Twelve Table Bar & Eatery Waitomo (The General Store)

This lovely café near the Glowworm Caves serves excellent breakfast and beautifully made coffee. I had the egg Benedict and beef pies. A super cosy stop that made the whole experience even better.

This is a great place for food, had breakfast with the family and everyone was impressed, poached eggs were lovely, banana waffles delicious and drinks well prepared and served, run by lovely staff, nice little shop as well, definitely recommend a visit if in Waitomo.

Highly not recomended. I got there by 16h15. When I got in I missed the kiwi hospitality feeling, just faces that looked annoyed by my presence. When I go to order a burger, the girl looked at the guy at the kitchen with an annoyed expression, but nobody said a thing and they took my order. I paid. I sat on a table to wait. 10 min later the waitress came to my table to tell me they could not make my hamburger anymore because the kitchen was closed. Strangely enough the "chef" was still there on the kitchen corner. What's my surprise when I see on the menu that the kitchen is open until 16h30, I was then on time, and they even kicked me out 5 min before the official closing. I would definitely not go back again if the personnel would be the same. Really disappointed!

We had such a wonderful experience at this café! Even though they were supposed to close soon, the staff kindly allowed my family to stay and wait inside until 7pm because they didn’t join the Waitomo Glowworm Cave tour. It was quite cold outside at that time, so we were really grateful for their warm hospitality. They even gave us extra plates so we could enjoy our own food comfortably after our tour. Their kindness and understanding truly went above and beyond normal service. Highly recommend this place for not just their food and drinks, but also their genuine care and friendliness. Thank you so much for making our evening so pleasant! ❤️

Over all a great place to stop. Nothing bad about it at all. The best bacon and egg pie I've ever had.

Convenient, tasty food in Waitomo Village. Open longer hours than the Hui Hui Cafe across the road.

20min wait and 15 small fries with a burger... Could do better.

So glad we stopped here for breakfast on the way to the Glow Worm Caves! The service was so friendly, there was plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, along with take away and full menu breakfast options! We had a breakfast croissant and the Big Brekkie plate along with some iced mochas! All was delicious. Plus you can buy some snacks, drinks, and souvenirs on your way out! The servers also kept bringing out delicious looking pastries like scones and muffins! Everything was nice, clean and well-kept! If you need some food before your day starts, start here!

What a little nice find in Waitomo! Was on my way to i site info center to find info on farm and came across this place w nice patio area w tables and chairs! Basking in nice sunlight on a beautiful weather while travel partner enjoys her caving experience that I was too chicken to try out! I had their lasagna and salad. Lasagna was delicious! Not too fattening taste nor salty but just right. I'm realizing New Zealanders eat much healthier than Americans. Everything in NZ tastes lighter and less sodium.

Beers, pies, sandwiches, fries, pizzas...This is a good spot to stop between cave tours. The guy who runs this place is a sweetheart - I would come back solely to see him again! He was so sweet, and just poured us tasters of what was on tap without us asking to help us make our decisions. We ordered some kumara fries and aioli, and a couple pints, and took advantage of the free wifi to catch up on the goings on back home. This IS a general store though - so if you need to pick up some baked beans, chocolate, or cleaning products - they've got ya covered too! Store is complete with magazines, books, checkers, chess and dominoes. Have fun!

This review is for the cafe, not the small retail area Fairly standard lunch fare here- burgers, sandwiches, salads etc. I had the fish & chips, and unusually the fish was not fried but grilled. The food is fine, but nothing special. Overall, a decent stop if you're in the area but not worth going out of your way for. ~3.75 stars.

Was last here ~3 years ago and now not the same ambiance. Piano and some of the sofas gone, and bit more austere. Service not unfriendly, just kinda indifferent. Ps: wifi not reliable :(

Great food and nice place to hang-out for a while. They advertise wifi, but do not depend on it. They didn't care that their password was not working.
