This delightful hotel is perfectly located just one block from the excitement of Duval Street, offering a peaceful retreat with a beautifully landscaped garden and a private walkway with all kinds of sudden. The staff were friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home. Our room was cozy and featured a private balcony overlooking the bar and pool area—a perfect spot to unwind. Whether you're looking to relax poolside or enjoy easy access to everything Key West has to offer, this hotel is an ideal choice. While parking is very limited, a car isn’t necessary thanks to the prime location. I would absolutely stay here again.

We had the loveliest "Staycation" for our anniversary at The Gardens Hotel. Rhoda checked us in and was informative, warm and welcoming. The ground are beyond gorgeous and the pool area is so relaxing. Phillip our bartender was full of stories that made us laugh. The drinks, the shade, the pool temp, the towels were absolutely perfect. We stayed in the Eyebrow Cottage and loved every minute. And not to mention, off street parking which is unheard of in Key West. We loved wandering around Old Town, popping out for dinner and then coming back for a night swim, this was the relaxing moment we were hoping for and absolutely got. Thank you to the team, birds, turtles and the cocktails, we will be back sooner than later.

We just returned from our 26th stay at The Gardens Hotel. The Gardens is not rated #1 for no reason. They deserve every accolade & more. The reason we return to Key West every yr is The Gardens Hotel. . From the moment you walk in the door you are greeted like family with a glass of Prosecco after a long early morning flight by a friendly helpful concierge & sometimes Lucy the hotel cat . The beautiful gardens, meandering paths, orchids & fountains have been kept & maintained by the owner Kate as to what Peggy Mills envisioned the Gardens to be. |A delicious Breakfast is served daily by the pool. Different choices offered each day. |Location, Location, Location -Busy Duval Street is just around the corner. |There is live Jazz Music every Sunday nite to enjoy.|In the center of this Paradise is the relaxing pool surrounded by flowers & palms. You will not want to leave. Grab a book & a cold margarita from the pool bar & forget your troubles. The drinks are superb.|The rooms are decorated in European style but still Key West. Love the individual porches to sit out on at nite under the ceiling fan. |Thanks to Queen Kate the lovely owner & all the gang that makes each trip as good as the last.|Jim the mgr,, Nancy, Rhoda, Ray, George, Phillip & many others. |Exceptional hotels are not just the hotel itself but also the people that make it all so enjoyable The Gardens Hotel is simply as good as it gets.|Already planning the next trip

I went in with very high expectations based on TripAdvisor reviews and I was not disappointed! This place is just fabulous. Beautiful grounds, quaint rooms and all the “little touches” they provide made for a wonderful stay. Comfortable bed, delicious complimentary breakfast, daily pool towels placed in room, easy check in/out and the location is wonderful, so close to so many great restaurants. Like everyone says it feels like an oasis, so close but yet so far from Duval. Highly recommend and will definitely be back!

Stayed at The Gardens for a long weekend to celebrate my birthday in June 2025 and we LOVED it. It's a beautiful, intimate hotel with gorgeous rooms and even more beautiful space. The Gardens is very close to Duval and the hustle of the northern part of Key West while also being quiet and peaceful. It really feels like you're in a little secret garden, hidden away from the rest of the hustle and bustle. Loved seeing the turtles, birds, fish, and tons of beautiful plants. The pool was amazing, surrounded by gorgeous trees and never very busy because it isn't a huge hotel. They also have a bartender working all day who was very attentive and helpful. Plus, the self service wine bar was such a blast. Really fun way to try a bunch of different wines before committing to an entire glass. The service was really personal and amazing. They checked us in early when we arrived, spent time walking us through great options for restaurants around the neighborhood, and even gave us a complimentary bottle of wine for my birthday. I think our favorite part of the hotel was the breakfast. It's totally complimentary which we didn't realize and was AMAZING. The pancakes we had one day were one of the best things we ate the entire time we were there. Ultimately, we LOVED our experience here. However, I do have a 2 notes about staying here that I personally did not really think took away from the trip but would have liked to know: - Sound carries between rooms. It's not crazy, especially since you share walls with very few other rooms. But finding this out at 3am was not ideal. Because this isn't a party hotel, it really wasn't a big deal at all. - It seems like smoking is allowed around the pool. It wasn't a huge deal but multiple times men were smoking cigars around the pool. Just not ideal.

Could not have asked for a better place to stay! The Inn itself is gorgeous with beautiful antiques...the decor and ambiance is top notch. It's very classy but also laid back ....kind of gave me a slight European vibe. The pool and the gardens are just amazing! Having coffee on our balcony every morning was so relaxing. Our room and the hotel had everything we needed and more, alot of thought went into every detail and it shows. The staff is exceptional and went out of their way to make the atmosphere so lovely...Phil (Dr.Phil) at the bar is one of a kind and will make your stay that much more memorable! Ray at the front desk made us feel instantly welcome :) The live jazz or piano music every night with cocktails...Lucy the resident cat....all of the flowers and plants everywhere...We cannot wait to get back!

Our family had a 10/10 stay. The poolside cottage was spacious, clean, beautifully designed, and just steps from the pool. It was the perfect private (and pet-friendly!) getaway. The free breakfast was a great bonus, and the staff was warm and welcoming—can’t wait to return!

We stayed here for a week in July and had a truly memorable experience. The room was perfect (spacious and with everything we needed) and the staff were so nice. In particular, Anette helped us with fabulous dining suggestions, allowing us to maximize our Key West experience. We will definitely return to this jewel.

Yelp
Paradise! Located one block from Duvall St in Key West. We stumbled across the hidden gem on a one nite stay. It's a Bed and Breakfast and it was our first time. I hope they are all like this! Surrounded by a lush garden this hotel has options which include a larger building as well as other units that had four private suites with a large shared porch with ceiling fans. Walking into our room was like stepping into a vacation brochure! A spacious rooom with any amenity you'd need. The bathroom was beautiful! We also had our own private back porch. The ground included a turtle den, a large caged bird area as well as statues and a gorgeous kidney shaped pool. A glass of complimentary Prosecco was included and they also provided all the pool essentials you'd need. They serve nice breakfast also pictured which changes. So close to bars and stores galore. We will be back for the friendly excellent service!

Yelp
The Gardens Hotel is quite the opposite of sterile and corporate. Truly a magical place, they offer gracious service and comfortable lodging on beautiful grounds dressed up with Asian-inspired art, a koi pond and a tortoise sanctuary. A block off rowdy Duval Street, the place felt like a quiet sanctuary to return to after a day of sightseeing and imbibing. Centrally located in Old Town, we could walk just about anywhere. The Gardens Hotel offer various kinds of accommodations ranging from guest rooms in the main house to larger cottages. Our courtyard room was spacious, quiet, immaculate and beautifully decorated with a shared outside porch. It was too cool to swim when we were there, but the heated pool looked very inviting. The daily rate includes a hearty breakfast including eggs, meat, toast, biscuits, yogurt, juice and fresh coffee. They even hold free weekly Sunday jazz concerts, well attended by the local community as well as hotel guests. We saw Debra and Patrick Lawler who were sensational musicians. The affable hotel owner Miss Kate was frequently on the property greeting guests, along with her adorable dog "Tiny". Nancy and Rhoda in the front office were genuinely friendly and helpful as well. Absolutely loved my experience at The Gardens Hotel and plan to return my next visit to Key West.

Yelp
The Gardens Hotel 526 Angela St., Key West, FL 33040 5 Stars This is the first entry in the Big Boy's review of boutique and Michelin-rated hotels. I start my worldwide journey in Key West. Upon entering The Garden House Hotel, the first thing one notices is that it is a first-class operation. This once-private residence is in the historic Old Town district of Key West. As such, it is footsteps away from Duval St., Mallory Square, and the Historic Seaport. Equipped with full and delightful concierge services, they are happy to help you plan any and all activities while visiting the area. Just a side note, their service is included in your stay, so no need to fear if you are not a member of the plutocracy, you can still enjoy their services and have a wonderful time. All the guests hang out by the pool and bar, mingling in a friendly, open atmosphere. This is truly a delight. They have won many awards and I can see why. From Rhoda and Ray at the front desk to Lucas at the bar, the staff is outstanding in every way. Tucked away on Angela St., this deceivingly large estate is sprawling with its own botanical gardens, including local flora, fauna, and some turtles. The pool is sparkling clean and an inviting blue. The room? The room is large, gorgeous, welcoming, well-maintained, and surprisingly quiet. The Big Boy says, "For the first hotel review, this is top-notch and the bar has been set extremely high.

Yelp
Perfect getaway! Highly recommend staying at this lovely place. Staff is kind. Breakfast was delicious. Property is safe and clean. And the location is perfect. A block from Duval and it's in the heart of old town. I would definitely stay here again

Yelp
Is there a better hotel then this? I think not. They have everything. Great staff, great accommodations, great restaurant, great entertainment. Wow I was blown away by their garden that is so special. Turtles, fish, cat, and many relaxation spots. This is really a hidden gem. I don't think I've ever enjoyed a hotel as much as this one. I will be back here anytime I come back to Florida.

Yelp
The hotel property is beautifully decorated and the grounds as well. Once you are on the property you feel the surroundings outside disappear. The room is design and laid in a very inviting and comfortable way, and still elegant and stylish. The hotel pool and gardens are great, you can spend an afterword day there and relax. The hotel breakfast was amazing, flavorful and satisfying. I look forward to staying there again.

Yelp
Traveling to Key West for our anniversary was a last minute decision, but luckily we were able to get a room at the Gardens Hotel. The staff was super friendly, but the facilities were amazing. We felt like we were in an oasis of tropical splendor where the pool was kept at a perfect temperature, mellow music was piped around the grounds, and leaves were constantly falling to the ground. We felt pampered by the tasty breakfast every morning, enjoyed the electronic wine tasting bar, and took in the live music every afternoon. Our room was very comfortable, air conditioned and reasonably spacious. Slept like a rock the whole time. The only negative was that we were forced to change rooms on the next to the last day (we weren't informed ahead of time even though we booked directly). Still all in all a very pleasant stay.

Yelp
Beautiful Hotel! My wife and I stayed here for a birthday celebration and I had no idea how perfect the Gardens would be for our trip! Walking distance to Duval and several other "Touristy" things to do in Key West. The staff were amazing in every interaction and the grab n go breakfast was perfect! I will definitely stay here again when I come back! They have a very sweet resident kitty who greeted us in the morning on our balcony! I will definitely recommend The Gardens to family and friends staying in Key West!

Yelp
The Gardens Hotel is truly a magical place where you feel like you are escaping from all of the rest of what is around. My husband and I never want to stay anywhere else even after staying 33 times. We never get tired of the lush grounds, beautiful rooms, wonderful pool and of course the smiles of the staff that welcome us back time after time. The location is almost perfectly located in the middle of Old Town making it easy to walk almost anywhere in Key West, including wonderful restaurants nearby. The Gardens has live nightly music as well which enjoy listening to while having refreshing cocktail outside at the pool bar. I can go on and on about this special place. Once you arrive at the Gardens, it will become your own tropical escape.

Yelp
The garden area is beautiful and Sunday evenings at 5 pm in the winter months they have a jazz quartet playing. We sat at little tables and had drinks and bar nuts and enjoyed the delightful music. I think this will be one of my favorite memories of key west for years to come!

Yelp
What a great little hideaway! We enjoyed our stay here. The property is so beautiful and well maintained. Beds were comfortable and the room was very spacious. Outdoor seating areas are everywhere if you just want to sit out and relax. The breakfast service was good with a nice variety over the course of the days we were there. The only issues we had were that our room was a little on the humid side (hey it's Florida...what do you expect) and we kept getting mosquitoes in the room and never did figure out where they came from. We also highly recommended the in room massage Pro tips- - this place is designed to spend some time. They have entertainment almost every night, a built in full bar, a self service wine bar and an awesome pool. We were constantly on the go. If we had it to do again we would have made more time to spend at the hotel - the shower: the center knob controls temp and the left pressure....it's not a system we had seen before and it took us a bit to figure out how to take a hot shower. The place really is wonderful and peaceful. Great stay!

Yelp
One-of-a-kind boutique hotel which is both close to the main drag Key West (Duval Street) and yet a quiet sanctuary with a maze-like garden to explore full of modern art, Buddha statues, and enormous clay cistern pots. Oh and there are tortoises and birds too! Live music 5-7p. Hang out at the pool bar with the owner, Kate!

Yelp
Simply put, The Gardens Hotel in Key West, FL is perfection for the sophisticated traveler. Old world luxury with modern amenities. The staff goes over and above to ensure an amazing stay. We've stayed here twice and have the best memories! Peaceful, restful but only a half if a block from Duval St & all the hustle and bustle it offers! This is our second stay at The Gardens Hotel and this time we brought friends. We recommend The Gardens Hotel to everyone we know coming to Key West. There's just no comparison, it's in a league of its own! Check out it's fascinating history and book your stay here: https://www.gardenshotel.com/history.htm

Yelp
The Gardens was spectacular. The host welcomes you with a Prosecco and a guided tour of the grounds. We had an amazing time and will return.

Yelp
Lovely private boutique hotel steps away from Duval Street. Every detail anticipated. Wonderful staff, totally accommodating. The only surprises were the pleasant ones - comfy king size bed, nice quiet garden, wine bar. Beautifully appointed rooms and main house. We'll be back!

Wonderful rooms and fabulous service!! Close to everything and the breakfast is super delish!!

Yelp
Ummm...yes! Do yourself a favor and stay at the Gardens. At the end of your life, when you're flashing back on many of the great memories you've accumulated, I'm confident the beauty of the Gardens Hotel in Key West will be one of them. I love this place.

Yelp
Fabulous hotel. We stayed in the Eyebrow Cottage. Beautiful room. Fridge had waters and there was a Keurig coffee machine. Checkin was great. Hotel staff was helpful and so nice. Amazing stay. Breakfast was great. The grounds were beautiful. Location superior! So glad we found this gem!

Yelp
If I could leave a 10 star review I would. This place is a dream. I want to thank Phil especially. He went above and beyond. Reminded me of my grandparents. Just felt at home. This place is a SANCTUARY! Highly recommend.

Yelp
I can't say enough about how special this place is. First of all, the staff is excellent, sweet, and incredibly pleasant. The grounds are AMAZING. There are koi ponds, hammocks, rescue turtles, and beautiful, lush gardens. One of my favorite parts was the wine bar! They have a number of bottles you can try which range in price from about $25 up to $250. Bob, the resident sommelier, has done a wonderful job procuring a fine selection which is preserved under argon gas for your tasting pleasure. You can pay a few dollars to try some amazing wines that would never be available for a taste or by the glass. We stayed in the carriage house which has a beautiful balcony overlooking the main pool. Oh, and speaking of which, the pool bar is FANTASTIC. Dr Phil will make you an excellent rum runner! You may even run into Kate there, and if you play your cards right, she will introduce you to Tiny who is the sweetest dog I have ever met! Don't forget that breakfast is included with your stay; delicious breads, fruits, key lime French toast and fresh squeezed oj. Every detail has been sought after again and again, you will tell. Don't forget to leave the kids behind like we did, they do not allow young children which is A OK by me. We cannot WAIT to return to this epic hotel. Please consider this hotel at the top of your list for your Key West stay!

Yelp
Where do I even begin! This place is beyond incredible! It's secluded and private yet you are just a block off of Duval and all the action. You can't ask for a better property! The room was fully equipped with everything you need, all toiletries, bath robs, pool towels, umbrellas for those random rainy days, pool bar, I could go on and on. Already planning our next stay! Love it here!!!

Yelp
One word, LOVELY! This place has lots of character and charm. Located one block from the center of Duval Street, this gem features spacious rooms, pleasantly accented, with a Key West flare. The grounds are well maintained and are beautiful to the eye. The property features a walk through garden with fountains, sculptures, a gazebo and a hammock. The staff was extremely friendly and greeted us with refreshing glass of sparkling wine. The price for our 2 night, including parking was $510. They feature a full outdoor bar by the pool, open from 2:00 - 8:00. The room stay also includes a wonderful full breakfast buffet. They also have a self service wine bar open until 10:00pm daily. This place is quiet and reserved. This is wonderful place to unwind and is just steps away from all the action of Duval Street. We would definitely come back the next time I plan a trip to Key West.

Yelp
This hotel is incredible. What a top notch place. I was hesitant to leave a review because I do not want it overcrowded! Came here during Covid and it was awesome. Great pool with a bar. The staff is 5 stars. The location literally couldn't be better. You're a 3 min bike ride from the beach and a 3 second walk from Duval! Best hotel in Key West, no doubt.
google avatar

Kortni K.

Yelp
Absolute favorite hotel in key west. This boutique hotel is a true gem. From the service to the beautiful landscape it is our new go to place to stay when we visit the keys. Jay the bartender is so friendly and makes the most delicious fruit smoothies! The pool is wonderful and the gardens are just stunning. I could go on and on about how fabulous this hotel is! 5 stars Gardens Hotel! Can't wait to come back and visit.

Yelp
ooo I loved. About a block off Duval, this little B&B was amazing. We were there for about 5 nights -- and although, right in season and pricey -- definitely worth it. The grounds are so peaceful - bird cages, koi ponds, a yoga area. There's an automatic wine dispenser (important) that I surprisingly didn't abuse while I was there. We landed one of the last available rooms - Historic #2 - with a wrap-around balcony and all of the amenities you'd expect. The crowd is ~older~ & I only say that because it's Key West and you also have to be atleast 25 to check-in. Though with that, comes privacy/peace/respect you'd want out of a relaxing holiday.

Yelp
In the words of Christopher Walken "wowey wow!!" This is the fourth time staying at the Gardens and they just keep getting better! We keep bringing friends with us as we know they will love it. Great product, service, and ambiance! Tropical oasis that is always clean. They have done a great job of upkeep, maintenance, new painting and also complying with COVID protocols. Nice touches throughout such as new towels, piano player/singer, free bottled water, bug spray available, cool art around the property and giant African tortoises. Close to everything too. Keep on keeping on Gardens's Hotel team!
google avatar

Yelp
What a treat! Great hosts Jim and David greeted us immediately. Settled us in and gave us great detail about the property, the amenities and our room. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The pool was awesome complete with floaties and doesn't close! The grounds were beautiful and tropical with birds and turtles. Even the turtles were friendly. Jim told us to feed them hibiscus and they all came over. Duval st is just a block away. Park your car and forget about it! The wine bar (self serve:) is open till 10. Pool bar is also open. Last night there was live piano music 5-7. Our room was awesome! Our own balcony overlooking the pool, comfy robes, jacuzzi tub, memory foam bed loaded with pillows. Everything you need is in the bathroom even a loofah! Breakfast is included and it was a nice spread of eggs, croissants, meats and cheeses, cereal, bread, bagels, juices, granola and yogurt. We don't want to leave!! But we will be back!

Yelp
My wife and I made a fairly last minute decision to head to Key West, which would be our first time. We checked out a few places to stay online and The Gardens looked really nice, so we booked. You never know what to expect the first time traveling to a place, especially the accommodations (when you don't read a single review) but we couldn't be happier. Our check-in was with David and he was super thorough explaining everything about his establishment and the island itself, the complimentary Prosecco was a nice touch! The staff here is super friendly, from all the folks cleaning in the morning to Mark the bartender, we could not have felt more welcome. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and very well maintained - everything ownership does and has put into this place is first class. The rooms are quaint and very comfortable (the mattress is fantastic). We were amused, and took advantage of, the self-serve wine bar, which has some outstanding selections. It is very quiet and relaxing, even by the pool (leaving 9° and three kids at home can make anything relaxing though hahahaha) but you're just a block away from all the action. I cannot recommend this place enough.

Yelp
This hotel is a gem...From the moment we checked in everything was perfect. The two gentlemen in the office are so nice. Loved starting out our time at hotel with a glass of prosecco handed to us before we even left the office . We were shown the grounds and pool and cabana on the way to our room. Our room was wonderful...My husband especially loved the wine dispensing system they have. You are able to try (i believe 25) wines. You can do a taste pour, or mid pour, or a full glass. The bartender at the cabana bar was so helpful and suggested restrains for us to eat at. We were sorry that we didn't stay longer but the next time we go to KeyWest this is where we will stay Beautiful property and easy to walk to Duval .

Yelp
I loved my experience at The Gardens Hotel in Key West. I did a lot of research on Yelp and TripAdvisor to find a great location in Old Town, since I knew I wanted to be within walking distance of all the Key West attractions. And The Gardens Hotel couldn't have a better spot, right on Angela Street, half a block from the famous (infamous) Duval Street. As I learned on my tourist trolley tour, Upper Duval is more arty and Lower Duval is more party, and The Gardens Hotel sits right at that intersection. From the moment I booked my room, I started to receive personal treatment from The Gardens Hotel, with e-mails about up-and-coming events and communications about my arrival plans. I had some major flight delays due to mechanical difficulties of my airplane, and the hotel was in constant contact with me to make sure that I'd be able to check in even if it was after hours (the office closes at 10pm). Thankfully, I arrived just after 6pm and was able to get the check-in glass of prosecco along with the full lay of the land. I did a quick tour of the main hotel grounds (pool, bar, garden, wine room, breakfast room) and then went next door to the cottages. I was booked in Cottage 3, which is more like a mini condo with a living room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom, as well as a nice outdoor porch area and a small private pool for the four cottages on the property. Cottage residents are also able to use the main pool at the hotel, which is awesome. These cottages are not separated, but comprise one large "house." Though I couldn't hear my neighbors speaking through the walls, I could hear the people in Cottage 4, which was above mine, walking around their unit. The amenities are not to be overlooked...they are outstanding. From wonderful customer service, to a lovely included breakfast each morning (which can be eaten inside in the AC or outside by the pool), plus the live music, pool bar, and my personal favorite, the shared bookshelf in the main living room (I left a copy of Liane Moriarty's TRULY, MADLY, GUILTY and hope someone else enjoys it as much as I did). Also, the gardens are really beautiful; they are a tropical oasis. It is such a joy to get lost in the winding paths on the property. There are surprises around every twist and turn, including unusual and beautiful artwork, as well as birds in a vintage birdcage, koi in two small ponds, and four rescue tortoises. With the two house cats and some of the wild Key West chickens and roosters, it's like visiting a nature reserve. I cannot wait to return to Key West, and I will only stay at The Gardens Hotel!

Yelp
Spoiled rotten. Two words describing how we felt after leaving The Gardens Hotel. We got lucky on this gem after finding one heck of a deal on hotels.com. The hotel is situated in a great location! It's a block away from Duval Street but far enough from the action that this property is quite and peaceful. What can you expect from The Gardens Hotel? -complimentary glass of champagne upon arrival -tour of the property -beautiful grounds with gorgeous gardens & fountains -spacious, clean, comfortable rooms with lots of character -wonderful, helpful, friendly staff -complimentary European style breakfast served daily -- pastries & bagels from local bakeries, fruit, meats & cheeses, yogurt, and a hot egg dish they prepare in their kitchen. -pool with a 13 person capacity -a small selection of small plates served until 8pm -complimentary pool rafts -complimentary sunscreen in your room -complimentary beach towels -complimentary robes -complimentary fruit infused water & tea served by the pool -poolside bar with a nice list of beers, cocktails & wine -state of the art wine tasting bar giving you the ability to sample wines by the once, half glass, and full glass starting around $.80 for a taste #roseallday -beautiful large porch with chairs in front of your room to read, sit & relax -live piano Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 5-7. -jazz in the gardens every Sunday Tips: -Receive a complimentary bottle of wine with your Yelp check-in -Room #11 is very quiet. -Hungry but want to hang by the pool? There are many options within walking distance: DJ's Clam Shack, Havana, Clemente's Trolley Pizzeria, etc. that you can quickly get and bring back. -Don't drive. Park your car and rent bicycles for the week. It's the easiest & quickest way to get around town. -If you have a late flight they will keep your luggage for you. You can continue using their amenities including the pool. They have a large cabana bathroom complete with a nice shower, towels, etc.

Yelp
We stayed in the most expensive room, a separate cottage that faces Simonton Street. The cottage was spacious and clean with a super comfortable oversized king bed. Unfortunately, for $600/night it was a disappointment. While everything in KW is over priced, it was still a disappointment. The front desk clerk at check in was not friendly or welcoming... making us feel that she was doing us a favor. I asked for a Kate check out and her response was to call in the morning. Turns out she was at checkout in the morning! And at checkout she actually charged me for a bottle of water that I used to make coffee. The hotel is also directly under the flight path to the airport ... so plan on being awakened by 7am. I really wanted patronize a local business and hope to do so again in KW ... but unfortunately not with the Gardens Hotel.

Yelp
A hidden gem! This place has been the best thing about 2020. The staff was thoughtful, Jay is a great bartender, and of course the setting is impeccable. We finally felt like we could relax this year. We'd go to Duval in the chaos and only want to come back and sit on the quiet front porch, or poolside gazebo, or hammock! They took fabulous care of us (think Prosecco on check in and daily fresh towels dropped off in a pandemic). It's so cozy, one of those places you are sad to leave. Would highly recommend.

Yelp
YELP HELP! FYI, I would be strongly suspicous of any 5 star reviews dated in the month following 9/24/13. They sent out a an email asking for Yelp reviews -- in exchange a random winner will be selected to win a 3 night stay.

Yelp
This is an absolutely wonderful place to stay! An Oasis of calm a block off Duval, right in the Middle of the action. Not kid friendly, its 16 and over to stay, so not good for the family vaca, but for a quiet getaway it is perfect. Pool is open all night and heated. I love coming back from a night on Duval and swimming a few laps. Grounds are beautiful, hotel is immaculate, Room is very nice (low on drawer space but didnt bother me) Temperpedic beds are awesome...i have one at home and it so nice to have one when traveling for a change. Staff is SO NICE ... Just a great place. I'm four days into a ten day stay and couldnt be happier.

Yelp
In the spirit of a tradition started a couple years ago Ameal was looking forward to an evening of music and beverages poolside at The Gardens Hotel. This was the first time we have been able to attend since the start of the Covid response in Key West. I think the Gardens stopped hosting this type of event for a while. I was happy to hear that the entire place was booked, some 30+ tables spoken for but they did manage to squeeze us in thanks to our hostess Karen who did a terrific job, she was nice and attentive. The remainder of the evening was much less than tolerable however, from the 20 dollars a head cover to the very slow and confused waiter that accepted our order. They have a plan...tip your table number down and it indicates you are all set, stand your number up and that signals the wait staff you are in need. Seems simple enough but when you are the only wait staff and you are attending several tables it makes for slow response. Slow service coupled with refrigerated wine served in plastic cups topped with straw feed lids made for a clumsy experience. My guests were prompted to comment that the wine seemed as if it were poured earlier in the week and set inside the cooler much like sippy cups waiting to be served. The jazz band playing was 'okay' nothing you would have wanted to experience for 20 bucks, but the garden setting was nice. We asked our wait person for the check after about 45 minutes...of course that took another 15 minutes. Then a higher level wait person stopped by (presumably a manager) to inquire about our experience at The Gardens Hotel and when we explained that we had made dinner plans and the service was slow he interrupted and told us to "tell Karen", confused by the response we simply said no-problem, and politely pointed out that he had asked us. So if you are in the mood for mediocre music, stale wine and have 20 bucks to cover the cover, I will tell you drop into The Gardens Hotel, they have an abundance of nothing much to see here.

Yelp
Great getaway! It made our first trip to Key West as a couple magical. The grounds are fabulous, perfect for nature and animal lovers.

Yelp
I visit Key West as often as possible and usually stay with friends but this is always my next choice! Not only the nicest rooms in Key West but the best people as well. I love the poolside bar (Adam can make anything - the greatest mojitos). I always hit the wine bar for their Cabaret show. It's a don't miss if you are going to Key West. Try to go when Jimmy Olsen is playing - VERY FUN! He always brings in a fun group of locals. This is how I have gotten to know so many fun people in Key West. When you go make sure to tell Kate and Jimmy that Woody sent you!

Yelp
Wow, the attention to detail by the staff is amazing! The rooms are terrific and the grounds are beautifully maintained. Aside from the grounds, the pool is an oasis in itself. It is complimented with a bar and a large selection of various wines. The location is perfect for anyone who wants to be centrally located. It is just a block off of Duval Street and within walking/biking distance of anything Key West offers. This hotel could easily be described as a paradise within a paradise. I highly recommend this hotel if you want an outstanding vacation!

Yelp
This is a beautiful place, but the noise is ridiculous. I had no peace the entire stay. I asked to leave a day early and they would not refund the money. They offered to try to sell the night for me. I am educator, so as you can imagine I like to get the most for my money. I was so disappointed. I just wanted a nice quiet peaceful vacation. The looks does not make up for the noise. The people walking all day and night above me drove me crazy. I could hear everything the people beside and above me did! Ridiculous. On top of the expensive nightly rate, we paid $25 a day to park and the lot was so small it was a nightmare trying to park. The maid could not speak english. I booked this under the assumption it was a hotel. It is not. It is a house where you hear every little noise. Don't make the same mistake I made.

Yelp
We had a great time at this beautiful inn. The grounds and the room was perfect. It was great to have breakfast included to sit outside in the gardens and nice pool. They had a nice wine bar to enjoy in the quiet of the evening. The Inn is two blocks from Duval Street which was nice to walk everywhere. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again when visiting Key West. Just a note it's more of an "adult quiet get away" and would be hard to stay here with kids

Yelp
This is one of the best hotel experiences!! We stayed in room 12. The setting is so unique and beautiful. You feel like you are in a secluded lush garden yet you are close to main Duval area. The room looked just like the pictures. Some small details that really made it special: a glass of Prosecco at check in, huge colorful pool towels wrapped with a piece of raffia, wonderful breakfast spread, exfoliating sponges with sunscreen dispenser in the bathroom, Keurig coffee maker in your room, AC that is quiet and effective, private outdoor sitting areas for each room, and the best super comfy pillows and bed!! If you want to get true Key West feel, stay here!!! The only thing that should be noted parking is $20 a night and it's pretty small driveway so would not recommend a huge SUV trying to fit.

Yelp
Charming place. One of the cleanest in the area. Staff was great, Wine bar was a wonderful surprise and pool area was a southern charm. definitely an oasis. HOWEVER, (I wasn't going to say anything, but I went to them personally, and nothing was fixed...or even attempted to be changed.) BREAKFAST IS AWFUL! We justified the price of the room thinking the breakfast would be amazing like the place. NOT. The worst in my life. The continental part of it was ok, but the hot breakfast you can order, disgusting. Day 1: Toasted english muffin topped with egg and cheese. Sounds simple right? It came out like a mound of melted cheese on an english muffin. Muffin not toasted, the only egg was a few pieces of chopped hard boiled egg in melted cheese. It was gross. The yogurt martini had been sitting in the fridge for a while as the granola was very very moist. Day 2: Key Lime French Toast. Sounds harmless right? It was if they dipped the bread in batter for 1 quick second and dropped it in a fryer the night before, put key lime flavoring on top, stuck it in the microwave and served it to you. bread was dry on the inside and it was pathetic. Unfortunately, this part of the experience is what we are walking away with. when someone says how was the Gardens Hotel.....we say nice, but the breakfast was etrotious. It was actually an insult and slap in the face to anyone that has the money to afford to stay there. Like they won't notice? really. Totally insulted. Don't let breakfast ruin your business that you have worked hard to build. You would be better off not offering the hot breakfast.

Yelp
Truly a disappointment. While the gardens are lovely, the guest house brands itself as 5 star. Unfortunately it's far from it, especially given the steep price point. Broken and malfunctioning furniture and equipment in the rooms go unnoticed, the staff is passively rude and ignorant, and simple requests like fresh towels, evening turndown, to fix a leaky faucet or broken shutter, or even where / how to rent a bike are met with disdain.

Yelp
If you are traveling to Key West and you want a unique experience please consider this awesome bed and breakfast. This is really more of a hotel then B&B, each room is carefully decorated and detailed- marble bathrooms and enormous, comfy beds. My wife and I traveled here for a vacation while we were still dating and had a outstanding week. We chose the Garden based on a recommendation by Conde Nast and Fodors. This honestly is among the nicest hotel I have ever stayed at and I travel 60+ times a year and live in hotels. The pool and gardens are very well kept (check out the tortoises!) and great to relax in after hitting Duval Street, the beach, or any of the other nearby destinations. Parking is available and since they are located near everything you can pretty much walk everywhere. I would recommend going to Hemingway home, Honda Bahia State Park ( just south of Marathon Island), and eat at the Flaming Buoy. All can be found on Yelp or a good travel guide. Finally, the Dry Torgtugas is a must if you want some adventure. If you do decided to make the trek, be sure to get you reservation way in advance as they have limited availability. You will not be disappointed. I felt prices were very reasonable considering the level of quality everything was. This place would be over a $1000 bucks a night if it were in Hawaii. Enjoy and thanks for making our vacation awesome!

Yelp
We love the Gardens Hotel! We've been coming here about yearly for the last 5-7 years. The things that keep us coming back: -Rooms are beautiful, tropical style, comfortable not stuffy. -Pool area is a mini paradise (although I really miss the hottub that used to be there) -Included breakfast (although it's changed numerous times over the years -from various buffets to a la carte- and is currently at its most sparse) -Close location to Duval St (but still quiet) -d'vine wine: serve your own wine by the glass Although we've always had pretty good service at the Gardens, our expectations were pleasantly exceeded by Ken who was there during our stay this time. He helped us get bikes, a fantastic kayak tour, dinner suggestions, etc. He was so friendly and helpful and was a big part of the reason our vacation went from good to great! A couple things that Gardens Hotel could do better (IMO): recognize their repeat guests, offer more breakfast options (particularly fresh cooked options), keep the pool and pool area swept (there was a lot of plant debris around which is not the norm there), bring back the hottub! We will almost definitely stay there again when we return!

Yelp
I could have stayed here for weeks, unfourtantly our stay was much shorter. This place is great if your looking to relax. Im pretty type A and it can be hard for me to kick back by choice but this place forces it upon you. The rooms aren't big but are gorgeous and everything is quality. Excellent breakfast in the morning and an amazing "wine bar" that dispenses wine at all hours of the day. This is the place to stay in Key West.
