"The Green Leaf Niseko Village Under the same management umbrella as the nearby Hilton, the Green Leaf has a more intimate boutique feel with the same conveniences as the larger resort. Built for the Hokkaido winter slopes—the Green Leaf is ski-in and ski-out—but enjoyable all year round for the natural hot springs and its proximity to Niseko Village. Hand-drawn murals adorns the walls of the resort, created by contemporary artist Emi Shiratori, and guest rooms feature original artwork. Rooms also include kimono robes for the onsen, Eames furniture, and Shiseido toiletries. Guests can have après-ski cocktails in the lobby lounge, and a Japanese buffet at Goshiki, with more options available in the village (signing privileges extend to the Hilton restaurants and shuttle service is available). Head to Basecamp to rent ski equipment, arrange lessons, or hang out for a movie screening."

Wanted to love it but just not worth the high price! When booking a place for $400/night I expected a much higher level of hotel. I understand the vibe of cozy ski cabin but this place was unfortunately just very dated and showing its age. Another reviewer wrote that the bathrooms were like airplane cabins and I think that’s the best description. The staff were all very nice and helpful! Yes the place is ski in/ski out which was a huge bonus, but there are many other resorts that offer this as well. The complimentary shuttle bus is a nice touch, but it can be infrequent. Taxis are quite pricy otherwise to get into town, and it is too far to walk. We had the breakfast buffet every day and it definitely offers something for everyone but nothing to write home about. It gets the job done. Lastly the physical key situation is quite annoying as they ask you to turn in the key every day before departing. I would recommend the hotel upgrades to a more modern system! Overall it is a nice spot but I think we would have enjoyed this place much more at a lower price tag. Just didn’t feel like we were getting our moneys worth.

Enjoyed a lovely stay at Green Leaf with our family of 5, where the staff were friendly and helpful. Liked the location and the shuttle buses made getting around a breeze. The ski-in, ski-out access was great with a gondola right outside the in-hotel rental/locker area. Breakfast was decent and had enough variety for starting the day. Our rooms were comfortable and clean, and we'd go back again!

Definitely would not recommend. We stayed 5 nights with our ski club. There is really barely anything that feels like you are staying in an authentic Japanese hotel. The majority of guests we encountered were either from the United States or Australia. This hotel is popular with travel agents that book large groups. The concierge we spoke to was from Germany. The hotel really almost felt like we were staying in a dorm room....very small rooms with a tiny bathroom you had to step up to enter. The hallways are super long. I believe this type of set up would be against fire codes in the United States as the exits are only at either end of a very long hallway. The windows in our room did not open. One night around 10pm the fire alarm went off and it ended up being a false alarm. Housekeeping service was only every 3 days. We rented skis in the adjacent shop. Even though we made our reservation online 3 weeks in advance we still had to wait nearly an hour to get our skis as the shop was very busy and with limited staffing. The breakfast buffet and dinner are served in a huge room. Just trying to navigate around the dining room was stressful as it was very busy especially at breakfast with large crowds. It was challenging to find a table a breakfast a couple of mornings. One night at dinner we arrived at 6:45pm. The dinner buffet started at 6:30. As we worked our way through the line we discovered many of the chafing dishes for hot entrees were already empty. Then we had to keep checking back to see if items had been replenished and they were very slow at doing that. There was a large section dedicated to supplies for making your own ramen. We felt the food quality at both breakfast and dinner was adequate but nothing special. Also the same items were served every day with no variety at all. |We definitely felt isolated at this hotel. There was nothing within walking distance and there are no sidewalks. Due to the snow and ice it would not have been safe to walk along the road. A resort shuttle bus runs sporadically; however it takes about 30 minutes to get to Downtown Niseko where there are some shops. Also the resort buses will not take you to the other ski areas. For that you must take a city bus which do not run as often. There is also a charge for those busses unless you have an all area ski pass which unfortunately I did not have. You really need a car to get around. Otherwise you will spend alot of time waiting for and riding busses. |As has been mentioned in other reviews we found the old key system for the doors to be very inconvenient. You are supposed to leave your room key at the front desk when you leave. However on several instances when we returned to retrieve our key all of the front desk staff were busy checking in guests. Therefore we had to wait just to get our key back or try to interrupt a staff member just to give us our key. |To get to the ski lifts you must take a gondola there. If one decides to take a day off from skiing there is really nothing else to do. The hotel does not even have a fitness center. The lobby area is also a bar and drinks were expensive. The only positives were the ski lockers and a nice view from our room.

The rooms had a beautiful view but the heating was below average and when we went in the winter this meant we were usually colder than we would have liked. Hotel suggestion was to close the curtains, but then why pay for such a nice view if you need the curtains closed while you’re in the room? The breakfast on every occasion was a disaster. For such a big hotel, opening breakfast for such a short time was a joke. We waited 45 minutes for a table and when we finally sat down we found out they’d run out of most of the food, and cutlery! Over the 5 nights we stayed there we opted to get breakfast elsewhere even though we had paid for it for our stay. Lunch and dinner were not much better. The skii school was not very good, with several different people in our classes complaining of faulty rental equipment on seperate days. Even the instructors told us this was a problem and they’d had many complaints. But our requests to replace some of the equipment were denied; firstly they said they didn’t have any more replacements then they said they wouldn’t replace anything we had already accepted. The bar in the lobby was nice and cosy, with a warm fireplace. The location of the hotel was good, with access to skiing areas outside. There was also a paid lift option that would take you to Niseko-Yo village, which was a charming place with nice food options. A must visit especially as the hotel food was really not good. The outdoor Onsen was magnificent, and one of the highlights of the trip to Niseko, which brings their rating up in my eyes, but overall I wouldn’t return as it was so overpriced and stressful for what you got.

I'm sure this is a great luxury hotel, by 1980s standards. Rooms lacked most modern amenities, and the whole place is built as 5 floors of long corridors. Expect a long walk to your room, after waiting for the single elevator. There doesn't seem to be much communication around events at the hotel before booking either. I was surprised to turn up and find most of the main green taken up by a race, a multi-day concert leading to many drunkards heading down the slopes, and a school trip that closed the restaurant for dinners. None of these are big issues on their own, but knowing about them beforehand would be great.

We really enjoyed our stay here and the had great help, service and support from Bun-San at the front desk. Thank you Bun. 🙏 Bun is your man if you get stuck and need to find a solution to a logistic problem. Enjoy the ski in ski out benefit and the Onsens. You can even bath with your friends in bathers outside which is nice to be social.

We stayed at the Greenleaf Hotel in the Niseko Village and I thought it was a great place because it was easy to rent skis, store everything in a locker, and have ski in/ski out access to the mountain. The staff was very helpful. Room was comfortable, nothing fancy. The Onsen and spa were excellent and helped with sore muscles. The breakfast can be a bit of mayhem as it’s a big buffet with lots of people. I would not eat dinner there as it did not look appealing at all. |The hotel staff was very helpful with making restaurant reservations which seems very necessary in the busy season.

Agree the advertising of this place doesn’t quite manage expectations in terms of room size/features/nature of the hotel - don’t expect the Hilton. And a real shame the outdoor pool was closed. But we had a great stay here and staff were super friendly and helpful. It’s very easy to ski in/ski out and excellent Spa. Would recommend having a car to get around if you don’t want to rely on the shuttle, as taxis are hard to come by, even with the app (expect a 30-40 min wait searching). Limited other dinner options at the location of the hotel, but the hotel buffet was fine the days we didn’t want to venture out, and shuttle can get you to Niseko-Yo/Mandala pretty easily.

Yelp
Had a great time at this ski in/ ski out resort. Rooms were clean and basic, though I would have preferred Japanese style tatami rooms. Also a bit annoying to only have one key for each room, but you can leave it at the front desk if your roommates will be needing it at different times. They have lockers for each room where you can easily store your skis and snowboards. Equipment rental was easy as well. The onsen was clean and never more than a few people there when I went. There's an indoor and outdoor onsen. They provide soap and lotion, so no need to pack. Fresh kimonos each day. The buffet that came with the package was not bad. A bit similar for each day, but still okay. The bar was a bit pricey. Shuttle buses could have been a bit more frequent but there's a schedule you can use to plan- trips to Hirafu, Hilton, and Kutchan.
