This place has, unfortunately, gone really downhill.
I went in for breakfast and was really disappointed. They used to have some great breakfast sandwiches, but now the menu is limited and offers expensive food that just isn’t appetizing. They had basic bagel options and two pre-made sandwiches wrapped in tinfoil in a heating tray. I wound up ordering a smoothie but it was bad enough that I tossed it before I finished it, despite the $15 price tag. I can’t conclusively say that this is related, but I broke out in hives about ten minutes after drinking the smoothie, which is not typical for me.
The people at the counter were also pretty rude. The shop was empty but they behaved like I was inconveniencing them. One of the people rolled her eyes at me and pointed at the tinfoil wrapped sandwiches when I asked about breakfast options.
I recommend giving it a miss - plenty of other breakfast spots on island that have great food and nice service.

Friendly service but terrible food. And of course, crazy overpriced. I ordered a plain toasted bagel with vegetable cream cheese and got an untoasted gooey everything bagel with cream cheese and a bunch of shredded carrots on top. Sandwich was equally bad..only got through about half of it because I was hungry.

New update as of their reopening May 2024 - their menu has changed. They no longer offer custom made breakfast. There is a premade biscuit breakfast sandwich and a pre made breakfast wrap offered until they run out. It’s just stored in foil in a heated shelf next to the cash register. I have allergies so I’m bummed about these changes. They still offer smoothies and coffee and snacks etc.
It was unclear if the lunch selection changed and I was only there for breakfast - someone report back!
The layout changed a bit with 2 tables where the bench used to be, and one long wooden table in the coffee area.

I never ended up ordering anything, came in and walked out because the lady at the counter was horrifyingly rude and abrasive. Take your business elsewhere, tons of great local spots in the area that are clean and appreciate their customers

Horrible customer service. We placed an online order and arrived to pick it up when they said it was ready. Immediately upon entering, the woman at the counter frantically started telling us they were closed, even though their website said they closed at 3:00pm and there was an “open” sign hung on their door (we arrived around 2:15/2:30pm).
We explained that their website said they were and that they seem to have accepted our online order. She then referenced our order by name, and said that it was never accepted and we should have received a cancellation notification (which we did not).
We tried explaining that we never received a cancelation message, and she then began insisting that she never received the order (which was a lie as she had just referenced our order by name). As soon as we left, she proceeded to cancel the order and we received a notification.
The Green consistently has poor customer service and mediocre food, all while continuing to charge exorbitant prices. While high prices are the norm for Nantucket, The Green’s poor treatment of their own customers makes it officially not worth visiting. Alternatively, Something Natural, Walter’s, and Bartlett’s Farm are all good options for lunch on Nantucket.

Work brings me to Nantucket often and The Green was always a great mid-island spot for a healthy breakfast or lunch. However, 2023 has not been kind to this business. I don't know what's happened but the food quality has nose-dived while the prices continue to sky-rocket. Dropped by recently - zero cars in the parking lot at 12:30PM - and ordered 4 items to-go for a total of $68. As I sat inside waiting for the order, I scanned the restaurant's interior and was kinda horrified to see the amount of filth on the floor along with the scuffed walls and banged up trim. To top it off, when I returned with our food not only was one item missing but the overall consensus was bland and simply, "not worth the money." For now, The Green is off my list. Hopefully 2024 will bring back quality food and perhaps a coat of paint, or two?

Food was prepared quickly with fresh ingredients. The Roost was a good sized portion with good flavor. The vegan wrap was a large mix of veggies and hummus. Slightly lackluster in regards to flavor, needed something to upgrade it from a salad wrap. The soup was hot with lots of vegetables. An average lunch, slightly pricey, but that is the way it is at this point in time.

We came here for breakfast and had a horrible experience. The store was so hot it felt like the heat was on. Then the lady taking our order was less than friendly. I got a toasted bagel with cream cheese and a smoothie. The bagel was handed to me cold and hard, the smoothie I got was not even full which was disappointing considering the price I paid. I am all for saving the turtles and environment but between my friend and I we went through 6 straws because they broke as soon as we put our mouths on them and we just gave up. so upset with the price I spent for the experience and quality of what I got.
