This place has, unfortunately, gone really downhill. I went in for breakfast and was really disappointed. They used to have some great breakfast sandwiches, but now the menu is limited and offers expensive food that just isn’t appetizing. They had basic bagel options and two pre-made sandwiches wrapped in tinfoil in a heating tray. I wound up ordering a smoothie but it was bad enough that I tossed it before I finished it, despite the $15 price tag. I can’t conclusively say that this is related, but I broke out in hives about ten minutes after drinking the smoothie, which is not typical for me. The people at the counter were also pretty rude. The shop was empty but they behaved like I was inconveniencing them. One of the people rolled her eyes at me and pointed at the tinfoil wrapped sandwiches when I asked about breakfast options. I recommend giving it a miss - plenty of other breakfast spots on island that have great food and nice service.

Friendly service but terrible food. And of course, crazy overpriced. I ordered a plain toasted bagel with vegetable cream cheese and got an untoasted gooey everything bagel with cream cheese and a bunch of shredded carrots on top. Sandwich was equally bad..only got through about half of it because I was hungry.

Google
Horrible customer service. We placed an online order and arrived to pick it up when they said it was ready. Immediately upon entering, the woman at the counter frantically started telling us they were closed, even though their website said they closed at 3:00pm and there was an “open” sign hung on their door (we arrived around 2:15/2:30pm). We explained that their website said they were and that they seem to have accepted our online order. She then referenced our order by name, and said that it was never accepted and we should have received a cancellation notification (which we did not). We tried explaining that we never received a cancelation message, and she then began insisting that she never received the order (which was a lie as she had just referenced our order by name). As soon as we left, she proceeded to cancel the order and we received a notification. The Green consistently has poor customer service and mediocre food, all while continuing to charge exorbitant prices. While high prices are the norm for Nantucket, The Green’s poor treatment of their own customers makes it officially not worth visiting. Alternatively, Something Natural, Walter’s, and Bartlett’s Farm are all good options for lunch on Nantucket.

Google
I never ended up ordering anything, came in and walked out because the lady at the counter was horrifyingly rude and abrasive. Take your business elsewhere, tons of great local spots in the area that are clean and appreciate their customers

Google
Work brings me to Nantucket often and The Green was always a great mid-island spot for a healthy breakfast or lunch. However, 2023 has not been kind to this business. I don't know what's happened but the food quality has nose-dived while the prices continue to sky-rocket. Dropped by recently - zero cars in the parking lot at 12:30PM - and ordered 4 items to-go for a total of $68. As I sat inside waiting for the order, I scanned the restaurant's interior and was kinda horrified to see the amount of filth on the floor along with the scuffed walls and banged up trim. To top it off, when I returned with our food not only was one item missing but the overall consensus was bland and simply, "not worth the money." For now, The Green is off my list. Hopefully 2024 will bring back quality food and perhaps a coat of paint, or two?

Food was prepared quickly with fresh ingredients. The Roost was a good sized portion with good flavor. The vegan wrap was a large mix of veggies and hummus. Slightly lackluster in regards to flavor, needed something to upgrade it from a salad wrap. The soup was hot with lots of vegetables. An average lunch, slightly pricey, but that is the way it is at this point in time.

Google
We came here for breakfast and had a horrible experience. The store was so hot it felt like the heat was on. Then the lady taking our order was less than friendly. I got a toasted bagel with cream cheese and a smoothie. The bagel was handed to me cold and hard, the smoothie I got was not even full which was disappointing considering the price I paid. I am all for saving the turtles and environment but between my friend and I we went through 6 straws because they broke as soon as we put our mouths on them and we just gave up. so upset with the price I spent for the experience and quality of what I got.

Google
Awesome place for a quick healthy bite! They have a great selection of sandwiches, salads, wraps, and smoothies. They are fast even if you are ordering there and the prices aren't bad at all. They have parking and some limited indoor/outdoor seating.

Yelp
Yum. This place was amazing to pick up and go on our way to the beach. It has things for people with all dietary needs--vegan, GF, non dairy, etc. Coffee was good with cold and hot options, and espresso drinks with lots of milk options. Great smoothies--make your own or choose one from the list. I loved their breakfast burrito, although it is MESSY so beware of getting pico do gallo on your outfit. They had food you could grab for lunch as well, sandos, pre made salads, breads and even cut fruit. I didn't try any of this but based on the other stuff it would be great. A small seating area and parking lot are just the right size for a spot where most people and grabbing and running. Also: you can call ahead with your order and just come pick up so you don't need to wait.

Yelp
Super disappointed! Used to LOVE coming here and getting overpriced made to order smoothies and breakfast sandwiches. Now it's just overpriced prepared grab and go with absolutely no flexibility to get any adjustments (ex: breakfast sandwiches all have meat, my husband doesn't eat bacon, they wouldn't make him one without). For $15 I would hope I could get one without bacon. Not to mention, the employee was super unfriendly. Definitely won't be coming back here again.

Katherine R.

Yelp
We loved it! They provided great food with quick service! Lots of options on their menu!

Yelp
First time going to the green and it was an awful experience. The woman who was running the cash register- the one with a buzz cut- was so rude, snarky and immature. First, I asked for a small iced coffee and a breakfast burrito. She said with a condescending tone that they didn't serve breakfast anymore and so I ordered a turkey wrap. She huffed and started to put the order in, and then I paid and she ignored me when I said thank you and wouldn't look at me and moved on to the next person in line. She after waiting for a while I noticed I never got my coffee, which my friend had also just ordered but had already gotten. So we both go up to the counter and my friend said "she never got her coffee" and the cashier looked at me with a smirk and says "you never ordered a coffee". I said to her "I did, I ordered it before I tired to order the breakfast burrito" and she smiles and says "you didn't." So I said again "I did, just a small iced coffee". Once getting my coffee my name was called for my sandwich, in which she slammed the bag on the counter and walked away. Lastly, as my friends and I are waiting for the last of our order, we see her pointing and talking about me, being quite vocal and not bothering to hide the fact that she was talking about me, almost as if she seemed proud. After we get everything we ordered she and her coworker stare us down as we leave, with a smirk on her face. It amazes me how someone so bitter and unhappy with themselves are allowed to be the face of the cafe. I think anyone that miserable shouldn't be the one to interact with customers, leaving a bad taste and worse reputation.

Yelp
The lady with the buzz cut at the counter was immediately in a bad mood when i went to order and was not friendly at all. Overall just terrible customer service and then she proceeded to be extremely rude to one of my friends and was gossiping about our party and pointing at us when we were sitting down and eating.

Yelp
Got the Gobb on wheat wrap to go. Gobb: Roasted hand carved turkey breast, cheddar, avocado, tomatoes, banana peppers, Dijon olio, and romaine. The wrap held up well for the drive out to the beach to where I enjoyed it. It was very heavy, well-packed, and well conceived. The banana peppers really added a new twist. I also got a green juice to go. I wish I had remembered napkins. The juice was already bottled. I did not like it - it tasted healthy. They also had coffee drinks, baked goods, and fresh made juices. I will get a fresh made juice next time. And I would get the Gobb again.

Yelp
It changed hands this year and the food is no where near as good as it used to be. The gluten free coffee cake and muffins were delicious last year...today I just threw out the piece of coffee cake I bought because it was so dry and didn't have all the brown sugar and cinnamon and nut goodness that it used to have.

Yelp
Next time I'm here this will be the first stop for sure. Good service tasty food!! I got the vegan veggie wrap with vegan granola bar and a vegan blueberry raspberry muffin!! Saving those for the plane ride. I also had a latte with hemp milk. Best tasting latte. Thank you.

Yelp
Open year round, this is the perfect spot to grab a quick coffee or a bite. We had some delicious lattes and breakfast sandwiches (the best bacon egg and cheese on a bagel). It's tough to find a reasonably priced / quick option in ACK, so very glad this place exists!
google avatar

Jeff G.

Yelp
Over priced which brings it down a star. Breakfast sandwiches are solid here. Real eggs not just microwaved like many of the other takeout breakfast places here. I don't get it but it seems like every place on the island refuse to cut their sandwiches in half. They have a nice smoothie menu too. Jenny's protein was amazing but tough to swallow when you are paying $12 for a 16 is smoothie.
google avatar

Alexandra M.

Yelp
You can call in orders and do pick up, which is what we did on this occasion. Lots of options for sandwiches of all dietary needs and everyone in our family was happy (as we always are from here). The coffee drinkers in the group also like The Green for that I had an avocado bagel which was perfection.

Yelp
Maybe we were there on an off day? This was literally the worst breakfast sandwich I've ever had. The bagel was flat (and not because it was a trendy flagel) and not particularly flavorful or chewy on its own, the contents were falling out with every bite, it had no discernible cheese, and it was pricey at $9. This place is obviously catering to the Nantucket crowd by serving lots of fancy organic juices and gluten free items, but I found it ironic that they didn't have a way to recycle my items once I was done eating. My husband's cheese and bacon croissant was huge and quite tasty (and only $5), and I assume they have some other good items, which is why I've given this two stars.

Stephanie Y.

Yelp
I mean the food was tasty and not super expensive but my burrito was teeny relative to my friends burritos. Was it the gluten free wrap that hindered the food quantity inside? Did you forget to put the carnitas and jalapenos inside that bad boy because I didn't see any? The hot sauce was suuuppper good, so bravo to that. My friend's chicken burrito was large and delicious and my burrito envy was real high. Food envy is the worst. I'd come again since sometimes, you know, things happen and I'm always on the lookout for healthy options especially when it involves building my own burrito/wrap. They also seem to have fresh juices, non wrap sandwiches and breakfast sandwiches as well. The chocolate chip cookie was delicious, still warm with that cakey consistency that I do enjoy. A boat load of gluten free options so, there's that.

Yelp
A$20 breakfast should come as ordered. My juice was killed with beet (and a second attempt didn't fix the situation and got me attitude from the staff--is it really so hard to flush the juicer?), and my vegan breakfast sandwich was a total mess with cheddar goo on the aluminum foil that marinated nicely with my plant based order. I hate leaving this as most mornings my experience is fair and my items are as ordered. Today was a waste of money and time. Such a bummer as there are few options on the island at the moment for vegans. Won't be returning for another year or so until I forget this bad experience (such is my life cycle with this place). In the meantime, I want my 15 minutes and money back.

Yelp
Yummy! Ordered online- just an everything bagel with veggie cream cheese. I was getting text updates from the online order that indicated it was ready so I hopped up to the window and the lady told me it wasn't ready. Not a big deal but if you're going to have that system make sure it's giving the correct information to patrons! My bagel came out soon after. The bagels here are huge! Really yummy but not a ton of cream cheese, if you're a big fan ask for extra!
google avatar

Jessica P.

Yelp
Came here and was disappointed with the plant eater wrap, there was hardly any peanut sauce in the wrap so it tasted just like plain veggies. My friend also had no dressing in her breakfast burrito.
google avatar

Kaila C.

Yelp
I stopped here for a quick breakfast after checking on yelp to see if they had vegan options. There were plenty of fresh juice and smoothie options, and even had a vegan muffin in their baked goods case. The service was warm and friendly, and there was plenty of parking. I will definitely be back next time I am on the island.

Yelp
The Green is a health nut's oasis. Great organic smoothies, burritos, and their BEC is to die for (I recommend adding on arugula, tomato, and avo). HOWEVER...I just tried their matcha latte which truly I wanted to love so bad but just did not live up to my expectations at all. This is the reason I had to take off a star. All the matcha powder sat at the bottom of the cup and it barely looked mixed to begin with. Save your money and make yo matcha at home folks.

Yelp
Another place that had been on my list to try that took forever before I made it in. It's a small place that has inside and outside seating. The boards overhead have bother breakfast and lunch options if you're looking for that. I've gone the burrito route the last two times, but I believe they make sandwiches as well. You can build your burrito in classic fashion: Wrap, meat, fillings, salsa. The grass fed beef is delicious and I like that I can have olives and grilled onions in my burrito without any issue. Beware that certain add ons cost a fair amount more ($1 for pico?? Come on now). Not bad food thpugh. Not chipotle if that's what you're looking for, but fresh and tasty ingredients.

Yelp
YUMMY! Just what the island needed, fresh, organic and delicious food! love this place, I think I will keep my tab open!

Nancy B.

Yelp
If I could give less then one star I would. The service and food were beyond terrible. We could not eat it and threw it out. Stay clear. The eggs tasted like they were fake, bagel was cold, jalepeno cream cheese was made by throwing jalepeno in at the last second.

Yelp
The Green is one of those places you have to try whether you live on island year round or are just visiting. It's rare that a place cares about the quality of all of their food, and doesn't cut corners to save a few bucks. The line out the door speaks for itself. Pros: - Awesome sandwiches with a big variety of fresh ingredients - Lots of organic / Eco-friendly things (even the to-go containers and plasticware) - Bagels flown in from NY every day! - The store baked goods are delicious too (but like someone else mentioned wish there were more options every day - Best burritos and they have Cholulas - Lots of healthy fresh squeezed juice options (FYI to the other reviewer who mentioned watered down juice, I saw them doing the same so I asked the girl behind the counter. She told me they rinse the juicer between uses and don't add any water to the actual juice. They want to avoid contaminating OJ with green veggie residue, etc.) Cons: - It can be very busy at peak hours, but I don't mind the wait for the awesome food. Most good places have a wait anyway, so what's the difference - I wish it was open longer to grab takeout dinner - There are a couple of tables in and outside, but sometimes tough to get one if you want to eat there. Overall, definitely a place not to miss if you want fresh delicious takeout food. I almost hate to write such a great review, bc I don't want the lines to be any longer.. Enjoy!

Yelp
What a fab find on the island! The Green is like a beacon of light in a sea of darkness for anyone with a food allergy or a vegan/veg diet. The burritos are fantastic and the smoothies are so good I had to go back before I left the island just to have more. We went for lunch, I had a chicken burrito with the works on a gluten-free wrap and a strawberry/banana smoothie, both were delicious and a welcome change from all of the high-end establishments we were eating at for dinner. The best part about this place is they have Cholula hot sauce available at the counter - a big win for me because I love that stuff. Also loved the board books by Sandra Boynton they had in abundance, my little one was thoroughly occupied and that's always a good thing. http://misterbelly.com

Yelp
The burritos are THE BOMB! So are the Fish Tacos. Everything is made fresh daily and so delicious. The cookies are incredible. Their menu totally sets the bar as far as freshness, selection and quality. I could seriously eat there everyday and not get sick of it. Keep up the great work!
google avatar

Todd Y.

Yelp
Out of the three burritos that were ordered 2 were wrong including one that didn't have meat, which was ordered.... The burritos were tasty, though when you pay as much as a you do, you expect the burritos to be right..
google avatar

Lydia D.

Yelp
The food is pretty ok. It's certainly the only place on island for nice light takeout. The service is terrible though. It's like none of the employees talk to each other. Wait for two breakfast sandwiches took over half an hour. At least 5 people who came in after me were served first. That's ridiculous. They have a good idea going on but the execution is a bit off. The juicer is right next to where you order and pick up food so it's impossible to hear anything. There is one competent employee. He is very sweet and helpful and seems to be the one moving the show along.

Yelp
Thank God there's a place like this on Nantucket! Long overdue! I always crave health food when I travel and am comforted to know the Green is here for me when I come to Nantucket. This past little visit we came here three days in a row for lunch! The staff is super nice and patient, and the food and coffee both quality. I got the big Island burrito bowl two days in a row. And now I'm having withdrawals. Seriously the best. Can't go wrong with the smoothie of the day either. (It's hard for me to make choices on choose your own ingredient menus, so sticking to their recipes was helpful). Great gluten free options including desserts and tacos. Both incredible also. They use organic ingredients and compostable "to go" ware. (Even straws :) Wish more restaurants would follow suit. No disappointments here.
google avatar

Kelly K.

Yelp
I am a fan of their breakfast bagel with eggs, bacon and cheese. Very tasty.
google avatar

Nunya B.

Yelp
This place is excellent! The staff is super friendly and the food is all organic and natural. The bagels are the best I've had outside of NYC and you can't go wrong with any of the other breakfast sandwiches. They offer free Wifi, juice bar, fresh salads and wraps, and delicious pastries. I stumbled across it a few weeks ago and it has quickly become my favorite spot for breakfast and lunch on the island. I don't hesitate to give it 5 stars and would highly recommend a visit.
google avatar

Mai Linh N.

Yelp
By far the healthiest place to eat on Nantucket. The menu changes day to day. They accommodate every dietary need, raw juice, smoothies, and wheat grass shots. My favorite things are the scones, quiche made with local eggs, organic chocolate chip cookies, and the vegan breakfast sandwich. It is more expensive than the average lunch but you are getting better food that is made on Nantucket.
google avatar

Kayla H.

Yelp
Delicious. The Green is a reasonably priced option with great food choices. We stumbled upon it by chance, and kept coming back for more. The fish tacos are definitely worth writing home about. They (two come in each order) taste fresh with a perfect blend of ingredients making each bite just as scrumptious as the last. In our week stay, we probably had lunch at the green 3 times. While they advertise themselves as a "take out" restaurant; they actually have outdoor seating so it's easy to order something and eat right there. Minus one star is for running out of the tacos and other entrees a few times (close to 12noon). I understand they work with fresh ingredients as they are available, so go in earlier than later.
google avatar

K C.

Yelp
So happy to have found this place! Had just come from around the corner where the rudest waitress ever told us they were closed. Kept walking and stumbled on this little gem. I'm gluten free and really appreciated all their offerings and the quick and friendly service inside!
google avatar

Mike G.

Yelp
Every mexican place should come to this place to see how to make a burrito. I had for lunch a beef burrito with tomates, grilled onions and cheese in an herb wrap and it was a sinful experience. The place was jammed, but they have a slew of people working behind the counter, so the wait is never as bad as it looks. And the classic 80's alternative music was awesome to the ears !!!
google avatar

Maryana F.

Yelp
Love it here! The food, the employees, the environment, I love everything. On the pricey side but I don't mind paying more for excellent quality!! Delicious, healthy food.

Alex G.

Yelp
Favorite to-go breakfast on the island. Delicious breakfast burritos with REAL fresh ingredients- nothing pre-cooked or artificial here! Also carry a wide gamut of baked goods (most of which are gluten free), make DELICIOUS smoothies and have FANTASTIC service!
google avatar

Marion S.

Yelp
Went for breakfast and pleased everyone in the crowd! My daughter and I both had gluten free wraps filled with eggs, salsa, cheese and guacamole - absolutely delicious , husband and sons had breakfast bagels they loved with similar breakfast goodies add some meat - drinks were perfect only small complaint was one of the front counter people were pretty rude during ordering.

Andrew C.

Yelp
Great little coffee and breakfast spot. Lots of great vegan and vegetarian options as well. Smoothies are very good! Bagel was tolerable for New England area.
google avatar

Janie H.

Yelp
Best bagels and coffee on the Island! Healthy fresh homemade food. Check out the bulletin board too. Great place to catch up on local events.

Patrick B.

Yelp
The saying goes "burn me once, shame on you, burn me twice shame on me" so i have no one to blame but myself. After numerous disappointing visits I swore to myself I would never go back. Then , today I suggested coffee and a friend -a regular -drove us there. Over $17 dollars for 3 drip coffees and two pastries. Wow. To be clear, I don't ask for much. I'm not picky and im not one to stir the pot. But, if you're going to charge over 3 dollars for a cup of drip at the very least give your customers coffee worth drinking. It's basically tea. Brown water with a hint of coffee essence. Never again.

Kelly T.

Yelp
Amazing food, great selection, friendly staff. Will definitely return next time! Recommend Jenny's protein smoothie and the matcha latte. I just wish there were locations all around the island!!
google avatar

Abby B.

Yelp
Delicious NY bagels. Cream cheese and coffee is great too. Be prepared for $12 smoothies! Yikes!
google avatar

Brian L.

Yelp
The food is delicious AND organic, the staff is helpful and efficient, and the location is ideal - not too close to the craziness of downtown, but not inconvenient either. The breakfast burrittos are too die for, and the daily wrap specials are excellent.
google avatar

Kelly K.

Yelp
Nantucket needed a place like this - the menu sets The Green apart from other sandwich shops on the island. The ingredients are fresh, the specials are creative, the staff is friendly and helpful. I think the portions are pretty generous, I can get two meals out of one of their burritos. Yum - love The Green!

Will S.

Yelp
Great smoothie, great vibe, great wraps. Best lunch place with vegan-options on the island

Brianna K.

Yelp
Had an amazing experience at The Green! Must try while on the island! The egg frittata and chicken salad were to die for, so yummy and full of flavor! They also sell whole coconuts to drink from! Wish we had the chance to try more!

Yelp
Messed up twice'!! Sonomore, first time 3 years ago i gotthe burrito,it was disgusting, mushi rice, tastless,no salt ,nothing, threw away, and here you go today ,they just forgot to make mocha for me,they took the money fast and....no coffee, poor customer service the worst,so never again!
google avatar

Colin G.

Yelp
This is THE spot for a good take out breakfast and coffee. The breakfast burrito and sandwich is great. the bagels are not overly doughy and good flavor. the coffee is very good and flavorful. the best part of The Green must be the smoothies. these are all custom order and have a bunch of fresh items to choose from. i highly recommend you start your mornings here.

Yelp
Love, love, love this place! Nantucket needed an organic breakfast/lunch spot badly! I have eaten here more than a dozen times and exceptionally great every time. 2 days ago I had their meat wrap (organic grilled chicken, olives, cucumber, tomatoes, and the most amazing fresh dill sauce) that I would eat every day if I could. Doesn't get any better than this.
