The 18 Best Hotels in Athens, Greece

"You could walk past this Twenties residence on a pedestrian street in upmarket Kolonaki and never know it was the city’s most soulful guesthouse. Step inside and it’s like wandering into the bohemian home of an art collector: there’s a softly lit salon with a Strauss piano, antiques upholstered in vintage fabrics, and a library of wonderful books you want to read. The two ethereal ground-floor suites have verandas shaded by a loquat tree. Up the marble staircase are four more enormous suites with velvet divans, floating beds, intriguing artworks, and sultry bathrooms with rough-hewn marble sinks (one even has a swing). Local chocolatiers, perfumeries, and coffee shops created delicious treats and toiletries in every room. The greatest surprise is the roof garden: an urban jungle of plants, day beds, and outdoor showers. Wonderfully idiosyncratic, this is a rare treasure that feels genuinely lived in. This is a very comfortable hotel with attractive spacious rooms, which are well priced considering the quality of the accommodation. |But it is the attentive staff which is its greatest asset. |My wife and I have just spent nearly two weeks in the hotel whilst our daughter was undergoing surgery. |During what was for us a difficult period, the hotel management gave us total flexibility on our stay, and without exception the staff, who were aware of our situation, could not have been more caring and helpful. |We will be forever grateful.

The location is in central Athens. 5min to subway station on a bunch of tiny crowded streets. Not recommended for manouvering two suitcases. I emailed them two times before my stay (-3 days and -2 days) asking for a quiet room, upper floor. I got first floor corner room facing both the main street and one of the smaller ones..the former crazy busy throughout the night with passionate motorbikers desperate to show off their beasts (I guess). So, I did not get any sleep the first night. I was then switched to another room facing the back which was perfectly fine. Still, I cannot comprehend why people do not bother to take care of small details (like preassigning a quiet room, if a person asks for it). So, all in all I would say this is a 3.5 star hotel. In addition to my commiserations there are other (more objective) reasons like breakfast quality (many things were not quite proper, especially coffee a disaster to incentivize you to pay extra for a proper one at the bar), gym (designed to fit 3 people when you probably have 100-200 rooms) or sauna (designed to fit 1-2 people). For these reasons, it would be difficult to give it a "proper" 4* level. And I am not a very fussy customer (except for the noise! of course! which btw could be easily prevented through tripple glazing and such, especially if you build a hotel 5 meters away from a busy street.

The hotel is in an ideal location, a 2 minute walk away from a metro station that links to all the best places to see and visit in Athens. The room we had was spacious, and perfectly equipped with everything we needed, my hubby LOVED the huge TV! The bathroom was seriously "sexy" with recessed lighting, a "rain" shower and gorgeous tiles....immaculately clean, and I am fussy! Breakfast was a generous buffet of both hot and cold dishes. The staff were friendly and informative. It was excellent value also, and I would certainly stay there again when I come back to this beautiful city. Thank you to all that made our visit so comfortable and special.

Location great. Room great. Service great. Loved room with balcony. The onlydownside os small elevator, but not a big issue. Oh the best part was window in the toilet. I dont know whether all rooms have window in the toilet, but at least we had one. Will come back! Thanks

Great Breakfast. Clean and neat. There are several wine bars 200m at the right hand side as you go out from the hotel. The staff was polite and helpful and there is an overall calmness in the lobby.

Generally speaking i take hotels in Athens from the traditional brands (hyatt, interconti, crowne plaza, ...) but as they were really overpriced for this stay, i selected another one which seemed nice and central. That is a positive surprise ... Very good value, i had a room with a balcony on the 6th floor. Professional staff. Decent breakfast ... And only 15 minutes walk to the center square.

The restaurant and reception staff were always very friendly. The hotel was very clean. Whenever we requested room cleaning, the lady who cleaned the rooms did an excellent job, because after cleaning, everything was spotless. The bed was very comfortable. Only the breakfast could have had a bit more variety, but even as it was, it was sufficient. At breakfast, the gentleman who served coffee would immediately come to the table and pour coffee as soon as we sat down. Perfect. In short, everything was perfect.

A good choice to stay close to the downtown Athens. The rooms are good, not that outdated. The amenities are okay. The breakfast is good, however, a choice of fresh fruits is not there. And the quality of coffee could be better given that Greece is the land of Capuccino Freddo :-)
