When I was in Chiang Mai for a week in mid-March, I stayed in two hotels. Of the two, Golden Wells Residence was a clear favorite. The hotel is within walking distance of everything I wanted to see so I didn’t need a car. Narissa, the owner, warmly greeted me with fresh juice and thoughtful conversation, and after checking me in, she showed me to my room. It was a large apartment-style room with sleeping area, sitting area and kitchen area. The kitchen not only had a good-sized refrigerator, it had a stovetop and microwave, perfect for families whose children might need to eat as soon as they awake. In another thoughtful gesture, Narissa had made rice cakes for me to snack on. Breakfast is included and served 8:00-10:30, but can be served as early as 7:00. My choice for breakfast each morning was an egg dish, which was served with sides of potatoes, toast, fresh fruit and coffee. Everything was fresh and delicious. Throughout my stay, I had several opportunities to speak with Narissa, and she gave me good advice on what to do and see in and around Chiang Mai. If ever I come to Chiang Mai again, I will head straight to Golden Wells because it will feel like I’m coming home. One note: the entrance to the courtyard has a wooden crosspiece to keep the doors closed. The doors are not locked. You simply need to slide the wooden piece left or right until one of the doors swings open.

This Resistance is as close to feeling like royalty you can get. Our room, the breakfast and the proximity to everything delicious was unbelievable. The owner and staff are true professionals whose only goal is excellence!

Great small boutique hotel offering quality suites. Tucked away on a small quiet street proximal to the Chiang Mai Gate street food area, Saturday night walking market and other services. I enjoy walking the back streets of Chiang Mai in the morning from this choice lodging.

Highly recommend this B&B and restaurant (you can eat breakfast or lunch here if you are not a guest). See my photos for examples of the fabulous food. They present a limited western menu ( including good smoothie bowls) but as soon as we asked for Thai breakfast they made a new multi course gourmet spread every morning. Fruit always the first course— perfectly ripe and varied. Main course ( and sometimes 2 main courses) with meat ; if you are vegetarian they can accommodate. Third course often a dessert. We stayed 9 nights. This is quiet, perfectly located, clean. Huge room. Clean and efficient layout. Comfy bed. Lots of light. Quiet aircon. Nice public sitting spaces and super friendly hosts— 2 sisters who own the place. One sister also owns an organic farm if you are interested in a farm tour or food experience. Located 1 min from night market at Chiang mai gate, around the corner from best Khao soi restaurant. I almost picked a hotel with “canal view” but glad I didn’t. All the traffic and noise is near the canals. This place is on a quiet side street on what I think is the best side of the old quarter to be in. For more travel tips visit NextStageTravel dot com

We stayed here while visiting the old city of Chiangmai. We absolutely loved the personal attention from the owners, wonderful people. The rooms and grounds were very clean and modern. We opted for two rooms for the four of us. The rooms are spacious with a kitchenette, wifi and large bathroom. The breakfast is delicious and their coffee very good. We are coming back to stay on our way to Cambodia next week. Terrific place for our children and family to stay while exploring the old city. We highly recommend staying here.

My family and I spent a lovely week here over New Year’s. It is located in the heart of the Old Town on a quiet soi. It was so nice to be on a busy street and turn the corner and be in a peaceful sanctuary (aside from the odd rooster crowing). Our rooms were very spacious and clean and the included breakfast was surprisingly delicious. But it was the friendly and accommodating staff that made our stay outstanding. The proprietor made sure all our needs were met and provided us with terrific recommendations. She went out of her way to ensure we had everything we needed, whether it was extra towels for swimming with elephants or an early breakfast before an all day tour. She even mailed our daughter’s favorite t-shirt that she accidentally left in the room!||I can’t say enough about the fantastic staff at the Golden Wells. We cannot wait to return.

If you are looking for a very clean, comfortable and hospitable place to stay, this is it. The hotel is conveniently located, just a short walk from the Sunday night market, the rooms are very big, comfortable, clean and Narissa, the owner, has put a lot of thought into making your stay more comfortable including providing a selection of books for different tastes. ||We had an absolutely delicious breakfast every morning, always with a selection of the best local fruits, with everything always beautifully presented. Narissa and her staff are always so warm, pleasant and helpful, they add to the charm of Chiang Mai.

We stayed in the junior suite room which is very spacious. All the staff here especially Ing and Narissa (owner) is very patient and has great hospitality. We were very happy with our stay and will definitely recommend to all my friends and family. There is not much to complain about as the pros outnumbers the cons. Rooms are very clean, it has all the amenities you require. Great for families travelling. We are already planning on coming back to Chiang Mai and staying at The Golden Wells Residence.
