"A luxurious hotel option for those staying in Salt Lake City, offering traditionally decorated rooms, an indoor pool, and 24-hour room service. It's a sister property to Snowbasin Resort." - Lydia Mansel Lydia Mansel Lydia Mansel is a writer with more than eight years of experience editing and writing for both brands and online publications—with a particular focus on travel, fashion, and lifestyle. The Grand America is kind of a confusing experience. My wife and I stayed a couple of nights for our honeymoon before flying out to our other destination. The parts of the hotel open to the public are really spectacular, the main lobby, the music, the decor, artwork, statues, furniture, etc. really awesome. The rooms on the other hand are a little strange. I believe the colonial American vibe is fully intentional, but the rooms have a strange layout, are somewhat cheaply decorated (or the original furniture has seen much wear and tear), and somewhat outdated. The AC intake vents in the room are incredibly loud, and the lime-green striped wallpaper is not really pleasing to the eye. The view is really pretty awful on 3 of the 4 sides of the hotel. Not Grand America’s fault, but if you’re not in a north facing room that actually directly faces the city, Salt lake is actually pretty ugly, the weird tile roof of the grand, corporate warehouses and old homes are all that there is to see out those windows. I was surprised to find this out on the 23rd floor facing east. Definitely wouldn’t pay extra for that view in the future. I loved the food, and the valet parking was nice. Immediate access to the freeway made things very easy as well. I think all in all, I would probably recommend booking a room at the little America for much less, and then enjoying what the grand has to offer without having to stay there. The spa is great, the shops are cool, the food is delicious. The rooms are weird. The view is a gamble.

The moment I stepped into the lobby, I was struck by the stunning architecture, elegant decor, and warm, inviting atmosphere. The staff were exceptional - friendly, attentive, and genuinely dedicated to ensuring my stay was nothing short of perfect. The rooms were spacious, beautifully appointed, and offered breathtaking views of the city. It was one of the best hotels I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying at.

A BEAUTIFUL HOTEL|The Grand America is truly one of the finest hotels I hve every enjoyed. It is a magnificent building, beautiful in design and decor, and it is so well maintained that it looks brand new despite its age of 22 years. Their food service facilities are excellent, varied in menu and food offerings, and we always enjoyed excellent service and attention. The hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas. Throughout the hotel, the employees were friendly and most helpful. ||We were visiting the city for a brief "pre-Christmas" visit including two concerts and a wonderful dinner in the Grand America main restaurant. Again, great service.|Our room was spacious and well appointed, and again, it looked like it was brand new -- well decorated and well maintained. ||The hotel is a bit expensive, but we will always stay there when visiting Salt Lake again. It is well worth the price.|Warren from Aspen, Colorado

My family and I stayed over Christmas and it fantastic. The room was clean! The indoor pool was nice and heated. Also not crowded. The location is great as you feel secluded from the city but at the same time not far at all. The accommodations were great and everything was explained clearly by the front desk. They even have maps for you. If you order food from outside the hotel, be prepared to meet your delivery person in the lobby as they don’t have access to the elevators. The hotel shocked us Christmas morning as they gifted our family with a filled stocking!! Super cool. Overall This was a 10/10 stay, and I can’t wait to do it again!

My partner and I are from the east coast and had no idea about this hotel but we have been blown away from the moment we arrived! Honestly, tops some of our stays at the Four Seasons and at a much more reasonable price tag! Every single person we have dealt with goes above and beyond. The room service amazing, the decor and ambiance, beautiful. Our housekeeping keeps the room beyond spotless. We did get massages at the spa and that was the only part we found mediocre for the price, the techs just didn’t seem very experienced and mine had bracelets on that were basically scratching my skin the whole time. The gym is newer and immaculate. The lit up trees in the courtyard magical. We loved the musical selections in the lobby as well as the bakeries and restaurants. Truly of the best hotel experiences we have ever had!!!! If we come back to Salt Lake there is no place else we would stay! Thank you for a special and memorable trip!

Walked through the main floor late one night to take a dump in one of those premium main floor bathrooms. 5 star experience. Unfortunately the coffee they'd left out for public consumption was like warm and stale. 3 star experience. Overall 4 star experience. If the coffee had been fresh at 10 PM I'd give it a 5 star for sure. I recommend staying here if for no other reason than to use the lobby bathrooms. Those bathrooms are seriously fantastic. The last time I stayed here I didn't even use the en-suite bathroom. Every morning after my coffee I made a point to go downstairs and blow up their public porcelain. I really can't say enough about those toilets.

We are local and we booked the fabled “Afternoon Tea” for my twin daughters’ 16th birthday. We brought the girls and a few friends. The setting was very quaint and charming, but the value was outrageously bad. I left feeling completely ripped off. For almost $60/person (incl. tax and tip), we got a cup of tea or hot chocolate, a few small finger sandwiches, and a few bite-sized desserts. I had hoped the experience would at least be a light lunch for the kids, but hundreds of dollars later and it was hardly even a snack. So we paid $60/each to sit in a little lounge area sipping on tea. Honestly, it was such a scam. I will certainly never do that again, and I warn everyone else from doing it. Such a rip off.

Google
We did their grand afternoon tea for my birthdays it was absolutely lovely. I felt like I was in an episode of bridgerton. The waiter was super kind, great selections of tea and their little sandwiches where super yummy. If your doing their tea they cover your parking under the hotel. Would return

Yelp
Finally had the opportunity to stay at the Grand America after living in Utah my entire life and it was magical! Even walking into the front lobby was beautiful. They have pretty chandeliers, harp music being played and it just feels classy. The staff was all very friendly and helpful. Our entire room and bathroom were beautiful and spacious. I loved the tub and they even had comfy robes and slippers for us to use. We were also pleasantly surprised to be greeted with fresh desserts from the bakery. We enjoyed the night at the hotel bar. Service was a little slow and they close fairly early, but it was a good drink and good vibe. Very nice experience! We also got a couples massage at the Grand America spa and it was amazing! We had nice robes, heated tables, rain room (15 head shower), dessert and got to choose our lotion/oil scent. The masseuse was very nice and listened to what I had requested. It was a very relaxing experience. They also have a sauna/hot tub to enjoy as well as personal showers and lockers. Overall great experience! I felt so classy and loved getting to dress up. Definitely a must stay if you're in Utah, gotta try it at least once!

Yelp
ADA rooms are falsely advertised to have bath tubs but they do not. Their website's first sentence describing the room ADA executive suite I booked literally starts "From the depth of the Italian marble soaking tub..." and even shows pictures of the marble bathtubs with extra grab bars to get in and out. But it's a lie. The rooms do NOT have bath tubs. I attached the pictures of the listings that show their false advertising. I asked them about this and the front desk person said "every room in the hotel has a bath tub." I said he must be just as surprised as I was to learn they don't and showed him that room 184 has no bath tub. He then quickly said he'll check into and get back to me. What did I get? A voicemail from a manager saying "we're sorry you were confused." Service is poor, descriptions of the property are dishonest, and there are no continental breakfast options. When you go to the restaurant for breakfast, you can expect an hour+ long wait. When you go to the smaller coffee shop, they are out of stock on everything you want. I literally had to go to my fourth option, a muesli which wasn't too bad, after my first three options were all out. Do you want a hotel that lies about its property to disabled patrons, gaslights them, and where breakfast is nearly impossible to get on a Sunday morning? You've found it. The Grand America.

Alana Z.

Yelp
I'm absolutely obsessed with this hotel. It is exactly as its namesake! It is grand. This hotel boasts gorgeous crystal chandeliers, gold framed artwork, a tea room, a harpist, a spa, and best of all, huge rooms fit for a queen with your very own soaking tub (in addition to a separate shower). I am always impressed by the friendliness of the staff here and love every room I stay in. The beds have been mostly comfy, the room views are spectacular, and the gym offers enough to get a good workout in. I love the cafe and bakery as well as the attached restaurant, Laurel. Big fan of the coffee, gelato, and pastries! Also highly recommend experiencing the tea room tea time! It's so fun and makes you feel so sophisticated, lol. Couldn't brag more on this beautiful hotel. I love my stays here!

Yelp
What a Grand and Classy hotel! Check in was very friendly, shared info about the hotel. The rooms are spacious and we had a great view over looking the courtyard side that was lit up at night! We went to the lobby bar to get a drink, the UT laws states that you have to purchase something to eat if you are having a drink. So we went to The Gibson Lounge in the hotel around the corner, there you can sit and have a drink without buying food. The Drinks were very good. In the morning I went to the coffee shop called Bonner Vie, a place to get coffee and pastry. If you have young kids, check out the cool Toy Store just off the lobby. It was a very nice place to stay, just beware, if you valet a car it is expensive,$100 a night.

Yelp
Stunning hotel in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City with clean rooms, incredible service, and yummy food and drinks. Walking distance to the Mormon Temple and Complex. The decor and ambience of the hotel is very ornate but tastefully done. Staying here feels like a step back in time in all the best ways. My room was clean, and also gigantic!! My bathroom felt so luxurious with a gigantic bathtub, separate wall in shower, and a dressing room with separate vanity. Each room is equipped with an iron and a steamer, plus robes and slippers, and a keurig machine. The staff is incredible, kind, helpful, and accommodating. I stayed here for a conference and couldn't be more pleased with my entire experience. I only wish I had extra time to stay before or after the conference and enjoy the hotel and amenities like the spa, pool, or afternoon tea.

Maureen W.

Yelp
Downtown salt lake city's only 5 star hotel. The bathroom........ I don't know if every room has a bathroom fit for a King and Queen but ours did!!! The service is above and beyond. Beds were comfy. If you are lucky enough to get into the brunch buffet on the weekend, do it!!!!! Yes it's pricey, but there isn't any other place in SLC serving up what they do, at least for now. And if you are staying here, you might as well splurge a lil. Also if you have time get some macaroons or other dessert delights from the French pastry shop, so delish.

Neil V.

Yelp
The grand America is always where I stay any time I travel through Salt Lake City. I love the location as well as the quality. Service is great from the moment you arrive . For me I feel like Kevin from home alone is this luxurious hotel .

Matt N.

Yelp
Beautiful luxurious hotel in the heart of Salt Lake City. This hotel is beautiful decorated for Christmas. Your room will be large, clean and comfortable. The bed was very soft. Large garden tub and stand up shower. Beautiful garden area. Large outdoor pool plus indoor pool. Hot tube and nice gym. The Spa is luxurious and relaxing with hot sauna and steam room. Must go.

Yelp
Having High Tea on Mother's Day was such a great treat. An expensive one for tea and crumpets, but being with family in a beautiful setting was lovely. We expected a more luxurious experience given the steep price of the event. However, our group of six was seated awkwardly near the entrance, with nowhere to place our knees except sideways by an inadequate coffee table. The discomfort we endured only added to our frustration. The bite-size sandwiches were dry and had hardly any filling, which was scarce. Definitely not worth the price of admission. While the Grand America is lovely, this event doesn't live up to its potential. It's better to visit on a regular day and have a more enjoyable and affordable tea experience.

Molly Z.

Yelp
The best of the best! We had an incredible stay here! From the service, to the rooms, to the spa, to the afternoon tea--everything was perfect! We could've stayed here all weekend without leaving. We thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon tea. The tea sandwiches and desserts were absolutely delicious and the live music was such a nice touch. The pre natal massage I received was one of the best I've ever had. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend staying here if you're visiting SLC!

Xin H.

Yelp
Being a fan of Scandinavian design, this hotel wasn't initially my cup of tea. However, after a few drinks and taking the art tour, which featured the Louis XVI clock and some captivating French oil paintings with masterful use of light and shadow, I was won over by its authenticity. The grandiose touch, like the chandeliers above the toilets in the lobby bathroom, suddenly seemed just right. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay." Plus comfortable bed Nice bath tub lined with marbles. A bit over the top decal Nice French bakery

Soraya R.

Yelp
This hotel is located south of Downtown Salt Lake City. It's conveniently located and has a train station right in front that can even drop you at the airport. I have never stayed in big rooms like the ones here. They are comfortable and includes a living room space. Loved the bathrooms with shower and tub. The decor is spectacular. I felt I was in the Titanic. In the lobby there is tea time activity every afternoon. I went for a conference and the meeting spaces were very nice. They have the biggest ballrooms in the entire city.

Pamela F.

Yelp
Absolutely exquisite! We love classic old hotels and The Grand America not only did not disappoint but completely delivered. We visited in early November and they had already transitioned to the holiday season and it was pretty magical. From the epic decorations throughout ~ including the various interior window scenes ~ to the massive gingerbread mansion under construction, no detail was overlooked. Our room was fabulous and super comfortable. Food options were delicious. Afternoon tea was good but not the best ever (still nice). Sunday brunch had a generous array of delicious bites. Staffing was friendly and accommodating, which made up for the few times it was more than sluggish. Would come back in a heartbeat and look forward to doing so!

Heliana M.

Yelp
Beautiful gorgeous venue. It felt like the Taj Mahal. Such a beautiful grand hotel. We visited during our stay at Salt Lake city for Christmas and it was such a magical time. We spent some time roaming around the hotel looking at all the decorations, hearing the live harp music and getting dessert and hot chelate at their Cafe. We also spotted the giant gingerbread house but as soon as I read the recipe I felt very sad all that food was wasted to make it and u can't even eat it :( We returned in the evening to look at the lights. Gorgeous beautiful place to visit when in the city!

Meghan B.

Yelp
I was here for 3 nights for a conference last week and had a spectacular time. This hotel might just be the nicest hotel in all of SLC. It is close to everything you need to see Downtown, and the amenities are insane. The hotel is huge, has multiple shops and a spa, a coffee shop and bars and a restaurant. The pools are beautiful, the service is excellent and the room was fantastic. I was on the 3rd floor in a suite and it was amazing. Comfortable bed, tons of space, and a super luxurious bathroom. I would absolutely stay here again.

Nycole R.

Yelp
The Grand America is the epitome of luxury and over-the-top opulence which is displayed in the granite floors & columns, live music in the foyer and the staff ready to provide white glove assistance at every turn. The gardens are also worthy of a visit-I'd recommend dressing up and bringing a camera to take advantage of the beautiful photo backgrounds. Self-parking is available, or you can opt to valet if you prefer. There are onsite restaurants, bars and shopping-everything upscale. Stop by the Lobby Lounge in the afternoon for coffee and a variety of music-the day I visited there was a harp player-it absolutely made the ambience perfect. Guest rooms are large and comfortable with a Victorian type décor. Nothing feels modern or swanky, but more like "old money".....or what my grandma might have wanted to decorate her house like, if she had gobs of cash. My only complaint would be that I found several little bugs near the window of my room. They didn't bother me, but I was surprised to see them. I guess even insects like a little luxury now and then.

Joan M.

Yelp
5* Opulence abounds here at The Grand America hotel. A stunning property located in the heart of Salt Lake City. It has a very old feel to it but was built around 2001 prior to the Winter Olympics. From the moment you pull up to the entrance you are in awe at its grandeur. The lobby area is so spacious with antiques, marble everywhere and gorgeous tapestries adorning the walls. It gave me a very much European old hotel vibe but in a grander scale. They have three restaurants with hars onsite and a gorgeous coffee shop. Lots of cute shops to browse. We were located on the 12th floor in a huge room (over 600sq ft) overlooking the city and it had a step out balcony. The bathroom stunning once again with marble fixtures and gold like faucets. The experience exudes pampering and luxury. We loved it. If you are on the fence about booking here.. go for it.. you won't regret it.

Yelp
This is an incredible hotel - classic , timeless with glamorous features !!! Here with my 7 month old and it's super baby friendly ! We were able to check in 1.5 hour early with all the baby amenities in room - tub, a cute bath set for babies , bottle warmer , pack and play with clean cover , humidifier . Our room is so nice with attached living suite that had enough space for play time . We loved our breakfast! So yum ! The Jou Jou store is so timeless and cutest toy store ever ! The spa was amazing! Literally this place was amazing and overall service was 10/10 ! Highly highly recommend !

Roz M.

Yelp
This is a beautifully built hotel! Take a walk and discover what all is inside besides the huge bathroom in the rooms! I think I was impressed the most with the architecture and furniture in the lobby area.

Charles A.

Yelp
We had a short but amazing stay! The food was awesome, and when we weren't done with our appetizers when our mains were ready, they didn't just put them under a heating lamp, they remade them. Our room was massive 880 sq ft. With an all marble bath room, and separate seating area outside the bedroom. Downsides- it's an old hotel.. the only usb plug was on the alarm clock which wasn't working so we had to have an engineer come up and replace it with another so we could charge our devices. Also, I get tipping valet is expected but when you self park and pay $600 a night, you'd think parking would be included, well it's not; add another $20+ to your room rental each night to account for this unexpected charge.

Linda S.

Yelp
We stayed at this hotel 13 years ago and it was indeed a 5 star Hotel. This visit, however was less than elegant. We stayed 3 nights and the room was only cleaned once. Last time they had turn down service with a tray on the bed that had a card with the next day's weather and other info. Chocolates, a towel folded like an adorable elephant... Really posh and special. This time... Nothing. The menu selections at their restaurant are not vegetarian friendly. We ate across the street at the Little America. We might even stay there next time . UPDATE: The hotel still has turn-down service, complimentary... You just have to ask for it. My rating stays. You shouldn't have to ask for something like that. They didn't get to our room because it was a very busy day that Wednesday. Sounds to me like they're understaffed

Brianne C.

Yelp
I've stayed at the Grand America twice and also attended a variety of events there. The food is always incredible, and for atmosphere, the tea parties cannot be beat! They are so fun and tasty. I was especially impressed with the service I received last weekend! We ordered food poolside, and the pool attendant was very responsive and helpful. And when my husband dropped our baby daughter off for the night, the staff immediately offered her a complimentary stuffed animal. My only complaints are the food service menu is not quite as diverse as it used to be (I ordered mussels off it in 2020, and they were divine) and that management could be more proactive in letting guests know when facilities will be closed. My mother-in-law booked the hotel for us in large part because she wanted to use the indoor-outdoor pool, and she wasn't informed the pool would be closed until shortly before our stay.

Kim A.

Yelp
The hotel grounds are absolutely beautiful! Great views of the snow-capped mountains. Attentive and friendly staff. Spacious rooms with plenty of amenities. The hotel grounds are stunning. It is immaculate and luxurious, and it makes a grand statement in the downtown area of SLC. The rooms are a bit dated, but I can tell they were going for an old vintage decor. However, I think a modern vintage would have completed the decor nicely. However, it doesn't take away from the wonderful stay I had at Grand America. I came here for a conference. Even though It was a large group of us, the staff handled the check-in process smoothly and seamlessly. They greeted us with a smile and were friendly. I requested a room where I could view the mountains. The gentleman gave me a very spacious room (785) with a beautiful view. I made a request, and he went above and beyond to make it happen. The rooms are spacious, and they include lots of amenities. My room had a tub, stand up shower, luxury robes, slippers, irons, clothing steamer, soaps, blow dryer, refrigerator, snacks, keurig, desk, couch, balcony, and much more. The location is prime. It's near malls, shopping, bars, and lots of entertainment. The city train is free, and it can take you almost anywhere you need to be. Google Maps is your best friend. When I return to SLC, I will definitely return. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, the spacious room, the amenities the room had to offer, the friendly staff, and the prime location.

A C.

Yelp
The absolute best accommodations west of Colorado. Be sure to get a suite. The braised short ribs via room service are the best I've ever had. Also, room service wine is a lovely option. :)

Kati P.

Yelp
My favorite hotel downtown Slc . Easy parking garage . Great breakfast . Good views . One of the better hotel spas

Jafey A.

Yelp
This hotel is beautiful and the bars and restaurants are top notch. The room was clean but I wish they would have told us there would not be room service for each night (it is stated in the contract, I didn't read it which is my fault, but I would have preferred a verbal heads up at check in). The hot tub was broken half of the stay which was a bummer because the indoor pool area was a major reason we chose to stay here. The staff was really our main concern here though, it was really hit or miss. There was one gal at the front desk that was outstanding, the evening bartender at the lobby bar was great, and the reception desk of the restaurant was great, but beyond that the staff did not appear to want to help. Spending $400 a night I would think its fair to expect to be treated nicely on a consistent basis.

Erica P.

Yelp
Had a delightful experience for 'The Witches' Halloween-themed afternoon tea! Service with Blake was excellent, he was truly wonderful to be around and brought a bit of Hollywood class. My friends Jon, Joseph and I enjoyed the White Petal, Black Lavender and British Brunch teas alongside that amazing 3-tier tower of delicacies! Fantastic sandwiches (the roast beef and curry chicken salad sandwiches OMG!), oreo macarons, pumpkin mousse cookies, madelines, the scones...the berries with cream - so much decadence! $49.95 but definitely worth it. Be sure to use self-park and it will get comped, the valet is not complimentary for tea diners!

Catherine M.

Yelp
I came here for afternoon tea by myself and was quickly given a table right looking out on the garden. The service was superb and I felt right at home even if I wasn't in a larger group. The berry chantilly was light and the scone with the three extras (jam, cream, and lemon something?) was great. The tea sandwiches and desserts were so nice and a lot for one person so I took some home. I particularly loved the steak sandwich and the ham one. My waitress was very nice and always gave me hot water refills along with cold water refills. I never waited long for anything and she recommend the house chai which ended up being amazing. She even offered to take a picture of me which was very nice. I was there celebrating the life of my late grandmother, who would have loved such an exquisite tea set up and it meant a lot that the spot accommodated me and the service was so good.

Loren R.

Yelp
Holy! Very very upscale. Impeccable furnishings, room, and service. Quiet Friendly Comfy I have no idea how my company scored me a room here. I feel like a homeless person in a Hilton hotel. Very posh. No complaints. If anything. It's so nice I'm afraid to touch or use anything.

Sandy B.

Yelp
It looks like the average room price is about $350/night. For all the amenities available and the room size, that is a great deal. We get to stay for work, so that makes it a steal. LOL. The staff is friendly, attentive, and squared away. You can bank on them doing what they say they will do, and they are always on time. There is a spa, restaurants, a speak easy, and little stores, on site. They have a nice gym and outdoor pool. The room was spacious. We had a kitchenette, our own laundry, living room, jetted bathtub. It was great. And very clean. In appearance. There was a KFC box in the trash can in the kitchenette. That was not ours. But I could see how it could get missed. You can walk safely in any direction. Historical sites, good food, shopping, entertainment. Your pick.

Heather H.

Yelp
My friends and I chose to celebrate our Galentine's Day celebration with Afternoon Tea at The Grand America Hotel... and it did not disappoint! Everything from the service and ambience (complete with a live piano player) to the yummy hors d'oeuvres was perfect! Would highly recommend:)

Jason K.

Yelp
Awesome hotel all rooms are suites. Coffee machine, clothes steamer, extra blanket and pillows and ice machine on every floor. Could use a little updating. It has that old school feel to it. And the technology is ok. They do have google chromecast and a fully stocked mini bar.

Chanele R.

Yelp
This is a gorgeous hotel with an old world feel that is combined with top-notch service. It definitely feels a little "vintage," but that is part of the charm. The hotel is sparkling clean, the beds are comfortable, and the balconies are extra charming. I stayed in a 2 queen room on the 17th floor. The room was huge and very comfortable. We had a balcony with a sliding door, and it was wonderful to have the sliding door open and fresh air filling the room. The bathroom was spacious with a separate changing area. Everything you could need was there (except booze in the minibar, but this is Utah). The staff is really top notch. Everyone we came in contact with was incredibly friendly. We had a slight issue with our showerhead, and the front desk was so eager to accommodate us. They even found maintenance on a Sunday afternoon to our surprise. The only time we did not have the best service was at afternoon tea, but that did not diminish my overall impression of the hotel. There are a lot of great things to explore in this hotel, too, including the normal things like restaurants (Laurel is really good) and a bar (Gibson Lounge is truly a hidden gem) to a toy store!

Lisa D.

Yelp
Luxury. Walking into the lobby it feels like a palace. Gorgeous. One of the nicer hotels I've ever stayed. Has everything you need. Fancy restaurant with European influences (the pizza was genuine Italian style). French Coffee bar. An adorable candy and toy store! The lobby bar with noon tea and a harpist, at night live music with wine and appetizers. Indoor pool, outdoor pool, gardens, spa, workout room, room service. The staff was professional, attentive and courteous. We reserved two adjoining rooms that was perfect for our little family. The rooms are very spacious, elegant, clean, comfy. The bathroom is big and fancy with a large additional vanity room. Room service breakfast was divine! Great views of the city. Within proximity of everything downtown city center. I will always stay here when I go SLC.

Nansi R.

Yelp
Went in there this afternoon for my birthday tea. Even though we were running late for our reservation they were able to accommodate us and seat us immediately. Upon entering the restaurant there's a woman playing christmas music with the harp, sets the christmas mood for the nutcracker theme. The tea selection wasn't as ample as other places I've been. I ordered the black lavender which was pretty good. The first thing they brought out were the strawberries with cream followed by the scones, lastly the sandwich tray with more desserts. They brought out a complimentary birthday dessert, which I haven't ate yet. they validate parking. The ballet dancers were walking around greeting people and offering to take pictures, which was a nice touch. It was a nice experience, but I feel that the tea selection could be bigger and the sandwiches were just OK. The scones and strawberry dessert were good. Overall, it's a nice experience! We were able to walk around the hotel and saw the gingerbread house. It was underwhelming it didn't feel magical, I was hoping for a gingerbread village or something more Christmasy, not the Utah State capital

Justine M.

Yelp
If you go to dance around the fairy garden lights, go inside for the snow globe walk. Don't try to eat the life sized ginger bread house. You get banned or something if you get caught... I also heard they have good live music and an afternoon tea event. I'll likely go back to check all of that out soon.

Kate L.

Yelp
Beautiful rooms and hotel. Very nice. Here's the frustrations: There is a small indoor pool that's very hard to locate and one small jacuzzi for thousands of people to share. It's extremely loud and crowded. There is a large outdoor pool with multiple hot tubs that they close in winter. Utah is cold many of the months so it sits unused. Why not heat at least the hot tubs in winter? We tried to go to breakfast in the morning and it was all booked because they allow people not staying in the hotel to make reservations. Little America was also booked or had a 2-hour wait. I think it's silly that someone who pays quite a bit to stay at the hotel isn't given precedence over those not staying there. Or at least reserve some spots for hotel guests. Third, not once, but twice, two different groups of hotel employees rang our rooms doorbell at 9 AM and 10 AM (checkout is 11 AM) to ask us when we were going to leave! That seems absolutely absurd to me. So unprofessional. Also if I had been in the shower and couldn't answer the door, would they have just walked in?! The second person we asked why they kept doing that and she said, "We have no way of knowing when you're going to check out." That seems like the worst system in the world for a hotel, especially nice one. How about looking in the key box and see which room keys have been turned in or wait until 11? I get it's the holidays and it's busy, but those things really impacted our feelings about ever staying there again. They did give us a $50 credit to use for breakfast. Which was nice, but we couldn't use it at the Little America either as it was a 2 hour wait. They ended up taking it off our room. Our stay felt very rushed and crowded which was unfortunate for an anniversary stay. I likely wouldn't stay here again, for sure not in winter.

Yelp
Very cool environment. Not many hotels are this elegant. It has a historic feel to it. The rooms are super clean.

Yelp
Probably one of the most beautiful Hotels in the salt lake city area, my BF Ben and I absolutely loved our stay. I love that the place feels cozy and relaxing , I can sit in the lobby on soft comfortable chairs for hours and enjoy the beauty of the inside architecture. We stayed in RM 1577 and our view was grand and beautiful Unfortunately I can not give this place a 5 star , there are a few negatives. - pool hours are horrible they close at 10pm , they would literally kick us out of the pool every day, not just us many other ppl. - We had Breakfast outside , none of the heaters were on. - we had to deal with a few staff members that were not nice or professional, with the amount of money you pay to stay at this hotel, definitely would be nice to not have to deal with staff that are NOT professional. Over all I enjoyed this place.

Yelp
Grand America is definitely grand! This weekend was apparently a busy weekend for them. I wanted to do valet parking as I didn't want to take the time looking for underground parking, which I probably should have, as the Valet only had one person working and it was backed up. So you basically had the same person taking the cars and getting the cars! Ridiculous as they should have 2-3 people working valet especially on a weekend and new year's weekend. We went for Tea Time and it was grand! My tea cup was dirty so I had asked for a new one. The atmosphere was amazing. Tea selection was great along with the sandwiches and treats. They don't refill your tea pot, so you're basically paying $50 for one small tea pot. The night time valet was worst then when we got there, again one valet person working and he was running around like a chicken with his head cut off and speeding through with customers car. Don't know how that was okay, cuz if he would have wrecked customers car that wouldn't have been so great for the hotel! And my car was brand new. So if anything would have happened, it wouldn't have been a great night for anyone! Overall great experience at the Grand other than they need to have the Valet parking with 2-3 employees working!

Yelp
The Grand America is the only five star hotel in Salt Lake City but the rooms are in need of an update. I stayed in an executive suite that had a king bedroom with a separate sitting room. The decor and carpets are showing their age and the balcony door from the sitting room wouldn't open. I thought the bed was pretty comfortable, but not quite on par with other five star properties. My favorite part of the stay was using the tub and shower. I loved the high water pressure and was able to enjoy a bath within a few short minutes unlike other tubs that take forever to fill. Due to our limited time, I didn't get to check out the pool or fitness room, but the in-room dining for breakfast was decent.

Yelp
Driving through and wanted a safe and secure place to stay while moving my truck load of items. I recommend the valet parking! I did not use this and was smack downtown. Due to the hotels security system they were able to locate a stolen tote from the back of my truck. The staff was friendly and great to work with. The restaurant and coffee was a great addition and we didn't have to travel anywhere. Thanks again "Grand America"!!!!

Yelp
This is a review of the afternoon tea. Ambiance is a 5. There's a harp playing and the hotel is very nice, it's the perfect place for afternoon tea. Service was maybe a 2 or 3. They were very nice and attentive but don't know how to properly deal with issues. One of our teacups was very dirty so we had to ask for it to be replaced and then one of the cucumber sandwiches had a hair embedded in it. They replaced that as well but never addressed either incident. Food was a 2. We enjoyed the dandelion chai and the hot chocolate but didn't particularly like any of the food. The bread, scones, and madeleine were all a bit stale/dry, some sandwiches didn't have enough filling, etc. And I didn't expect real clotted cream, of course, but their version was very whipped? It was disappointing, I've gotten better at Whole Foods. My favorites were the strawberries & cream and the cucumber sandwich. I noted we were there for my sister's birthday so they brought out a nice plate with a mousse cake, candle, and "Happy Birthday" written in chocolate. It was a very nice touch~ 5 stars for that.

Yelp
This past Saturday we took my grandma to tea for her birthday and Cody and Sidney were amazing, so sweet to us and it was a busy day but they made us feel like the only ones in the room. We'll be seeing them very shortly!

Yelp
This place is so beautiful for the holidays and there is so much to do! Especially looking at their holiday windows. We love staying here when we come to visit Utah.

Yelp
This is by far the best and fanciest hotel in Salt Lake City. I believe all their rooms are mini suites. Very comfortable and super clean with a great attention to details. The bathtub is definitely a must try, and the water pressure in the shower is outstanding. The food prices can be a little expensive but you get what you pay for. They have a great customer service and great Xmas decorations.

Yelp
The hotel is beautiful. The service is great. The decorations are beautiful. I've been there for a million weddings, conferences, and even my own wedding night. For years I have thought that it was everything one would expect from a nice hotel. I could not have been more wrong. When I took my baby there to meet a friend for tea and look at the Christmas windows, I learned that there are ZERO facilities for mothers and babies. Seriously nothing. Not even a changing table. Roadside gas stations are better equipped to deal with children than the Grand America hotel. I have traveled all over the world with my baby and never have I ever found zero accommodations. When I walked into the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Center for a speaking role last summer, no fewer than three employees approached me within the first five minutes to tell me where the nursing room and changing rooms were (separate places which was not ideal, but still). Airports have mothers' rooms with sinks and rocking chairs in private spaces. Some conference centers have multiple rooms that moms can schedule in-advance that even have refrigerators for storing milk. But everywhere I have been in the whole world has at least had a changing table. I have never before found a bathroom without one. Seven years ago I planned the World Congress of Families at that very hotel. If I had had a baby myself before then to know that I was leaving all nursing mothers and babies in diapers up a creek, I never *ever* would have held it there. After thousands of weddings and conferences in Utah, with the highest fertility rate in the nation, I am dumbfounded that this omission has not yet been rectified. What on earth have all of those mothers been doing for all of these years? If Earl Holding was still alive today I would have called him personally to address the situation. In his absence, I hope that some manager will see this review and rectify this omission. If you don't want to stick a changing table onto a marble wall then fine. The back bathroom is large enough to separate out a space for a proper changing table, and there are plenty of small conference rooms on the second floor that nobody ever uses which could easily be converted into a mothers' lounge.
