We had a lovely time at the Great House Inn! The history of the hotel is interesting, and it’s been recently upgraded that it feels like a boutique 5 star hotel. The staff couldn’t have been nicer, and the location was perfect for 3 days in Belize City. We were able to arrange all of our tours to pick us up at the hotel and were walking distance from many good restaurants as well as downtown. There’s also a pool for relaxing in the afternoon. Definitely would stay here again!

A clean, convenient great value "Inn" surrounded by the sprawling Fort George Hotel, spa, convention center etc. It's a short walk from dining and the water taxis to the islands, safe neighborhood, quiet (ish, save for all the Fort George construction going on), with a refreshing small pool. In the off season, the deals here border on spectacular. No elevator and limited staff means you're lugging your own luggage, and we didn't get to try the breakfast cafe (off season), but the Old Caribbean charm makes this one a winner. Get to it before it is swallowed by mega hotel development (abandoned properties beside it suggest there'll be more building up around it).

Lovely Colonial Motel but … it’s very loud. Construction right across street for new hotel and they start early in morning and work late. Loud noises. Rooms not sound proof. Our last morning we were planning to be in room until 10am since our flight doesn’t leave until 12:30pm. Horrible grinding noise started right above us (our room) early guess they are buffering and remodeling here. Plus man talks loud all night into evening and can practically hear his conversation. Sounds like he is on phone with a woman. First night loud music from him. Maybe a hotel worker doing renovations. Rooms clean and lovely. Location great. But …. Too loud! No instructions on how to use TV.

We had a wonderfully relaxing time at the Great House. As long as there are no cruise ships in port, the location is extremely quiet. It is walking distance to many nice restaurants and parks. The staff were immensely helpful and engaging. The room was old world quaint but updated for modernity - a fantastic combination in my experience. For those that do not like the franchise grab of hotel accommodations and prefer a more personal touch: this is the place to stay in Belize City.

We stayed at the Great Hotel for three nights as part of a dive trip and thoroughly enjoyed the visit. The wooden building has an interesting history and is lovely to explore, and while it is an old building it has modern additions to the rear (swimming pool/breakfast cafe etc.).|We checked in and went to our large spacious room with a large bathroom, air con. & ceiling fans, TV, coffee, water and safe. All was clean and comfortable. The room was quiet at night and we have absolutely no issues (although there is a construction site opposite) which unfortunately is removing the ocean view but that did not disturb us at all.|The Ours cafe & lounge, on the ground floor provided a lovely breakfast with continental and some cooked alternatives. |The hotel has a few restaurants nearby but Belize City itself has a somewhat limited offering of bars and restaurants but all in all, the Great Hotel was definitely very good…

The room I stayed in was absolutely lovely with an updated bathroom. The balconies at the Great House are the perfect places to relax while sipping on a glass of wine or a beer. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.

This is a nice hotel and really has the vibe of staying in a family home. It’s located in a quiet area right by the water front. There’s a bit of construction opposite but it wasn’t too bothersome during my stay and hopefully it won’t ruin the sea views once completed! Reception is on the first floor and note there aren’t any lifts, so you need to navigate stairs throughout your stay. The staff were always really friendly and helpful and had no problem arranging things like taxis. My room was on the second floor and really comfortable for a two night stay. Being a wooden building with thin windows means that you feel and hear the winds coming from the ocean but I still managed to have a good night’s sleep. The air-conditioning unit next to the bed was effective and there’s also a ceiling fan. An empty mini fridge was present along with kettle and large bottle of water provided each day. The bathroom was small but clean, with two bars of soap and a small bottle of shampoo provided, as well as plenty of good towels. The shower was over the bath and annoyingly I never managed to get the water to run hot, but that didn’t spoil what was otherwise a nice spacious room. There’s lots of seating and tables at various spots on the different veranda levels - these are great for relaxing both day and night. There’s a large fridge in reception stocked with soft drinks and beers and although there’s no food other than a few snacks available there are a few restaurants close by. Overall this is a lovely and authentic hotel, offering great value, which I’d recommend to anyone and would certainly stay at again myself.

We stayed here one night prior to leaving for the airport the next morning. Its a good and safe option for this, and its very close to the ferry terminal. Despite stories of Belize City being dangerous, the area around The Great House Inn is safe, even at night. There are a couple restaurant options very close by. Rooms are large, and have an old British feel to them, though not very modern. I would stay here again if it was for a night.
