23 Best Hotels in Dublin, Ireland | Condé Nast Traveler

"Planted as centrally as it gets on the former site of beloved Bartley Dunne’s pub, this hotel feels both new and rooted in local history, especially after its 2022 refurbishment. The striking, light-filled Art Deco lobby—echoing the hotel’s branding—is a daytime favorite for locals who come for coffee and ambiance and signals the classy, considered, and cozy style upstairs. Rooms range from classic kings to suites and are loaded with amenities, dressed in rich copper and purple tones, brown leather upholstery, and floor‑to‑ceiling windows. Breakfast is generous and high-quality, with soda bread, porridge, the usual buffet suspects, fresh honeycomb, and barista coffee. Food and drink continue at Bartley’s Restaurant, which serves elevated pub fare in a Manhattan-esque setting, and a coffee terrace with pastries sits just off the lobby. Walking out the front door drops you straight into the heart of the city, just minutes from St. Stephen’s Green, Grafton Street, and Dublin’s creative, bohemian quarter." - Ciara McQuillan, Matt Charlton

Grafton Hotel has it all! It's location is excellent, convenient to all of the city's attractions. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The breakfast has a great variety and it the first time I was ever in a hotel where a member of the staff showed you where every breakfast item was. We were not disturbed with noise from the street. Our room had an issue with the heating thermostat but that was attended to swiftly. Thank you, for a lovely stay.

Stayed at the Grafton late Sept / early Oct with a group of 7 people. The location is fantastic with everything we wanted to do in Dublin within walking distance. Breakfasts were stellar and the bar actually new how to make really good cocktails (which I find rare for a hotel bar). Rooms were clean and comfortable and no complaints there. Saving the best for last was the team they had - every single person we dealt with at the hotel was amazing! quick to help (even escort you a block or two away to help you find a specific spot) and always had a joke ready to make you smile...shout out specifically to Gareth Forde, Noel Ryan and Gary Campbell - you guys helped make this trip very memorable!

We just finished a five night stay at The Grafton Hotel in Dublin. From the moment we arrived (early, fresh off of an overnight flight) until the moment we left, the hotel staff was superb. Every single staff member with whom we interacted was welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Murilo, the assistant manager, was a standout. He anticipated our every need and went out of his way to help us in any way he could, even with things we hadn’t considered. ||The breakfast was a lovely start to the days and the bar was an ideal way to end them. The bar was very busy every evening, but operated smoothly and was full of happy patrons. One of the ladies went out of her way to make me a specific cocktail with which she wasn’t familiar, but it was perfect. ||The rest of the hotel was well appointed and quiet. The rooms were quite nice and large, by European standards. The bathroom was small, but perfectly adequate. Housekeeping kept things very tidy throughout. The location within the city is perfect; indeed, it is ideal for those who prefer walkability. Overall, we would love to stay at the Grafton again, should we have the fortune to return to Dublin.

My family stayed at the Grafton for 2 nights in early November and we loved the hotel, it's location, and the staff members -- especially Murilo, who checked us in smoothly and quickly after a long overnight flight. He was efficient, welcoming, and helped us get into rooms immediately, which was so appreciated! There were 6 of us, staying in 3 different rooms, and we all were extremely happy. The beds were comfortable, and the hotel was exceptionally clean. We enjoyed the amenities, including the in-room coffee and tea, the robes, and the slippers. One night after dinner (and walking miles all day!) we took advantage of the bar for a drink and played cards. We borrowed cards from the front desk (I did not get the name of the woman who found the deck for us --so sweet!) and it was such a bonus that the hotel had a great area to unwind with family while traveling. Plus, the bartender was awesome!! The location of the Grafton is wonderful, and we walked to all the tourist destinations we planned to see.

We recently enjoyed an excellent stay at The Grafton whilst celebrating our daughter’s 30th birthday. From the moment Pat picked us up from the airport we laughed. This is what Irish hospitality is all about. Noel, Gary, Simon and the entire team cannot do enough for you, from making sure you have your coffee in the morning to recommending places to go, and keeping an eye on when you get in from the pub.... All with such a lovely manner. Everyone made such an effort to ensure we had a comfortable stay and were able to make the most of all Dublin has to offer. It felt like the closest a hotel can feel to staying in someone’s home! The location is surprisingly very quiet given that it is right in the middle of everything. Convenient for walking around with Trinity College, Grafton Street and Temple Bar nearby …that is if you can leave the comfortable bed or move after the delicious breakfast. The weekly weather report in the lobby is brilliant, hopefully it will go on the website?! Dublin is a fantastic city in itself and the people make it very special. We’re looking forward to our next stay and in the meantime wish you continuing success!

My team and I had a Christmas party at Bartley's at The Grafton Restaurant on 4th Dec 2025. We were extremely pleased with the service. The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive throughout the event. They ensured everything ran smoothly and were quick to assist guests with any requests. Their cheerful attitude really added to the festive atmosphere. Also, the food was excellent, with a great variety of dishes that catered to different dietary needs. Everything was fresh, well-presented, and full of flavour.

I had a fantastic stay at The Grafton Hotel! From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional — warm, professional, and genuinely welcoming. The staff went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. The room was beautifully designed, spotlessly clean, and incredibly comfortable. Every detail was thoughtfully considered, making it a truly relaxing experience. The location is ideal too — right in the heart of Dublin, with everything within walking distance. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend The Grafton Hotel to anyone looking for a stylish, comfortable, and well-run place to stay in the city. Can’t wait to return!

Google
Great location, amazing staff, and AMAZING SERVICE! everything about this place was 5 stars! the location of the hotel was great as it was close to the town square and was walkable. The staff was extremely friendly and helped us out any time we had any questions. If we ever decide to come back to Dublin this will be our place of stay every single time.

Enjoyed a lovely stay at Grafton Hotel! Very nice amenities, clean rooms, cute restaurant and breakfast. Great walking location for local attractions and the shops of Grafton street. Nice pub in the evening for a nightcap. Would stay again!

Yelp
Great central location for visiting Dublin. Spacious rooms, wonderful staff. Wonderful to be able walk to see all the sites. Short walk to Book of Kells and Trinity College. Listen to music on Grafton street. Take in all the good food and pint at the pub

Yelp
I strongly recommend people to stay away from this hotel. Although it is in a fantastic location, the entire hotel is in desperate need of an update. This is not even related to aesthetics, which are old and minimal, but the facilities themselves. Our rooms had the bare minimum of lighting - it was so dark that we had to request additional lamps. The toilet paper holder was missing, and rather than replacing them, housekeeping had simply stacked rolls of toilet paper on top of the toilets. Sheets & towels were threadbare and old, while tissues & toilet paper were of the lowest possible quality. The showers were impossible - it kept alternating between freezing ice cold to scorching hot without any prompting, and even our toilet seat was hopelessly askew. Throughout the day, an extremely loud fan was constantly going except in the early AM hours - there was no way to turn it off. Wifi is only available in the "lounge". One minorly redeeming factor aside from location is that when alerted to these issues, the front desk did their best to rectify the situation (getting toilet paper holders, adding a lamp, and moving us from our original room that was closet sized and overlooking the loud front pub to a quieter and larger inner room). They did explain that the hotel has been trying to get an update, but until that happens, find another hotel.

Yelp
Hotels in Dublin are expensive, bar none. The trick is to balance price versus location versus condition. Grafton Capital Hotel is the perfect choice. Sure there are nicks and whatnot, not everything is perfect. If it was the price would be closer to 300 euros per night. Beatriz in Reception greeted us and her welcome and helpfulness set the tone for our entire stay, which was great. All Staff that we encountered were warm and helpful. Never heard the pub downstairs, and slept well each night. The only negative was the limited Wi-Fi but the building is very old. Enjoy!

Yelp
At €189 euro for the night this hotel has a cheek. I can only describe it as a dump. One of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. The lifts barely work they are so old. As for the rooms, the beds are old, the decor is old, the TV is very old . And all of this could be forgiven if the room was clean. But it's not. The carpets , curtains and chairs are stained and dirty. The wall I swear looked like they had dried in poo on them. The surrounds of the bath was falling apart and the bathroom fittings had pieces just missing. All in all I wouldn't stay here again if they offered to pay me €189 a night.

Yelp
This is a tired hotel. Exhausted. Thread bare carpets. Washroom that were great in the 60s are now woefully rotting and challenging. Windows don't close. There is wifi in one corner of the first floor only. People tell us to avoid the restaurant. The televisions are there for show only. The topper, the credit card machines were not working and we were told to find the nearest ATM. On a good note, sheets are clean. Staff is friendly.

Yelp
Grafton Capital Hotel is VERY dated, tired, falling apart basically. The hotel is connected to a 3 floor bar/ nightclub which is VERY noisy at night. If you are a solid sleeper and don't really care about the shape of your room and just looking for a GREAT location - I guess this hotel will serve it's purpose. Free wi-fi on 1st floor. No free breakfast. Around the corner from Grafton Street shopping and many many restaurants.

Yelp
Place is outdated for sure but centrally located for Dublin City. If you're a light sleeper stay elsewhere because the bar downstairs which is partly outside can be very noisy. All in all I would stay here again because I was on Vacation and have no trouble sleeping. If you are however trying to have peace and quite this certainly isn't the lodging for you.

Yelp
WARNING: this hotel may cause extreme distress. Easily the most uncomfortable I have felt in a hotel in my life. Have never felt so taken advantage of. My stay at the Grafton Capital was almost decent (I turned a blind eye to the outdated nature of the hotel, terrible night life sounds, broken appliances, heating issues, and wifi issues) but being that my party was accosted by the staff at the hotel I simple can not in good faith give this establishment even an average rating. Never once during my reservation process was I asked how many people would be staying in the room so I was appalled when at 10:30 in the evening on my last night at the hotel someone pounded on my door and demanded that I go downstairs to be yelled at for having too many people in my room (3 people rather than 2). I was appalled at how disrespectful and blatantly rude the staff at the front desk was to me. I was accused of being deceitful and told that someone in my party had to find somewhere else to stay for the night. I had no idea that having three people in my room was a problem and when I tried explaining that to Laura at the front desk, she continually told me that I was wrong and was very insolent toward me. After asking to speak to the manager we were charged an additional fee and I walked away from this hotel the next day feeling EXTREMELY taken advantage of. The way that the staff conducted themselves was nothing short of bullying and absolutely NOT how someone who works in the hospitality industry should act toward a customer. I will definitely not be recommending this hotel to anyone and hope that they train their staff better to handle situations.
