, ribs etc. Outdoor seating is nice. Very friendly and fun place.

Google
Great food, beverages and outside atmosphere! Would highly recommend this eatery to anyone traveling to the area! Be sure to eat some of their homemade soup! Delish 👍

Google
Great grain fed beef burgers, nice selection of in house made soups. Definitely worth a visit.

First visit to The Garage. My son is at MSU and recommended it for dinner. Funky decor, service was GREAT. Attentive, polite and quick. Food was good, burgers were cooked just right and tasty. Fries looked run of the mill, but were actually good, a little different than most joints. Only quibble? A little pricey: $62 for 4 of us for burgers and soft drinks plus tip. I guess you pay a little more for uniqueness and variety. Good stop for change of pace from the regular burger and fries place.

Google
The kids absolutely love this place. They have a kid's play area and serve Kraft mac n' cheese and giant milk shakes. What more could you ask for as a kid? As an adult? It's okay. Burgers and sandwiches on the ciabatta are difficult to eat. Everything tastes good and the prices are reasonable. It has a fun atmosphere and some good local beer on tap. Cleanliness could use some attention, though. A little dusting in the rafters could go a long way.

Google
Great soups and burgers. My continual favorite is their split pea with ham soup. Prices seem a bit on the high side but the food comes well prepared and as you requested. Staff is friendly and they have a nice play area for the children. The last time we were in there heavy metal was on the playlist over the restaurant speakers. It is difficult to enjoy a meal with somebody screaming at me. That was enough to knock a star off their rating.

Yelp
Solid but nothing crazy on draft. Wish they were more local or rarer west coast stuff. The bottle shop is great. Tons of selection and rare / harder to get West coast stuff like Breakside and Great Notion.

Yelp
Shine Beer Sanctuary has a variety of beer on tap and bottle. The seating area is large and fun, perfect for large groups. I tried the Huckleberry cider and it was tasty. They also have a shop in which you can grab bottles of beer, t-shirts, glassware and stickers. Everyone that helped us was super nice. FYI It's attached to a restaurant so you can grab a bite to eat and a beer.

Yelp
Solid spot for hangs and a drink. They had a lot of different seating available inside and outside. Their drink selection was extensive with something for everyone. Games were available to be borrowed. Got their loaded chips with carne asada. It was decent although I would recommend getting sauces on the side. Service was good with most of place being counter service.

Yelp
My group decided to each do beer flights which were very well priced and allowed us to try 4 of the of many delicious beers SHINE has to offer. SHINE offers many different places to sit including the outside on the patio, rooftop deck, and indoor seating which are perfect for any vibe!
google avatar

Laura C.

Yelp
What a unique place. We loved the food and the beer. The staff was super helpful and suggested some beer options for my flight based on what I normally like. The food was really good! We stopped in the shop and got a beer to go and a shirt. We would have loved to purchase the card game they have at the tables. Great space inside and out. We also loved it was dog friendly.
google avatar

Yelp
The beer was delicious and selection was broad. Really enjoyed the casual and comfortable setting and warm staff. We had the loaded chips, and they were good as well.

Yelp
During a series of whistle stops in Bozeman I decided to make SHINE one of those stops to check out their bottle shop inventory. Indeed I found a lot of brands that I wasn't familiar with as many of them were local or within the state of Montana. These are brands that cannot be often be obtained where I live in Washington state. So I was a kid in a candy store reading all of the different craft beers. In the end I got a modest amount of beer to enjoy at a later time and from breweries that were on my list to try for a while. So definitely a well coordinated stop out of the many I did while in Bozeman.
google avatar

Yelp
Everything you could possibly want from a quality beer tap and food purveyor. Tons of brew styles that should provide unique options for all types of beer drinkers. I was impressed with their stout selections, including some rarities from past years. They allow you to get any four for a flight, and at reasonable prices. They also keep their selections sorta frequently updated online. As for the food options, there's a burrito and bowl creation line where you can order a number of fast Mexican (and some other types) choices. It's not going to win any culinary trophies, but it can hit the spot with a beer or two. Plus, there's ample seating inside and out to enjoy your choices, all in a well-designed and modern feeling space. If you're in the area and enjoy beer, this is a must! It's very conveniently located in the heart of downtown, to boot!

Yelp
probably the most amazing experience in my entire life, pure glory welcomed with soup and beer from every universe. If you do not come here you have failed, the environment is flawless. Try the tomato soup you must, the employees are very accommodating with ciabatta, so well done!

Yelp
When you want to hang outside with friends and/or fam and have a bite and a couple of beers this is the place to go. Strong tap list with options for every craft brew drinker. There is an emphasis on Montana brews but they are not exclusive. List available at https://www.shinebeer.com/on-tap Food: bowls, burritos and tacos. Nothing amazing but all good and pair well with beer. Menu here https://www.shinebeer.com/lapa Check out the covered deck on the topside.

Yelp
What a great place to chill with a great selection of beer. The outdoor space is fantastic both the street level patio and the upstairs patio. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the beer/sour selections. We've eaten here in the past and it was delicious.
google avatar

Celie H.

Yelp
Food is just ok but beer selection is out of this world for Bozeman. Appreciate the dog friendly seating and kind people, too. Indoor and outdoor seating. There's a fun bottle shop if you don't have time to sit down.

Mary O.

Yelp
We enjoyed the cool atmosphere. The bison tacos were very savory. The staff were friendly and responsive. They have eccentric restrooms.

Julia V.

Yelp
Excellent food, you can tailor it to just what ingredients you want. We enjoyed the ales too. Nice atmosphere, casual and comfortable.
google avatar

Nicole C.

Yelp
Really cool place. Fantastic beers, great service and super cool atmosphere!! They have board games you can play while enjoying your beer and a nice upstairs patio. The restrooms are funny! There's also food available next door.
google avatar

Katie J.

Yelp
Wow - so delicious!! Flexible, interesting menu that yields extremely flavorful food! I had the Bombay burrito with fajita veggies - it was OUTSTANDING! Hubby had the Buffalo burrito and he ate every bite ( less the one he shared with me) - delicious!! Nice atmosphere, clean bathrooms and friendly staff. Didn't break the bank and it is home cooked, healthy fare!! We will be back when we are here on future trips.
google avatar

Yelp
Sorry pasta wasn't up to your standard - the manager said. Great atmosphere but even I can cook better than this. Bon appetite

Yelp
I grew up in Bozeman and it's my hometown. I remember when La Parilla came in and loved it so much it was a weekly meal for my family. Now I'm older and a snowbird but wanted my Wrap of Khan today so we drove to Bozeman from Helena where we're snowbirds. First off I can't believe how bad La Parilla has gotten when it comes to small town cooking and service, it's awful. Most importantly I ordered 2 burritos to freeze in Helena and took one out to have a bite and swallowed my bite and I choked on this bone. My husband was terrified I would choke to death so helped with a Heimlich maneuver. Picture is below of the bone. Be careful when ordering chicken in your food there.

Yelp
Gluten Free Beer Awesome customer service, and one of the few places in downtown Bozeman that sells GF beer ! My mother in law had Celiac, and she loved the Vanishing point beer.
google avatar

Nyah S.

Yelp
The bison burrito....incredible. This place reminds me of a better version of Chipotle. The workers were all so so sweet.
google avatar

Tatiana D.

Yelp
A great selection to pick from. Claire was amazing to help me pick the right beers for my taste. Doesn't really have any food selection beside chips/salsa and some meat sticks but attached is a spot to get some food so all in all it's a def must do in Bozeman
google avatar

Natalie W.

Yelp
I'm not even a beer drinker but you can't beat great atmosphere, great variety, and great service. This was our first stop in Montana. What a way to kick off our week here. Thanks, Bozeman!
google avatar

Yelp
Cool place to grab a beer with a friend. We sat upstairs which was busy but still quiet enough to have a conversation. Interestingly the upstairs taps were closed so you had to go to the main bar downstairs and wait in line since they only had two beer tenders. I would have ordered another beer if it weren't for that, but the line was long and we didn't want to wait or lose our table. The staff was friendly and the beer choices were fun and interesting with a sample from many breweries near and far.
google avatar

Dave C.

Yelp
Aa amazing selection of craft beers with attached build-your-own Mexican restaurant LaPa Grill and Soup Shack. I appreciated the overall atmosphere and the friendly, passionate owner, Travis.

Hannah B.

Yelp
LOVE THIS PLACE! The variety of seating is great - patio, long community tables, booth seating, and back room couch/cushy chairs as options for whatever your vibe is. The rooftop was closed when I went during a rainstorm, but all the seating was awesome. Game options were plentiful and fun, drinks were AWESOME (wine and cider options too!!) and the food was good though the menu was small (burritos or bowls or salads... that's about it). Family friendly and very nice staff. Their shop room also had other beer options for purchase, sorted and labeled by type of beer which I loved for making a DIY 4 pack. This place put a smile on my face!

Yelp
Supposed to close at 10 or 11 pm but actually locked the doors at 8:50. Walked a long time in the cold heading toward a verified venue only to need to turn around
google avatar

René S.

Yelp
Grreat choice of beers! Nice patio and roof terrace please note only the patio in front that's dog friendly . But that s ok Food at neighboring taco soup shack is ok but not excellent
google avatar

Sireesha R.

Yelp
Fun spot for a group. It gets crowded but you get your food right away so that helps. Kids options are good and the price isn't bad. Great location right in downtown, easily able to walk to shops, etc.

Marcie C.

Yelp
Excellent service!!! Huge variety of local beers on tap!! Be sure to get the nachos with braised pork from Lapa Grill!! Yummm!! Such a fun place to hang out and play cribbage! The water tap was a welcome sight also!
google avatar

Sara M.

Yelp
We walked in and were quickly greeted by staff who were eager to talk beers. I like sours and the bartender helped me to put together a flight of four with some really unusual things on it. There are a ton of rotating local beers that feel really well thought out in that there is something for everyone. We were encouraged to go up to the roofdeck and another staffer helped us to get settled out on the patio. It was a beautiful day and the views are nice. We also ordered the loaded chips with green chili salsa and they were delicious - a good amount of toppings for the chips and just the right amount of spice. You an order burritos, bowls and chips, and they will customize them if you want. I loved hanging out here and recommend you give it a shot when you are in Bozeman. I wished we had time to come in here again during our visit.

Phil K.

Yelp
The fish tacos should be called minnow tacos. Smallest pieces of fried fish I have ever seen. The three pieces of fish on my 3 tacos added up to one small fish stick. Pitiful.
google avatar

Teresa H.

Yelp
Just to be fair- I'm not reviewing the food- we just came for drinks on a Saturday afternoon. The outdoor area, especially upstairs is amazing- who doesn't want to enjoy beers on a patio with mountain views? There's also a little bottle shop attached and the beer menu is pretty extensive. We spent a few hours on the patio sampling a handful of different beers- so nice to have variety, and service was great. Also, just have to mention... "The Dude" mural in the bathroom is SO fun!
google avatar

Amlyn Noah C.

Yelp
How many sandwhiche's can one try in a season? Anyone say Beer? It is always Beer Thirty here! Every sandwhich we have tried is d-lish! Hubby likes the darker beers. Very fun little place. Prices are reasonable.

Kyle R.

Yelp
Awesome spot with an absolutely amazing bee selection. I'm just glad they have other than IPAs.. and the local beers are abundant and easy to spot on the menu. Montana has some good beers. The owner was so nice. Meat sticks, and nachos were great. The Belgium double beer was my favorite! Nice 2nd floor deck too.
google avatar

Debbie A.

Yelp
So I actually ate at the soup and burrito place inside here. I would leave a review for that but they are not on yelp. We had a jambalaya bowl with the works which was spicy and amazing. I also had a cup of tomato bisque which was made even better by adding some of the jambalaya. You can come in and eat and drink and then go next door and buy the beer in a bottle to go. I will say there was a great selection of beer from ipas to stouts. I love the whole set up and vibe of this place and if I lived here would come here more often. The burritos are not your normal burritos think an upgraded chipotle with fish. The premade are kinda an asian mexican fusion or choose your own ingredients.
google avatar

Teresa A.

Yelp
We stopped by the bottle shop on our way to Big Sky. WOW! Nice selection of local beers. The worker was very knowledgeable about each product. Would recommend this spot to stop.

Yelp
La Parrilla used to be a Bozeman staple in my life. It used to be employed by weirdos, who liked their job and stuck around, and made consistent amazing food. Now, it's just another Bozeman eatery. I still go, but I never know what I'm getting anymore. Missing ingredients, HUGE sways in portions, and constantly seeing new staff members that just look like deer in the headlights. When I say "house style", there's always a pause, there was never a hesitation at the old location. But, I don't assume this will change now that they have their new location, with their hipster/yuppy bar attached. It's such a bummer. My most recent visit, today, I paid $24 for a blackened salmon & chicken alfredo. I asked if I could sub guac for the ricotta in the salmon, they said "sure no problem" but was still charged for guac. The portions, were just sad. My chicken Alfredo was a flat layer of noodles at the bottom of a to go container with sauce on it. I exposed the corner in the picture to show. It made me sad really. As a local I've been trying to support the businesses I like during the tough times we're in, but charging full price for something like this makes me feel like the business is just grabbing at my money. And it is MY money, I'm blue collar. I just can't justify supporting this business anymore, I'm sure my absence will have zero affect.

Yelp
Variety of beers. Loved 1664. Not pricey. Other drinks that party enjoyed.. Dream patch, Indian Ale. Pet friendly and huge outdoor seating.

Denise K.

Yelp
Great spot! Large beer variety and good food! Fun to sit outside and enjoy the view while sipping tasty beer Friendly staff...highly recommend
google avatar

Aizey M.

Yelp
Soooo disappointing. The fact that you have to pay for your beer and your food at different times is annoying. The food was 2 out of 10 honestly. The fish tacos were not good. By the time they actually got all our orders (there were 4 of us) my tacos were cold. The guacamole is ALWAYS brown. I'm just extremely sad that the garage is gone.
google avatar

Yelp
I went to Shine bi-weekly before the pandemic hit and loved it. The freedom to order and pay at my leisure is always a plus with 4 kids. No waiting for a waitress is something I value! Since this past March I have only gone in, very rarely, to the Bottle Shop and it is the best beer selection in town, by far. Bozeman has needed this for a long time! The staff is beyond friendly and always helpful, at a nice distance. If you're a beer fan, or want to learn, Shine is the place to go! I'm not sure how I would've coped these past 8 months without their incredible selection and kindness.
google avatar

Jan B.

Yelp
This used to be called The Garage. It has the same great soup & sandwiches, but they've added a bar with a variety of beers on tap. Try it. You'll like it!
google avatar

Amber M.

Yelp
I really want to love this place. I've had multiple visits to shine in the last couple of months. And no complaints about their beer selection everything they serve is amazing. Although I love their food, every time I come in and order even something to go, they serve me the most measly portions. For example I went in a few nights ago and ordered a build your own bowl to go and for each item I asked for they barely gave me even a spoonful! And not to mention chips! When I ordered a bag to go he gave me a bag that was barely like ten chips! I don't know if it's how they're being trained to serve the food or if the employees just don't want to give you the deserved portion but that does not seem right. Their food staff is usually so low energy and not very friendly, and make it super awkward for you standing there even after the transaction has gone through expecting a tip. Don't get me wrong I work in the food service industry and am a very avid tipper and always do my very best to be kind and inviting to customers even when tired but I have not been satisfied with my experience and have tried to give them multiple chances.

Yelp
Visiting friends from out of town. Great choice of beers. Had the prickly pear and tangerine IPA... delicious! Food spot inside was also great!
google avatar

Glenda L.

Yelp
This is a great place to hang with friends. Tacos are really great. Good place to try out the craft beers. Has a huge selection!! They have board games to play with a group of friends. If you go there go into the first bathroom on the right. It's a trip!! Check it out you won't be disappointed. Great time, good memories!!
google avatar

Shelly W.

Yelp
So glad we discovered this place on our recent trip to Bozeman! Super nice staff, awesome vibe, amazing beer and cider selection including Stem cider from Colorado which we were stoked about. Loved the little beer shop in the back. Didn't get to try the food as we filled up on cider but definitely will try next time we're in town! The 'Dude' bathroom mirror is just brilliant!

James V.

Yelp
This is a great place for beer and food. Unfortunately it was poorly designed for cold weather. On a recent visit when the temperature outside was below 20 degrees F, the tempertature inside was below 60 F. As such customers were all sitting around in their jackets and hats to stay warm. This is not a good environment for happy customers.
google avatar

Wayne B.

Yelp
This is for the bottle shop portion of this place. The selection is freaking amazing! This is the place where you go if you're looking for the harder-to-find bottles. They have a good mix of limited edition Montana beers along with harder to find domestic beers and an excellent variety of Belgian / German / Polish beers. Highly recommend if you're a beer snob or enjoy more interesting brews!

Chris B.

Yelp
Beer is good but I don't think what they sell you as "a pint" is 16 oz. I could be wrong but I e drunk a lot of pints and this seems light......
