Myself and my daughter had an overnight stay at The Gore as we were attending a concert at the Royal Albert Hall. The proximity of the hotel to the venue couldn't be better, 5 minute walk, maximum. Our twin ensuite room was very comfortable, quiet and had all we needed. A lift to our floor was an added bonus. The hotel is beautifully (quirky and traditionally) decorated, much to my taste. The staff were very friendly and attentive. I would happily stay again!

Everyone has been fantastic during our stay, but I wanted to recognize Omar, who works the front desk. We asked him how early we would need to call a car to make an early morning event. He said not to worry, he would have a car waiting for us and offered to have coffee ready as well since the time was before breakfast. When we arrived the following morning, he had our car and coffee ready - as well as a box of pastries for us to enjoy. He made us feel special and should be commended for it.

The Gore hotel and staff went way out in helping us find a wonderful stay in London. We check in the Gore but unfortunately they did not have a room with a king bed and a walk-in shower so the staff took it as a help to find us accommodation at one of their sister properties with a king bed and walk-in shower not far from the Gore. They paid our taxi over to the Franklin hotel where the staff there treated us very well. I think that the staff at the Gore did an excellent job making us feel like family and treating us with such respect. A one of a kind hotel

We stayed here to visit Hyde park live music and its walkable from there. Room was gorgeous, the whole hotel is like an art museum. Very comfy beds and the staff are so friendly We'll be back! X

All staff were lovely & courteous & the food was great. The historical building is nice but it deep need of refurbishment. I’ve stayed in many characterful buildings plus many modern builds, unfortunately this fell short, which is a shame as my general preference is for Victorian buildings. The restaurant, albeit small, is adequate, but again, in need of renovation. My chosen room was disappointing. I don’t expect to find a cracked sink, cracked floor tiles, tatty curtains, shoddy wall sockets in such a well known & recommended hotel. I didn’t feel the need to raise this concern to reception as the cracked tiles etc have clearly been cracked for some time. Overall..great location for the Royal Albert Hall, but definitely not worth the money..even if it landed the same week as ‘Ascot’ (peak season)

I should have stayed at The Gore several years ago but fate intervened and I promised myself I would stay there one day! Was therefore delighted to at last be able to visit as I was seeing a show at the Royal Albert Hall (literally a stones throw away). Pre-stay communication was good. I was informed my room had been upgraded, which I was most grateful for. The room was a delight (Room 402) - very cosy with beautiful furnishings, a very comfortable bed, good closet space, a sitting area and fully functioning bathroom with great water pressure. The library and bar were both beautiful and there is a Rolling Stones photographic exhibition on currently. The breakfast room was beautiful and service was unhurried but efficient with many choices. The entire Team were just wonderful (with a special mention to the Concierge). I’ve stayed in hotels allover the world and can honestly say The Gore is right up there for top notch service and hospitality. Thank you all at The Gore for making this solo female traveller feel like a million dollars! Will definitely return some day.

We would like to leave our review immediately after our stay at The Gore Hotel. The hotel is in a great location, the rooms are clean, the reception staff are friendly. The main downfall of this hotel is the food. The breakfast is poor and tasteless for a rather high price of 29 pounds. Save your time and find another place for breakfast. The breakfast staff are not as friendly as the reception staff. On the last day of our stay, they brought us toasts (they were lying one on top of the other). Imagine our surprise when we discovered that the bottom toast was bitten and stained with egg yolk. We did not eat eggs that morning. We kindly told the girl about it and asked her to bring a new toast. Unfortunately, no one apologized or brought a new toast. Then, on the way to the airport, the hotel told us that we took the room key with us and immediately wrote off 25 pounds for the key. Despite the fact that we said that we put it on the reception desk and you need to look at the cameras and sort it out. You didn't look into the situation, wrote off the money, but later found the key and sent a letter of apology. Which I am attaching here. Below I attach the exact quote from the hotel manager J-J Pollak in Google that they never found the key. + I attach the photo of the letter from hotel The Gore that they found the key. Which indicates dishonest behavior. "Regarding the key charge: as is standard practice in many hotels, a fee is charged for unreturned room keys. Had the key been found after your departure, of course we would have refunded the charge without hesitation. Our team did investigate but unfortunately were unable to locate the key. We understand this may have been frustrating, but we did follow standard procedures and acted fairly in this instance" A 5 star hotel cannot be so inattentive to customers and serve half-eaten toasts. This really spoiled our impression and left us disappointed.

We had a very enjoyable 4 nights at The Gore. All the staff were always welcoming polite and helpful. We arrived earlier than planned but our room was ready which was a bonus. Although the room was a comfort room, it had all the space we needed. The decor was a lovely change from stark modern hotels. Breakfast choices were really good and all freshly prepared, staff always checking we had everything. As we were celebrating we had a piece of cake delivered to our room. Tea and coffee in room very good. We enjoyed a couple of cocktails in the bar. Despite being near very busy roads our room at the front was very quiet. Will definitely be returning to The Gore, hopefully later this year. Thank you to all for making our visit such a memorable one.

Yelp
I absolutely LOVE the Gore hotel! The history is fascinating from Judy Garland to the Stones. The service is spectacular and the rooms are lush. I've stayed here over multiple trips to London and am in awe every time. The Judy Garland suite is everything you would hope it to be, complete with ruby red slippers and some other memorabilia. It's lush and spacious, comfortable and one of a kind. Each room in the hotel is unique with its own name and personality. There are no bad rooms. The daily breakfast delivered by room service was exceptional. It's totally worth it. The bar is super swanky and loaded with the good stuff. It's a great spot after a show at Prince Albert. More so, it has so much history of its own given The Rolling Stones did one of their album cover photos in that very bar. The staff are what make this place. It had been 2 years since my last stay and yet the moment I walked in the door, I was treated with a zealous handshake and a "welcome back!" From the history to the service and lavish accoutrements, the Gore will always be my go to place in London!

Yelp
We really enjoyed our stay here recently! John the concierge was super helpful and their breakfast was amazing (shoutout to Johanna (sp?) who was almost single-handedly taking care of the entire breakfast room with aplomb!). This location was super walkable to lots of things and we enjoyed multiple visits to nearby Kensington Park. Would absolutely recommend and stay here again.

Yelp
I absolutely loved this hotel. The best feature was George!! He made my stay amazing. He just looked after us. Two woman traveling and made sure he always checked in to make sure we got back okay. Gave amazing recommendation to eateries or shopping. I just loved George!!! Our room was nice and had a great view. We are at the hotel restaurant and it was yummy. I lived on the Gin and tonics. My only disappointment was that when we left I left a nice tip for George. Once I arrived back home to California I called to make sure he received it, but he didn't. I will be returning and time I will make sure he gets it.

Yelp
Lovely hotel full of character. Situated near to the major museums. Hospitality as it used to be. Staff that have time to get to know you. The breakfast isn't cheap, but is outstanding, probably the best I've ever had in a hotel. We liked the period furniture and decor that's why we chose to stay here. Our new go to hotel when visiting London.

Yelp
We reserved this room months in advance and asked for Judy Garland's room which was fully booked. We emailed and called several times to see if the reservation was cancelled but to no avail. Then last minute they called to say there was a cancellation and we were to stay in the famous Judy Garland room with the ruby red slippers. Gorgeous big room with her original headboard and some furniture from the time she stayed in this room. Lovely stay, very decadent old London feel. The bar is lovely with beautiful decadent well crafted drinks. Enjoyed this hotel tremendously. Good location too.

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful place and wonderful service. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. The breakfast stuck out to me, specially the eggs. The hotel gets their eggs from a farm and they are beautiful. Also, the porridge is amazing! We plan to go back!

Yelp
We got to stay here for a few days during our stay in London and I must say it was great service. We were always greeted with a smile. The staff was very helpful. It was our first time in London so they helped us with some suggestions and directions. The room even came with a smartphone that we used for directions etc. I just couldn't believe there was no heating system for the library. We had gone one late night for a few whiskeys but it was so cold that we guzzled our drinks paid and ran out. Otherwise pleasant experience. The rooms are clean and uniquely pretty. The staircase was even charming.

Yelp
We stayed here again. Four day weekend to get away. Once again, the hotel was pure class. We stayed in a suite which might have been the most quintessentially British room in all of London. As usual an excellent staff, and the tea service and bar are fantastic.

Yelp
Came here for the first time about 3 weeks ago. What a warm and friendly place this is. Mate,Valeria and Rowan were fantastic. They were very helpful in questions we had on anything. They went out of our way to make sure our stay was awesome. I highly recommend this place and would stay here again.

Yelp
Stayed here for business, as it's super close to the Royal Albert hall. Just walk up the back street and you're at the hall in a couple minutes! Very charming hotel. It feels like someone's old mansion, with old stairs and antique furniture. The bed was very grand, and there's a tiny balcony/window where you can watch people pass and feel like royalty. Unless you get some sort of suite, the rooms are small. Very tight space from bed to wall and bathroom. The security was a bit lax, with keys you leave at the desk. If you just say you're going to [insert name]'s room, they'll literally hand you the key and let you just go! You could probably tell them not do to that, if you're worried.

Yelp
Lovey hotel!!! I loved the tiny windy staircase to get to the room, the details left from long ago making it feel like I'd traveled back in time. The rich colors and comfy bed and chairs were delightful. The bar is really cool, too. Pop in for a drink if you can't stay the night!
google avatar

Kelly O.

Yelp
The staff were nice, the room was a bit small for the bed (just about 12" from the end of the bed to the wall). They failed to explain that the lunch we had on arrival was not going to be included, in place of us checking out early the days later. Small but quaint, and don't assume anything about their charges.

Yelp
Still such a charming and old school cozy venue...but the last experience was a far departure from prior. Still very quiet, but also overcharged (for two wines so fairly simple, plus 12.5% service charge, so small errors for only two glasses of wine with no apologies is annoying). Many middle aged people living outside the area and not staying at the hotel seem to come to order a lot of food and catch up, so most larger seating areas are filled with just parties of 2, which is a tad annoying, as well.

Yelp
I loved our 8-night stay at The Gore Hotel. The rooms are small, but well-appointed and completely charming. For example, gorgeous antique brass and copper exterior pipes run water to the bath and shower. Plush bathrobes provided, high thread count sheets, lovely antique furniture throughout the entire hotel. Complimentary bottled water, tea, and coffee self-service in a lovely library on the first floor. True, the breakfast is expensive but it's delicious and the restaurant is so lovely that it's worth it. Location is ideal if one likes museums. I was a bit disappointed that the staff, though perfectly attentive and knowledgeable, were English-as-a-Second-Language speakers, making my British experience less so. So I discovered that London is a global city like any other these days, with international workers from around the world. Just about everywhere we went (museum stores, restaurants, hair salons) it was the same story. I'm not sure where British people work? I took off one star due to the lack of wi-fi. The Gore has a complimentary, communal PC available, but the machine was so old and wi-fi connection so slow that it kept freezing up. One can purchase wi-fi by the hour or day, but that's what made my husband so mad. He says only the high-end hotels still charge for wi-fi. Still I would definitely recommend The Gore Hotel and can't wait to go back.

Yelp
We called in here for some drinks after a gig at the Albert Hall. Nice bar but for goodness-sake bring your purse ! Also, don't expect any bar nibbles like nuts or crisps - no such thing !

Yelp
I don't know where to start ...I'm Giving one star because the bar was cool and food was decent. The hotel staff are not helpful. They are zombies The hotel Is old. As u can see. from the photos what u can't see I. Photos is that it smells moldy. Musty. The plumbing is awful and loud. The halls fill with the aroma of fish every evening. The carpet in hallway smells like something similar to a dirty baby diaper. The WiFi. Not good either.we had to change rooms because they gave us the smallest room I'm assuming. Couldn't open our suitcases in there The mini bar is a joke. Overall. It is like sleeping in an old haunted mansion. If u aren't bela Lagosi. Then I don't recommend. I was looking for an authentic British feel. Instead it was more Transylvania. Luckily it's October s week before Halloween. So we went with it. Only three days. And I've never packed so fast in my life. Happy Halloween gore hotel. ‍

Yelp
I stayed at The Gore in January and I have to say how amazing the front desk team was to deal with. It was the first time my husband and I were in England and just were amazed at how much care the staff put in and how well they treat their guests. The staff working the morning buffet are not as friendly but everyone else was amazing! The room was decent and clean! The only thing is we didn't realize that the rooms are smaller in Europe so don't travel with 5 luggage's like we did!!!

Yelp
We stayed at The Gore on Saturday evening for the last night of our honeymoon. We got a deal through HotelTonight for $214, including taxes and fees. Considering the location and charm of the hotel, we thought this was a very good deal. When our cab pulled up to the hotel, it looked adorable. A boutique hotel that blends right into the neighborhood. We were helped quickly at the front desk and then immediately escorted upstairs. To say the room was tiny doesn't fully do the phrase justice - with one carry-on on the floor, my husband and I were hopping over one another to move around the room. Still, it has more of a cozy than cramped feel to it. There was a king sized bed with a small desk. The furniture wasn't new but it didn't feel used or dirty at all. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was even smaller - it was hard to maneuver around the toilet. One of my big pet peeves (though it seems to be more and more common) is not having a shelf in the shower. There was a tiny shelf with a few toiletries on it, but that doesn't help to shave your legs! The water pressure was some of the most intense of any shower I've been in, and the water stayed nicely hot for the entirety of the shower. Of note, the free wifi was also very strong. There's also a cute/trendyish-looking bar in the lobby. We went in and it was too crowded to get a seat and we had an early flight back to LA, so we didn't stay. Breakfast could have been included, but it wasn't cheap and we knew we could get better prices and a small walk in before our long flight back by going down the street. Overall, we'd definitely stay again when back in London.

Yelp
Extraordinary - it was like living in an episode of Antiques Roadshow - and the lounge is lovely, though the room can be a struggle to keep warm in winter even with the fireplace. Still - you can fill yourself up with complimentary coffees and teas from the marvellous and ingenious no-mess Nespresso machine with their delicious light as a feather shortbread, sit by the fire and digest the day's Newspapers - I stayed in the room directly above the entrance with balcony in November 2010. Surprisingly they do not have BBC Radio 3, 4 or The World Service in the rooms, although they do have digital TV, which I couldn't find radio on. This is an oversight for the official Proms hotel - peculiar. I expect to see 'Pure' stereo DAB radios in each room in due course! Whatever you do, do not get the front desk to call you a cab - by arrangement with the hotel they charge a minimum of £13, and this was just down the road to the cinema! Call a mini cab yourself and wait near the door outside

Yelp
Just stayed at The Gore on a recent London weekend! It is great! Charming, great staff, excellent location! The Gore has a really cool library for the guests to have a cup of tea, etc and meet up with friends or just hang out and read. The restaurant was great and the bar was very cool. It's where the rolling stones held their record release party for Beggars Banquet and there are some great photos of the event in the bar.

Yelp
Had a really great stay. I took my mum to London as a treat, and I wanted somewhere quiet and a bit old school, without a dj in the lobby. This was perfect. The lady at the front desk took really good care of us.

Yelp
I won't review the hotel.. unless another qype member invits me to review the rooms; ) HOnestly, I wen't in the hotel, desesperate for a drink. Concierge very nicely directed me to the Bar, which is a gem: you ll love the dark wood atmosphere, dim lights, and hidden corners, and comfy seats. The wole place does not seem exhuberant, not at all. It fells just right ! Very classy place, friendly staff and professional. Definitively a place I ll get back to with special friends.

Yelp
The Gore is a superb hotel, great bar with excellent wine selection, rooms spacious and lovely, a sophisticated atmosphere and a kind, efficient service.

Yelp
We recently booked the Gore directly. We had a confirmed reservation number, we travelled four hours to this hotel, to be told that there were no rooms and we had been booked into their sister hotel 'The Pelham', we had booked this hotel as it was a recommended hotel by the Royal Albert Hall, within walking distance, where we were attending a concert that evening. Travellers beware, and ask if you will definitely have a room in this hotel.......
