The Gasparilla Inn

The most important part of this best is the historical look. I’m a local guy to Florida and I’m so impressed with how they decorated the local art and also had pictures of local fisherman with Tarpon that was beautiful to look at. The service was remarkable. They really made me and my wife feel very special and like we were the only ones in the dining room area made us feel part of the community like we were family! I hope everybody can experience a dinner like this once in my life absolutely outstanding highly recommend ! Thank you so much the Gasparilla Inn! 🏨

Had to switch rooms when we initially got there. The air conditioner was broken. Got a new room no problem . Never got any maid service during our stay. Had dinner at the main dining room. Service was excellent. Entrees were not edible . The bread and butter were excellent. For the high amount you pay to stay, I would not recommend a trip there. However, it is a beautiful historic hotel which is reminiscent of old Florida charm. The golf course is is in excellent shape and the pro shop staff is outstanding.

Beautiful, over-the-top place. Excellent service, they spoil you. Downsides are that it’s very well-to-do, exclusive, etc with dress codes and the social climbing vibe. The Inn staff do a great job there and you will feel very taken care of.

This place is breathtaking from the gorgeous main hotel to the junior suite and the beach club. They don’t skip a beat and it shows. I have always wanted to stay at this historic in and now I have and I promise I will be back. We were treated like royalty and we loved every moment. Thank you for the amazing stay, I’m dreaming of it now.

I visit the Gasparilla inn monthly and I am always amazed on how clean and well kept the property is. I was at the laundry facility and it is so clean Arielle was working and she has the facility looking and smells amazing. Thank you for all that you do. Happy Holidays

Second trip. Fabulous location. Idyllic. Even better this time around. Last time we did the full meal plan. It was excessive. Switched to modified American Much prefer. This time we came minus the dog so stayed in main hotel. Very nice. Love The Pink Elephant. Definitely eat at The Temp in town

We absolutely loved our stay at The Gasparilla Inn. From the moment we entered the property we were greeted with a huge welcome which carried thru our entire stay. Great service, beautiful decor, lush clean landscaping…just beautiful

Very Nice Property on Boca Grande island, FL with Golf course and Beach Club. Historic Hotel built in 1910 with additional cottages on the beach and around the property. It is very pricey to stay there, but the experience is Great.

Food was not good! Octopus burnt; duck leg dry and chewy. And my Chardonnay was $34 a glass!!! If I had known I certainly wouldn't have had two glasses! Building is beautiful, service is excellent, but that's it.

Stunning as always. I love love love their afternoon tea time. The sunroom is so bright and beautifully decorated as well. I love their outdoor bar seating. It overlooks the golf course and is just gorgeous. I could sit there all day. The bartenders are always very attentive, professional and friendly.

3.75 for gasparilla inn. Beautiful hotel that is well kept up. The doormen are very friendly and helpful. The one big negative is that the beach is not located near the inn, but rather across the street. Not only that but there is no beach access from the pool. When we asked, we were told the stairs got washed away with the hurricane? ( weird that they have not replaced them) so we were told to just JUMP off the sea wall to get to the ocean. The suggested we use the little side table to get back up to the pool area. You can hear people in the hall in the mornings and kids running down the hall ( if you plan on getting some morning rest this may not be the place for you) The golf course was gorgeous and probably our favorite part of our trip! We also had breakfast at the main in. Dining room - food was yummy but the staff were unfriendly and not attentive at all. Not one person passed by and asked how our food was or if we needed anything. - it was not busy at all- I thought the service would be much better.

What's not to love. Charming, tranquil and near the water. We stayed for two nights and were well taken care of my the staff who were always friendly and helpful. David especially remembered our names which made us feel very welcomed. The Picnic Basket served coffee, teas, drinks and pastries. Hands down the best cinnamon twist donuts I've ever eaten. The best. Beach club was amazing. The best virgin piña coladas at the bar. Love love love the Gasparilla inn and will be back. The perfect getaway in the off season.

The Gem of Boca Grande! For starters the location is breathtaking! To sit by the pool which overlooks the Gulf of Mexico is relaxing as it is beautiful! The Gasparilla Inn, offers a glimpse of a simpler time with its quaint, yet elegant, coastal decor. Villas are available to book in advance as well and offer an ideal option for additional privacy or perhaps if traveling with a young family. Ocean view rooms are so cozy, quiet and inviting, I didn't want to leave! Everything is sparkling clean too! Breakfast pastries were the absolute best I've ever had and I'm not a huge fan of sweets! I don't know if it were the porcelain cups or a special blend of coffee but even the coffee and tea blends were a nice compliment to our breakfast. I believe the kitchen closes at 10 a.m. for breakfast if special orders are desired, until reopening for lunch and of course dinner. Whether sitting outdoors or retreating back to your room, What a beautiful way to enjoy a morning meal! There are plenty of side activities to partake in and the Gulf of Mexico with it's white sand beach are just steps away. Downtown area is as if time stood still, reminiscent of a simpler time. Perfect location for filming a movie! Otherwise, several beaches, numerous golf courses, and other activities await in nearby Englewood and Venice, a short drive to the north. Dinner each time has been divine! Prepared to perfection! Some favorites I highly recommend are the Lobster Bisque (best I've ever had) to the Seared Tuna, Porcini Cod, and Swordfish while my husband loves the Snapper, Pork, or Veal Tenderloin. Side dishes were also delicious, especially the potatoes! Price points vary, so might want to view the day of your stay to avoid sticker shock should that be a concern for you. Fortunately, I live close enough to drive here on a more regular basis now. Downside, I don't necessarily need to stay as an overnight guest. Whether you are an overnight guest, enjoying a ferry excursion, or driving to Boca Grande for the day, definitely a place consider dinner. I have spent a great deal of time in Southern Florida, especially along the Gulf Coast. The Gasparilla Inn, ranks highest on service, cleanliness and location, location, location!

Two people- one bedside table; really? When asked, "do you have ice in the room?" the answer was "yes. We have a fridge." " Is there ice in the fridge?" "No" "is there a bottle opener in the room?" "No" Could you bring ice and a bottle opener please? "Of course" Only ice arrived and he went back for a bottle opener. You see where this is going, I'm sure. For example; Afternoon tea; Polystyrene cups, no English breakfast tea ( !), paper napkins for plates (I'm not making this up) and you make the whole thing yourself. Two cakes to choose from. Easily the worst expensive hotel in the world I have ever stayed in. Utterly complacent. However, I liked the area.

Wow. Can't say enough about how great this hotel is. We spent 4 days here and enjoyed everything about the stay. Our room was wonderful with comfortable bed spacious bathroom and nice seating. Turn down service was a nice treat. There are no ice machines but the staff brings ice up around 3pm for the room. The decor was very elegant and kept in mind the original 1913 era of the hotel. The staff was really nice and always had a smile. There is a beach pool area which was a short walk. Also there were tennis croquet and workout facility near the beach. Really great place for a relaxing vacation and we can't wait to return. The pictures will tell the story better than my writing.

For some reason people with money love to get screwed. For $900 a night they will stay in an old hotel and put up with substandard accommodations and enjoy it. We stayed at Gasparilla Inn, you must stay there, it's outstanding. NOT. ITS OLD, SMELLY AND OVERPRICED.Save your money.

We enjoyed a beautiful presentation of Caesar salad with anchovies which was very flavorful. This was followed by the pork chop with a nice demiglase with au gratin potatoes. This dish was just outstanding-the pork was very moist and succulent. Dessert included both the chocolate tart and the bread pudding-both outstanding. Highly recommend this restaurant and chef.

This place makes me very, very uncomfortable and sad and I will never come back again. It is true, as someone mentioned in a review that it feels like 1920. In these days there are only white costumers in an Hotel that looks like an old plantation building and 99% of the workers (mostly cleaning, serving food and opening doors) here are Black. The Hotel's slogan is "Florida as it was meant to be". This slogan is embarrassing and offensive and it should be changed if they don't mean what it seems to mean. I give to this place one star for the reasons above, otherwise everything else is great but I don't like what the Hotel seems to stand for and therefore this is not a place for me.

If you are fortunate enough to get an opportunity to experience The Gasparilla Inn & Club, you are already winning. It is almost a once-in-a-lifetime event. I have been very fortunate to have been to lunch at the Inn on a few occasions. Each time was as delightful as the last. I have always been by way of the Captiva Cruise. The food is always top-notch with great staff. I always look forward to my visits. If you are looking for real old Florida, this is it!

Was really looking forward to dinner here while on vacation in Boca Grande. One of the people in our party called the restaurant several weeks before we arrived asking if they would cook the fish we were hoping to catch that day. They said they would be happy to do so with no further discussion. So we spent the day fishing and brought our fish but we were refused service. The manager on duty said we had to fill out a request form and they needed 24-48 hours notice. Why on earth would I want to eat the fish I just caught 2 hrs ago 24-48 hrs later? There was literally only 2 other tables occupied. We asked to speak to the chef and we were refused. I can't imagine treating guests that way. So we walked out. We took our fish to Temptations 2 blocks away and Cathy at the front was happy to help us. The chef there prepared an amazing meal. It's a shame the chef at the Gasparilla Inn wouldn't even attempt it. And let's be clear - we weren't asking for this to be free. We knew we would be paying for this and that was not the issue. The pictures below are from the presentation performed by Temptations. Temptations was a much better choice. They were much more welcoming and better service.

I spent 3 nights here for a wedding in June and overall we had a pleasant stay. The front desk staff, golf cart drivers, and event staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was large and on the 1st floor which was convenient for wedding events. I had a few issues: our air conditioning unit was rattling constantly, the room above us was very loud we could hear them moving around, the fact that the hotel bar closes at 11pm. After the rehearsal dinner and the wedding, crowds of people wanted to get drinks but they were very strict about shutting down the bar at 11pm, BOOOOOO. There's literally no where else to drink or hang out after 11 nearby! Perhaps because it was the off-season but Boca Grande just seemed kinda quiet. It's also very strange the beach club is located a few blocks away, but the golf cart drivers were very accommodating and drove us back and forth. Also I wish they had coffee and snacks available inside the inn. The "Inn Bakery" was actually located a few blocks away and while it had great food it was just an inconvenience to have to walk in the super hot/humid weather to get a breakfast that wasn't the buffet. But overall I really enjoyed the food at the bridal luncheon, rehearsal dinner, the wedding itself, and the Pink Elephant. 5 stars for food!

For the bar: excellent drinks, beautiful decor. Delightfully and unapologetically Floridian. Wear your finest pastel polo.

Not a budget option. But a nice hotel. Some cool public rooms. The cottages across the road are nice too. Service is very accommodating. And there is a real, live concierge to help you with things to do. And you can rent a golf cart.

One of my favorite places to get away from it all.. This is my 10th visit and looking forward to the 11th soon..

This is such a quaint place! Reminds one of old Palm Beach. Beautiful & peaceful. Full of class.

This is a nice resort however a bit overpriced for what you get. We rented a cottage which had worn carpet and we were given the wrong keys. Walked in on someone. We checked in with two dogs and they had a bottle of water for dogs but none for us. Was surprised that the island is not "dog friendly". There was one restaurant that would accept dogs for lunch outside. The hotel doesn't offer anything for pets. The walls were not very sound proof with frosted glass panel door between two units. They had a tub in the room but no bath salts etc in room. Bed was comfortable and cottage was nicely decorated. We also rented a golf cart which wasn't needed but fun. The pool was beautiful with great gulf view. Was too early for pool service so wasn't able to see how good that was. All the staff very friendly. The restaurant was fantastic but closed on Monday's. The inn owned a bakery in town which also was fantastic. Still it was a great stay and we would return but we now know the short comings. I may even return for another great dinner. As a side note Scarpas in town also a great meal.

"Florida as it should be" i saw written throughout the inn. And wow, was this a fairytale. I was so charmed by the tropical decor and luxurious smells everywhere I went. With tons of seating options and sitting rooms, gathering to talk was easy and welcome with few distractions. There was something for everyone: a BEAUTIFUL pool and beach area, ping pong, corn hole, pool tables, charming bar areas that felt like speakeasys and more. It was family friendly and extremely bougie all at once. Slowing down was so easy here with all of the staff ready to help with absolutely anything. The rooms were cold and there were ceiling fans with beautiful showers and WOW they had L'Occitane bath products (talk about swanky)!! Everywhere I went felt luxurious. Everything we ate and drank on the island was wonderful. The bakery was delicious and flavorful. The whole place felt like a tropical oasis with the golf cart transportation and adorable yellow accents. I cannot wait to come back for my next tropical vacay!

A very special, one-of-a-kind resort. Difficult to get a reservation, but once you do....you might want to keep it to yourself. Wouldn't want to divulge the secret of this wonderful place.

You like bugs infesting your privacy? We had ANTS, I let the front desk know of the issue, they made a treatment which received minimum results. You like hot water to shave with? I informed the front desk as well of this issue. It took approximately 8 minutes to get water WARM not hot enough to shave with. You cannot tell me, they haven't had this issue before, it was just to obvious of a problem. You want the food you ordered off the menu? My wife has allergy issues and when she ordered her meal, she received a meal (not the one she ordered) that was safe from her allergy list. I would like to know how do you confuse fish from beef? We kept the meal because of the timing of the evening. I must say the food was excellent but the whole event must be rated as a whole. Prices of the Inn visit are five star pricing but NOT five star accommodations and service. It definitely is overrated and prices need to come way down or complete overhaul as well as management change. Upon checking out, I went over these same issues with whom I assumed was a manager, which said they would look into the issues and make a credit. I thought well, that's a step in the right direction. I never received a credit but I don't need their money and I would be willing to bet my review may either help or HURT their business! We loved the island and if we return we will be looking at staying elsewhere!

One of the historic inns of America, the first thing you notice about this refined and gentile hotel is that they really like yellow. In fact pale yellow is their signature color. At first you notice the Inn itself in the pale yellow then as you wander around the tiny town you notice a lot more. In addition to the Inn there are quite a few cottages stretched along several blocks all in the familiar yellow along with restaurants and even a more traditional motel. We stayed five nights in one of the 6-unit cottages directly across the street from the Inn in a king-sized suite. Cottage 41-6. Highlights: -our unit was quite large with a large parlor room equipped with a gas fireplace full-sized sofa, 2 easy chairs and a tv and plenty of floor space -great for relaxing. We also had a small porch sitting area with a microwave and mini fridge. -bedroom had a king bed with a posture-pedic style bed, very firm, and another TV. -Small bathroom featured high-end L'occitane products (very nice) but was cramped feeling -entire facility was impeccably maintained and spotlessly clean -service, while overly formal for my tastes, was also top notch from the folks at the front desk to the waiters to the bellmen opening up the door when you arrive. Opportunities: -soundproofing-remember this is as an older property. It appeared our cottage could be configured into two and three bedroom units by opening up interior (locked) doors that would make it great for a family. Unfortunately this also made it extremely easy to hear the phone calls and conversations of our neighbors -a/c and fan controls-each of our rooms had its own thermostat (nice) unfortunately they have limits-cannot take temperature below 68 F and, more importantly you cannot set the fan to run continuously. In our bedroom when the fan would kick on the rushing air was somewhat loud disturbing my wife's sleep all 5 days of our stay. Also the temperature would feel warm (even set at 68) then too cool after the rushing wind of the a/c had run. -pillow: for me the small firm feather pillows left me with a bit of a stiff neck-but I much prefer medium foam pillows as someone who sleeps on his back. All in all you can expect comfort and high end service at Gasparilla Inn. It's got a wonderful beach area just a couple blocks from the main Inn, a sea-side golf course and feels very secluded. A nice place to relax. You will feel like you are far from your normal life.

A wonderful hotel with beautiful decor and amenities, however, tonight as we were in BZ's (the tavern/pub), a member of our party came in wearing shorts and was told "don't get too comfortable, you can't wear shorts past six." While we totally respect that and understand, there is a much better way to approach telling us that, especially since we weren't aware. We confronted the bartender who seemed offended that we actually wanted to chat about it and he offered an "apology." We love this place but that was a very rude encounter.

My partner and I went to Gasparilla for a long weekend, and overall, I loved the beach location and the seclusion of the location, but didn't like the dining services. The best part about Gasparilla is definitely the access to the Beach Club, which is a short walk away. I was originally disappointed to find out that Gasparilla is located in the middle of an inlet and doesn't have direct beach access, but I got over that pretty quickly because it didn't matter as much. The Beach Club is pretty inclusive, no nickel and diming everyone for a chair or umbrella. The pool is nice, but I loved the ocean. The room we had was two twin beds pushed together to make a king. I booked this room two months before we showed up, so I was surprised that they have that little amount of king beds to only have twins left over. They really tried to stress at check-in that there's a Tempur-pedic across both beds and you really can't tell that it's two beds, but that is just plain false. You can obviously tell it's two beds. It gave the whole room a"cruise" feeling, since that's what they do in any random Carnival room. And because of the room set up, they didn't have a bedside table on the far side of the bed, which was very inconvenient. Overall, the room was fine, but the set up was off. It did have a good linens, but scratchy towels, which is disappointing considering most people are going to get sunburn after going to the beach. The grounds of Gasparilla were really nice. I really enjoyed the cozy and intimate bar (BV's, I believe), as well as all the backgammon tables that I definitely took advantage of. You feel like you're out of resort when you stay here, and basically the whole town is geared towards this resort or are private homes. There's basically no nightlife to speak of, and hotel bar closes at 11, so this is the place to unwind. I really did not like the breakfast service at Gasparilla. Both breakfasts we had here were subpar, and rather shocking considering that other parts of the hotel are very nice. The generic buffet that they had was short on options and even more short on availability, considering that half the items were run out of most of the time and you have to wait for eggs or bacon or what have you. The servers never showed up, and the last thing you want to deal with in the morning is having to get your own coffee from the free coffee stand outside the restaurant, which inevitably is what my partner did had to get. The cooked entrées were also subpar, with the hash a particular stand out in a bad way. Buffet is $19, which is laughable. And they kept saying "we're not used to it being so busy"...is this the first time the hotel has filled up?! Made no sense. Overall, I really liked Gasparilla. It's kind of a drive to get to know matter what airport you fly into, and but once you're there, the exclusivity and he didn't factor or charming. I recommend a room on the third floor, because there is no place with a "view," but at least you'll be high up.

This lovely Florida landmark hotel stands grandly on the beautiful barrier island of Punta Gorda, graciously welcoming all who come calling. The experience of staying here more closely resembles visiting friends or relatives rather than checking in at an impersonal business. There is an almost palpable pride exuded by every person I encountered here. They don't seem bothered or busy when you ask questions. This is true Southern hospitality. Doors are attentively opened, guests are warmly greeted by name, service is gracious and attentive. The grounds, guest rooms and restaurant are impeccably maintained. Everything seems to shine and be clean beyond belief. Considering the popularity of this historic resort and the number of events, weddings and groups it hosts, that alone is impressive. It is authentic and that means it may not be quite so soundproof as more modern lodges but that would not discourage me from returning again and again. There are separate, stand-alone cottages that would make staying here a bit more private for those who seek a little more peaceful experience. This is a perfect place to escape to whether for a romantic retreat, family vacation, golf getaway, eco-tourism trip or just to enjoy acclaimed spa treatments. There are plenty of excellent dining choices (no franchises to be found) so definitely be sure to bike, walk or hop aboard a golf cart. Everything is so compact you really don't need to drive to check out the various eating options available at any of the inn's on- or off-site dining spots or independent cafes found throughout this quaint destination. Loved it. Hated to leave it.

This is the third consecutive year I have stayed at the Gasparilla Inn. Unfortunately, this year will be my last visit. We come down for the golf and if you haven't played the course it is awesome. The last two years we booked a room and we got unlimited golf with it for an additional $100. This year we thought it was the same. Since, when we booked she said, "you'll be doing the golf package right", I said yes. Fast forward a few months. At check in, nothing was said about anything being any different than the previous years but we were in for a big surprise. After check in I drove over to the course and one of the employees drove up to my car and said "no carts today," I said, really? And he said yes really sarcastically. Ok, no big deal. We walked the wet course with walking carts and to be honest I actually enjoyed the round. There was literally no one on the course and we spent money on drink and food on the course and hit the 19th hole for some cocktails after our round. Now it was time to play another 18 holes since we thought we had unlimited golf. We played #1 and we coming up to #2 and someone said, "hey, what do you think you are doing. Come over here" I said, "yes, how can I help you." He literally acted like we were stealing food out of his kids mouth. He said we need to immediately come inside and pay for the $10 hand cart and that we would need to pay $150 for a replay. Really. I have worked in the golf industry for a long time and that is not how you treat a guest who ia spending over $1200 a day at your resort. Just like when I first got there and the employee almost gloated at the fact we had to walk. The correct response would be, "Im sorry sir but we cannot allow carts out today. They made us feel like we werent welcomed there. Which is completely different from prior years. It also felt like they werent the same entity anymore since front desk and pro shop were not remotely in the same page. After the golf I went to the front desk to sort out the details. They saId they pulled the call and she said the reservation agent never said anything about unlimited golf. The problem is that we work with the same reservation agent every year and I assumed if was the same. Why wouldnt she let us know it was different this year. Anyways, they let me out of staying the 2nd night after I told them I felt ripped off. The overall customer service experience was horrible this year, so much so I really don't see myself coming back.

Our favorite bar in Boca Grande is the Bar at the Gasparilla Inn. It is a great bar! There is plenty of seating at the bar & at the numerous seating areas in the room with very comfortable sofas & chairs. The air conditioning in the Inn is top notch. Their Expresso martinis were very popular with our group. One of our party was very fond of the mojitos. The bartender was very accommodating & made me a Green Flash that was delicious. The bartender during most of our stay was Todd. He is an excellent bartender. So at night if you are wanting a drink we recommend the Inn & not the Temp.

I took my wife here to celebrate her birthday. To say that the place is wonderful, friendly and accommodating is an understatement. We had a corner room (#328) that had a very comfortable king size bed. The bedroom and bathroom were clean. We enjoyed the inn's beach across the island. There were plenty of towels and the staff drilled holes for the umbrellas. Steve the beach bartender makes great daiquiris and rum runners. The concierge desk and staff are extremely helpful. They have a tour of the kitchen conducted by the executive chef, Seth, which is fabulous.

I booked a room by phone for December. I was sent a confirmation by email. I did not open the email as I had confirmation number from the phone call. At check-in I was informed that I had booked 2 nights instead of 1. Technically it was my fault for not opening the email. The hotel would not give me a refund, only offering me a free night before their season ended in the spring. I called to get my "free" night that I had paid for and was told with cancellation fee, taxes, resort fee, etc. I would still owe $172+ for the room. For a high end property this is a total rip off. I was completely ripped off. For this alone I would never recommend anyone ever staying here. The room is ok and I realize that it is over 100 years old, but I have stayed at many properties with better accommodations. The food is fairly good, not great. The really unsettling thing is the all black staff dressed head to toe in white. Let's just say that my wife, who is not white, was not fond of the blatant homage to a different time.

I'm a sucker for renovated historic hotels and the Gasparilla doesn't disappoint. Staying here is like stepping back in time to the roaring 1920's. I can imagine myself as a wealthy man of leisure escaping the frigid northeast for the winter. This is not a super luxury hotel by modern standards but rather an excellent example of old Floridian architecture coupled with superior service. The small town of Boca Grande has a handful of shops and restaurants but be prepared to slooooowwww down and shake off the compulsion to go go go which drove you to Florida for a vacation in the 1st place!

Bring good pants. I didn't and I was not allowed to eat dinner in the Dining Room. Not that I was too disappointed. I wouldn't mind trying it, but there is a great dining and drinking option in town which is a short, sweet, walk away. This is a classic old wooden hotel that has just received an excellent face lift. We had stayed here about 7 or 8 years ago and it was looking a little dowdy. The place is just shining now. You are transported back 70-80 years, when hotels closed for the season, as this one still does. We had a great suite, above the front entrance, with a huge shaded terrace that looked west to the sunset. The staff are all very nice and helpful. They have a beach club/spa/health club and tennis club a short walk away on the gulf and a golf course behind the hotel on the bay. We rented a boat at the hotels marina and took a ride to Cabbage Key, an island reachable only by boat that has a small marina, a restaurant and cabins for rent. Adjacent to Cabbage Key is another island, reachable only by boat, that is a park. It looked beautiful. We were there three days and never got in our car once. Gasparilla Inn is a relaxing paradise that we will be returning to more often than every eight years or so.

We highly recommend this hotel. Great service, amazing location. Staff goes above and beyond. We will be back many times and highly recommend! Coming back with our pups, so they can enjoy it as well.

I stayed in a cottage during a business meeting. First I was told the hotel was totally booked and I had to stay elsewhere. Later I was able to book a room in a cottage for more than our group rate. About a week beforehand I realized I had to change my booking. They completely refused to negotiate and took my $286 for the cancelled night, only offering me a credit. I live over five hours away. There is no possibility I will drive five hours each way to stay in this hotel for one night. Usually high end hotels will negotiate this sort of thing, especially when you are with a big group. Also, our room was two twin beds pushed together with some kind of lumpy foam thing on top. The room service personnel asked me to vacate my room on their schedule even though I was working. No coffee in the room. No view of the beach. I appreciate historic places, but usually there is impeccable service. I cannot say that was the case here. I will not stay here again and I am very disappointed, as I had looked forward to it.

First of all, the property is gorgeous. We had a lovely cottage, took advantage of the Covid special, but it was good the prices were slightly lower because as many reviews on Trip Advisor state, they really should lower the prices more because of the services not available during Covid and mostly due to their extensive renovations of the pool, spa area, and other amenities. The stay itself was nice, great employees and housekeeping, turn down service. Our one experience with their dining options was amazing--and super expensive! But, we loved it. However, the pre- and checkout and post-trip were a nightmare. Couldn't get any straight answers on how they'll deal with Covid and what would be open, masks required, etc. Never could find out which tours we could do and what was provided by concierge was incorrect, every bit that was sent was last year's info. Then, got a runaround about the spa services. Finally, when we left we had charges for taking care of some services and tips but the hotel "forgot" and told us they'd do another charge but we had a huge back and forth to ensure they charged us more (we wanted them to charge us more, we worked it out at the front desk before we left, and we sent multiple messages about it before this was finally fixed and those employees got their money three weeks after leaving) There were a few other items that we tried to get settled so we could enjoy the property more but even returning our keys after we left was a hassle. They apparently don't know their own mailing address, even by the top managers giving it to us via text. Lastly, they had all kinds of confusion renting us a golf cart and never did get that straighened out (and apparently they had trouble charging them now because the renovations are in the way of the building they usually use for charging), but lucky for us, all the activities including golf cart rental we did via other cart rental and services we found on our own, for on-island and private boat tours, dinners on other islands, etc. Just not the service you expect from such a foo foo property. We'll go back to the island but not stay here again.

A quaint resort set in a southern style. Unfortunately they make you pay gratuity, 13% for housekeeping services on rooms that are already over priced. What next, paying for clean dishes at the restaurant? They close at the end of June and the staff is ready to leave, since gratuity is included they have no reason to give anything extra and they don't. To bad.

I have not been to Gasparilla Inn and it looks like I never will. There is a tropical storm in the next few days and we decided not to go to Florida until the fall. But they are going to keep ALL of my money anyway. I am not sure why they need to keep my money. The four other hotels, the boat charter and captain, and the ride from the airport were much more accommodating, given the circumstances. Will be going to these hotels in fall but won't be going to Gasparilla Inn. Greg Cowell

We've stayed at the Gasparilla Inn during most holidays as well as during our wedding and never have been disappointed. The architecture is stunning, the rooms are well appointed, the lobby and adjoining sitting rooms are relaxed and classic, and the club is the best on the island. We always look forward to visiting.

We love everything about Gasparilla Inn. Second stay in the last 2 years for R&R with my BGF. The long time staff make it very special as do the repeat guests. Love the history, ambiance, decor. Wonderful b'fast in the Dining Room - lobster scrambled eggs, shrimp & stone ground cheese grits et al. The best shopping for gifts & clothing on the island - 2 terrific boutiques in the Inn. We've stayed in the cottages and the inn - love them both. Chilling out at the Beach Club, using the spa etc. Take the History Tour on Tue. Gasparilla Inn is more of a club than a public hotel. Hope it stays this way forever. Civilized!

Beautifully maintained. Old world refinement. Love staying here - just returned home from our fifth visit and we will be back!

Amazing atmosphere and charm. The food and service is good, but definitely lacks considering the price.

An amazing transformation into relaxation! The inn is terrific, homey comfortable beyond all expectations. Food at all outlets is creative, healthy, always fresh and artfully presented without being pretentious. Staff are extraordinary - friendly, warm, and they make you feel both comfortable and warm. Terrific facilities - beach, fitness center, spa, fishing, golf, etc.I look forward to my annual visit!

We had a terrific stay over the Labor Day weekend. The inn is closed for the off season (July - September) but the cottages are available for nightly rental. Lovely well maintained and spacious facilities.

We stayed here in November of 2015 for 2 nights and were quite disappointed. Our room smelled musty and moldy every time the air conditioner went on and the bathroom was small and cramped. The shower was excellent, however. I'm surprised that we were never asked about the quality of our stay after we left, considering the high cost of the rooms. The hotel has lovely public rooms but the rates are exorbitant for the accommodations.

The hotel is beautiful and immaculate. Great place to spend a few days golfing, enjoying the beach club and dining in the hotel and the restaurants in the little village. We are going back regularly now with friends.

I was shocked at the rudeness of the employee and what seemed to be a manager in the gift shop. They seemed annoyed we wanted to purchase anything. The rest of the staff at the front desk, front door etc were all extremely polite.

Stopped in the bar for drinks and the bartender (Dave) couldn't be more accommodating. We had our 11 year old son with us and asked if they might have checkers as they had backgammon. He looked around and couldn't find checkers, but did find Scrabble which he graciously set up for us. Dave was so polite and gracious. We will definitely go back as Dave and the rest of the staff truly know what being hospitable means!

Hats off to the staff! Food was excellent, hotel was like visiting a favorite old friend, totally relaxing holiday. Golf was very fun.

Our son's wedding was held at the beach club of this beautiful Inn. The whole weekend was magical. The staff and wedding planner were so kind, helpful and professional. The venue was gorgeous. There wasn't a thing I would have changed. Our guests felt well taken care of and just loved the facility and it's old world charm. I highly recommend this piece of florida heaven. I can't wait to go back and visit.
