"The Grand Daddy Hotel You might hear Long Street before you see it—this bustling artery is the heart of Cape Town , home to some of the city’s most popular restaurants, bars, and boutiques, all within a few blocks’ radius of the Grand Daddy Hotel. Built in 1895, this landmark building has been transformed into one of the city’s quirkier havens, though it somehow manages to walk the fine line between campy and classy. It’s a spot that’s beloved by tourists and locals alike (don’t be surprised to stumble onto a local fashion shoot in the gilded Daddy Cool bar). Behind the stately gray exterior lies a whimsical world: snuggle into crisp white sheets in one of the 26 colorful rooms or suites, or settle into a stylishly appointed Airstream in the rooftop trailer park. And speaking of the rooftop: there’s no better place to take in the view of Table Mountain presiding over the city."

This hotel has tons of ambience. I stayed in a regular room instead of the cute rooftop airstreams. It was quiet, clean with a comfortable bed even in the midst of the city. I enjoyed Long Street but do watch your back here for youthful panhandlers. Keep walking and no talking. Hotel staff keeps you informed and looks out for guests. Cozy restaurant/bar too!

stayed at the Grand Daddy Hotel for just one night after a two-week road trip across South Africa, and it was the perfect spot to decompress before my long flight back to the U.S. The vibe and decor are so fun and unique—there’s a real charm to the place, especially with the oldest elevator in the city adding a touch of vintage character. The rooftop was definitely a highlight! Great food, delicious drinks, and the bartender was playing upbeat music that totally elevated the atmosphere. I also loved that the hotel has two restaurants on-site—plenty of options without needing to venture far. Overall, I absolutely loved my stay. It was the ideal place to sleep, eat, regroup, and enjoy one last dose of Cape Town energy before heading home.

Stayed with my sister in May 2025 when we travelled to CPT for Ultra Music Festival. I loved the relaxed vibe on the rooftop, the room was cozy and comfy and I really enjoyed the breakfast. Room service is quick and the team was very friendly nd welcoming, always smiling. A huge shout-out to the restaurant staff who were attentive and kind. The locations is excellent - a short walk from the City-Sightseeing office on Long Street, lots of restaurants and fast food joints nearby, and a 10min drive from the Waterfront. I will DEFINITELY be staying again, maybe in the rooftop trailers next time!

Located on the upper side of Long Street in CBD area of Capetown is this over 125yer old boutique hotel. Very clean rooms and pleasant staff. Check in is quick. It's quite central and the V&A Waterfront area is only about 10min drive from the hotel. Good value for money also.

Wow. What an experience. We had our son's 21st birthday celebration at Grand Daddy Boutique Hotel last night. The experience that we had was absolutely amazing. Evans and the staff really went out of their way to make our event special, they were very accommodating and assisted us throughout. The venue, the food, the interaction and service was really top class. Thank you to Evans and staff for making our son's 21st birthday celebration so memorable.

From the staff, to the room, to the convenience of getting around, I enjoyed my time at the Grand Daddy. My room was clean and quiet enough, bed comfortable, good WiFi throughout the hotel (that I needed for work and personal), and breakfast was delicious. I would recommend a stay here as I will come back on my next visit to Cape Town

I hosted my 40th birthday at the Granddaddy hotel this past weekend and it was a HUGE success, thanks to Evans and the team who were all hands on deck! From the planning to last minute additional requests which Evans met without hesitation. The only let down was the food (chicken livers had more sausage than actual livers, the haloumi salad had small bits of rubbery haloumin and the chef burnt all the lamb chops orders save mine, which was dry and unseasoned when it arrived), and limited MCC and wine selection. Other than that, the service and attention to detail were top notch. My milestone birthday will continue to be memorable, all thanks to the passion and dedication displayed by Evans and his team. Bravo, guys!

We were booked for two nights, Friday and Saturday. We were in one of the Airstream caravans on the roof top. ||Friday started of well, the staff was friendly and helpfull throughout the weekend. ||Unfortunately, after being out for most of the day, we went back for a quite afternoon rest, before we where going to go out again the evening. Only to find a DJ party had set up right outside our room. The music was loud, so where the people attending the party. (Video attached) ||The DJ left at 10pm but the noisey people carried on well after that. ||A real dissapointment. ||Also worth noting that the Airstream caravans are very low. I am 1,94m and cannot stand up straight anywhere in the bathroom and only in the middle of the caravan.
