My two friends and I stopped here for a late breakfast before we headed to the Spokane airport to go back home. The food was delicious, service was great. Our server was very polite and the atmosphere in general was very homey. The food literally gave off home cooked meal vibes. I ordered the spaghetti and eggs, and my two friends ordered omelettes. We shared the pancake and sausage gravy. Everything tasted delicious. If I am ever in the area again, I am definitely coming back.

Tried the steak and eggs, great flavor on that steak, no sauce needed! (It looks small in the pick because I dug in before I remembered to take a Pic! Lol. But it was a hefty steak!). The potatoes were a big oil logged, I prefer more light and crunchy on those. But other than that, all was amazing! --oh they use a great raspberry jam too!! Went a second time for a wedge salad, which was done with small tight leaf Romain so still had a nice crisp crunch, loved it! And great price for a small lunch under $7 with tax!!

Google
This place is fantastic!! We had the vegan selection of beans, veggie hash, and sausages. You could taste the freshness of the ingredients, the service was fast, and the staff were super friendly. And the interiors have a spunk that'll bring a smile your face! We were helped by Krista, who was very polite and helpful.

The Garnet is a great breakfast spot in midtown CDA. Located near Costco on Government Way this relocate has better parking and more tables/room inside than the old place. The good is still excellent with nice twists on favorites and dishes you just don't see in other locations (like duck eggs and spaghetti and eggs!) Portions are generous and the waitresses are friendly and attentive. A great place overall. Why aren't you headed there right now?

Google
This is the best kept secret of hole-in-the-wall brunch spots that’s about to get out. The veggie hash was tossed with fresh crunchy veggies, potato browns, and scrambled eggs. A side of toast complimented the main plate perfectly with the house-made fruit jelly and lemon curd spread. The secret taste is in the fresh ingredients that have not sat in a freezer or a jar somewhere. The server was friendly. The other guests were friendly. I am definitely going back! Like right now.

Everything was superb. They were super busy but that didn't deter from the exceptional service provided. Their lemon curd and their raspberry jam are SO GOOD!!!

Google
We tried this place for the first time this morning. It was worth the drive from Spokane. We arrived at around 7:30am and the place was already buzzing, but not overly crowded. Servers were busy, but still waited on us efficiently and with courtesy. I had the avocado toast and a single pancake (which was huge). Our server very kindly granted my request for heart-healthy modifications. Although it seemed like I ate a lot of food, I was very satisfied, but didn't feel overly full. It was perfect. Finally, I always appreciate a business that provides an atmosphere of inclusivity. I'm glad to see they are doing good business. We'll definitely be back!

Google
Driven by reviews about their potatoes, I decided to check out Garnet. I opted for a classic breakfast, featuring scrambled eggs and veggie sausage--nothing too out of the ordinary in terms of presentation. However, the lemon curd and strawberry jam truly stood out. Paired with sourdough toast, the spreads made the meal exceptionally delicious. Potatoes come with caramelized onions and they are delicious. The service was impressively quick, and the ambiance was pleasantly low-key. The total cost for three dishes was $48, which seems quite reasonable. Is it worth a visit? Definitely yes.

Yelp
So glad The Garnet is back up and running !! Had the today's special, Breakfast Quesadilla. So yummy ! See you next weekend .

Yelp
Friendly staff with fast service and good food. The wife and I have eaten here 2x now and we will be back

Yelp
This is a great place for breakfasts and lunch Really busy, so plan on some wait times, especially after church on Sundays We had a most excellent server, Nicole, I think, and she was fast, efficient, funny, and all with a great attitude So what makes this place unique? The menu. They have the regular breakfast selections you'll find everywhere, and they are excellent, fresh, and smartly priced. Still, they also have some original and eclectic items on the menu that are delicious as they are original! For example, I had spaghetti and eggs, which comes with the fixings too! So delicious. So Have the regular items you'll find anywhere ( my friend had ham and eggs and loved it!) or throw some caution to the wind and get something unique that you can only find here! Fantastic service even when slammed busy! I love their coffee!!

Yelp
This place is amazing! I first took My granddaughter and daughter, here in the fall after we went to scary Wood. Best breakfast I have ever had in my entire life! I just knew I had to bring my husband here. In June, we came back, and I was not disappointed. He had fresh duck eggs, duck leg, and the Bloody Mary. And he loved it! They make their own biscuits, bread, and lemon curd that is out of this world! Where else can you go? We're on the menu you have your choice between fresh farm, chicken, eggs, fresh, duck, eggs, or just regular chicken eggs? I do not know of a place but here. I had to bring my family back again in August. I would highly recommend this place, and if you can get the waitress by the name of Krista, she is amazing!!! I tell everyone to stop by the Garnet for breakfast or lunch if they're headed towards Coeur d'Alene. We will be coming back!

Yelp
I came to Couer D'Alene for personal family reasons, my dad was having surgery at the hospital down the street. This restaurant was recommended to me by the hospital employees. The exterior was not what I was expecting but I heard the food and drinks were amazing here! I was seated right away and very impressed by how cute this restaurant is inside. The server took my order right away because I was starving, I decided to order the Bonner omelet and a cup of coffee. The food came out SO fast and they had every condiment I could possibly need. They offered an amazing rosemary sourdough bread that the server recommended I mix with their famous lemon curd and raspberry jam. It did not disappoint! The toast was definitely the highlight for me. The omelet was pretty good, and although it had (phenomenal) goat cheese inside, I think it could have used a little more salt or maybe one more cheese to hold it all together, since it was just vegetables inside and egg wrapped around them. I was too full to try the potatoes but they looked delicious. The Garnet cafe does not offer Wi-Fi but I was able to have enough cell signal to use a hotspot and work for a while. My server, Freya (or so the reciept says), was so, so kind to me and told me I can stay as long as I want. I love the ambience here and it's clear that this is a local spot with many raving fans! It's clear that this establishment values inclusivity. I appreciated the LGBTQ representation in this restaurant. Also the vegan/vegetarian options. I will definitely look forward to my next visit back! Thank you so much for your wonderful hospitality!

Yelp
I stopped into The Garnet cafe on a Saturday morning around 730 and it quickly filled up. We had a group of 8 and everyone had drinks with breakfast. Our server was so efficient and on top of every detail. I really enjoyed my grapefruit ginger mimosa. I got an scramble for breakfast that was huge and packed full of veggies, but it could have used a bit more seasoning. The rosemary sourdough with lemon curd and jam was amazing, definitely don't miss it! It's a cozy spot for breakfast or brunch but get there early on the weekends unless you have time to wait.

Yelp
4/5 Food 3/5 Interior 5/5 Service Overall: 4/5 Honorable mention for being pride friendly!! This was our first time in since their relocation. Some loss in charm and it feels a bit more "greasy spoon", but the new location offers more space, less noise, and faster seating. Service was great and the food came out quicker than I expected. They use Union Roaster coffee which is one of my favorites in town. Food is better than average, but not in the "great" category I'd place a few other breakfast spots in. Quality ingredients! They have GF bread which I appreciate.

Yelp
Yummy breakfast place. It was packed when we went, but they turn tables pretty quick so the wait wasn't too long. We were 6th in line and got sat in about 15minutes. They have a counter option as well. Our server was sweet and the food was great.

Yelp
Note that they had a fire and are closed for now. We went in mid November to find it closed with a sign on the door.

Yelp
This was my first time visiting, and I chose this based on the good reviews on yelp. I was pleasantly surprised the food was great. The service was great. Keep up the great work Garnet Cafe.

Yelp
Random stumble while deciding to Road Trip to Spokane after visiting my sister in Missoula. Like what... can i eat here everyday?!? Please... if i didn't live in Minnesota this would be a repeat place for me! Nate and i got the same Classic Breakfast, him Over easy, me scrambled, him toast, me biscuits (which dude stole) and both sausage patties...like what magic is those patties...its like spicy and sweet...magic! Layla decided on Sweet Cream and Berries French Toast. Good luck trying them she killed em in 2 minutes. Nobody had a chance! Keep doing what you're doing!! Don't miss the chance of eating here. Place was pretty filled nothing crazy (as it is a Tuesday) but you can tell its liked by locals.

Yelp
My travel buddy and I fuelled up for a fun day in ID and eastern WA. Garnet showed up during my "breakfast places" search and what a great choice it was! Garnet offers some cool twists on breakfast classics as well as vegan or vegetarian options. Unless you know where you're going it could be easily missed on the side of the road, as it has no flashy sign or storefront. Behind the doors is a tasty little restaurant with delicious offerings.

Yelp
If you want a great breakfast or brunch in an old-style cafe, this is the place for you to go. It was crowded the Saturday morning when we went, but that's a good sign for the quality of the food that you're going to find there! Also, they have spam and eggs. Yes, they really do. I've made spam and eggs myself at home, but I'm not sure I've seen a cafe that actually has spam and eggs on the menu in a very long time. You should try it. I mean, it's spam, so you're not going to be in for any massive surprise, but you can just ask them and they make it for you! It's great! They also have pretty large portion sizes, so bring your appetite.
google avatar

Leslie K.

Yelp
They have an extensive breakfast menu so it was hard to choose but I made the right choice -- johnny cakes with poached eggs and a side of spinach. I'll definitely return when I'm back in this neck of the woods...or valley. ;-)

Yelp
A complete bust. Incredibly disappointed. My wife and I kept asking each other if we had the right place - so many reviews were positive. Unfortunately yes, we hadn't made a mistake. I'll focus on the disappointing food. The place is nothing to look at, but that's not really what you're looking for. We split the "Country" Benedict and the Dad's French Toast. The country dish had biscuits topped with pork sausage patties, eggs, and gravy (no hollandaise sauce). Side of potatoes. Except for the potatoes it was pretty flavorless. The sausage had a funny taste to go with its lack of flavor. Certainly nothing positive. The eggs were tasteless. Biscuits. Gravy. All void of flavor. On with the parade of tastelessness. The Dad's French toast. Also no flavor. Miraculously, putting syrup on it did not really do anything. Some French toast seems like a foil for the syrup. This wasn't even that. It looked like French toast - just...now say it with me!...no flavor. Incredible. Like I said, we kept wondering if we'd somehow gotten the wrong place. Our server was friendly but didn't do anything to bring the review up. My wife asked for some milk for her coffee. The server forgot. I needed more coffee. She asked if I would like some more (yes!), then she went over and messed with tickets for some time before finally bringing some coffee (which was right next to where she was focused on the tickets). Bummer. Not at ALL what I expected.

Yelp
Nice family style place with good veggie options and considerate waitstaff. I had freshly made oatmeal with blueberries but on another trip I had one of their veggie packed omelets. I'm omnivorous but like a place with more than one lonely vegetarian choices as I have no meat family members. Nice.

Yelp
Food was outstanding, creative and well-executed. Service was quick and friendly. Atmosphere is fun and laid back with lots of charming design elements and quirky pieces of flair. Country fried steak was large portion with a crackling crust. Very flavorful. My only complaint is the sausage gravy on top didn't have much in the way of sausage bits, and it tasted a bit overly smooth and one-note in the way of gravy mixes. Sourdough toast was a goddamn rock star. Real bread with depth of flavor, a hearty chew, and wonderfully moist with an outstanding pull. The kinda bread you make tender love to with your hands and mouth rather more than simply eat as such. You know what I'm talking about bread people! And it's served with house-made lemon curd and jam! Mmm! Nicely prepared and seasoned house potatoes on the side. I'm a hash brown man myself but these potatoes were most welcome and a fine tribute to their otherwise inferior bretheran. Seating is tight but it's a great atmosphere. Even lib-tard Washingtonians like myself felt very much at home here and it's got the feel of a welcoming community space with little pretense or affectation but metric shit-tons of charm. We went for Sunday brunch and spent maybe 20 minutes waiting outside. No big deal. Parking is ample.

Yelp
Gluten free & vegetarian options galore. The food is amazing & their are Lira of options for different diets. The service is great ! Check it out

Yelp
I saw that this place was highly rated and came here after a morning hike and a lot more walking around the downtown Coeur d'Alene area. This is a little bit north in a much quieter and more residential area of CDA. This is a comfy diner that has a lot of funny signs around the restaurant like the definition of hangry and a sign that says "We do not have wifi. Talk to each other.. pretend it's 1995". I ordered the sandpoint omelet ($15) which is their meat-y omelet. You can also get these omelets in the form of a hash, scramble, or a burrito. The NW potatoes were really good (no surprise because Idaho) and the sausage on top is great as well. They also have a lot of vegetarian and vegan options if you are looking for those. I was stuffed after clearing my plate and was happy with everything I had. The staff was also very nice and friendly as well.

Yelp
So glad we stopped! Fun staff, fun happy decore. Best food we jad in town. Odered extra toast just so we could eat more jam and lemon curd, not usually a bread person, but it was sooo good! Duck sausage was a wonderful treat. Definately a don't miss breakfast
google avatar

John H.

Yelp
Ok..a bit hard to find, but once you are there you are in for a treat! It your typical road side diner...some really interesting dishes on the menu. The coffee was outstanding and service was top notch. Prices were very good. Will definitely go back when I'm here in this part of Idaho!

Yelp
We saw the reviews and headed here for the first time. Parked the car in front and wondering if we were stereotyped since we had California plates. Such Horrible customer service. My husband and I walked in this morning (tue 7/11) with our 2 kids and stood there for 10 minutes in the front with everyone passing by us as if they didn't see us. No one said anything to us. We ended up leaving. Such rude people. We are so kind too. I would never be so rude to customers. Get better employees.

Yelp
I loved this spot for breakfast. We enjoyed this easily missed spot on a Wednesday morning - so it was not busy at all and service was awesome. I think you can park on the side or in the back too when it is busy. Menu has a fun twist on some breakfast items (duck sausage anyone?) and even vegan options. Coffee is good too, not your standard diner coffee. I've been saving my one cup a day to only the good stuff and it didn't disappoint. They even brought me some oat milk to use when I asked. I decided on the pancakes and added two slices of large bacon. Pancakes were huge too - the blueberries if added were a nice addition too. I also loved the dish wear and the large coffee cups. Overall I'm so happy we stopped here. This will be a new staple for me when I'm in town and looking for a good breakfast in the area.

Dan S.

Yelp
It's still closed going on a year now , yall could have bought land and built a restaurant by now!
google avatar

Yelp
Always a good time, good food, and I love that they're a bit "unusual". Classic diner feels and a really fun menu. Employees are polite, helpful, and patient when trying to decide on what to eat.
google avatar

Stephanie F.

Yelp
They have excellent french toast in this cute little dinner-like place on the north side of town.

Yelp
Once we figured out the cafe had moved...a year ago! ‍ There was a short wait but totally worth it! Hubby had the Eggs Benedict. He said it was good. Said the hollandaise was a little thin but tasty. I had the Green Eggs and Ham. OMG!! So good. Excellent pesto and shaved parm. Can't forget the sliced ham. A piece was at least an inch thick! Very tasty. Highly recommend!! The coffee they serve is outstanding. Makes us wanna ditch the Keurig and go back to brewed coffee. Sometimes you just forget how good brewed coffee tastes. Let's chat about the homemade raspberry jam and lemon curd...TO DIE FOR! I mean, yum!! Finally, service- OUTSTANDING! Our server, Krista, was top notch !

Marie S.

Yelp
Thought i'd give the Garnet Café another try, but but I still have to give it an average rating. The homemade sausage has TONS of garlic in it to the point I couldn't eat it, and I like garlic- I had to send them back. My English muffin was just warmed with melted butter in the center, but NOT toasted in the slightest! The potatoes were like warmed over to bake potatoes with with seasoning, but no brown on them at all, the eggs, however, were done to perfection. Service was average- no "3 minute go back" to see if everything was okay-tried flagging her down 3 times regarding the sausage before she stopped. The young man that was also serving was chewing gum with his mouth open the whole time I was there and it was like watching someone eat with their mouth open- yuck. Will I go back a third time, probably not.
google avatar

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
New location is easy to find but seems to be more of a traditional cafe vibe. I had the cinnamon swirl pancakes which were absolutely delicious. I had the sausage Pattie's on the side and they had great flavor, but tasted overly salty. The waitress noticed I did not eat them after a couple bites and checked to see if I did not like it. So great service and she took them off the bill. The best possible outcome when a dish is not to the diners tastes. Go here for a great meal.
google avatar

Ramona W.

Yelp
Always love The Garnet!! Great food, great presentation, great atmosphere, great service! What's not to love? One of my top choices for breakfast!
google avatar

James C.

Yelp
I like salmon and I really enjoyed the Northwest omelet here. Ordered mine without toast or potatoes - just veggies. It was amazing! Not cheap but excellent quality and taste.

Cassie B.

Yelp
Bonner Omelette and homemade lemon curd on biscuits are to die for! Anxiously awaiting reopening after a fire last year. Love you, Garnet Cafe!

Molly S.

Yelp
PLEASE TAKE NOTE! The Garnet Cafe is CLOSED till further notice due to an electrical fire. How unfortunate. 9-28-23
google avatar

Nancy N.

Yelp
The food menu is truly unique! If you like to try new experiences this cafe is great. The lack of 5 stars is not about the food. The interior space is extremely crowded And every time I've been there you have to keep your elbows tucked in or a server will run into you. I'm a very small woman and I cannot imagine a large person in The restaurant being comfortable. That being said..it has its charm and I would return.
google avatar

Lexi L.

Yelp
I LOVE that this place moved to a bigger location. The food was amazing. The staff and server were super nice and friendly. Will definitely be back! :)
google avatar

Heidi S.

Yelp
Delicious Eggs Benedict , and unique Bloody Mary with strip of bacon. I have the McMuffin sandwich with a duck patty and arugula. The food can quickly and such a unique menu. They have yummy cocktails too. The servers were so nice and attentive. We WILL be back!
google avatar

T Z.

Yelp
Not only was the food outstanding, but the service was above and beyond! I most defiantly recommend the pesto to top your eggs. It is fresh and full of flavor.
google avatar

Libby S.

Yelp
A PERFECT breakfast hole in the wall! We were seated quickly, the host & server were so sunny & sweet! The menu was packed with delicious options! Gluten free toast option, & it was a very good type! They bring each meal with raspberry jam & their famous lemon curd YUM!! It was bustling & fun atmosphere! Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Tom P.

Yelp
Great service and food. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The ambiance was acceptable for a this type of restaurant
google avatar

Jules S.

Yelp
This restaurant is an absolute GEM. Pun intended ;) From the amazing waitstaff, delicious coffee, huckleberry lemonade and stellar food, if you choose to eat anywhere in this town it has to be a stop at the Garnet Cafe. They were packed so hubs and I sat at the bar and we were so glad we did. There were some locals chatting away and gave us the run down on the menu. Duck eggs with everything made the creamiest, most decadent eggs Benedict. Their home made lemon curd and raspberry jam made my mouth very happy. Their prices are amazing for the quality and bounty of food. 10/10 for this restaurant.
google avatar

Joanne M.

Yelp
The service, the atmosphere, the food!! All just excellent! We will be back when we come back to town!

Tanya H.

Yelp
Food & atmosphere was better at old location. It's different. Still good food but has come down in quality & quantity a little. Breakfast spaghetti is the bomb though! We love the Garnet even though it's changed. Just glad some of the old haunts are still here.

Ben R.

Yelp
This place is fantastic! Good atmosphere and great food! I had the eggs Benedict with fried green tomatoes and it was excellent!
google avatar

Jefferson D.

Yelp
Went here for breakfast and was absolutely pleased! I had the eggs beni. The hollandaise sauce was unique and amazing! And the lemon curd they make was delightful. Very clean spot. Even though it was busy we were very promptly served and the waitress was very attentive. The music caught us off guard but it was fun. Will definitely be coming back.
google avatar

Mark G.

Yelp
Lemon curd and Raspberry spread - amazing!! Didn't really care for the dark ck sausage - no flavor there. Solid place for a good breakfast.
google avatar

sadie t.

Yelp
Love the servers and the energy in the restaurant. It is 100% worth the wait because they get busyyy and for a reason! Spaghetti and eggs with pesto is my favorite meal there by far. They also have tons of other options for the less adventurous. Can't forget their amazing mimosa menu and that lemon curd and rosemary toast!
google avatar

Jill M.

Yelp
Always amazing food, great coffee, and excellent service. My favorite Spaghetti with duck sausage!

Scott C.

Yelp
Horrible experience. Last place in CDA that you should go to. Pride issues are more important than customer service.
google avatar

James M.

Yelp
Food was good, service was not. It is a cute little place. Unfortunately, we only saw our waitress 3 times, to take our order, brought our food, and brought the check. No refills on water, coffee...nothing. Very disappointed. Was our first time there, and will give them another try. Check back for an updated review. :-)

Yelp
This place was delicious. If you want some good food check this place out. I feel like this is a place that stands the test of time. I love that they have organic items in their restaurant. If you are in the area. Check them out!
