We stayed for three nights giving ourselves two days to explore and rest in this old hill station. We chose the right place to base ourselves. |The staff are not only efficient but always react to please. The rooms we had were very comfortable and clean. |If you have the chance to meet the owner, Patrick Min, you will be afforded an enlightened view on Myanmar. His project supporting an orphanage is commendable. He creates an atmosphere that you are staying with a family.|The hotel is well situated for exploring the town. Apart from the colonial houses, the botanical gardens is a must.

We had a great time. The rooms were nice and simple, the linen clean.|We used the laundry service which was good, a bit expensive but the laundry smelled fresh and looked clean. The stuff is really nice and helpful and the breakfast good especially the coffee.|The bicycle cost 1500 mmk and they're very old and mine wasn't working properly.|The Motorbikes cost 10000 which you can find for 8000 in the city.|The san Francisco restaurant was good and the garden cafe which is very close was really good too.

I only had one night in POL, but I wished I'd had two now!||||Golden Gate is one of those places you walk in to and think "wow, yeah, I've made the right choice". A lovely garden setting, with mud hut bungalows in Flintstone's house-style.||||The room was round, and had an bed plonked in the middle, but still had enough space to move around. The bathroom wasn't that nice, but functional. Water pressure wasn't great, but not horrible either. The bed was comfy. No A/C, but you don't need it, there is a fan that works if you need a bit of air circulation.||||It was quiet and peaceful and I slept really well. Breakfast was excellent, served in a little hut in the garden, though I think they'll bring it to your deck if you'd prefer to do that. ||||Wifi in my hut was weak, but serviceable - the router is in reception, so the closer you are the better it will be.||||Location, a 15 min walk in to the market area. There are some restaurants close by, but I ate at the San Francisco restaurant at the front and had a wonderful chicken coocnut basil curry with rice. The Barista Khine coffee shop nearby does a good coffee and sells beans if you want to take some home.||||All up, I'd definitely stay here again.

Although I stayed here for work, it's certainly nice for a romantic stay too. The rooms are nicely done and amidst a charming garden (lots of work, according to the owner). There are even some mudblock-rooms just to show that one does not have to build everything in concrete all the time!||Extensive breakfast and also a restaurant with Burmese food.||You can walk to the center of town (5-10 min. even at night as we did) without any problem.||It's the general atmosphere which is really the big plus for this hotel.||Much recommended

I made a trip to Myanmar 3 years ago now, and stayed for most of it at the Golden Gate Resort. I was reading through the reviews and noticed that my own that I wrote all that time ago was not among them - so I am writing another, due to how wonderful The Golden Gate Resort and San Fransisco restaurant were.||I came to Pyin Oo Lwin to teach English at a local monestary and nunnery. I stayed for around a month and a half in total. Living there during that time was one of the best times of my life; Patrick, his family and his staff were incredibly friendly, hospitable and welcoming. They made sure I enjoyed very day there, and showed me all that there was to do in and near Pyin Oo Lwin. They allowed me to use their bicycles for free, made sure I felt at home during my birthday, told me about all the local haunts, invited me to do things when they knew I had nothing on, and always helped when things went awry. I have never felt more charmed, relaxed and welcomed anywhere I have travelled, I felt truley at home. ||I had my own small bungalow, with double bed, television, en suite, patio with a table and seats, WiFi, shower, and free bottled water all at a very very reasonable price. All of these things are wonderful, but you can get them at other places, but the comfort, kindness and homeliness of golden gate is one in a million. ||I think about The Golden Gate, Patrick, his staff and Pyin Oo Lwin very often, and am looking forward to a time when I am free to return. If you are planning on travelling to Pyin Oo Lwin, I can not recommend staying here more, and I hope that I can live vicariously through your experience!

San Francisco is very good value where the food is reliably great. Service is friendly and there are also separate rooms for groups, The "hotel" is Golden Gate Resort Guest House and is wonderfully sited in the acre of gardens. There are older newer and special Mud hut guest bungalows with breakfast. We love the place. The owner is Min Nyunt who is fluent in English and the friendliest and most helpful in town.

Stayed here twice, for me the best place to stay in Pyin. It is outside the center and the bungalows are located all the way in the back of the property, so it feels quiet and relaxed. The staff really goes out of her way to make it a good stay, you can get food from the restaurant delivered to your bungalow or clothes washed, they really make your life easier. In the winter months the bungalows can get quite cold, but you can ask for extra blankets. Definitely five stars.

Golden Gate Resort is a small resort in Pyin Oo Lwin. The bungalows are very nice with good beds and facilities. The people are very friendly and helpfull. A good restaurant “San Francisco” is in the front. Bikes you can used for free. Its about 10 minutes cycling to city centre and 15 to the botanical gardens. They arrange a very good and careful driving taxidriver from the airport. The price is around 35.000/40.000 kyats(depending on arrival time).
