On the Grid : La Mouette

"Classical French cuisine with a modern twist, this restaurant is not afraid to mix it up, so you can expect some very inventive (but always delicious) dishes. In summer, the courtyard is set up for people to enjoy dinner under the stars. In winter the fires inside are always roaring and the fact that there are plenty corners to get cozy in make this venue perfect for winter romance." - Brand New Creative

We had a beautiful meal at this Greek restaurant. We started with sardines, bruschetta, and spanakopita — all delicious and incredibly fresh. For mains, I had the lamb chops with chips. The portion was brilliant with six chops, perfectly seasoned and served with mint sauce on the side. Absolutely epic. My wife had the kingklip, which was also fresh and full of flavour. A fantastic experience overall!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An unforgettable dining experience at The Greek Fisherman, Sea Point This restaurant wasn’t our first choice — but wow, it turned out to be the best choice! Our evening couldn’t have gone any better. I was meeting my cousin and his newlywed wife for lunch in Sea Point, Cape Town. As usual, I had done my research on local spots for good food and drinks. Funny enough, the restaurants we drove past were the exact ones I had read about earlier — yet nothing quite felt right. We decided to park and stroll from place to place, but still couldn’t find the one… until we stumbled upon The Greek Fisherman. Right at the entrance, we were greeted by Gency, who immediately won us over with his wit, charm, and charisma. Honestly, if it wasn’t for him, we might have walked right past! As we stepped inside, we were welcomed into a beautiful courtyard centered around a tranquil fountain — cozy, inviting, and full of Mediterranean charm. The atmosphere set the perfect tone for the evening. On offer there were blankets and various heaters which will save you on those chilly nights. We ordered drinks while browsing the menu, and everything looked fantastic (and very well-priced). We went for some sparkling wine — Gency presented the bottle, poured a tasting first, and then placed it back on ice to chill further. That level of attention to detail and professionalism is rare these days and truly appreciated. When our food arrived, it looked incredible — and tasted even better. My cousin and I had the Roast Lamb (slow oven-roasted on the bone with lemon roast potatoes and tzatziki), while his wife chose the Grilled Sirloin (served with mushroom sauce, olive oil, lemon, and oregano). The lamb was tender, juicy, and full of flavor — the kind of dish that makes you reach for bread just to soak up every last drop of that sauce. For dessert, I was hoping for a crème brûlée, but since it wasn’t on the menu, Gency suggested his favorite — the Traditional Baklava (phyllo pastry, nuts, honey syrup, and ice cream). My cousin and I also tried the Feta Cheesecake with Vissino (sour cherry syrup) — something I wouldn’t usually order, but I’m so glad I did. Both desserts were absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. Throughout the meal, Gency was outstanding — knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the food and the guests’ experience. He kept our glasses filled, offered great recommendations, and made sure we were taken care of from start to finish. Thank you for an amazing evening, Greek Fisherman — and an even bigger shoutout to Gency for his incredible service. You’ll definitely be seeing me again!

We had a lovely evening at The Greek fisherman. From the food to our excellent waiter Edward and the lovely manager. The calamari was the softest ever, we ordered a 2nd plate. The Chef's platter was delicious and huge. Yummiest Greek salad with authentic feta and dressing. They made our aunty 80th bday so memorable with a sweet message on her dessert plate. Thank you for a great dinner experience. Will definitely be going back .

I've been wanting to try this place for a while now. I remember when it was still a carvery years back, so it's been on my list. I am so glad I went as this restaurant proved to be quite a delight. The food was delicious, the service was amazing and if it wasn't for the wind, I'm sure the atmosphere would have been great too. We opted to sit inside because of the weather, so the ambiance wasn't the best. The food and service made up furniture though. We were helped by Tendai, who was so lovely and helpful. The manager, Victor, was also amazing. The overall experience was great. I'm looking forward to enjoying an experience in the outside area, enjoying the lovely menu.

The food is really good. Salad is good. Fish and calamari is very good. Chicken with mushroom is good. Beef skew is awesome too. Highly recommended. Table outside is bigger. Table inside is warm but smaller. Desert not good. Cake is okay but ice-cream really sucks! Serving is quick too.

Nice setting outside. I could take my fur baby, which was great. The meal and service were good. The one thing that didn't make any sense was R70 for a tot of Jaggermeister as well as their expensive pricing. Everywhere else, a tot of Jagger is between R30 and R45. Our bill for 2 people was over R1000. No starters or dessert, only 1 glass of wine, one brandy, 2 basic meals, plus 4 Jaggermeisters. We won't go back.
