The George & Dragon hotel | Buckinghamshire | England | Smith Hotels

"If you row your boat gently down the River Thames to Marlow, merriment comes in the form of boutique bolthole The George & Dragon. The town’s rowing heritage is rich, but you can also dip your toe into high-street mooches, hikes in the Chiltern Hills and river-path rambles. And with its mod-country interiors, refined seasonal dining and courtyard terrace, life is but a dream at this ravishing pub with rooms." - Mr & Mrs Smith

Came here for my one year anniversary and was thoroughly impressed! The staff were all friendly and attentive and the service was top notch. The room was lovely, clean and nicely decorated. The bed was really comfortable! The food in the pub is also very high quality and delicious! (also very reasonably priced) Thank you so much to the team at the George and Dragon inn for making our stay so special.

Booked for an overnight stay, dinner and breakfast the following morning. Overall great experience with stunning Rome which was only a snug but perfect for us. The standard of the accommodation, bar and restaurant was of a very high quality and small touch’s like petite-four on the room much appreciated. |Dinner was very nice and service was smooth. Typical Raymond Blanc menu but very nice al the same. |Great night sleep and wonderful shower. ||Breakfast where it all went wrong ! Wife ask for scrambled egg and for poached, my full English consisted of cold mushrooms, uncooked black pudding, the bacon was so burnt is was boarding on Carcinogenic and the Bake beans were also cold. Due not seeing any staff following the service of the food we could not complain. No offer of orange juice, toast or a top up of coffee were an option due to no member of staff. Were returned to are room and left about half and later at which point out breakfast table still had not been cleared. ||The whole experience was good just breakfast left us feeling at little flat.

We have been here many times with our very well behaved Labrador Jasper. We just cannot recommend this lovely place enough. The staff are just brilliant and I particularly call out Oana who served us with such personal and speedy service. The food again was exceptional (thankyou chefs!!) and given we are regulates I know consistency can be challenging but yet again The George & Dragon pulled it off!|A delightful meal, calming and lovely atmosphere (given it’s the Xmas crazy time!!)|Jasper was welcomed with treats so you definitely got his vote!!|THANKS TO THE AMAZING TEAM HERE|BACK SOON !|Deb, Kev & Jasper x

Just tried the pub and restaurant for dinner with some friends. It's quite busy so I suggest making a reservation before especially if you're a party of 4 or more. The ambiance is lovely and very cosy! The staff was nice and professional too. Food was good especially for the savouries because the desserts were not that great unfortunately. My sticky pudding was overcooked and bit dry. However the mussels and fried were very good.

Today I ate literally the tastiest vegan meal I’ve ever eaten. All of us loved what we ate but as someone who loves to cook and is vegan so often eating out is disappointing. Over the moon to find a restaurant in marlow with such high quality options, clearly made by someone who is passionate about food too. It could not be better located without be on the river - it’s right by the bridge - and to top it off, the service was excellent. Thank you Jess and Ben for looking after us this evening! Both were so welcoming and helpful and it was a treat to be served by them. So happy we booked for two more birthdays in December. Loved how each option was a bit different but consistently delicious! Best dish; truffle arancini (oh my goodness wowee!) but the cassoulet was also delicious with all the components together - such an exciting meal! I did not stay at the hotel but ate its food and could not recommend highly enough!

Warm welcome and very well appointed room, with plenty of fluffy white towels and dressing gown/slippers. Our dinner (my birthday) was really very good where our waiter Daniel, obviously had been well trained and very keen to serve us. He made us feel valued as customers and nothing was too much trouble. My only complaint is the ridiculousness of a couple of waitresses laying and uncaring tables around us - added to one lady literally moving tea cups and saucers about in a cupboard one one side to the other. A complete waste of time and very noisy banging whilst we had our meal.

We went for Sunday roast today with friends and had really lovely food. There were lots of friendly waiting staff, quick service. Loved the bottomless Sunday roast, the roast potatoes were lovely and we just kept ordering more! Delicious desserts too. Will definitely be back as was a really lovely atmosphere and great value for money!

Fantastic food!! Roast dinner with unlimited roasties, yorkshires & gravy, £6 starters and deserts when added. The soufflées are incredible, up there with the best we’ve eaten anywhere, fluffy and light. Cheese to start, the most delicious pistachio soufflé for dessert - this is a Must try! Great refurb and atmosphere, great menu, friendly. Was very busy, so food service was a bit slow, otherwise excellent, would recommend.

Yelp
Diabolical... Booked in for Christmas dinner , they had clearly overbooked . Told on arrival hour and a half wait for a table . We left along with quite a few other people, still waiting for refund . Not one apology from staff for ruining our Christmas. Avoid at all costs

Yelp
Poor food and even worse service makes the restaurant portion of this establishment a weak dining choice.

Yelp
Good service, many choices of beers and ales. Average pub with outside seating, although on the main road. Nice place to sit down and view the church with that deserved pint.

Yelp
I feared the worse when I saw the generic looking menus but it was unfounded. I had a very nice seafood linguine (a bit of rocket on top was a nice touch) and the gammon steak. Very well priced as well.

Yelp
The George and Dragon in Marlow has been refurbished and re-opened last summer. It is now attached to the new Premier Inn. I have been there on two occasions for Lunch and each time I have had a fairly well priced meal. First time a had the roast chicken and my friend had a curry. And the second time we all had the burgers (which were about £6.95 I think and came with 2 toppings from a choice of things like cheese, mushrooms, guacamole). The quality probably isn't amazing, but it is really quite good value for money. The staff were friendly and polite.
