Firstly, this is not a reflection on the staff at the Greedy Goose, who were polite and attentive at all times. Rather, the 3 star rating reflects the quality, quantity and cost of the food and drinks, as well as the timeliness, in relation to the overall experience. We had pre-booked for several people, some of whom had been there before and said it was good. We had also pre ordered the food, to try and reduce waiting time. We arrived on time and were seated. The 1st course took about 20 minutes to arrive. I had mussel chowder. Unfortunately, the mussels were small, gritty and I had a stone approximately 10mm across in the dish, which was also significantly over seasoned. The staff were very apologetic and replaced the dish with one without stones in, but similar otherwise. The main course was small and the potato slightly under-cooked, but otherwise OK, not anything amazing. Dessert was similarly small and the bread served with the cheeseboard was very hard. Not stale, but had obviously been sliced some time before and left out. All in all food generally looked nice, but came in very small portions and didn't taste the best, especially for the prices paid. Drinks were very expensive - at the time we visited (the day before the date of review) a beer was £4, wine £8 for a large glass, which was not that large and spirits £4 a shot. Despite the good service by the staff, which is the reason that the rating is not lower, I would not recommend this restaurant and will not be returning.

Great tasting food with amazing presentation. Atmosphere of the restaurant was also excellent. The dish was just the right size for me but some may find a little smaller than other places. I would like to visit again for night time next!

The quality of this restaurant is a real cut above the rest. Not to mention their amazing set lunch offer. The stone work and courtyard add an extra dimension to this restaurant with character.

Really lovely meal. The staff were amazing, polite and helpful. Took my parents there for a 3 course meal. Everyone agreed it was delightful. Fully recommend. The best restaurant in Plymouth. Picture is of the chocolate moose which I had with the Black Muscat dessert wine.

Excellent set lunchtime menu for £13! Good range to choose from, delicious food, had salmon starter, bream main & banoffee pie with salted caramel. Scrumptious

Beautiful building with a lovely courtyard interior. Booking easy online. 3 course meal for £13 early evening during the week. Disappointed with vegetarian choice of starter & main, raised the issue & alternative main course supplied which was delicious. This would be a good regular choice. Unfortunately coffee machine not working to end the meal. Food arrived looking appetising and on hot plates when necessary.

Yelp
I unfortunately was not able to try this resturaunt. I seek out the small places when I travel but this one did not work out. I walked in around 6:30 pm and other than a group of maybe 6 woman who were paying their check, the place was completely empty. I asked if I could have dinner for 1 and I was informed they were completely booked. I choose to go to a nearby bar and have a cocktail and when I walked past again maybe 30 minutes later there were only a couple of people. They missed out and the worst part is when I asked if I could eat at the bar and was denied, one of the staff members me said "maybe he could eat in the kitchen". Only reason I gave 1 star is because they allowed me to use the restroom. So if you are a tourist make sure you book ahead otherwise you will be treated as such and no accommodation. Sad thing is it was highly recommended by others throughout my stay. I had the complete opposite experience at Fletcher's just a short walk from this location.
