"The Golden Pig feels like a secret. Nestled on the outskirts of Newstead, the cooking school opens during the week for hungry locals seeking a slice of homemade Persian cake, or a sun-dappled spot for coffee. The menu might be short, but with former Rockpool head chef Katrina Ryan at the helm, every bite is worth high praise. Try the Reuben. No regrets." - Bigfish

The Skyline Envision team celebrated our 2024 Christmas Party at the Golden Pig doing a Part Hands on, Part Party Cooking Class . Under the guidance of Chef Katrina Ryan, we created a delicious 3-course meal together. It was a fantastic experience to connect as a team, share some laughs, and enjoy the amazing dishes we prepared. If you're looking for a unique and memorable way to bring your team together, we can’t recommend The Golden Pig's cooking classes enough for your next company event. A huge thank you to Katrina and her team for making it such a special afternoon!

The food was amazing.🤩 The service was fantastic, all staff members were friendly and professional, but we were very impressed with our lovely waitress, she explained the dishes well & explained the celiac option . Absolutely loved and highly recommended the following dishes: Ceviche, cherry tomato, green chilli and Thai basil Agedashi eggplant with dashi broth Sweet and spicy Korean fried chicken Thai basil granita, coconut crunch Panacota I had the Celiac option and was very impressed with it. I give them 5/5 stars ✨

Fantastic service and ambiance at Golden Pig. Staff were always friendly and attentive. Food portions were on the smaller side but we thoroughly enjoyed sampling all the dishes. Great quality cuts of meat.

We had a few small, medium and large plates among a group of 5 and were generally happy with the food quality. They aren't doing anything special or different but they do most of it pretty well. I would definitely recommend the semifreddo dessert though. Unfortunately, the dissatisfaction for us came from being charged $42 for one piece of barramundi on a "large" plate ... meanwhile, incomparison the eggplants were 5 large pieces on a side dish.. similarly, we were charged $20 for 2 large servings of white rice which ended up being just 5 normal serving sizes per person. I think they just need to rethink pricing structures and portion sizes. If im getting a large plate, I'm definitely hoping for more than just one piece of fish.

A wonderful restaurant tucked away in the inner city. Service was outstanding with great recommendations and genuine interactions. Street parking is available. The atmosphere was also really good with warehouse vibes. The menu offers an interesting variety of Asian fusion dishes and flavours and seasonings. I was impressed with the portion sizes, well-balanced flavours and fresh ingredients. They offer really good dietary options for vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free and more.

I had heard great things about golden pig but it was a bit hit and miss. The cocktails we ordered were a bit lacklustre but the great dishes from our selections made up for the visit. First, we ordered the kingfish ceviche which was stellar. Secondly we had the wontons which were also excellent. We would come back for the ceviche and the wontons! Thirdly we had the duck which wasn’t anything special. The noodle salad came out at the same time and this was pretty tasty. Lastly we had the pork ribs. The sauce flavour on the ribs was very tasty but I thought the pork was a bit overdone and dry and the meat was almost cold. I wanted to love them a whole lot more than I did because the flavour was on point but the cooking/ reheating was disappointing.

Re the cooking school: I love everything about this place! Katrina (Owner & Head Chef) has created something really special with the format of cooking school. I recently attended my fourth cooking class (over the past 2-3 years) and this time brought along my mum. We did the Modern Greek class. Like the previous classes I’ve done, it was nothing short of excellent! Katrina is entertaining, a great teacher for the skilled culinary hobbyist looking to learn a new skill and very patient with those just trying something new. Classmates are always interesting and create a fun atmosphere. Highly recommend for cooks who want to learn something new, a unique date night, or friends who just want to try something different that’s not a pub or a club.

Good experience but slightly disappointing. We had the $90 banquet. Quantity was on point and dishes were presented well. However most dishes were missing that extra element to elevate the flavour combinations and there was nothing we fell in love with. Service was great as all staff were professional and attentive. Venue interior felt a bit dated and industrial. After seeing this restaurant on urban list and the high ratings, it did not live up to expectations.
