It was really nice here. Because I arrived during winter season, it was freezing 🥶. Every room had a heater. The rooms were quite spacious and clean. The waiters and employees were attentive and there was a singing club near the entrance that sang sometimes. The food was very tasty, I really enjoyed it. I do feel like the pasta isn’t as good as Cinnamon hotels. The hotel have high standards. Dress codes for dining and remember be polite and tidy.

This is called the grand because it is truly a grand experience, from its rich history, beautiful gardens, and exceptional service! ||Out stay was made unforgettable, thanks to the friendly welcome we received from Manager Kalhari. She made our check in process smooth and was very welcoming. She got to know that we had made a last minute reservation due to a disappointing experience somewhere else, so she took extra care to make our stay memorable.||She was very thoughtful to place us in a quiet wing and also gave us the chance to pick the preferred room. Adding a personal touch she took us for a tour around the hotel telling us untold stories and past history of this amazing property. We felt truly welcomed and special by these gestures.||Our stay was on a Friday night and it was a surprising treat to have a jazz and soul band that’s been performing at the grand over the years!||Food and service throughout the stay was excellent. From an extravagant high tea, to light bites, and grand breakfast, everything was served elegantly! ||We will come back again soon, next time with our parents to enjoy this beautiful property!

The Grand Hotel as always excellent. We have stayed in this place on many occasions. One occasion 35yrs ago. We brought our Son 5yr and Daughter 2 yrs.. Both played on the front lawn with their Sri Lankan cousins. I still have a video of it . 35yrs on, my daughter returned with her 3 kids and hubby. This place has a lot of history, great memories. Why do people keep coming back? It’s the opulence, the old world charm, the impeccable service, the great food. It’s one hotel worth a stay when you visit Sri Lanka. Thanks to the staff, you’ve made our 2 days stay very enjoyable back in April this year. It’s a hotel worth a visit . Booking shortly for December 2026. Planning on bringing our Son & Daughter and their families. Thank you Grand 👌

Went here for high tea only and so I cannot comment on the rooms. But it is a very nice hotel. The grounds are well maintained. The pool and exercise room look lovely. The bar is nice. Its a bit dim and tough to read the menu. There is a very nice hallway of photos of famous people who have stayed at the hotel. Very cool. Very interesting. High tea was an amazing experience. The teas were exceptional. I was full well afterwards and so I recommend this on an empty stomach and without any serious dinner plans.

This was without a doubt the best hotel during our tour of Sri Lanka. Despite being cold and wet outside, the warmth and hospitality at the Grand hotel kept us warm inside :)|The staff (especially Shiron, one of the butlers) were exceptionally friendly and couldn’t do more to make our experience special. The high tea, the breakfast and meals were all exceptional. We look forward to visiting again soon!

The Grand Hotel – Nuwara Eliya Had a great time here. The place has such a classic vibe and the garden area is perfect for winding down. Shoutout to Ruth at reception—she was super friendly and made things really easy from the moment I arrived. Appreciate the warm welcome!

This is truly one of the most romantic hotels in town. The garden is filled with beautiful flowers, creating a serene and intimate atmosphere that’s perfect for couples. We loved the room’s antique look, which added a rich and elegant charm to our stay. Everything about the place feels thoughtfully designed and full of character. Highly recommended for couples looking for a peaceful and memorable getaway.

Our high tea experience was nothing short of wonderful. The service was truly impeccable – every detail was handled with care and grace, and the staff were so kind, welcoming, and attentive throughout. It was the perfect way to spend a rainy afternoon, tucked away in comfort with delicious food and warm hospitality. The spread was generous and beautifully presented – a lovely mix of sweet and savoury treats, all fresh and flavourful. But what made it extra special was the live saxophonist playing during our visit. He had such a great energy, happily took song requests, and added a personal, joyful touch that really elevated the whole experience. It was relaxed, elegant, and felt like a real treat. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a serene, special moment during their trip – especially if the weather calls for something cosy and indulgent indoors.
