"There’s just nothing like an old pub, especially one tucked under the leafy arms of a charming, tree-lined street. This particular Ginger Man is the original of the beloved Texas chain, a deliciously divey watering hole with dozens of beers on draft and rows of long-planked wood tables on its cozy patio. Hit the jukebox, toss some darts and explore a pint of something new in this quintessential beer-lover’s bliss." - Principle

"DFW has plenty of trendy clubs to see and be seen. The Ginger Man isn’t one of them. This laid-back, English-style pub is tucked inside a two-story house and is a break from the Uptown norm. Notable for having the area’s largest craft beer selection, The Ginger Man is a neighborhood spot that warmly welcomes strangers. Once you’re filled up, there are plenty of places to enjoy your pint — inside playing darts, on the front porch, in the backyard beer garden, or in the cozy upstairs library lounge." - MATADOR_NETWORK

Have stopped here a couple of times for an appetizer and drinks. The service hasn’t been the best but we love the area and the outdoor sitting. It’s a hit and miss with the parking but overall a good stop to freshen up with a good cold beer. First time trying their Half & Half 👌 I do recommend this place

Google
They have a rather large beer selection and food was amazing! They also have craft root beer on draft that was really good! We ordered the Chips and Queso and Shrimp Stuffed Jalapeno Poppers to start. Both very flavorful. Then someone ordered the Strawberry Salad and we had 3 orders of Fish and Chips. I recommended it to 3 other people on our team! Would go back for seconds!!!

Came here for a quick sip to cool down from the Texas heat. Really enjoyed the hospitality and the bartender was great with suggestions on activities around the area. Will be coming back again when we visit Dallas. Highly reccomend!

We visited on a Saturday afternoon, and there was a nice crowd there enjoying the patio. The food was good, although the portions were on the smaller side. The servers were attentive. While we only tried the cidars, they offered a wide variety of beer.

Google
The burger was great. The jalapeños where 🔥 Sahara did an amazing job. Defently recommend 100%

Ginger Man is a great place to have beer and chill out your day with your friends and colleagues. THE GINGER MAN is located at Las colinas and has a beautiful location. It has a beautiful park. In front and outside, sitting with lighting makes it more beautiful. They have both inside and outside sittings and with bar top sitting even. They have great choice of fresh tap beers. Also, light bites options are so great even. I have been with my friends and enjoyed Fresh beer food and service. Staff was friendly and courteous. Must try to visit if you are a great fan of beer and chill out place. Best to visit the place is after 5pm.

The food was great, the service was good. We think our waitress was relatively new because she didn’t know what some items were but she was very kind and sweet.

Google
Smallish tavern with a good selection of brews on hand. Friendly, safe, airy, accessible. Above average grub. A nice place for a quiet pint. Moved from a larger location by the water to a noisier, more visible local a couple of years ago. I say check it out

Yelp
Great beer selection and appropriate portions and prices! We sat outside, as Yankees, it was a beautiful summer evening, watch out for cig smoke, yuck! Server suggested chicken cranberry sandwich, yes!! St Arnold, pray for us

Yelp
*REVIEW BASED SOLEY ON SERVICE The place wasn't overly busy, so not sure what the lack of service was about. We walked up to dine in and the first thing the lady at the restaurant said was, "you can't bring that in here!" I asked what she was talking about, because I didn't have anything. Her response was, "the coffee. You can't have any outside drinks. She will have to drink it on the side walk or something." *in response to the drink my daughter had. My daughter went to the side walk and I stood there still waiting to be acknowledged and asked, "how many?" Needless to say, that time never came and I eventually asked, "do you seat yourself here or something?" After being told yes, we found a table and sat down. Someone eventually brought menus to the table...again with a very lackluster attitude to be helpful. It was at that point I just decided it was in the best interest of all of us to leave! It would have been nice to be greeted first and then mention the coffee. It also would have been nice to mention that we needed to seat ourselves verses leaving us there looking silly! Hopefully this level of service improves!

Audra H.

Yelp
I feel bad for waiting so long to review, but here it is... We were in Dallas for a convention and 17 to 18 of us ladies decided to descend upon brunch with zero warning. We were immediately seated and served quickly as though we were a small group. I hadn't heard of this place and I'm picky. I mean, really picky. I had the pretzel with queso and mustard dipping sauces. I also have a few mimosas. One member of our group had dessert first and thought it was Devine! I found out later that there's one near me, too & I'll have to brunch there asap!

Joshua P.

Yelp
The reviews are pretty accurate, overall and pretty good place to go. Cool, eclectic bar, setting, with some cool memorabilia hanging around. Other than that, just expect pretty good food, not great but good... we had a few things, and none of which I would recommend. Probably a non-repeat place for me as there's so many good eateries in the area! and on top of that, if you were using frozen fries, please make sure that they are cooked all the way through and not soggy sloppy fries...

Elellta T.

Yelp
They used to have some delicious meals like the jam burger and the pesto flat bread but for some reason ever since they moved to their new location all the good stuff has been removed from their menu. Service is just ok, so is the food except for very select items. I'd recommend this place of your like beer and enjoy trying out new selections. It's also dog friendly so that's a plus if you want to bring your pup.

Katie G.

Yelp
The patio area was nice and you could bring your dog. They provided water bowls and some treats. The food was good for a bar. The service was not that great. They were not that busy and should have been more attentive. It was hot so I get they didn't want to come outside. When they did it was as if we were bothering them. It took a really long time for a flat bread and charcuterie board. One beer was cold and the other was hot. Never got my water. We I recommend probably not there are other place close by.

Jamie T.

Yelp
A great selection of stouts and other UK originals awaits you here! Ambiance is loud so you may want to make sure you bring your hearing aids if need be. Service was pretty good!

Hector B.

Yelp
Hooray to beer! This place was great. The beer menu was a vacation of flavor opportunities. I only had 2, but just reviewing it was a blast. Our waiter was on it, and super cool. He made sure we were taken care of! Thanks! It was a smaller place, but the patio made up for that! It's totally worth a visit.

Yelp
The Ginger Man offers a diverse selection of craft beers. With its inviting ambiance and extensive beer menu, it's a popular spot for beer enthusiasts and foodies alike. The gastropub's well-curated beer list features a wide range of local and international brews, allowing patrons to explore different styles and flavors. The menu creatively pairs delicious dishes with the various beers, enhancing the overall dining experience. The friendly staff and cozy atmosphere make The Ginger Man a great place to unwind and enjoy a satisfying meal alongside a refreshing pint.

Lizzie G.

Yelp
The food is okay but the beer and service is impeccable. The nicest staff that is always so helpful when things go awry. Thank you guys for your amazing attention to customer experience, even in scenarios out of your control!!

Yelp
The is a cool place to get late night food with a cool vibe and great service. We celebrated a friend's birthday here which was a first time for many of us. I think we found another late night hangout!

Rorry P.

Yelp
Awesome beer selection and great service on a fantastic corner patio. Delicious apps to go along with it

Darrin H.

Yelp
Just came in for the beers. But the wings smelled really good. Toasting it up with some "good guys" lol but this is classic German Oktoberfest

Yelp
So I visited this place yesterday after a very long time . The Location is now moved in the same area to a very undesirable different location. Service was mediocre as well . Menu had been changed to have only 3 entries and rest are snacks I am very much disappointed with overall presentation and service. Good luck !!!!!

Yelp
Walking distance from the local SUP. Trying the Old Fashioned: Buffalo trace bourbon with aromatic & orange bitters, simple, toschi cherry & an orange peel. Service was friendly.

Tikku G.

Yelp
We were walking in the Mandalay Canal and decided to stop here for lunch with my family. Had some subpar service: took a bit just to get water, food took ~45 minutes to come out for a party of 7 (even though it was just us and 2 other tables), had to ask for the check after some time, etc. Our waitress was pleasant but just seemed disorganized. Most of the food items were okay but nothing to write home about. The buffalo chicken sliders were not spicy at all. They were just some breaded chicken tenders tossed in some slider buns. They had no heat to them so wouldn't recommend this dish. It was the same deal with the spicy chicken sandwich. I guess they say it has 'crispy spiced chicken loins' but I think a breaded chicken breast coated in hot sauce would be a better option. The one bright part of the meal was the ultimate bacon jam burger. This was cooked to perfection and the bacon jam in it elevated the texture and mouthfeel of the sandwich. I'd certainly get this again. Might or might not come back!

Yelp
Had an amazing time, delicious drinks and good food. Impeccable service as well. The Lavender 75 is delicious!

Yelp
Since I have actually gone to the original Ginger Man, close to Rice University in the late 1980s-early to mid-1990s, I have loved the concept of an English pub and its ambiance for entertainment and in all facets. That original location in Rice Village was a frequent meeting place for me and my friends during my graduate school education at the other major university in town, The University of Houston, where I earned my MBA and Ph.D. in December 1992. From there, I spun the globe, and pointed to the Southern Hemisphere, hoping to land in Australia for my first academic post teaching management and organizational behavior, but wasn't very accurate, landing instead on South Island of New Zealand, and an agricultural university called Lincoln University, in the province of Canterbury, with the magnificent Alps mountains in the distance. I don't think I did too badly and worked for two and a half years till Meningoccemia took hold of my healthy body, and decimated me, and confined me to a wheelchair for life. Doctors in Godzone saved my life, though, so I am free to enjoy a libation now and again with a mate or two, and the Ginger Man offers a great atmosphere and vibe to enjoy all the details of the visit Do yourself a favor and see what the experience is all about + read Dunleavy's modest, bawdiness in the original book of the same name before you visit. Cheers, Mark C. Fearing, Ph.D.

Yelp
Hubby and I decided to try this place for St. Patrick's Day. They actually have a decent patio area on Lake Carolyn. To be honest service was very bad, the only nice server was Matthew. He apologized for the delay for the drinks and food. It literally took them a good 20 minutes just to take our drink order. Mind you Matthew was a sweetheart and said they got a big rush. One woman server was straight up rude to Hubby when he asked for silverware when she delivered our food. - Heineken - Moscow Mule - Pesto Pasta with Blackened Chicken - Strawberry Pecan Salad with Chicken The salad was decent however the only thing that WOWED us was that Moscow Mule, it was absolutely refreshing and delicious!

Cher W.

Yelp
Visiting from New York, and on a lovely Saturday evening, sat down outside for drinks and appetizer. The drinks took over 15 min to arrive - after we finished the food.

Krystal M.

Yelp
Everything about this place is perfectly average. Food, views, service, nothing to write home about. Chicken and waffle universally seemed the most visually appealing dish and my friend who ate it loved it, but everyone else mildly enjoyed their food. I had the pesto blt and it was fine but certainly not memorable. Parking was a hassle (avoid the garage at all costs) and there is hardly any view of the lake. My husband got a burger and didn't receive the mayo he asked for until after he finished the burger - oh well. The only remarkable thing about this place is the extensive drink menu - so much they have to do the beer section digitally. All in all I had a fine visit but I won't be back.

Nes A.

Yelp
I come here often for HH. Today, I finally decided to go for brunch. The views if you sit outside is nice and today was warm and sunny. I had the migas skillet for $10 and it came with a side of fruit cup. It was good! My friend had a Pesto Chicken sandwhich and she liked it. I ordered a moscow mule but it was watery no alcohol. I think I prefer to go here during weekdays after work. Giving 4 stars since was server was nice and accommodated every request. If you are allergic to dogs, do not sit on the patio. There are a lot of people walking around and sitting on the patio with their dogs.

Sue K.

Yelp
Some street parking available, but you do have to walk a bit. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Some staff wore masks. There is a bar area and more seating area available. Overall very nice vibe inside. Feels cozy and relaxing that you want to unwind and enjoy a drink or two here. We had a mixed drink each and then a beer. Their beer list is quite expansive, if you feel overwhelmed like I did, the server was very informative and recommended some delicious choices! Tacos: a hint of spicy, all the ingredients tasted really fresh. Resets your palette while drinking. Sliders: perfect size to share and burger was juicy. Definitely good beer food. Would love to go back...really like the vibe inside and service was great. Too bad we went really close to closing time

Yelp
It still amazes me how Irving has grown in 10 years. From local dives on the way to the airport to cozy riverside walks with loved ones, the DFW metroplex never disappoints. I attended my first in-person mixer last year at The Ginger Man, which was able to house all of us effortlessly. Happy hours are best spent as the sunsets in right by the water, preferably making new friends in tow.

Silvia C.

Yelp
Service and food were both really good, enjoyed the atmosphere as well. Will definitely be back. I had the French Dip my husband had the burger.

Dona M.

Yelp
We came here for dinner and ordered flatbread! It was frozen food at its worst! It tastes worse than something you'd buy at Aldi! I will never eat here again! They took it and would t refund us! They made us pay for the meal when we only took one bite out of it! Manager was extremely unprofessional and rude! Go to Cork and Pig!

J G.

Yelp
It's 106 today, the doors are open and I can't keep the flys off my beer. I'm hot and I'm continually swatting away flys. It's baffling that the owners don't have enough common sense to close the doors, keep the place cool and the insects outside.

Johnny B.

Yelp
The spinach and artichoke dip was bad. Very runny and had zero flavor. Drinks were cold and people were awesome. Just not the dip.

Samantha D.

Yelp
Marissa and Jason are amazing. I come back just for them. Top notch service and the food is spectacular. Nowhere else in the metroplex can I find such delicious sandwiches and bratwurst, finally! So many taps and a local neighborhood vibe.

Brian S.

Yelp
I came here to drink so not going to be able to provide you with my normal food demolisher perspective. The service here is always friendly and a great place where they won't forget your name. It's kinda an airport version of what used to be an uptown Dallas masterpiece. The ambiance in uptown was an old Dallas house, lots of beer, 2 star food, and friendly people everywhere. Drink with your friends and have a good time don't take the food seriously and it won't disappoint. RIP Gingerman uptown glad there is still some of that spirit alive in this little nook.

Kurt V.

Yelp
This place was the total package! Great outdoor very socially distanced seating, amazing service and great food! The view of the canals and lakes makes for a pleasant surrounding. We were given our choice of seats and chose one in the sun overlooking the fountains in the canals. We were warmly greeted by our server, who offered paper or downloadable menus to us. I chose the Shrimp Poboy. The Shrimp Poboy was delicious! It was on a nice fresh French Bread and came with lettuce, tomatoes, and a flavored mayo with a side of fries. Everything was spot on!

Julie W.

Yelp
Late night Wednesday visit with one of my local friends. Food portions were generous (bar bites), service was quick, polite, and didn't pressure is even though it was close to closing (and we hurried out to be equally polite!). It's a lovely spot, especially outdoors by the water.

Linda L.

Yelp
I was in the area and was not disappointed to stop by Th Ginger Man. They had an extensive beer selection. I went for the Belgium Flight. The bartender was very informative/interesting letting me know that my fav beer from the flight-Chimay was made by monks, they are a non profit Trappist brewery that gives back to the community... plus it was delicious! Tuesday nights they have trivia, and I'm told the fish and chips are amazing. It was a great pub!

Scarlett D.

Yelp
We go here for a decent Reuben sandwich which is surprisingly difficult to find in the DFW area. The corned beef is sliced thin, generous without being too much. The bread, marbled rye and grilled. Sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and dressing all included. Yay! The potatoes are cross cut and fried, served with a spicy ketchup. Pickle spear is not the best. Eaten with a beer or root beer. Satisfying.

Monika J.

Yelp
Went here for brunch with my friend and really enjoyed it. We sat outside by the water and enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere. The food was good but I wasn't full after my waffle and fruit. I should've gotten the sandwich like my friend did. She thoroughly enjoyed it though. The prices were decent and the cocktails were only 4 dollars. I took off a star for not being full and the selection of cocktails. I would come here again so I can try more of the menu.

Richard H.

Yelp
Great pub experience and fun events planned. The location on the lake near other restaurants is great for an evening out.

Caroline G.

Yelp
Went here for brunch with friends and we had a nice time! The restaurant had some great outdoor seating in the shade and the waitress was great! Drinks all around were good as was the food. The menu items were anything "special" but no complaints.

Deja V.

Yelp
After dinner we came over here for a few drinks outside on patio overlooking the water. Nice scenery and good drinks. Quiet on a Thursday night but very relaxing atmosphere to enjoy with friends. We had a few margaritas and Moscow mule which was very well mixed. The server was great to us also.

Devika G.

Yelp
Had a pretty bad experience here ~ went in on a Sunday afternoon when the weather was nice so a lot of people outside but not a single customer inside. When we walked in, there were 3 workers sitting/standing inside that made eye contact with us multiple times and just looked straight through us. After waiting for about 20 minutes right by the host stand, we decided to leave. Worst service I've experienced in a while.

Sienna B.

Yelp
This place had a perfect mimosa, and a simple yet amazing salad. Overall the experience here was a good one. Service was good and the Best part of this place - the outside seating area.

Trinh T.

Yelp
The Ginger Man is a gastro pup in Irving's Water Street development that has an incredible array of beers to choose from. Located right on the Lake Carolyn, this spot has an amazing atmosphere and beer selection that combines to form an incredible experience. My Overall Rating - 4 Stars (Atmosphere, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Full Disclosure - I'm going to focus mainly on the atmosphere for The Ginger Man. They have an incredible design. The gastro pub has doors that open and let the outside in. It sits right on the lake in Water Street, which is a new development in Irving with plenty of outside walking. Grab a seat outside and proceed to enjoy a great beer selection, a bar friendly menu, and people watching. I would visit The Ginger Man just for its atmosphere. 1 Star. Service - This was the only part of our visit that wasn't great. Honestly, our server wasn't very friendly and seem annoyed that our party of 6 was indecisive. With a large menu of beers, it takes time to put in your order. We tried to be overly nice to see if the service would improve but unfortunately it did not. No Stars. Food - I'll be honest. The food is typical bar food. My friends ordered the burgers and po boys, but I only ate the charcuterie platter. But you're not here for food, you're here for the incredible menu option of beers. Tap, draft, bottle, they have it. Everyone has different tastes, but chances are your favorite beer is on the menu. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. This is one of the best atmospheres in Irving. If you want to enjoy a nice beer in a amazing atmosphere, check out The Ginger Man. I will be back. 1 Star. My Yelp Rating Scale (Sum of all parts): 1 Star - Atmosphere - Is it a cool dive? Perhaps an upscale place? No matter the type, atmosphere plays a big part and I'll give a star if I like it or thinks it has great charm. 1 Star - Service - You can have a great meal with bad service. But that's also what can make a five star joint drop to four. It's important to the dining experience that service is great and on point. 2 Stars - Food - I'll award up to two stars for the food, since this is the main reason we dine out. Sometimes the extra star is given for value, but it's really all about the food. 1 Star - Will I come back? - If I know for a fact I'll return, I'll give this a star. A place has to make an impression for me to return. Each Category can be given up to 1 star except food (2 stars) because I consider all these categories important to the overall dining experience. I will sum them up to provide my final Yelp score.

Kevin B.

Yelp
The Ginger Man is a nice hole in the wall pub that has a wide variety of craft beers and food items. The atmosphere is welcoming and the employees are friendly!! The last time that I was there I got service from a employee by the name of Joetta, who was fantastic!! She kept my drinks full and had a lively personality as well!! Highly Recommended!

Dana N.

Yelp
Great selection of beers and great service. Joetta was the best. She's attentive and made great recommendations. My favorite thing on the menu is the pesto pasta and the wings! Love going here with friends for a fun evening out.

Lauren J.

Yelp
Joetta is amazing! I'm excited to come back when we visit next. The food was excellent and the craft beers were exactly what I was looking for.

Melody T.

Yelp
Located right on the corner of the lake it's location is perfect! Amazing patio area to sit outside and enjoy the view while you eat!!! Tons of beers to choice from and an awesome menu selection! I went with the burger which was made to perfection! I asked for hot fries and they sure came out sizzling! I for will be back!!! Loved it!!

Annie N.

Yelp
Our friend got a beer and wanted us to join him. We just got coffee because it was cold. We want to sit on the patio and get a snack while he had his beer but management denied us. The patio was empty and so was the bar so what was the harm in letting us sit while ordering food from Gingerman can still having our coffee? I guess they don't want to stay in business.

Moses W.

Yelp
I loved everything about this place. The people were so friendly to me, I came in and was very nervous because it was my very first time going into a pub alone without my husband or a friend. I instantly fell in love with the ambiance! The scenery was breathtaking, I could have sat there for hours. I was visiting from Las Vegas on a work trip. I came very under dressed and because the wind picked up my hair was such a mess lol I thought I would be judged because it's a very nice upscale place. I was treated very respectfully and I felt welcomed. I couldn't stop raving about this place so much that my husband and I came home and booked a trip at the hotel across the street. Can not wait to show him my new "spot!" Thank you all so very much for the love everyone you MUST try!!!

Unique G.

Yelp
Last night was my first time eating here, it reminds me of a Pub like restaurant that I frequently use to eat at back home in Okc. The area that it is in is really beautiful and lively. There are a lot of other restaurants near by and and ice cream place next door. It is right next to the water, which I'm sure is a great view and experience during spring or summer. I ordered the Moscow mule, that I very much enjoyed. We wanted to order the stuffed jalapeños but they were out, which just means I'll have to go back to try them lol. I ordered the Buffalo chicken sliders, they were so cute and delicious, there was a sauce that came on it that I was not a big fan of but I also added the spicy ranch on top so it all balanced out. For dessert my friend and I shared the brownie with vanilla ice cream, definitely cute my sweet tooth! Our waitress was attentive and checked on us ever so often. All other staff seemed nice, the placed was more packed than I expected but the vibes and environment where chill and relaxing so I understood why. They have a happy hour that I can't wait to try out, they have a lot of beer, wine and drink options on the menu.
