The 18 Best Hotels in Athens, Greece

"You could walk past this Twenties residence on a pedestrian street in upmarket Kolonaki and never know it was the city’s most soulful guesthouse. Step inside and it’s like wandering into the bohemian home of an art collector: there’s a softly lit salon with a Strauss piano, antiques upholstered in vintage fabrics, and a library of wonderful books you want to read. The two ethereal ground-floor suites have verandas shaded by a loquat tree. Up the marble staircase are four more enormous suites with velvet divans, floating beds, intriguing artworks, and sultry bathrooms with rough-hewn marble sinks (one even has a swing). Local chocolatiers, perfumeries, and coffee shops created delicious treats and toiletries in every room. The greatest surprise is the roof garden: an urban jungle of plants, day beds, and outdoor showers. Wonderfully idiosyncratic, this is a rare treasure that feels genuinely lived in. The restaurant and reception staff were always very friendly. The hotel was very clean. Whenever we requested room cleaning, the lady who cleaned the rooms did an excellent job, because after cleaning, everything was spotless. The bed was very comfortable. Only the breakfast could have had a bit more variety, but even as it was, it was sufficient. At breakfast, the gentleman who served coffee would immediately come to the table and pour coffee as soon as we sat down. Perfect. In short, everything was perfect.

The hotel is in an ideal location, a 2 minute walk away from a metro station that links to all the best places to see and visit in Athens. The room we had was spacious, and perfectly equipped with everything we needed, my hubby LOVED the huge TV! The bathroom was seriously "sexy" with recessed lighting, a "rain" shower and gorgeous tiles....immaculately clean, and I am fussy! Breakfast was a generous buffet of both hot and cold dishes. The staff were friendly and informative. It was excellent value also, and I would certainly stay there again when I come back to this beautiful city. Thank you to all that made our visit so comfortable and special.

Definitely not a 4 star hotel! I have never seen in my life a 4 star hotel where they don’t serve espresso or cappuccino at the breakfast, only if you pay….They only offered some “bottle coffee” which was just horrible… Breakfast was poor, not so many options…. I paid a lot for nothing Will never come back here!

Golden Age has to be one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at, and—hands-down—is the best hotel I’ve stayed at in Athens (having stayed at many hotels in Athens over the years). The hotel is recently renovated, has beautiful balconies (though the balcony doors/windows do a good job insulating noise from the busy street outside), has rooms with a great layout and ample storage, has comfortable beds, and has a great breakfast buffet that stays open late and boasts a large selection of cereal, pastries, eggs, and bacon. My hotel room was impeccably clean; there was not one trace of dust in the room. Furthermore, the front desk staff, waitstaff at the breakfast buffet, and the room cleaning staff were all very kind and attentive. I had asked for several things from the front desk—like extra hangers and an iron—and such items were delivered to my door within minutes. I’ve never had items delivered to my room so quickly; usually, I’ve had to wait several hours. Golden Age is truly one-of-a-kind, and I look forward to staying here again in the future!

this hotel was okay. it was clean, neat but the rooms were tiny and didn’t feel much different from the Virgin Cruise balcony suite we had just vacated. it was walking distance to many of the major sites but a long walk. there were ample restaurants around the hotel.!

Excellent Stay!|I had an outstanding experience during my stay at this hotel. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and attentive, the room was spotless and comfortable, and every detail—from check-in to check-out—was seamless. The amenities exceeded my expectations, and the location was perfect. Highly recommended!||Let me know if you'd like to include specific details, such as the hotel name, amenities, or dining.||Alexandros at the restaurant (breakfast) was very gentle and had a positive attitude.||

A good choice to stay close to the downtown Athens. The rooms are good, not that outdated. The amenities are okay. The breakfast is good, however, a choice of fresh fruits is not there. And the quality of coffee could be better given that Greece is the land of Capuccino Freddo :-)
