The Good Earth is a jewel in the crown of Leicester's city centre. Despite toiling up a flight of stairs to the restaurant, the aroma that that greets you is intoxicating: fresh ingredients, lovingly and expertly melded into delicious and varied confections. The first time I went with my husband, who was already a devout convert to the Good Earth, I was bemused by the hearty shepherd's pie which I wrongly thought contained meat. However, it was made with brown lentils! The desserts are varied, ranging from traditional fruit crumbles to exotic guava meringue. The Good Earth is not just an eatery, it is a haven for all those who enjoy good food in a quirky, relaxed space.

Another great lunch at the home of good vegetarian food in Leicester. I had Broccoli and Stilton soup for starters and it was divine. Sweet chilli pasta bake with salad was superb. The cornflake pie was a bit too sweet for my liking. Great service as always. Will be returning very soon

First went here as a child in the 1980s. It’s exactly the same today, which is a lovely thing. Great food, atmosphere and service,

I've been coming here for over 35 years!! It's one of Leicester's greatest little institutions, great then and great now. Good wholesale vegetarian and vegan food and their help-yourself salad is always fresh and delicious. It's such a shame they've stopped doing their fruit crumbles. Bring it back!!! Once you discover this hidden gem you will always come back again and again.

Excellent experience for the four of us who dined at The Good Earth. Quiet and atmospheric; a good place to relax, chat and enjoy good food and drinks at reasonable prices.

Yelp
The perfect place for vegetarians and vegans in Leicester! What is suprising is that I, a comitted carnivore, found something I could enjoy. Well done

Yelp
This is one of the best kept secrets in Leicester. A lovely, cosy homely little restaurant with the most quaint decor you've ever seen. It is very local and friendly and all the food is made fresh onsite. Go for a cup of tea and some homemade cake or go all out on some fantastic meal, quite often veggie, always organic, fresh and delicious. I must say it's not the cheapest place for what is quite often simple fare, but it really is so good as not to be ignored.

Yelp
This vegetarian restaurant has been going for ages - I first visited 18 years ago. It is amazing that it is still going. It is hidden away on a side street and you could easily pass within 50 yards of the place and not know it is there. The opening hours are quite limited. Monday to Saturday, it is open from about 11am round till about 4pm, with the occasional special on Friday evenings. The specials usually have to be pre-booked and have a set meal, live music, etc. The place itself is unusual, with olde worlde pine tables and chairs. The food seems homemade and it doesn't feel like a restaurant much of the time, more like a WI evening. And the food. Lots of interesting veggie mains, plenty of cakes and treats, and delicious.

Yelp
After eating here I have become a vegetarian. The food is delicious, I would come here every day if I could. The dining area is very homely, clean and staff are friendly and polite. Very reasonable prices for the quality and different types of food on offer. The puddings are fantastic especially the lemon sponge drizzle cake mmmmmm. Don't forget to take some home with you!
