My girlfriend recommended this spot a long time ago telling me I gotta try their food but I never got a chance. She said it's a gem, a little hole in the wall but you gotta catch it because the hours are changing so I came one time but it looked like a bar, it definitely didn't look like a place to eat so I never went back. I was surprised now they actually serve breakfast lunch and dinner and this time I opened the door it has one side a restaurant and the other side a bar which I was shocked. The atmosphere was cozy and the table setting was nice. We were told by the owner (very friendly) that there have been changes made and that they actually started serving Breakfast. We came as soon as they opened at 9am. We normally don't like ordering Steak and Eggs for breakfast because for some reason every restaurant we have breakfast their NY steak never comes out good it always ends up dry. Normally when we try a new restaurant we would order Steak and Eggs for the first time and always end up being disappointed however, I can tell you these guys medium well Steak was so tender and juicy and well seasoned that I didn't have to add steak sauce. My husband's medium Steak was the same. We also ordered two hot pancakes and it was fluffy and tasted pretty good. Our server Veronica was great (sweet and friendly) and very attentive and always kept checking up on us if we needed anything which we like and appreciate.

Very friendly service. Ordered medium rare lamb chops that were more medium. Otherwise good. I was not a fan of the mash potatoes. The vegetables are the similar frozen variety steamed up. We came on a Tuesday and the special was liver and onion which was prepared as a slab and pretty good. The spumoni is still good. I would not get the bread pudding again since it was a bit dry even with the ice cream. Cocktails are more like a dive bar, strong but not exact

We used to live on the peninsula and would go to the garden club at least once a month sometimes twice. We moved to the Napa valley a little over a year ago and have been wanting to go back ever since. This past Sunday, we had an occasion to go to on the peninsula so on the way home we were looking forward to going there for dinner. We used to love all their food, especially the minestrone soup and the large mixed green salad with the great vinaigrette dressing, and I would always get a side order of raviolis, then the prime rib for my main entrée. Well, we were seated at a booth as you first walk in, and I immediately noticed bright spot lights shining down that was very irritating. That was okay since we were looking forward to the wonderful food that we both remembered. Then the soup came family style as usual. My wife and I both stared at it and said what the heck is that? It was absolutely nothing like the delicious soup they used to serve. We both took one spoonful and pushed it aside, it was disgusting. Then the salad came and my wife and I both once again surprisingly looked at it and didn’t even try it. It consisted of all black horrible leafy greens. No longer the wonderful mixed green salad we remembered. Then my side order of raviolis came. They used to serve five large delicious raviolis for $8 as a side dish. The new price is $13, and I was served only three. That’s $4.33 each! And to top it off, they were once again absolutely nothing like they used to be. They were doughy and hardly filled. I gave the Garden Club two stars instead of one, only because the prime rib was excellent and cooked perfectly medium rare. However, the vegetables were cold and could hardly bite into them. I had also ordered a side order of french fries, that were an extra charge, and when tasting them, only ate a couple since they weren’t very good. If I was able to go there and just order the prime rib on a dish all by itself, I would possibly return. That was the only item on my entire dinner that I enjoyed. Of course, they also raised their prices, but I totally understand that since food cost has risen lately. I so miss the food that the Garden Club used to serve. They must’ve changed ownership and or management, since nothing was like it used to be. Sadly, we will not return.

Man, it's tough to find a place that really knows how to do prime rib right! But let me tell ya, this spot nails it. Had a great experience – they cooked it exactly the way I wanted it! Couldn't ask for anything more, it was just plain yum. It's got that comfy, family-friendly vibe, but they've also got a bar connected if you're lookin' for that. It's kinda like goin' to your grandma's house... if your grandma was a top-notch cook

Nice little local south San Francisco bar/eatery. We came here on a Friday night with 10 people and they accommodated us we'll (I called in for reservations but did not need to since it was pretty empty) The appetizers were a bit overpriced for what they were but still tasty. For the main course I got the rack of lamb which was cooked pretty well and came with a side of fries and vegetables. The fries were one of the best things here. Overall decent for a local spot but most of the items were over priced for what was offered. Still a nice place for a quiet dinner. Outdoor seating is available.

This is an older restaurant, but has had the furnishings recently updated. Mostly comfort food on the menu, to the right when you walk in. Kathy was our server and she did a great job. Our food was delicious and was served piping hot. Don't judge a book by its cover, you will enjoy eating here.

Updated review: Garden Club has changed a few things this year. I noticed the dining room is much darker because they changed the light fixtures. The bar stools at the bar are back. The social distancing table arrangements are gone and the old table arrangements are back with more seating for guests. The outdoor parklet was closed when I was there at 10am. Indoor dining only. Garden Club has not been traditionally known for their breakfast/brunch menu. This is my third time having brunch here. Their breakfast burger was delicious. It was just a regular bacon cheeseburger with an egg added. I liked how they used romaine lettuce instead of the iceberg lettuce. Service was excellent. Original review: Indoor lunch today 3/19/2021. At noon, the outdoor dining tent was full and the indoor dining hall had two other parties. The bar stools were removed and you can no longer eat at the bar because of COVID. We had the lunch 14oz prime rib $22, New York steak with garlic and butter $20, garlic fries $6 with a Stella Artois beer $6 (not served in a traditional Stella chalice but rather a regular pint glass.) The new waiter was kind of a rookie even though he was an older gentlemen. I had ordered a Guinness beer when he took our order. The salad and soup came and my beer haven't arrived. When I asked him about it, he told me they didn't have Guinness. Wouldn't it be a common courtesy to let the customer know when he found out they didn't have it, to let me know then? Instead, I was sitting there thirsty for 15 mins. Regardless, I settled for a Stella instead. Weird that a bar wouldn't have Guinness beer. When my entree arrived, it was wrong entree. I didn't order a lamb shank. Then I had to wait some more for them to remake my food. The New York steak with garlic and butter was good. It was better than the rare prime rib I got. I ordered medium but didn't want to waste more time for them to remake it... AGAIN. The garlic fries were meh. It was missing that garlic burn you get from the ballpark garlic fries. Pro tip for the rookie waiter: use a pen to write down orders if your memory is failing you, especially at a new job. I really miss the old bartender lady that used to work there during lunch time. I would sit at the bar and she would remembers what I ordered from like two weeks ago. Both food and drinks. She was such a sweetheart. My bill for lunch today was $70 with tax and tip for two people.

The food was delicious! The portions were generous, however the waitress was rude! I guess she wanted to go home and she was not friendly at all until she brought the check. Would go again for the food.

Yelp
Garden Club is definitely one of those tucked away gems in Sunshine Gardens. We came here for breakfast finally after having dinner here few times and it was really good. The staff is so friendly. It's definitely one of those places you can come for just a drink with some friends, a little date for breakfast, lunch or dinner or even has room for a group size party. There's two areas, one is the bar with a few tables and the other side is more of a dinning area separate from the bar. Our kids had pancakes and French toast and loved it! The pancakes were huge, fluffy and delicious! The hash-browns, country potatoes and eggs were good. We will definitely be back for a close to home breakfast or lunch.

Yelp
I used to love their Sunday night prime rib special when one could get prime rib with soup, salad, potatoes, veggies, ravioli and dessert for under $30. Sadly Garden Club changed owners a few years ago and it hasn't been the same since. A couple of friends invited us to dine there recently and we were excited about giving this place another try. The prime rib is now close to $50, only comes with soup, salad, mashed potatoes (up charge for fries) and veggies. The menu is also very limited with less entrees than before. The interior is still very divey and no frills. Overall, the prime rib was flavorful but extremely chewy and fell short of my expectations. The veggies also had a weird, herby flavor to them. Dessert (ice-cream) is complimentary if you're celebrating a milestone. I hear GC is great for happy hour so will need to come back to try that sometime.

Yelp
Prime Rib dinner is our all time favorite !!! And our meal yesterday was marvelous!!! Served by our very attentive accommodating host. We've been coming here on special occasions for many years, always delighted with great service ,and the mouth watering prime rib consistently roasted to perfection! A carnivore delight served with au jus to die for Neuropathy pain makes it difficult to make trek from foster city to garden club with frequency we used to but celebrating my 75th birthday early.. it's not till the 31st . A meal that is soo consistently good ...marvelous sure takes pains away Fine dining with stellar service !!!!

Yelp
Came back for dinner recently because I had been telling my girlfriend about this spot and the 4 course dinner, so after a round of golf we made it happen. We came right at dinner time, and had no problem grabbing a table. I knew I had to go for the prime rib because that's what I loved in the past. However this time it was a bit of a letdown. Not much flavor and really chewy. I finished it because I didn't want to waste any food but it just wasn't as good as I remembered. The minestrone and salad were still solid though. My girlfriend got the chicken parm and the batter came right off the chicken and the think chicken was a bit dry. Not sure if I'd get this again. I've loved garden club forever but this last time was a bit of a letdown. They've always been good so maybe this day was just an off day. Definitely will be back since it's a spot I've grown up with over the years.

Yelp
Been meaning to try this local neighborhood staple and I'm glad I did! This is a great spot for some comforting and delicious homestyle food. My husband and I weren't feeling super hungry so we shared the beef sliders appetizer (the buns were perfectly toasted and buttery, and the meat was so juicy!) and the linguini and meatballs. I actually never order pasta at a restaurant but I was craving it tonight, and it didn't disappoint! Like most pasta these days, it was on the pricier side for what you get but it was a very generous portion. If I'd ordered this entree for just myself, I definitely would've had a lot leftover. It was filling, flavorful, and topped generously with Parmesan, parsley, and oregano. Plus, the side of minestrone soup was delicious and very hearty. One thing I realized after my meal was the menu states that entrees are served with soup, salad, vegetables AND potatoes but we only received the soup and salad. Maybe you only get either soup and salad, or vegetables and potatoes but the menu clearly notes "and" so it's a bit misleading. I also ordered the lavender lemonade mimosa, which was really refreshing, though I wish that there was more than just a hint of a lavender taste. We wrapped up our meal with the bread pudding dessert which was decent! Aside from the delicious food, the restaurant was clean and the service was extremely friendly and attentive. I really loved the vibes and decor of the place: since the main restaurant is partitioned from the bar area, you can still hear the bar music which added nicely to the overall classic, vintage-inspired decor. I'll definitely be back again to try their other popular items like the Prime Rib!

Yelp
The service was amazing. Our waitress was so sweet and kind! She took care of us and made us feel like family. She made the entire restaurant have a cozy warm family vibe that just made it feel like we were at a family party. The calamari was crunchy and delicious. And filling as an appetizer. I absolutely loved my BLT! They give a good amount of bacon and the garlic fries were just *chefs kiss. I'd eat those garlic fries any day.

Yelp
Went here for Father's Day dinner. Location a little sketchy but there are plenty of parking spaces. It was empty when we got there and made us think if we should have gone to a different place. But...it slowly picked up and an hour later, the place was packed. Customer service was great. Our server was accommodating (moved us to a bigger table) bec the booths were too small for a party of 4. Water glass was constantly filled with water. Had the steak and chicken parmigiana (sorry no pics), and it was surprisingly yummy. Steak was spot on! Side veggie however needs to be worked on (steamed carrots/bean/zucchini). It looked like it came from a frozen bag :( Cocktails were ok. Order the lavender lemonade mimosa! You won't regret it. Would we come back again? Prob not. It has a bar area and customers there were loud. You can hear them from the restaurant side so yah, don't bring the kids.

Yelp
It's been a few years since we've been at GC. They have remodeled the interior on the restaurant side. The prices have gone up and the food is not as good as before. Serving size (family style soup, salad, bread) has shrunk to 1 serving per diner. No raviolis, shrimp Louis salad, or dessert as a part of the prefix dinner. Service was a little hit and miss. Asked for more soup and they bussed our soup bowls!?! Asked for bread 3 times and then had to ask for butter. For the price and better food quality I would go to Westlake Joe's.

Yelp
It's been a while since we dined here. The last time, we dined in their outdoor patio. Today, we dined inside. The restaurant is certainly not fancy and older, but the service was super friendly. The menu is quite large and most importantly, we had a great meal here, always! We had calamari as appetizer for the table. It ca.e with marinara sauce and also some kind of tartar sauce for dipping. The sourdough (complimentary) was also of good quality, they are fresh, crunch on the outside and fluffy inside. Delicious! For entrees, we ordered the calamari steak plate, prime rib sandwich dip!, prime rib plate and rack of lamb plate. Most of us opted for soup (minestrone), it came in a big bowl, certainly enough to feed everyone at the table. The minestrone soup was very delicious! Even my picky toddler had 1.5 bowl! Yes, even though there was not meat and it was just veggies, beans and pasta! It was delicious and homey! The entered plates came with generous portion of protein, potatoes and veggies. The veggies are pretty basic, just steam of mixture of carrots, sweet peas, cauliflower and zucchini. But the calamari steak, prime rib, prime rib sandwich dip, and the rack of lamb (ooh la laaa!!) All were soooooo good! It was certainly one of tbe best rack of lamb I've had, and again, even my picky toddler kept asking for more of my lamb! We will certainly come back here again! Delicious food and reasonable price (big portion!).

Yelp
I wanted to check this restaurant out for their prime rib dinner and everyone had a good time. Portions were good sized and food came quickly after ordering. The side soup and salad was family style, so everyone had some. Reservations were easy to make on Yelp and last minute updates were easily accommodated when we arrived. Two kids and 6 adults for around $360 with drinks, not too bad. If it was a guys night out we probably would have spent more! I will be back to try their lamb shank dinner, it looked great as well.

Yelp
The Garden Club is a SSF classic. It's got the old school vibes and good food. They recently changed the menu to no longer include the minestrone soup and salad with the all the pasta dinners. The minestrone soup and salad with the pasta dinner was one of the main reasons my family enjoyed going to the Garden Club. When charging $28 for a plate of pasta, I think that the Garden Club could include soup and salad with the meal, at minimal or no additional cost. Instead, we got charged $4 for a bowl of soup and some unknown amount for a small salad. While the food is good, I don't think we will be returning due to the shrinkflation that's occurring on the menu. When I walk out with a bill over $100 for 2 adults and a child (with no cocktails), it's chintzy and a slap in the face to get charged for soup and salad when a pasta dinner costs $28. Our server was pleasant, attentive and apologetic for the menu changes. Unfortunately, she no longer has 3 customers.

Yelp
Sauce was marinara sauce with herbs. Both tripe and pigs feet were very tender. Polenta good texture and taste. Great table service. Salad fresh. And house made minestrone always consistent in flavor. We got there at 11AM, and the locals came in shortly after filling half the restaurant. The first Monday of the month special has always run out by the times I've called in for dinner take-out. Am a longtime customer and I finally got to taste this special order!

Yelp
Homey feel, not fancy but good food. Great service- don't know what to pick? Chat with your server. Connected to bar (next door) you can hear TVs / music esp if it's a game day. We are here for the PRIME RIB dinner $50. Well cooked, real mashed potatoes (not a mix) delicious minestrone soup (house made), lovely side salad. Fresh French bread /butter. So it's not romantic ... but the meal is great. French dip sandwich is great - comes with fries. So happy my hubby shared tastes of soup and salad, I appreciated that and didn't want so much food as on the full dinner. Located In the Salvation Army parking lot, lots of parking in this small shopping area. Congested but not impossible!

Yelp
Cool place cool decor & good service--but i do have a few suggestions--the prim Rib is tough. Very hard to cut bites & chew. Salad dressing comes in a plastic container--ultra tacky. Also the house dressing wants to be Italian but it just doesn't taste good. I hated the frozen vegetables that comes with it. Still it's family-owned and it is very cool. So support the Garden Club. At $45.95 the prime Rib should not be so tough & full of gristle aka unrended fat. It is just too expensive for what it is. I suggest a staff field trip to House of Prime Rib. They serve baked potatoes & there's no plastic containers. Same price, better cut of meat.

Yelp
Ambiance is very nice. The service is good, the waiter seems knows a lot about there menu. The food is kinda mid. Pasta

Yelp
We went to this restaurant on Thanksgiving. Reservations were easy to make and although the house was full, service was great. It felt very cozy! I thought we would be able to order from their regular menu but this evening they had three set dinners to choose from - Turkey dinner, Prime rib, or salmon. This included house salad, minestrone soup, and sourdough bread/butter. Turkey dinner included pumpkin pie. The cost was $45 per person. We were a table of six and we ordered three cocktails, 2 cups of coffee, and two sodas and 5 ice cream scoops. We spent $400 dollars. Minestrone Soup 10/10 House salad 10/10 Turkey dinner 0/10 (tasted like cafeteria or hospital food) Pumpkin pie 10/10 Vanilla ice cream 5/10 Dirty Martini with Kettle 10/10 Wait staff was very friendly, efficient and fast, Establishment has a nostalgic feel, more like a moms/pops type restaurant. Would I go back? Probably not. I was really disappointed on my dinner. Thanksgiving you look forward to eating good food and look forward to next days left overs. We didn't even finish our food. We did pack our dinners to go and tried to eat it the next day, but it just was not good. Maybe the Prime rib or salmon would have been better? I don't know. I just say, stay away from the turkey dinner. Would I be back again? Probably not.

Yelp
This is a spot I've been coming to for almost 10 years but haven't dined here in almost a year. It's old school through & through with the exception of the modern day jukebox. Food is good however when I got the bill I felt like I was pumping gas at a service station because I had the choice of cash or credit (see picture). I used my credit card and was charged about $5 more ! Whoever started this ridiculous charge should also make exceptions if the bill is over a certain amount ! Wise up because this will make some people think twice before patronizing your establishment...ahem this is the reason why I didn't give this restaurant a 5 star rating

Yelp
Had lunch with my mom. I was looking a lunch spot in South City and I was told by a coworker of mine that I should go to The Garden Club. It's an old school restaurant and bar. Our waitress was friendly and took our order. I had the prime rib, my mom got the Thursday Osso Bucco special. I got a very standard side salad with Italian dressing. It was fine, and fresh with a ton of beans on top. My mom got the minestrone soup, which she really enjoyed. My prime rib was nice and large and medium rare, with au jus and horseradish. It was very tasty. My mom also really enjoyed her Osso Bucco. It was fall-off the bone tender. Both plates came with mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables. It was a no frills, solid meal. It is food that isn't served as much anymore in a setting from a time gone by. Let's keep it alive. I feel The Garden Club deserves to thrive many more years!

Yelp
Hard to find good prime rib - where they really do it right! Great experience- got it the way I wanted! What more could I ask for? Yum. A family place with a bar connected. Like going to grandmas ...IF grandma made tasty food.

Yelp
Food was good. Probably the highlight of the meal. The ambience was okay. The inside could use a refurbishment.

Yelp
We have been coming to this restaurant on and off throughout the years. When you come here, make sure you have an empty tummy. Usually when ordering dinner, soup and salad comes with it. We ordered: Osso Bucco (Thursday special) and Petrale. Osso Bucco was very tender. Wished the sauce was a little bit thicker. And Petrale was tender. Yummy. We have also tried their Prime Rib and Salmon. Would definitely come back again.

Yelp
It was our first time here. Upon entering, the place had a homey/old school vibe. The music was rockin'! Server was super friendly with a great smile. The bread and butter were served right away! Their soup and salad were served a la carte and definitely had a homemade taste. Our prime rib was a very nice serving, however our rack of lamb seemed small for the price we paid. But my son gobbled it all up and said it was "TASTY"! Our bellies left satisfied and would like to come back for the burgers and Thursday Special-Osso Bucco!! Cheers!

Yelp
This is older established restaurant that has went through some various upgrades, like the bathroom remodels and menu items that are changed. The host and servers were efficient but , in my mind hovering a bite too much for a family type restaurant, I rather like the european approach where you get everything ordered and never see the server again. We were there to celebrate a friend's birthday so all that hovering was not needed, but then again american diner's expect all that groveling. I mostly forgot to take pictures because I was more focused on celebrating my friends birthday, sorry. We started with their house homemade minestrone soup, this was certainly not progresso, it was as good as ever. The next course was a house salad with a simple house vinaigrette dressing, I totally forget to get pictures of that and we even asked for seconds. It was simply that delicious! I had the prime rib for my main, I asked for medium rare and it was more on the medium to medium well side, it was okay but not the worst prime rib I've had but certainly nowhere's comparable to what I could cook. The items that were omitted due to cost cutting was the customary house red and the dessert they served in years past. Too bad that cost cutting changes were made and my guess is the newer diners probably don't miss, the food was still good but cost cutting items were changed like mashed potatoes and frozen vegetables were substituted instead of sliced potatoes and fresh zucchini. The interior dining area has not changed, there were the same booths and tables that could easily be moved together to accommodate larger family gatherings. A very comfortable setting for family dining. It's just too bad deletions had to be made on such a established older restaurant. I will still come back but much less sparingly.

M. G.

Yelp
I am giving this 4 stars because - it's an neighborhood institution that's been there for 60 years in a long forgotten strip mall - Service was the really good. Won us over when 2 out of 5 of our guests had meals (the rest had burgers). They brought out the soup and salad family style and brought us all bowls and salad plates. - the food was meh at best. I would bet they a few specialties, but it wasn't the steak sandwich (too fatty) or the chicken parm (wasn't breaded and quite salty)

Yelp
Good service cool atmosphere comfy booths their shoestring fries are hands down the best the minestrone soup is simply awesome and the salad is flavorful plus the portions are huge my prime rib was too rare for me so I took it home to roast later

Yelp
First time here and so glad I did. Always wanted to try it every time I passed by and finally got the chance. Always heard SSF locals rave about this place and now I know what they are talking about. Parking is in a private lot. Service was great and the food was great. Our server was very friendly and polite. The vibe is old school but I didn't mind at all. There were a lot of friendly locals there. The music was great. Now on to the food. They have specials during the week and you definitely get your money's worth. The portions are huge. If you like calamari, I recommend the calamari steak. The ribs were great, especially for the portion size at the great price.
google avatar

John Z.

Yelp
I think i need to reconsider this review later on in the future... after years of seeing the commercial and living in SSF, I feel like it's an initiation rite to at least eat there... so one day, I brought my whole family there.. our standards weren't too high, but it just fell a bit flat for me.. I got the pigs feet and trip... to be honest, I never order it, but it wasn't my thing... i already forgot what my family ordered... maybe one day, I will try it again... i may need to order something more traditional.. I just feel bad because I've heard so many good reviews from contacts... So I guess I will come back one day... maybe starting off at the bar might make a difference.

Yelp
Wonderful atmosphere, great service. Our server Audrey was so kind and very friendly. We went for my husband's birthday with our adult children and one had a 9 month old, and she was very helpful when he was crying, telling us not to worry. The food was how I remembered. Old school and very tasty. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
I have been coming here for years. It's been my go to spot for reasonable prices for family style meals such as prime rib or other specialty dishes. I continued coming here even after the ownership change. Despite the fact that they changed some of the well known loved options such as seafood salad, stuffed chicken and add on's on certain days including ice cream, or tapioca for desert (not anymore) I came here yesterday and the food was just not on point. Some of the issues are listed *minestrone soup over cooked and noodles were mushy *NY steak was dry and flavorless *frozen vegetables - not a good choice with your side for a steak entree *no ice cream anymore as part of the family style meal *very slow service and restaurant not that crowded. Before this place would be packed on a Friday and now not at all. *charged extra for paying by debit/credit card Just overall very disappointed and prices have increased so that also didn't help things. I don't mind paying if the food is worth it and overall good tasting and flavorful. Sadly, I will not come back to dine here anymore :(

Yelp
Kathy is simply the best. We have been coming here for years. It's a great old school spot with a great watering hole. This time we came with a group of 15 for an after memorial lunch meal. Restaurant is accommodating and friendly. Food was on spot for the homey feeling it gives you. Some dishes a bit salty but over all presentation and amount of food is good. Service was impeccable as Kathy kept checking on us. Dinner is good too. As long as this place is around, we will come back and frequent.

Yelp
Went here with my family and the service was amazing! Our waitress was so sweet and was super attentive to us; bringing us more water and bread whenever she saw we were running out. I got the prime rib and it was delicious as the texture was perfectly juicy and red. I asked for it to be rare and it came out perfect. My boyfriend got a cheeseburger and he said it's the best he's ever had! The soup and salad here is served family style which I really liked as this place had a home-y, warm welcome to it. I would come again!

Yelp
It's been decades since I've been here. The place was packed at 6:30 pm. Come here with a big appetite. The place hasn't been updated over the years and it was dark and tight. They serve family style dinners. Their soup and salad used to come in gigantic bowls and there were plenty of leftovers that they took away. Back then I don't think you were allowed to pack these leftovers. In the past I saw videos of people bringing their own containers to pack their soup, salad, and bread! Anyway, last night, we got a fairly good amount of soup and salad which was sufficient. Minestrone, still tasty. We ordered the New York Steak with mash potatoes and veggies, Chicken Piccata and Baked Salmon. All delicious and generous servings. I couldn't finish my meal and packed it to go. Service was terribly slow but accompanied with apologies. There were only 2 waitresses, one was so pleasant and friendly, makes you forget about the slow service but the other, not so. Had to get up to get my own box to go. They charge you an extra 4% if you use a credit or debit card. It's a good thing I saw it on Yelp so I brought cash. Yes, I would return here but only when I'm super hungry and craving for some good steak and minestrone!

Yelp
We tried this place with another couple. We were not expecting this place to be super fancy or anything, but upon arriving, we were all a little bit disappointed on how worn out this place looks. However, we were excited to try their prime rib. The prime rib was fine; my husband and I shared our prime rib - medium. I should have ordered it rare though. Our friends ordered theirs medium well. (More on that later..) Our drinks (Ramos Fizz and Cosmo) both tasted super sugary. I refuse to drink it and my friend helped me drink it all. We had two waitresses it seemed. One younger one was nice, the older one seemed like she was so done with everyone. When the prime rib arrived at our table, my friend's husband was questioning her about his prime rib (he wanted it medium well but it looked more like well done) and she basically just slammed it down (not super hard, but enough) and told him that was how it was. Basically saying he ordered it like that, take it and eat it. Lol. I don't think any of us will be back.

Yelp
The food here is always great. Try the rack of lamb, the burger or the pasta they are all great. Cathy is an amazing server. She's attentive and fun. Julie in the bar really knows how to tend to her customers. Great atmosphere, don't sit under the speakers if you can still hear. As a single old broad I feel safe here.

Yelp
IMHO I love dining here! We came last night to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Our party of five ordered Osso Bucco (Thursday special), two prime rib dinners, petrale sole and filet of sole. At 6:15, they had but one osso buco entree left to offer. If you want the special, arrive early! Since they changed ownership, they no longer serve ravioli and dessert with your entree. This is one thing we miss. It seems weird not to have them. Nonetheless, we all enjoyed our meal here. We still get a lot of bang for our buck with minestrone soup, salad, sourdough bread, and your entree! We would've liked to order dessert, but our check came, and we just took care of it and left. Service was friendly and genuine, as always.

Yelp
The food was OK nothing spectacular. I had a glass of champagne that was flat and they brought me another one that said it was a new bottle open and it was not the service was awful. Awful probably wouldn't come back.

Yelp
I love coming in to the Garden Club, my family has been coming in here for the past 20+ years and we always leave with a full happy belly. The service is always quick and the team is always friendly and attentive. I love supporting my local communities through small restaurants and the Garden Club is a one of my favorites.

Yelp
For what it is, I give them 4.5 stars. We knew before entering, that it was going to be an old institution, kind of like a diner feel and that's what you get. A comfy old school spot. It has booths that are well maintained and regulars sitting at the bar. The service was friendly and efficient. After ordering, we were brought a big bowl of Minestrone Soup to share and followed by a salad. Both were yummy. The soup had a good amount of vegetables and they were fresh. Even my son liked the soup. My family recommended this place for many years for their Prime Rib so that's what I ordered, medium rare. It was yummy with a side of mashed potatoes and veggies that reminded me of grade school cafeteria lunches. The server said that we could order a kids portion of the Spaghetti with Meatballs but when it arrived there were no meatballs on the plate. She had to go get them for us. My husband had the Chicken Parm which was also served with mashed potatoes and veggies. He said the Chicken Parm was good but not great. At the same time, he was happy with it given what we expected. It's really a kind of place you would take your old parents for a casual dinner. They had quite an extensive cocktail menu. We will be back when we want a casual, old school, dining night.

Yelp
Warm sourdough and butter to start. Also ordered their delicious minestrone soup, always hits the spot - perfect and loaded with veggies as usual (now served in a smaller bowl that serves 2) must get even though a bit disappointed that there's less soup than the huge bowl they used to serve. French dip with garlic fries was perfect. Usually I'd get prime rib with mashed potatoes and veggies but this time opted for the prime rib sandwich plus I was craving garlic fries. Service was nice, asked for water refill. Old school feel and decor; really enjoyed it. Never felt rushed. Cash discount. My friend loved her grilled chicken sandwich and garlic fries. We both had leftovers. About $60 cash for our meal plus tip! Easy parking in the shared lot, sometimes crowded but you'll still be able to find a spot.

Yelp
Father's Day lunch was a big hit! Generous portion of prime rib perfectly cooked with real mashed potatoes! Wifey ordered the fillet of sole that was perfectly cooked! Service was excellent from the pretty lady. I asked her if she took care of her daddy and she replied that she's working with her dad who is tending the bar. Good food with excellent service! Even the bread was outstanding!
