There are a couple of things you should know
- it is in a lively area however it’s not a traditional or Orginal Lebanese area at all, eg coffee starts at 5 dollar whereas a normal Lebanese breakfast or snack starts at 0.8 dollars
- You are surrounded by food places and places to drink, fancy and expensive
- The place is more a hotel than anything else: putting your clothes on the balcony is forbidden, bring food from outside is forbidden (you are supposed to eat in the restaurant downstairs)
- There is no chair, not in the room nor on the balcony - so sitting on the balcony is also not appreciated; to me this qualifies as hotel but not as hostel. This is also fine as long as you are aware
- No towels compared to all the other budget hostels I have been to in Lebanon, however free water
- In the first female dorm no door that can be locked, whoever is sleeping in the second dorm is lucky and has more privacy
- Next to the women’s dorm there is the washing machine. Again it would not be a problem if a) the dorm for women had a door b) the person who is constantly getting through the women’s bathroom would knock or c) they switch with the men’s dorm as it was always a man coming in for the laundry; in the picture you can see the green door to the stairway and the photo is taken out of the first women’s dorm; the black door is the one to the balcony where the washing machine is, right next to it in the right side it’s the the women’s bathroom - meaning if men come in they can directly see you in the shower
- Staff is general supportive if asked but very much focused and caring about the elderly women constantly drinking wine (no offense), during 7 days stay no proper proactive exchange on hidden gems, insights or recommendations, also I founded it weird that my roommate and I as long stay guests did not get invited for the pub quiz
- WiFi is not working at all in the female dorm, be aware - indeed a no go compared to the price per night
