Accommodation review only. I booked and stayed in a 'king balcony room 4'. The bed isn't a true king, its 2 single bases and mattresses pushed together. Both single mattresses are very very soft, I personally prefer something a little firmer and supportive. Window furnishings to the balcony need replacing, they are not able to be adjusted to fully close due to broken and missing components. Plus one side is not secure to the frame causing it to fall when the balcony door is opened and closed. The shower water pressure surged between hot and cold every 3-5 seconds, it was impossible to get the water to a set temperature for comfort. The bathroom window doesn't have a lock, so the room is not entirely secure. There is no safety lock, latch or chain on the main bedroom door. The noise transference can be disruptive if an upstairs guest is heavy footed. The staff on checking in were very pleasant and helpful. The linen was clean, pillows comfortable and room bar fridge handy for my 2 night stay. Noise from downstairs bar and dinning activities were in no way disruptive, even on a Friday night.

Great room, comfy bed. Shower good. Quiet. Balcony lovely to sit and watch. Has character as old pubs do. Close to beach and ocean baths. We’d stay again. No onsite parking, there is metered parking or free parking a short walk away. Serve local gin and beer in bar

Great location, 5 minutes walk to beach and numerous cafes. Clean with a very large, comfortable bed. The pub was built in 1891 and some wonderful features including a grand staircase. Jason whom we met on arrival was both welcoming and accommodating.||No on-site parking but plenty of street parking close by. Towels are a tad small so bring your own if you like a large towel.

Booked 6 weeks ago, King Balcony Room 7, through Booking.com. On the day of check-in I was told I wouldn't be getting the balcony room, but a small internal twin room (as a courtesy I could have a double). This was completely unsuitable, but apparently my fault as I had booked through Booking.com who had passed it to Expedia. Too late for Booking.com to refund, but owner eventually gave cash refund ($18 less than we paid). Presumably he could re-rent the room out . Being the Friday of Mother's Day weekend booking other accommodation was difficult and expensive. As locals we had been to the Grand a lot and it is a good pub, but beware, you can be bumped and dealt with unsympathetically.

House red excellent. Convivial atmosphere. Really solid bowl of chips. Gossiped with Jacinta for a good hour. And she thought I was 21, which made my soul soar. Loved the history, the location and the other patrons. Really can't do better than here. Also impressed with Jac, handling a Sydney Karen beautifully.

Have heard of other travellers being bumped from their booking from various establishments, and now I know it can be true. Booked king balcony room 7 through booking.com 6 weeks ago . Today, a Friday, when due to check in have been told that because we did not book directly through them, have been moved to a small room with no balcony (which did not suit our needs )and that this was a courtesy. Booking.com did not allow a refund on the day so they offered a refund in cash. This refund was $18 less than what we paid, with no explanation. So we have had to find alternative accommodation on the day, (mother's day weekend) not easy or cheap. Beware.

Dropped in here for drink before dinner on a cold Tuesday night. What a beautiful old pub with lots if atmosphere & a cosy fire burning in the hearth. Staff were really friendly & welcoming.
