The Gemalai Village

Room is big and takes a long time to cool down esp during the day. It’s not far from the beach and food but it can get very hot during the day so make sure you take your umbrella! There’s no block out curtains in room. It’s a small establishment and housekeeping is as what you need.. so be sure to ask. No issue with mosquitoes. Town is quite dead though so don’t expect so much…

Room Review: If you’re a light sleeper, this definitely isn’t the place for you as you can hear the traffic, dogs barking, people talking and, in the morning, the mosque call to prayer. The bed is the most uncomfortable I’ve ever laid on! I could feel the springs in my back. The pillows are also really hard. No sleep whatsoever! There were no mosquitos, but there were plenty of other insects and spiders, especially in the bathroom during the night. Rating: 1/5 Bathroom: Definitely needs a bit of a face light (See photos) Rating: 2/5 Service/Communication: They didn’t respond to messages I sent through Agoda. Rating: 1/5 Additional Comment: At night, it would definitely help if they added some lights. Considering all of the above, I don’t recommend you stay at The Gemalai Village.

A very beautiful environment, ideal for spending time in nature. Waking up in the morning to the sound of birds and the cool morning breeze is truly soothing to the mind. However, if you plan to stay here, it's essential to bring mosquito spray or cream, as the surrounding trees and paddy fields result in a mosquito problem. Due to its location by the roadside, there is significant noise from vehicles, which might disturb the sleep of some people. Renting a car or bike is highly recommended to make your stay more convenient.

I love this place. Surrounded by nature on a beautiful typical wooden house. Very beautiful for a great price! Only 10 minutes walk to the main beach and center.

Great place with such calm vibes, wakeup with the view of paddy fields and buffalo around you. Location is prime, nearby access to all the hotspots around Langkawi/Cenang

A nice place overall. We took two of the chairs from below up to sit on the balcony. The aircon worked well and the outdoor bathroom was novel. |It was amazing sitting on the balcony watching traffic and birds. The was no rice planted out while we were there unfortunately. |A couple of things to note. It’s not great sound proofing so the noise of the frogs at night can be loud for light sleepers. |If the wind is blowing the wrong way the smell off the paddies isn’t great. |Definitely glad we stayed a couple of nights though.

The hotel is generally ok, the first night we couldn’t sleep because alot of mosquitoes, the second day we noticed that our towels had stolen in the balcony, we asked the staff and they said maybe the dogs took them, Ha what a joke.. so please don’t trust the staff don’t put your money inside the room or your things in the balcony…
