"The Great Old House Restaurant This local favorite bounced back to its pre-hurricane style and ambience quickly. Known for its prompt service, the classy Roseau eatery lies on the more upscale side, serving Caribbean classics like coconut shrimp, octopus stew, and jerk pork with pineapple. In particular, guests tend to rave about the elaborate tropical cocktails and red snapper grilled with chili peppers. When visiting, be sure to request a table for two on the plant-fringed balcony, which overlooks the street and serves as a romantic spot to people-watch."
I’m not sure if I should be posting to the Old Stone Grill and Bar or The Great Old House (same place). The name has no effect —the food is lovely, the balcony gets the perfect breeze, and the service is helpful and friendly. Some folks note that they are often out of things on the menu. It’s an island and the food is fresh. You get what’s good, and it is. Be prepared for large portions. The mains come with two sides and that would be plenty for me. That said, the appetizers were also very good and plentiful. Love the fish cakes! Spicy fries are a treat too.

This place is by far one of the best restaurants I have eaten at on the island. You will not be disappointed. I mean service is great, the food exceptional. It is not a fast food restaurant so if you are looking for a quick meal, this is not the place for you. If you are looking for culinary experience--you have found a gem in this place. Friendly staff and that goes for the owner Steve as well. I ate here for the 1st time in March and knew that when I visited again I would return. Tonight I did with my mom and brother. We were not disappointed.

We tried to get Chinese at the restaurant nearby but they were closed so a local walked us here instead. Overall great service. They accepted our group of 7. The soup and salad was very good and the mahi was not overdone (which we find common). We also shared the cheese bread which was also fresh. Vegetarian friendly. The Yellowtail wine served is very expensive at $35 USD but that’s kind of expected on island. Look on your final bill to see if service and additional VAT tax was added.

Oh my we cannot say enough good things about this place. We ate here three times (so far) and every time the food was fantastic. I don’t know how they make some of their sauces but it is over the top yummy. The selections were plenty and we may try them all. I rate the food 5 star taste and wish we could duplicate some of the dishes. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We did not expect to get this good of quality on a Caribbean island and you really need to try this place. Not far from the dock or the hotel and very very worth it. Yummy.

Love this place! We have had dinner here for three of the last six nights and plan to have many more before we leave the island. The food is fresh, the beer is cold and the service is wonderful. Don't miss this gem!
