Eating out with children who have severe allergies can be incredibly stressful—with hits and misses. But The Glenelg Public House at Mermaid Beach turned that into a completely carefree experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff and kitchen team made it effortless to ensure it was normalised and handled with care and professionalism. Their attention to allergy protocols was outstanding, and it gave us the rare gift of relaxing and truly enjoying our magnificent meal. The food was exceptional—fresh, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. The service was warm, attentive, and genuinely thoughtful. It’s clear this team takes pride in what they do, and it shows in every interaction. A huge thank you to everyone! You’ve earned our trust and our loyalty—we’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town!

Incredible T-bone steak. Up there with the best steaks I’ve ever eaten. Perfectly cooked, perfect crust, medium rare all the way through pair with an unbelievable pepper and marrow sauce. Wow. Fantastic service, very attentive and friendly. Highly recommend

We arrived on time but our table wasn’t ready. This was no issue at all I was happy to wait, they sat us up at the bar and gave us a free drink or 2 while we waited which I thought was a lovely gesture. The area our table was in was a tad too dark and a bit loud with it being so busy but that’s normal for going out on Friday at peak dinner time. Our server was amazing , the service was really great. She even fixed our table so it wasn’t wobbly. As soon as my drink was empty they were there ready to top it back up. I had the bone marrow which was to die for. Absolutely loved that. Also had the Wagau which was cooked to perfection and the red currant jus was delicious. The carrots as a side there was plenty and had a beautiful pistachio sauce. Really enjoyed my time , great service , and great food!

The Glenelg delivered some of the best food I've had in a while. The bone marrow was rich, flavourful and perfectly done as well as the steak and greens. Unfortunately the service didnt quite match the quality of the food. We had to wait around a bit and it wasn't busy when we there, just a general lack of attentiveness. Still the food alone makes it worth the visit.

My new fav restaurant on the GC. Delicious food, great service and chill ambience. All staff were delightful and so accomodating to my 2 sausage dogs even bringing them chopped prime rib. Steaks and sides were perfection. Staff could not do enough and quickly with a smile. Thanks for a perfect evening.

We came for lunch on a Sunday for my husbands birthday. Firstly, the restaurant was not quite what I expected, it is smaller than I thought it would be, arriving to an outdoor area that is open to the footpath, road (GC highway), car park and walkway to other shops- it's not an intimate or quite space by any means, still comfortable but very open. The inside part is decorated beautifully but a little cramped which is why we decided to sit outside. It seemed like a good idea until the light rail construction started concrete grinding right next to the restaurant - this is by no means their fault, this cannot be helped. Service was excellent, we were served straight away with menus and water and took our drink order, we ordered our meals shortly after that. The bone marrow entree is amazing, very rich and decadent, enough for all 3 of us to share. For mains we had the iron share steak and my husband ordered the QLD rib fillet. Bother were amazing, beautifully cooked to our requests, top quality cuts. The waitress advised the side chips that come with the share steak were coming shortly but they never arrived, when we pointed this out at the end of the meal she was very gracious about the mistake and offered a free round of drinks. All in all, a great meal with great service, the location however seems to let it down.

We had an incredible time here! The food was absolutely amazing – each dish was perfectly prepared and bursting with flavour. James, our server, was outstanding and made the dining experience so enjoyable with his attentive and friendly service. And let's not forget the chef, who truly worked magic in the kitchen. Every bite was a testament to their talent and passion. Highly recommend this place!

Most expensive steak I’ve paid for but glad to say it was worth it. The T-bone we ordered had a beautiful crust and evenly cooked throughout, the roast garlic and lemons were really something else. Chicken liver parfait was buttery smooth and the caramelised onions on the bone marrow brought a nice sweet balance. Service was great, very attentive and friendly from everyone. We were seated in a corner outside which was great because it was fairly loud and being in the corner was peaceful. Definitely recommend.
