The Gore London - Starhotels Collezione

I had a classic double room, which was beautifully decorated and a reasonable size. The room was on the 5th floor so I needed to get the lift to the fourth floor and walk up a small flight of stairs. The staff member who checked me in was very friendly and helpful, he carried my suitcase for me. |The bar and library areas are really pretty, I enjoyed a cocktail in the bar after an event at nearby Royal Albert Hall. |Overall I enjoyed my stay but I had a couple of issues that I wouldn’t expect from a hotel costing £300 a night. The shower head was very leaky so water pressure was low and I struggled to wash my hair properly. When I reported this at reception, they didn’t seem surprised or to care about the inconvenience to me. There was also mould/staining on the tiles. My room service meal was well presented but cold. The lighting in the coffee machine area was inadequate and I couldn’t really see what I was doing. Also on checkout there were several additional services charges, for the bar, room service (on top of tray charge) and accommodation. I travel frequently for work and have not had charges like this before. The hotel says they are transparent about the accommodation service charge but I can’t see it mentioned on my booking confirmation.

Had a lovely evening staying here. Warm welcome on a very cold night! Easy checking in service. Lift available to room on 4th floor. Nice layout, shower room is well decorated to good standard. Classic room chosen, double bed comfy and warm. Amazing wooden frame and Outlook across the street. Breakfast served until 11am checkout time. Great tasting English breakfast and good service again. A lovely treat for me on arrival to celebrate a birthday too!

I took my wife to london for the weekend for her birthday and stayed at the Gore hotel.|The original room I booked had a few issues but I didn't expect the hotel manger to upgrade us to the tudor suite for the second night.|This room was absolutely fantastic. Described as the most luxurious apartment in London. I would agree.|I would like to personally mention Pedro at reception and George the concierge who were flawless and professional in every way. I also asked for flowers to be left in our room for my wife which George arranged.|We also reserved a table in the restaurant and ordered aberdeen angus cote de boeuf....compliments to the chef, it was divine.|Breakfast was also above and beyond our expectations due to the quality of ingredients and service.|Overall, our experience at the Gore was fantastic.|We will be staying again.

The Gore is in a fantastic location of south Kensington in a lovely neighborhood that felt very safe. Walkable to many things including Hyde park, Harrods and the metro. The staff is ever accommodating especially Christian who addressed anything we needed immediately. The hotel is a historic building so expect smaller hallways and some creaky floors -- all part of the charm. The restaurant was decorated so beautifully for the holidays and the drinks at the bar were fantastic (plus some really fun bartenders who gave us a laugh!!). The shower is VERY strong water:) just be careful getting in the higher set tub if you are short or have mobility concerns. Would definitely recommend the Gore!

So it's a great little place, has a nice atmosphere and the bar has real character. However, I checked in at 15.00 and then tried to get ready at 17.30 to only then be told there is no hot water. They offered to move me to another hotel but not proactively, only after I needed to get ready. In the end they took 50 percent off the bill but makes for a difficult stay and not really a great experience. The room was quaint and had character but also could do with some updating here and there.

The booking was under my husband Ian's name, when we arrived you had no record of our booking despite the fact that we had a reservation number and the receptionist was not very helpful. The rest of our stay was fine, although the room and bed were small. This is why I gave a 3 star rating.

I only stayed here one night but I was very happy with this hotel. Room was on the small side but cosy. Very traditional decor which i liked as well as the library for relaxing. Staff were friendly and very kindly posted to me a cuddly toy that my daughter left behind. Great location, right next to Hyde park and several museums.

Beautiful hotel , perfect location for the Royal Albert hall. If you are vegan id suggest eating else where , as the choice of food is so very limited and what you do get is poorly prepared. We stay in room 102 which was beautiful decorated , but come with lots of safe concerns. The bath room has several high steps , step to get up to the bath and then you have to climb over a 3 feet wall to get into the bath come shower and before that as you open the bathroom door there is a high step to manoeuvre up to. The bed is so comfortable to sleep on, but you challenge will be can you get on to the bed as it’s so far of the ground you will require steps to help you onto it or be over 6ft.Before you book your room make enquires, ask there any safety concerns you should be made aware of, high bed and visual impaired , mobility issues for the someone with a disability etc.
